They basically called me a liar when I let them know that there were still squirrels in my attic. This has gotten progressively worse. When I replaced the gutters, I asked them to make sure there were no openings for squirrels to get in, which they didn't find. I don't know how the squirrels are getting in, but they are somehow and it's a definite problem. They gnawing I hear is no longer in the walls, but in the closet itself. I don't want to open the closet door to have a squirrel jump out and attack me. I'm afraid they're going to damage my furniture, antiques, clothes, or even cause a house fire.
Description of Work: I first had them out in 2005 or 2006 to remove squirrels from my home. They wouldn't install a live trap in the attic because they wouldn't have access to the house to remove the trap once the squirrel was caught. They only placed the traps on the roof. They were good about removing the traps when I saw squirrels. They determined the problem was taken care of and they placed a patch over the hole. I called them back when the problem continued. They told me I had to remove the shrubs on the side of my home so they could put a ladder up to the roof. They came back and placed another live trap on the opposite end of the house. By the 4th of July weekend of that summer, I called to let them know on Friday night that there was a squirrel in the trap. After repeated phone calls they never came out to remove the squirrel. They were supposed to inform me if the hole was new or old, but they never did. They still billed me for the second job even though the job was not completed.

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY I AM SORRY IF YOU HAD A PROBLEM WITH OUR SERVICE AND IF I CAN DO ANYTHING TO RESOLVE WHATEVER ISSUES ARE STILL THERE I CERTAINLY WILL. MY RECORDS SHOW WE TOOK CARE OF THE SQUIRRELS IN DECEMBER OF 2005 AND AGAIN IN JUNE OF 2006. AS FAR AS I CAN SEE WE SEALED THE HOLES ON 6-29-06, SO I DON'T BELIEVE WE WERE EVEN TRAPPING AT YOUR HOUSE OVER THE 4TH OF JULY. WE REMOVED 8 SQUIRRELS DURING THE JOB WE DID IN DECEMBER 2005 AND 6 SQUIRRELS DURING JUNE 2006. TO MY RECOLLECTION WE DID NOT PROVIDE YOU WITH INADEQUATE SERVICE AND EACH TIME WE DID THE JOB IT WAS COMPLETED AND THE HOLES WERE SEALED.

They were very helpful on the phone and very easy to get a hold of. They were able to come in right away and address the problem with some poison traps. After they left I had some additional questions so I gave them a call. They were very helpful again and told me to call any time.
Description of Work: We hired Critter Control/Laughlin's to address a small mouse problem we had at our home.

It went very well. A guy named Mike answered my phone call right away and talked with me about my needs. He suggested coming out for an inspection in several days, but scheduled the next day when I said the animal noises were keeping me awake at night. The inspector, Brian, arrived right on time, seemed knowledgeable and thorough, and was pleasant and answered all my questions clearly. He was careful to clean up after himself (when insulation fell out of the attic) and not to scratch my hardwood floor with his ladder.
Description of Work: I heard animal noises in my attic, and the company came out to inspect. They looked in the attic and around the house and determined that the noise was caused by bats. Since it's late fall and not a good time to remove bats, they recommended coming back in the spring and said they would apply the cost for the inspection to the cost of the bat exclusion.

I am very pleased with the company. They are always friendly and polite when I call. The technician is knowledgeable and courteous. They show up on time, follow up and make the problem go away. What more could you ask for. If you have pests, give them a call.
Description of Work: I have signed up for the quarterly program. They treat my home four times per year for $133 each visit. They treat for mice, ants, carpenter ants, bees, wasps, and BOX ELDERS! Before I hired them each spring and fall I would be trying to control the ants and I would always lose. I recently found a mouse dead outside of my garage. The service works. I have no pests inside or outside of my house. They even find pests (bees) that I hadn't even noticed and make them go away BEFORE they even bother me. Hooray! If you do find pests, they come back and treat for free (included in your quarterly service.)

I am the Lead Staff Counselor at a residential home for developmentally-disabled men. On the morning of Saturday, August 18th, a squirrel found its way into the house and came through a bedroom ceiling panel. The resident was watching TV at the time and needless to say was very frightened. I called five companies and Critter Control was the only one to return my call the same day. When Josh returned my call he informed me what the price would be. I told him I'd need to get this okayed by the owner of my company and that I would call him back right away. I got the job okayed and called Josh to tell him. He's said he'd be coming from Woodbury and that it would be awhile. Josh arrived and located the squirrel. He tried to catch it but by then the squirrel was pretty scared. Josh left a live trap and said he's be back the next day. The squirrel did not get trapped overnight but when Josh returned on Sunday, and set up three more traps the squirrel did finally go into one of them.

Greg was very courteous when he met me at the door. Upon viewing the location of the bat, he expressed some concern as to how difficult it might be. When he returned with the "Sticky Board" the whole operation was over very quickly. After removing the bat to his truck, Greg returned with the bill. I paid him and then we toured the house looking at potential openings where the bat could have entered. Greg said he will come back later next week to perform an inspection on the exterior of the house looking for bat entries.
Description of Work: Greg entered our house. I showed him where the bat was located. He went back to his truck and returned with a "Sticky Board". I held his flashlight for him while he stuck the "Sticky Board" to the bat and removed it from our house.

No trip to my house, no charge, problem solved. What could be better? And the technician answering calls that day knew what he was talking about.
Description of Work: My problem was a hole being dug by some animal in the middle of the front yard. The same thing had happened last year, but the moth balls I'd put into the hole then were now uncovered. The technician on the phone asked some careful questions, suggested that it was rabbit nesting activity, and helped me solve my problem with no charge.

I had called a maintenance company about patching a hole in my eave and the woman who came out to do the estimate said that it was squirrel damage and I would have to get rid of the squirrels before they could patch the hole. She recommended Critter Control. Though I didn't hear back from them after the first couple of messages I left them, my persistence paid off and Greg came out the day after we talked. He set up two traps and instructed me to call whenever I saw a squirrel in a trap - anytime, even weekends. Every time I called (during the day) he was out to empty the trap within three hours. He was going to be unavailable for a few days in the middle of our enterprise so he sprang the traps so squirrels wouldn't be trapped for days on end. He told me that usually they trap six or so squirrels per nest so we probably had another nest nearby or we were getting a lot of neighborhood squirrels. I have had no problems with squirrels since he finished work several months ago!
Description of Work: I had a nest of squirrels in the crawl space under my roof. Critter Control trapped and removed 13 squirrels over a ten day period (or so) and put a wire barrier over the hole.

They came out and thought it was a rat, so they set traps and put down poison. This went on for a month. After that they thought maybe I would need to get a plumber to find out where the animal was coming from. That day I found a dead squirrel in my basement that had eaten the poison. The men that came to my house were very nice, but I don't have much confidence in this company.

I had called after hearing some noise in the attic. I was afraid it was a squirrel. I called and someone was out the next morning. He found no holes large enough for a squirrel but did find a hole big enough for mice and mice tracks in the snow. He left poison in the attic, basement, garage, kitchen and 3 places outside. He also caulked the hole that the mice had been using. No evidence was found of mice in the attic so I was told they had only been there recently. Overall I was satisfied with the experience. However, I was told that any mice that died wouldn't smell and later told by other people they would. We haven't smelled anything so far but it's still winter. I was a little worried about the safety of the pesticide when I was pregnant but was told there should be no problems. The representative showed up on time and the work took less than 1 hour.

I had a pervasive mice problem. The company came out 4 times, once my son even slept through their knock on the door. I at first thought the price was high, but their customer service and tenacity more than paid for itself through the end of the problem. I'm very satisfied.
Description of Work: The company initially put poison in the tiles of the ceiling in the basement, around various nooks and crannies throughout the house, in the attic and around the outside of the house. They were careful that my pets, squirrels and rabbits would not inadvertently be poisoned.

They showed up 45 minutes late due to a mis-scheduling (their fault)which they apologized about, but did not offer a price break for. The guy who did the work seemed efficient and knowledgeable, and I wound up signing up for their year-round service which includes quarterly visits for insect control and checkups on animal activity. I think this was a good move. We'll be using them for this whole year at least, and go from there.
Description of Work: They placed poison in my attic and around my house in places that my pets (cat and dog) can't get to. Also placed poison in my unfinished basement and a couple places surrounding the house (poisoning was for mice in attic and to stop them from continuing to enter the house).

Perhaps I should call a Pied Piper. The city told me to call a private exterminator. I have not followed up on calling anyone because I was so frustrated. We have not had any more incidents.
Description of Work: We found a dead rat in the basement. Called Laughlin on Saturday, left a message, no one called back. Called Monday afternoon and got someone. He referred me to the city. When I said that I thought the rat got into my house through a crawl space, he told me to call a plumber. When I said that we had caught and trapped a rat in the garage five years before, he told me I was leaving garbage out. I felt like no matter what I said, they were not going to come over to my house to deal with a possible rat problem.

IN RESPONSE TO THIS REPORT, I APOLOGIZE IF THE CUSTOMER DID NOT RECEIVE THE INFORMATION THAT SHE WAS LOOKING FOR. IF THE RAT HAD ENTERED THROUGH THE SEWER SYSTEM, AS IS THE CASE 99% OF THE TIME, WE GENERALLY TELL PEOPLE TO CALL THE CITY TO HAVE THE SEWERS BAITED WITH RAT POISON. IF THE RAT HAD ENTERED THROUGH THE CRAWL SPACE, WE COULD EITHER DO EXCLUSION WORK OR BAIT WITH POISON ON THE INTERIOR & EXTERIOR OF THE HOME. AGAIN, I APOLOGIZE IF I DID NOT EXPLAIN THIS CORRECTLY AND I WOULD GLADLY COME OUT AND PERFORM A FREE INSPECTION TO FIGURE OUT WHATS GOING ON. SINCERELY, CRAIG W. PETERSON SUPERVISOR

He ruled out squirrels (unless they were red) because there was no visible damage to vents or other entries. He gave me some suggestions about what I might hear/observe to determine if there were mice or bats in my walls. He could not tell from the evidence. I was left with two estimates for removal of either mice or bats ($350 and $1100 respectively) and a reminder that the inspection fee was applicable to either cost. The inspector was very nice and seemed to be thorough, but obviously I still have a problem and really no idea how to solve.
Description of Work: Listened to my report of noises and where they occurred in the house. Walked on roof and examined soffit, vents and other potential entries. In total, the inspector spent less than an hour with me.

I called Laughlin's late at night and left a message. They responded promptly in the morning. They came to my home the next day (arrived EARLY), inspected, explained clearly and set traps. We caught a squirrel the first night. We called in and left a message that a squirrel was in the trap. The tech arrived within hours on Saturday morning to remove the squirrel and reset an empty trap. They will keep coming back until no more squirrels are caught, and they no longer go into my attic. They will repair the hole. All this for 1 set price. So far, I am extremely pleased with the service. In addition, we have some mice, ants, and boxelders. They offer a quarterly service contract that we signed up for to take care of these pests. They provide a service I could not do myself for a fair price and the customer service is excellent.
Description of Work: A squirrel made a large hole in the eve of our roof just above the porch. He was settling in for the winter just above my dining room. He was loud. There was no mistaking that an animal was living in my attic.

It was obvious from inside and out that squirrels had made a home in my uncle's attic after he moved to assisted living. I contacted a few companies and chose this one because it had a reasonable ($75) inspection fee, which is applied toward the cost of any work done. A friendly, knowledgeable guy named Greg did the inspection, and he thoroughly explained his recommendations and my options. The plan I chose included live-trapping squirrels until there was no sign of activity. Thank goodness I didn't go with a company that charges per squirrel, because they caught 5 or 6. Afterward, they patched the holes in the soffits--not a great looking solution, but adequate for now. Note that you have to call in the morning to get trapped squirrels picked up that day. To get the last squirrel, they had to set a snapping trap right next to the hole. It killed the squirrel, but left it dangling in front of the house--on a weekend, so the neighbors got to see it for 2 days. Yeuch!
Description of Work: Inspected an old house re: squirrels in the attic crawl spaces. Stuffed newspaper in the holes to determine activity level, and set live-traps to catch the squirrels. After about 3 weeks and 6 squirrels caught, they patched holes in the soffits.

Overall, I was pleased with their service. They quoted a price up front ($365). An employee came over when promised, and set the live traps. They picked up a trapped squirrel promptly, and finally patched the hole. Considering that the squirrel was trapped the first day, it's tempting to consider the price on the high side. On the other hand, they would have had to continue to come out and monitor for a long time if the squirrel had not been caught right away.
Description of Work: I discovered that I had a squirrel entering my house through a hole near the roof. After an unsuccessful attempt to patch the hole myself (the squirrel eventually got back in), I called Laughlin's. An employee came out and set several live traps. A squirrel was caught the first night. I called and left a message for a pick up, and when I got home from work that day, the squirrel had been removed and the trap reset. When they were comfortable that there were no more squirrels getting in, they patched the entry hole.
