+ -1 moreKitchen microwave needs to be put on separate breaker by itself, to be done later. Both switches replaced in living room entryway area. The lighted fan in the bath had a dead short in the junction box in the attic. So we are very grateful to have had Jesse from NEI electric out here. He very well could of saved us from a potential attic fire. Very professional!!! Thanks

He had to dig a trench to lay new electrical out to the garage on probably one of the hottest days of the summer, yet he continued to be pleasant and cheerful, working hard until the job was finished. + -1 moreDan, the electrician, called and said his first job didn't take as long as estimated and he could be over at 8:30am (original timeframe 9 - 11am). That was just wonderful with us as we had a lot of work to do after the wires were moved. He arrived when scheduled, reviewed the situation, offered solution which we accepted. His work was done in about 90 minutes, and after he was kind enough to answer some basic electrical questions for us. I would definately go to this company again. Electrical work is a bit scary and it's nice to know I have someone I can go to! Scheduling was simple, they were able to send someone out the next morning. And because we found them on Angie's List, they gave us a discount.
Description of Work: We had him move electrical wiring running horizontally through a wall that we were cutting through to make a door way.

+ -1 moreI assumed the failure of the light was due to the fixture. Turns out that the bulbs were not properly installed. Installation was repaired and lights are working. However, the technician noted that the fixtures in the basement are out-dated and bulbs no longer available. Spent time explaining options to address the situation. Although the service call was a false alarm, I felt I got valuable advice for the future while paying for the minimal service visit.

Description of Work: Scott was helpful Our older window AC unit kep tripping the breaker. Dan checked the circuit breaker, the AC unit and the outlet. He validated that the AC unit was running hot and pulling more than the 15amp circuit could hold. We agreed it made the most sense to buy a new unit.

+ 0 moreThe installations was done very well. Due to an outdoor irrigation sprinkler system, NEI had to dig trenches for wiring connections by hand. The light has worked problem-free for over a year, and my wife has contracted with NEI to install another outdoor light.

Not only did he do all of the work professionally and timely, he also took the time to show us how to change to a GFI outlet in other areas of the house. We recently had a brand new peninsula built and new floors installed in our kitchen and asked him to put in an outlet at the end of the peninsula. Instead of drilling through the new floor for the wiring (as the flooring guys said would need to happen), he took the time to rin the line from the wall, inside the cabinets, securing it to the top and encasing it in a metal tubing to protect it--great job. Thankfully, he was agile enough to fit into our attic to run the other wiring needed!
Description of Work: Put in 3 new outlets in the kitchen, replaced an outlet, ran wiring through the attic for cable hook-up in the living room.

He set up, got my light up and also ended up fixing some faulty switches for me. He was very conscious of where my kids were and told me when there were wires they shouldn't be near, which I really appreciated. I was really happy with the whole experience and with Dan's work and clean up! I will definitely call again in the future should I need any electrical work done, and will recommend NEI to friends and family. The price was very straight forward and what I expected it to be. I was given a discount for being an Angie's List Customer. I'm so excited to have my new light up :)
Description of Work: I wanted to move my dining area light 2 feet to the right of where the original chandelier hung and have a flush mount light installed. A new hole had to be drilled and the electric wiring had to be pulled through.

+ 0 moreInstallation went very well in spite of Chris having to somewhat work around all the junk that had accumulated during the years that I lived with a poorly lit garage. I gave the price grading a B because I think some people might think the price for the outcome might be a bit high. NEI does high quality work, however.
Description of Work: We have a two-car size basement garage under our at-grade garage, as well as a small basement workshop. The previously existing lighting was very dim, requiring use of task lighting at times or opening the garage door in order to see. I asked for a quote on installing powerful overhead lighting in both areas. The electrician, Chris, looked at the space, existing wiring, and how I planned to use the space after the upgrade. We agreed on two seperate banks of lights on two seperate switches for the garage, and one large bank of lights in the workshop turned on by two separate switches.

+ -1 moreI cannot say enough good things about NEI and Mark. From scheduling to the completion of the work I felt I got more than my money's worth and now think I have a safe house. Mark was extremely detail-oriented and explained code changes and requirements, made suggestions, and was very meticulous in both making the alterations, showing me what he'd done, and explaining the changes and their significance. I would not even consider using another contractor at this point. This was one of the best finds I have ever had on Angie's List, and I am completely satisfied.
Description of Work: When we bought our new home the inspector found that there were several electrical issues with it, the biggest of which was the circuit breaker panel which was manufactured by a company (now defunct) that had historically caused house fires. I called NEI and scheduled the replacement of the panel, installation of security lighting, and numerous switch and fixture changes. Mark came out and inspected the house. He found a couple of other minor wiring issues (some things weren't grounded correctly) and some damage in the attic caused by squirrels having gnawed wires. He ordered the CB panel (the work took three days total with 24 hours of labor involved) and fixed the other things. The squirrel damage added about 4 hours and supplies to the bill. Mark is extremely contentious and explained everything in detail. He worked very hard and finished the work under the time allotted and under the estimate.

Some of the work looks like it required more than I thought it would, but NEI stuck to the original estimate.
