Thor Anderson was punctual and professional. We called Sunday afternoon inquiring about ice dam removal and he was at our house within 24 hours. Thor went above and beyond to help us. He cleared our roof and ice dams, took pictures to show us problem areas on our roof, and provided us with a plan to prevent our problem from reoccurring in the future. We highly recommend Thor and will not hesitate to call him again if problems arise in the future.

Thor quickly returned our call. Arrived at the arranged time. Did a great job dealing with our roof issues, and exceeded our expectations cleaning up the snow and ice removed from the roof. We would absolutely use him again and would definitely refer him on to friends and neighbors!

Thor provided excellent service and responded promptly to my call. He showed up on time, explained everything he was doing, and did a great job removing the ice dams. Thor was very reasonable on costs and we were really happy we selected him.

We had water running down from the roof down the third floor walls, through the floor and to the second floor bedroom. We got out towels and I started calling down the list of providers on Angie's List. After getting several voicemails, I got Thor. Thor picked up his phone and was just finishing up a job in Minneapolis. He was over in less than 20 minutes. He was thorough, professional; he set a price and stuck to it. We have a a very steep, high roof and he was not intimidated. I hope to not need ice dam removal again, but will call Thor if I do. I already gave his name to my neighbors.

Based on other reviews here Thor was my first call on 2/18 after I noticed water dripping down my living room wall the night before. Thor answered, was upfront on the cost and when his first availability was (2/19). Thor kept me updated with his ETA and when he arrived, gave me a quick description of what they would do and got right to it. Cleared the whole roof, not just my trouble areas. Very professional job. Will be my first call if ice becomes a problem again.

Thor was great. He answered the phone as soon as I called. He scheduled service as quickly as he could (the other ice dam removal companies didn't even have time to return my calls...). He showed up exactly when he said he would, completed the job quickly, and charged a reasonable rate. To top it off, he is a really nice guy. Hopefully we won't have problems in the future, but if we do I will certainly call him again.

I left them a brief message to have them call me back regarding ice dam removal and never heard from them. I expected at least the professionalism and courtesy of a return call even if they were too busy or wouldn't service my area. Very disappointed!

I woke up at 4:00 am to the sound of dripping water in my newly remodeled master bathroom. I immediately thought "ice dams!" My fears were confirmed when I walked into the bathroom. Water was coming in through the top of the window, which is near the roof overhang. I called Thor Anderson around 7:45 am and they were here by 9:00 am, which was amazingly fast. They were very thorough and explained the process in detail. They recommended the best way to tackle our (significant) ice dams to keep our cost down, then got to work. Our ice dams were 6-8 inches high in some places and 4-5 feet deep -- even though we'd been roof raking this winter -- so it was a big project for Thor Anderson to tackle. They did a great job. Thor Anderson was here for about 2 hours, during which they roof raked, got on the roof and steamed off ice, and explained why our ice dams were so bad (a combination of a bad winter and sections of poor insulation). The water stopped dripping into the bathroom within an hour or so of them getting to work. They were professional, friendly, communicative, and affordable. I would highly recommend them for ice dam removal. Best of all, they saved my new bathroom. Thanks, Thor Anderson!

No one wants to have to spend hundreds of dollars to have ice dams removed from their roofs. However if you have to do it Thor Anderson is a great guy to call. I called Thor in the afternoon on Wednesday and he was able to get to my house by the next morning. He did arrive a bit later than planned but it was because it was heavily snowing and it didn't make sense to start working in those conditions. He did let me know that morning that he would be late. When they arrived he asked if I would back my car up in the driveway so they wouldn't get snow on it when they cleared the roof. I told him I would try but that I had gotten stuck which was why it was in the driveway and not the garage. Without me even asking his partner got out the snowblower and cleared the driveway behind my car so I could back it up. They then started working with Thor's partner shoveling the snow off the roof and Thor steaming the ice dams. I felt the work was done well and Thor was always kind and professional. He was fair in his pricing and I felt like I got what I paid for. I hope we don't have to have ice dams removed again, but if we do we will be calling Thor.

It's not everyday you have a superhero come and work on your house, but I was lucky enough to have Thor come and help my roof in its time of need. We discovered a leak coming from the bathroom exhaust fan on Friday night and I gave Thor a call at 8AM on Saturday morning. He told me he could come by in the early afternoon and we talked for several minutes on the phone about the leak I had and if he could help. As a roofer, Thor brought a vast amount of knowledge about ice dams and how they work to our conversation. He is not a landscaper just looking for something to do during the Winter. Thor was running late because his partner was suddenly not able to work in the afternoon. Thor told me that he would still be able to the work at my house, but that it may take a little longer and the cost of the service would still be the same. I knew all of this ahead of time because he was kind enough to call me ahead of time so I would know. When Thor arrived we surveyed the situation and he prioritized the work that would be done to fit within my time and cost constraints. In the end, he was able to finish my entire roof by himself and allowed me to have a flexible payment arrangement as I am currently switching between bank accounts. As an added bonus, water stopped leaking into my bathroom about 30 minutes after he finished removing the ice dams in that area of my roof. I would definitely hire Thor to work on my home again whether for ice dam removal or for general roof work. I would trust him to do the work correctly and in its entirety even if I was not at home. His rate is not the highest, nor is it the lowest of contractors on Angie's List, but it is certainly fair. Be sure when choosing a contractor that you not only find out the rate, but also what is included. In my case, the rate was for only the time that was spent removing ice dams and not the time clearing snow from the roof and cleaning up afterwards. Thor spent 2 hours removing ice dams, but almost as much time doing the entire job. Thor gave me valuable information including what I could do to prevent ever needing to call him again (even though I would if I had to) for ice dam removal. He was kind to my kids and treated my house like it was his own.

I originally contacted someone else. It was someone who works closely with Thor, and he ended up being the one who came. The other contractor was delayed due to machine problems, and gave the job to Thor. Once he got there, he was wonderful. He kept to a budget, prioritizing steps in case there wasn't enough time to get everything done for the price quoted.

Thor and Wally removed all the snow down to the shingles from the immediate vicinity of the ice dam and water leak into my home and steamed the ice off of the roof. There was about 18" of snow on the roof that had to be removed and that snow had to be put on my deck. They removed all of the snow from the deck. They also removed a significant extra area of snow from the roof in the general area. Thor and Wally did a great job, shoveled all the snow from the roof, removed all the snow from the deck and performed all the work in a very fast and efficient manner. I'm sure that their quick response saved me from more and extensive damage and more costly repairs.

I found water coming into our home on Sunday afternoon, prior to the severe cold weather. I phoned and they were unable to come until the weather warmed up and the wind subsided which would be Wednesday. They phoned me several times to give me ideas about how to control the leaking and said it should freeze on Monday, which it did. I spoke with them several times between Sunday and Wednesday and always felt that they were concerned about my problem. Thor arrived on schedule on Wednesday morning, took pictures of my roof before and after, shoveled off the snow, removed the ice dam with steam and gave me ideas about how to prevent them in the future possibly replacing the type of vent that was installed by my roofing company. I would definitely recommend them and wouldn't hesitate to phone again.

We had a larger than average ice dam on both sides of the house. The service was prompt and professional. I was particularly impressed to receive such responsive and helpful service on a weekend. I would definitely recommend Thor Anderson to anyone.

Thor did a great job in all respects. He called me back right away after my inquiry and he was able to schedule me for the next day (a Saturday). I had plans that day, so he texted me when he was getting ready to come over - that way I didn't have to sit home waiting for him. He and his partner got the work done quickly and efficiently. They did a great job snowblowing my back patio after raking the roof and told me to be careful of the ice (I asked for no salt to be used.) He even told me how to avoid ice dams in the future and recommended a guy to blow insulation in the attic (someone on Angie's List with 50+ A ratings.) The only thing I would change is that they didn't close the back fence - but I always check to make sure it's closed before I let the dogs out and after people work on the house.

I came home to water dripping into the house, caused by ice dams. Thor Anderson was referred by Doug's Roofing. Thor responded to my call with same day service. He and his associate, Mitch, started by shoveling all snow off of the roof. Then they cranked up the steam machine and melted down the ice dams. They cleaned up all the snow from sidewalks and driveway. Thor kept me posted on progress as well as billable time. He recommended adding more insulation to our attic, to help avoid future ice dams. Thor and Mitch were polite, professional, and very hard-working. I would recommend them to anyone and will call them again with roof snow removal needs.

The job turned out to be relatively small in area, but exceptionally difficult to execute in that the roof was littered with small twigs and branches that had fallen onto the roof and frozen in place. This significantly reduced the efficiency of the steaming treatment. But they stuck with it and got the job done. Thor also explained in great detail what, in his experience, he believed had caused the ice dam in the first place ? even going back up on the roof to run a test that eliminated an alternative hypothesis. We believe his analysis to be correct. He also gave us the name and contact info of a reliable insulator (with whom he has long worked) as lack of adequate insulation under that part of the roof was a big part of the problem. He also gave us a little break in the price. All in all, we were extremely satisfied with his work.

I had arranged with Doug's Roofing to remove snow and ice dams from my roof and to replace one of the heating cables, if necessary. Thor is a business partner of Doug's and he did the actual work. I had expected Thor to arrive early on Sat. December 28th, and was initially concerned when he did not. However, he called me to say that he had been up very late working on an emergency roof leak at a restaurant the night before and that was why he was late. He apologized and then said he would get to my home by 11:00 AM. Thor arrived at 11:00 with another worker. He and I talked and I showed him the areas where I was concerned the heat cable wasn't working. Before he started work, he asked me if I had any plantings near the house that would be damaged by the snow shoveled off the roof. I did not, but appreciated his concern. Thor and his worker cleared the snow off of my roof and streamed off the ice dams. They worked for the complete two hours that they were contracted for and did an excellent job. Thor told me that both heat cables on my house were working, but that the gutters had been clogged, which was probably why the ice dams formed. As part of the roof cleaning, he cleared all the gutters and downspouts on the house. He and his worker then shoveled all the snow they had removed off of the sidewalks, including the path to the backyard which had not previously been shoveled. He told me about an area of the roof where he suspected that a lot of heat was coming from the house so I can look into ways to more completely block heat loss in that area to prevent future ice problems. I found Thor to be very professional and helpful. I was very pleased with the entire job.

He did an excellent job. He came out right away. We would definitely use him again. We were okay with what he charged, although it was a bit more than we anticipated.

I called and there were able to come out within 1 day to remove the ice dam and snow. They did a great job and were very professional. They cleared the snow that fell onto the sidewalks as well.

Thor Anderson Contracting and Doug's Roofing worked together to address the ice dam on our home. It was mighty ice dam! I called Doug earlier today when one of our windows started to leak and knew right away we had a ice dam on our roof that was leaking into the house. I called at 3:30 pm. They were already working on a home in Hudson, WI but said they could come over as soon as they were done with that job. The team was here at 6:00 pm and worked until 8:00 tonight. They removed significant snow and ice from our home and did it in under two hours. We were the fourth house they addressed this problem on today and I am very grateful that they got here as quickly as they did. They were prompt, courteous, professional and left the roof and our deck clean. I was concerned we would sustain significant damage but, with their willingness to come over here and address the problem as soon as possible, I think we will be okay. I can't say enough good things about them and would highly recommend either service provider. Thanks, Thor & Doug!

Thor and Doug did a great job and were very professional. They managed their time well to the estimate to make sure key focus areas were addressed. I felt their pricing was competitive and I felt they had integrity in their work and services provided. I will use them again, and nice to know they provide other roofing services as well.

Thor and Doug were knowledgeable, efficient and pleasant to deal with. They recommended things I should do to avoid future problems and areas I should check for water damage. Much of the snow shoveled off the roof landed on the deck which they cleared off even though we had not shoveled the deck all winter! I would prefer to spend money on something else but if it must be ice dam removal Thor and Doug are the guys to call.

We discovered a leak in the upstairs bedroom, noticed we had a major ice dam on the top of the second story of our home. On Sunday morning we called several companies, Thor was very responsive and came out within a couple of hours. They worked on the roof, removed snow and steamed the ice dam away! Very good group of guys, very professional and responsive - we will use them again for some other things!!

Have hired Thor and Doug (Doug's Roofing partners with Thor's business) twice. Two years ago, we had a severe ice dam on the back of the house. Found them on Angie's List and they did a great job then and steamed away the ice. Fast forward to today...water started dripping through a window frame at the front of the house. We still had Thor and Doug's phone number so we called them right away. They were able to come out the same day and shovel the snow that appeared to be the culprit--no major ice dam this time. Both times they were responsive, curteous, professional and very thorough. We would definitely hire them again and refer others to them.
