TruGreen Lawn Care - 5635

The lawn was weed free and looked pretty good until we got nailed by dry weather (no amount of watering was going to solve that problem). Now for the bad part, the first sales guy I dealt with was very pushy. I worked out a good deal however and was happy until the last stage of my treatment, the aeration, was never performed. TruGreen's initial response, with a more pleasant salesman was simply to give me the same deal I received the year before. That wasn't going to work. They ended up discounting the service further which made things more agreeable so I re upped. My lawn has looked good with TruGreen but I will be looking elsewhere if there are any problems with my service or customer service this year.

They did a great job keeping the dandelions and broad leaf plants under control, but the crabgrass got way out of hand. They're pretty expensive compared to other providers of similar services. They were very good at communicating about what was done and when they were coming, but the impact on the lawn was so slight for the cost that I'll be trying a different company.

However, I think they are a little high priced and I don’t like their constant telemarketing calls or automatic renewal.

They did a great job. I thought the serviceman that did my yard was very pleasant and I was pleased with the service. I was kind of surprised. I was a little skeptical going in. I'm going to do it again this year because they did such a nice job. I was impressed with them.

Had decent results in the past but this past year was a mess. Our service for some reason stopped for a couple of months and then at the end we had cancelled a service but a few weeks later they came and performed the service anyway. Very difficult to work between their office staff and their field staff.

They are professional and responsive. If you want them back they will come back and not charge me for it. I pay on an annual basis. They also make recommendations for different things like watering and seeding.

Used this service for three years. I was happy the first year and disappointed the last two. The applications did not kill weeds. They used liquid fertilizer when they should have used granular. The first application for crabgrass prevention. The office sends out bogus billing, they harass you for additional services and don't seem to have their act together. I'm on Angie's list looking for a new lawn service and thought I should warn you about TruGreen. Go with somebody else.

For the third tear in a row now I've used Trugreen's 7-step service from Aoril through November. They have done an excellent job and my lawn has looked awesome each year they provided service. They call a few days ahead of time to let me know what day they will be out and if I request to meet the technician before they start a particular treatment, they will call me when they leave their previous job so that I can meet them and discuss anything with them. Technicians are always thorough and professional. They are definitely worth the price I pay.

The price I put was the total for last year and this year. Last year, it seemed like everything went fairly well. Yard looked good, gophers were significantly reduced. I payed around $1000.00 for last years services. I have a large property. This year, more services were added. Tru Green likes to start early and contact you about additional services on top of what you have purchased in the past. They're phone campaign can be very aggresive. Anyways, so I added tree and shrub treatments this year. That bumped the annual cost up to around $1,500.00. Tru Greens' other services, in my opinion are very expensive for what you actually get. So then, last month, Tru Green guy came out for yard service. I was home and actually got to talk to the guy. I'm usually at work. He says he was treating for weeds today. OK. He literally took a handheld tank sprayer, and walked the yard for about 5 to 10 minutes. Got in his truck and left. Poof! $111.00! The problem I had was the time on site. I've never had a Tru Green guy there for less than 30 min to do anything. And I was home! I just thought it was sub-par service. This year, the gophers are very bad on my yard. The grub treatment is nearly $300 and is done in June. Tru Green also makes you sign a contract for quoted services, so you're locked in for the season. Overall, I don't think I'll be using them after this year.

Trees are healthy. Started this service to avoid apple scab disease.

Key disappointment I have is that it's almost impossible to get service technicians on the phone. I wanted to discuss the notes technician left with him and I haven't been able to do that in a month timeframe... I requested to get a specific technician to do services on my lawn from now on, but it didn't sound they will do that for me... And since this company is way more expensive than most other business I've been looking at, I would really expect much more...

The salesman stopped by and described their services. I had been considering hiring a service so the timing seemed good. He said that it was important to get going on the service in order to take care of the crab grass so I entered into a transaction with them. I was told the service people would be there to do the first application within the next couple days. After several days and no serviceman I called and told them I was going to cancel and wanted a refund. They agreed but apologized sincerely and asked for another chance, which I agreed to. The serviceman was then there very promptly and did a good job. I am going to continue on with Tru Green through the 2012 season and see how it goes before deciding on 2013.

I paid for the entire year of service. TruGreen gives me a call a day or two before they are scheduled to come out. The service man comes to my door to describe what he is doing, ask if I have any questions, and make recommendations. Very professional and courteous. Has done a very good job to date.

I called them to treat the creeping charlie but they did not do it. I explained that's what I was wanting to have done and asked if he knew what the weed was. He did not know any of the weeds, had to look them all up. He didn't treat the lawn with the proper chemicals and didn't treat the problem. I refused to pay them because they didn't do what I needed. They wanted me to sign a contract and I wouldn't do it.

Tru Green over-fertilized a full-sun spot in my back yard and killed the grass. At least 3 "managers" over a year's time contacted me about my problem, one even came out and claimed the grass was dead from tree roots or squirrels or something. They also guaranteed they could get rid of wild violet in my yard, and they never did. The only offer I have received is a free lawn aeration if I sign up for a full year service. Why would I do that when they are the problem in the first place? Don't let these people come within 100 yards of your lawn.

From a quality of work standpoint, Trugreen was outstanding. They showed up when they said they would, worked promptly, and the results were outstanding. By the end of their service, my lawn had gone from extremely overrun with many kinds of weeds, to being completely weed-free, with some of the nicest grass on the block as a bonus! I was thoroughly impressed with the effectiveness of their work and could not have asked for that to go better. This year, for many reasons (mostly financial) having nothing to do with the quality of their work, I decided not to renew with TruGreen. I explained this to them when they called, told them I was happy with the work they'd provided but had other financial priorities this year and would consider using them again next summer. Since that day, almost two months ago, I have received 1-2 pieces of mail per week asking me to renew, 1-2 emails per week asking me to renew, and 1-2 phone calls per week, asking me to renew. To be fair, I don't answer the phone calls anymore - it was hard enough to get the first guy to accept it and I feel telling them once is enough. Their sales force is ruthless and for me personally, has left a poor enough image of the company in my mind that I am unlikely to use them again, despite the quality of their work. It's sort of a shame, if I didn't feel harassed by this company, I certainly would have used them again because they really did nice work with the lawn and provided great service throughout that experience. I think if you do use this company, you'll be happy for as long as you continue to renew each year.

They are courteous and respectful. We had a vegetable garden and they avoided it. They always left us a note if they were there and we were not.

The Trugreen staff is capable and their results are adequate. However, their services are expensive and they are always up-selling addtional services. The main downside to using Trugreen is they will call you at night (sometimes after 8:00pm) inquiring about payment for bills that were recently received in the mail. We pay our bills in a timely fashion, but they call non-stop. They also call to sell new services. Thank goodness for caller id. We will not be using them next year now that the contract is up.

All the grass along the fence has turned brown after a couple days after their service. There are also tire tracks of brown grass in the back yard. The front lawn is also turning brown and is dying. The neighbors' lawns are just fine. I have tried contacting them at least 5 times within that last week and a half and they seem to be avoiding a follow-up and not returning my phone calls when I try to follow up on this issue. There also is damage to our brand new fence that may have been caused by them.

Not well, no one from the company has called back about our complaints or offered any help. We lost 6 big Birch trees. and they just keep offering to treat the rest of them. No Thanks

Made date and time for house cleaning - they did not show up and have never returned 2 callsmade that day asking if they were coming.

My experience with them has been good. I haven’t had weeds in my yard. They are on time and courteous. The price is right. Satisfaction is guaranteed and I haven’t had any problems with them.

I called TruGreen one time to try and price out some lawn care. All I got was a sales pitch. I couldn't get much information about what they would do; just "WHEN CAN WE START" over and over. I told them I was going to get another bid and hung up. They called back the next day harrassing me. I told them I had found someone else. They came to my house the next day and left paperwork with my wife. Then they called again. Then they sent me a flier in the mail. Finally today they called and acted like they had never spoken to me with the ruse of "we did work for the people who lived there before you, but did you need anything?" CONSTANT HARASSMENT. WAY OVERPRICED! Their bid was nearly $600. I went with someone else for $340 and the same service.

I have nothing good to say about them. They had very poor weed control. They would come out and do an application that was supposed to kill all the weeds. I actually saw one guy sitting out in the truck for a long time and I don't know whether they did any work at all. They keep calling and calling to try to get us back as customers. I thought that they were very pushy. I have no idea whether they have regular employees or if they just hire somebody for the summer. They did have one guy that came out and he was very nice. I would not recommend them to anybody.

They were fine and we used their services for a couple of years. They are comparable to everybody else around here. They used to come, do their work and leave, and we did not have any complications with them. They are a reliable company and I would recommend them.
