Molly Mckinney Palettes

Awesome experience start to finish. We were a challenging client in that we were overwhelmed by a large remodeling project in our new house, had no real vision or preferences for colors, had no furniture or artwork to help guide color selections, and had approximately one week to select colors before a painting crew was scheduled to arrive. With great calm and thoughtfulness, Molly worked to understand what was important to us and, room by room, began to offer options for consideration. In just two working sessions, thanks to Molly's considerable expertise, we were able to select colors for the livingroom, dining room, kitchen, sunroom, three bedrooms, hallway, three bathrooms, a finished basement, laundry room, and a mudroom. At Molly's suggestion we painted samples on large white cardboard sheets from the paint store. This allowed us to move our proposed colors around each room to see them more easily in relation to wood floors/carpet/tile, granite, cabinets, and in different types of light. We spent maybe an extra $100 or so out of pocket on this step, but it was extremely worthwhile as it gave us amateurs great confidence in our selections. It also helped us see that a few colors needed to be tweaked or discarded. Molly also provided helpful guidance and reassurance via e-mail as we raised questions while refining our selections at the 11th hour. We are supremely happy with the final result, which makes our house feel much more modern, sophisticated, and welcoming. Molly has a quiet, gentle, patient style that allows you to discover the colors that work for you. Highly, highly recommended!

She was fabulous. She came out and was very well prepared. She had lots of color samples and choices. She was just excellent to work with. Money well spent. She matched the colors I wanted to my cabinets and furniture. She could see if it was too yellow and needed to go another way. I had an idea of what I wanted. I just did not realize there were so many shades of the same color. She was really good with unique ideas. She had some fabulous ideas.

Great - couldn't ask for better service or output. We will use her for any other paint projects we have.

Molly was very responsive to my calls and emails. We met twice (as I recall) and she comes with all the major paint color decks. I wished I had called her earlier in the process...by the time I found her I had about 25 swatches of paint on my house...driven friends and family crazy asking opinions not to mention all the expense of sample paints. She got me on the right track and family of colors I had in mind . She is very enjoyable to work with and flexible. At one point I saw a home that I liked the color but the owner was never around. Enroute to my house she stopped there and met with the homeowner and got all the details on the paint color used. I ended up with something very similar. I recommend a consultation with Molly early in your process to either select the exact color or at least get you looking at the best options. She listens carefully to you and makes good suggestions based on what you tell her. It was money well spent.

Molly showed up on time, removed her shoes and got right to work. She let me show her the house and tell her about my style preferences. Since I didn't have any (I'm lame) we were able to just jump in. I was really pleased with our communication and her work style. She makes you feel comfortable.

Molly is very easy to talk to--a great deal of fun--and quickly understood what I wanted. After she left, I second-guessed her color recommendation on the stairwell for several weeks, but finally went with what she suggested and I couldn't be happier. I am so glad I followed her advice! She was absolutely right! I have yet to paint my living room, but when I do, I will certainly use the color she recommended. Before I paint any other room, I'm calling Molly in to get her color ideas.

I would not have been able to pick the colors without Molly's help. She was wonderful! In a matter of an hour and a half, she was able to help me tie together the stain color for our front door, the siding color, trim color and shingle colors.Molly is easy to work with, reasonably priced, and has a great eye for color.

I really liked Molly from the moment I met her. She was very proffesional, listened to what I had to say, and really took her time looking around. Molly is also a very kind and warm person with an incredible personality. She brought hundreds of paint color swatches but made decisions quickly based on my furniture, paintings, and my input. Molly was so fun to work with. I was afraid the choosing of paint colors would be overwhelming, but she made it fun and easy. I feel like a thousand pounds has been lifted off my shoulders. She was worth every penny and then some. The colors are beautiful and I can't wait to see what they'll look like once on the walls. I highly reccomend Molly to anyone.

It was a good price I spent. The job went okay and I wound up inviting someone else to help me out a little bit. She was a nice person, but was okay.

It was a fantastic experience working with Molly. She took into consideration my belongings as well as woodwork and structure of the house and came up with several recommendations at a time. We would talk more about my goal and feelings about the room and we'd look for just the right match. I felt great about each pick for each room. I don't have an innate sense of color or what would look good. I have difficulty imagining the outcome. She had several techniques to help with that. It was well worth the money spent.

She was really sweet and friendly. She really worked hard for me. I didn't follow her advice but she did a really nice job. She was easy to work with. She was very accommodating and very open to our needs. She was not pushy at all, really listened, and was enthusiastic. She also gave us some good advice on some of the lightnings that I had picked up. I listened to her and made some changes. It was a good experience. The price was reasonable. I would use her in future.

Molly is excellent. She is very prompt, comprehensive and has a great eye for color. After repainting and repainting and repainting walls for several years, just to get the right color, we finally resorted to Molly and we have been very happy since. Her advice is always just what we are looking for. We used Molly several times and will certainly use her again.

We were short on time with this remodel and in need of someone who knew color and how to use it. Molly was able to make her schedule work with ours. We concentrated on the rooms that needed to be finished first. There wasn't much for Molly to go on, no counter tops, furniture, fabric or art, only what I described. She nailed it. Many compliments on the colors and we couldn't be happier with the choices.

I recently had some major work done in my living and dining rooms, including removal of ceiling texture and replacing woodwork, and was going to replace my 20-year-old carpeting. Knowing that in the past my paint color choices didn't always match the vision I had for a room, I wanted to get some help. Never having hired for this kind of thing before, I wasn't sure who to call. Then I saw an article in my neighborhood paper that included Molly McKinney Pallettes. The article included people from my neighborhood that had older homes like mine and they talked about choosing colors that would compliment the woodwork- exactly my situation. I called Molly and we set up an appointment. She came right on time and was so wonderfully friendly I immediately felt at ease- it was kind of like having a good friend over for coffee. She had millions of paint-chip samples from several different paint brands and began to throw out some ideas for me to consider. I always seem to gravitate towards the warm end of the spectrum (oranges and reds) but she brought out a sage green that she thought would really make my woodwork pop. I have always shied away from greens because no matter which one I choose it seems to turn out a bright mint color! Molly could sense my trepidation and found a gold/brown for me to consider as well. Then we went through the carpet sample board to find which ones would go best with either color I chose. She spent about and hour and a half with me and I hated to see her go because it was a lot of fun, and she seemed as excited about it as I was. She left the 2 color chips with me and I showed them to all my friends and co-workers, and almost everyone chose the sage green. It was really out of my box, but I went with it and am very happy with the results and my husband is ecstatic. I just remodeled my kitchen and already have an appointment set up with Molly- I can't wait to see what she thinks. I have included before and after pictures.

Overall, we could not be happier with the color she suggested (and I don't think we would have ever chosen the color she picked out). We would definitely use her again for other room consultations.

Molly saved our marriage! Seriously, she was great. She listened and helped us find colors that worked with our house and our tastes. Wish we had spent the money to have her do every room as we already re-painted ones she did not help with. Worth every cent and then some.

After buying our first home, my partner and I went on a race-to-the-finish painting spree the weekend before we moved in. Not surprisingly, many of our color choices were?um?less than ideal. After living with an overly bright and disjointed palette for a year, it was time for a change. So we sought the services of Molly McKinney. At first I was a little nervous working with a color consultant. Could she be a good color referee between my partner and me? Would she dismiss our color preferences in favor of her own? Would she recommend (gasp!) beige? Starting with the phone consultation, I found Molly to be very thoughtful and professional. She asked good questions and then came over prepared with swatches from our preferred paint vendors. Molly listened to us and helped merge our visions with what would look best in our home. She was very patient and laid-back, which helped us feel comfortable with the whole process. Molly also took the time to explain her recommendations and tell us what she saw in each of the colors. We learned a lot from this and have used her insights in further decorating our home. Plus we got some great recommendations that we wouldn?t have come up with on our own. Molly left us paint chips for each of the colors we chose so that we could easily remember them and bring them to the paint store. In the end, we painted one room right away and are extremely happy with it. For the two others, we've gone a slightly different direction (not a fault of Molly's - we're just a little indecisive!) After a bit of rethinking, we're planning to use one of Molly?s initial suggestions for one of the rooms. I'd definitely recommend her if you are having trouble finding the perfect color for your space. Her services would also make a great housewarming gift!

She listened to my wants and likes/dislikes and was able to pick out the perfect colors for me ensuring they blended well with my house. She is very fun to work with and made it a very pleasant experience. I will recommend her to all of my friends!

We are very pleased with final product. Molly was a pleasure to work with. Allowed us to select colors but then used her expertise to help guide us for proper coordinaton of colors. Also allowed a couple of back up choices to fall back on if #1 choice for some reason did not work out.

Molly spent a couple hours with us walking around the house, asking questions, evaluating furniture, and listening to us. She then helped us select hues and intensities that flowed seamlessly from room to room. She had chip decks for all the major paint manufacturers, and was happy to work with any brand we chose. Then she recommended doing test boards of each selection and to look at them in both daylight and artificial light. The new colors really make the furniture 'pop' and our guests love how the rooms and furniture compliment each other, rather than just having a nice wall color. What a difference from b-s-beige! Now sterile has turned into warm and inviting. The living room was a challenge because we wanted to work with a medium gold. Molly was glad to come back to help after we'd tested three shades and weren't happy with how each looked at night. Molly saved our walls, and me from do-overs if we would have tried to work out the intensities on our own.

Molly arrived promptly for our appointment and went right to work. She was very thorough in understanding what we wanted and didn't push any selections on us. Our contractor happened to stop by at the same time, and the two of them worked well together. Having Molly help us was money well spent. We are very pleased with the end result and and love the new look of our home. We could not possibly have accomplished this without Molly's help.

Very smooth. Molly helped us get a color in an office to match a tile floor installed. The color we all decided on was perfect-yet I would not have ever found it on my own. She makes picking a color less scary. She charges by the hour, but I have spent much more money on paint I have bought and hated. It's worth the investment to get to the right color group before buying the paint.
