Description of Work: Change a regular outlet to a GFCI outlet. Replace a porcelain fixture in the basement.

Description of Work: I had security light fixtures (with motion sensors) installed on the outside of my home, one in the front and one in the back. Boxes, pipes, switches and wiring were all furnished and installed. He also adjusted the lights and sensors and as of today, 8/4/11, everything still works perfectly.

+ -1 moreThe electrician removed his shoes before beginning without being asked-- a sign of courteousness often overlooked by craftsmen. Here in Minnesota this is a custom due to the mud and snow we have in winter. He spent almost no time troubleshooting the problem outlets (burned out receptacles) and only a few hours adding the outlet for the treadmill. Great guy -- pleasant to have in your home.
Description of Work: Added new outlet for our treadmill. Had them troubleshoot existing outlet issues.

He also took a look at a set of three-way light switches I was having trouble wiring up myself and he was able to correct them very quickly. All the house lights are back in perfect working order. Jesse was very professional and a pleasure to work with. We will definitely do business with NEI in the future!

Description of Work: we needed someone to troubleshoot a problem with our circuit in our bathroom and they were punctual, coming right at 7:30am so we could get them in before we left for work. They were thorough and very knowledgable. they found the problem traced it back to an incorrectly wired GSI and while he was there we also had him instal a light fixture at the same time. We will have them back to help us instal a huge chandalier and a new light in our kitchen. We will most likely need two guys to do the huge chandalier in our foyer.

+ -1 moreI called NEI on a Friday morning and set up an appointment for someone to come out the following Monday late morning for an estimate. When I had not heard anything by 11:30 on Monday I called and asked when they were coming and I was told that they would not have time to come out at all that day. No apologies given after I had taken the morning off. When I asked if they could come the next day I was told the soonest they could come out would be Friday.
Description of Work: Nothing - they never came.

+ 0 moreThings always go wrong on a holiday weekend. When I tried to reinstall a light fixture, the electricity went out in the back of the house. Called NEI who I believe are customer service superstars! Left a message on Saturday, asking to call when they open at 7AM Tuesday, my day off. I ended up calling them at around 7:15AM which they appreciated because they didn't want to wake me (nice!). From the customer service rep who sparkled on the phone to Jessie, the electrician who is friendly, patient (answered all my questions w/o making me feel dumb) and quick - it was an awesome experience. Thank you.
Description of Work: Fixed electricity not working in back of house and reinstalled a light fixture.

+ 1 moreTalk about being on time, the technician waited down the street until his appointed time. Chris was very helpful, he made some useful suggestions. There was some confusion about the under cabinet lights and he came back out and installed the lights we requested. When we received our invoice we noticed that they deducted $260 to meet the original estimate.
Description of Work: They installed a ceiling fan in our living room. Wired switches in the new kitchen, dining room and living room. Repaired a closet light fixture. Installed lighting in our kitchen. Installed a speed control for our fan and a nifty dimmer switch for the dining room light.

+ 0 moreJesse arrived on time, was professional and friendly and neat (good clean up). He did a great job. What I liked best was he explained things well. It was all pretty straight-forward except the botched box/switch in the bathroom. I gave a "C" for price because he worked 3 1/2 hours and we paid for 4. Maybe this is standard among companies to charge for a full hour for any amount of time worked into the next hour--I don't know as in the past the company has bid on jobs.
Description of Work: Had wiring done for new light fixture in dining room where there hasn't been one before. (We are going to have our ceiling repaired now so I did not have light fixture actually installed). Jesse installed a new switch with dimmer for this new fixture. He also replaced a dingy old box and switch in the kitchen. A handyman had installed a bathroom fan & switch for it, in our bathroom a few years back and we wanted the switch replaced. Turns out the handyman had done a poor job (not code). Jesse repaired the botched job (extended the box so wires were protected) and replaced the switch. This took some time because it was a mess & of course cost us considerable $$$. Lesson: hire a professional for anything electrical!

+ 0 moreIt went fine. The electrician arrived right on time, and figured out how to do the job (I chose NEI in part because they seemed more creative in how to handle some aspects of the work). The electrician encountered some unexpected problems with large tree roots in the path of where the cable needed to go but he dealt with that. The job was completed in one day as originally estimated.
Description of Work: Installed underground wiring from house to light post about 30 feet from house, including separate switches for the light and the outlet (which is used for a garden fountain).

Top rate electrician. The office staff is also very good. They answer the phone or call you back promptly. Ask what needs to be done and work with you on scheduling.
Description of Work: Installed two hard wired smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, inspected rest of electrical, and answered questions I had on GFIs and other electrical items.

He showed up right on time. He removed existing fixtures and replaced with new light fixtures. The foyer was an exceptional challenge in that it is an open foyer eighteen feet from floor to ceiling. Mark is a very personable and his craftsmanship and professionalism is second to none. We are very pleased with the end results.
