KITCHENS MADE SIMPLE

I met with one of the designers who drew up some ideas, she was very nice and took time to work with me until I was comfortable with each room. They e-mailed me the final pictures to do what I wanted with them. They made it clear that I didn't have to have them do the work. I have yet decided what i want to do but I was very pleased with their service and would recommend them.

As mentioned above overall very good work done on a fairly timely schedule. Especially given that all materials had to be hauled around the house [no drive or alley] from the street to the back door through what had been 5 foot deep snow drifts. KMS staff -- two owners on site in shifts. Their crews very good, except for needless tracking of demolition detritus well outside of the work area. Larson Plumbing subcontractor hard to deal with and some work had to be redone. Only major negative experience Sufficient irritation to move KMS' overall score from A to B. American Electric first class, including replacement of 20 circuit panel with 30 circuit panel. Will give this firm first crack at any electrical work in the future. Subcontractors who did taping and sanding and who refinished the newly discovered hardwood floor excellent. Unfortunately did not get names. Ditto subcontractor who installed counter tops. Independently we purchased new appliances from Warners' Stellian. Very good prices. In addition, their crews interacted very well with KMS crews for some tricky appliance installations that neither could have done independently.

Someone was just here yesterday to do the measurements and we're not waiting for the results. We went there and we didn't go back for a while but now we're back with them and so far so good. The kitchen products were of good quality and the person who was here was a nice gentleman, easy to work with and very smart. He was really intelligent and just a nice guy overall. We don't know what we want so we're currently the problem, not them. But they've been really good to work with. I feel like he did well for the money we spent. The only deterrent is that it's probably more money that we planned to spend. They got a kitchen outline sent to us via email and then we went to them in the middle of May and then we let things slip for a while. Then they took the ball back in their court and called us last week and said, "Hey do you want us to take some measurements because you never got back to us." So I give them credit for that and the guy was here yesterday at 9. They're not a problem at all, they're good.

KMS was very good to work with and responsive to our needs. Phone calls or questions were answered promptly. We had a little bit of a delay waiting for the countertops but that was due to Cambria and really out of their control. We are very pleased with our new kitchen and bathrooms.

It went very well. They lived up to everything they said they were going to do. However, we did not end up moving forward with the project.

Charles (Speedy) came out to measure. Great guy who left you feeling good about doing business with his company. Met with Kay on kitchen layout. Space is constrained and she took time to listen to our desires and what works for us and does not. Overall the people were great. Would have liked to have seen a few more creative ideas, but could be the space issue and us coming in with a few thoughts on how to solve our 'problem spaces'. Would have also liked the discussion to have included option with cost comments (ie, you could do 'xx' or a less costly alternative is 'yy'.)

Eventually they just refunded our money admitting that they were in over their heads.

The designer was helpful and willing to listen and do the design and offer opinions as needed.

It went fine. The gentleman who came to my house was nice and the woman who completed the drawings was nice as well. The drawings are useful.

The next week we met with the kitchen designer at their shop. She had the photos and measurements and showed us her rendition of what we wanted on the 3D screen. In the hour we spent with her she discussed what conclusions she had drawn from the installer's interview with us. We discussed the pros and cons of our ideas and the designer was realistic about time and costs. We had a few changes to the plan she presented and decided to meet again in 10 days. She had priced out our options and gave us the estimate. We reviewed that with her and decided while we liked the design the remodel would not be feasible for a year. The designer answered questions about each part of the bid to our understanding and satisfaction. When we do remodel I know that KMS will be our choice..

We met with the friendly and professional designer, Kay, on numerous occasions over a period of 4 months (we were gone for the winter for two of those months.) She provided us excellent ideas, suggestions, and was very helpful and accommodating to us as we educated ourselves and made decisions on what we wanted to have in our new kitchen. We made many changes during this time, and on every change, Kay was there to help us. She pointed out a few planning "mistakes" we had made, and used her wealth of knowledge to refine our ideas so we would achieve the results that we wanted. Kay showed us our computer model new kitchen, and then printed out the computer "model" pictures so we could take then home and visualize how our new kitchen would look while we were still considering many additional details. We finally ordered our cabinets, and then waited for 5-6 weeks for the cabinets to arrive. We worked on other details of lighting and appliances during this time, purchasing our new appliances, moving heating ducts, contracted other miscellaneous jobs like painting the walls and ceiling, installing a new floor, etc. Besides the $21000 we spent with KMS, we spent almost that much more on the flooring, appliances, lighting, bar stools, granite countertops and installation of those features. The people at KMS were outstanding. They were very knowledgeable, interesting, helpful and fun to work with. They were professional and good natured. They knew what they were doing, and they did it well. Rob and his helper, Joe, did an outstanding job of professionally installing our cabinets. We had a couple of small hiccups, and Rob immediately resolved these issues, did want we asked, and we were very, very happy with the outcome, and are proud of our amazing new kitchen. We would definitely contract KMS again if we decide to design another kitchen. Great quality, and a great experience. We were fortunate to find Kitchens Made Simple through an Angie's List offer concerning kitchen design from KMS exactly when we needed them. We would definitely like to compliment and to thank the entire KMS staff who helped us make our dream kitchen a reality.

I purchased their deal of a measure and kitchen design for $50, and I got what I paid for basically. Their kitchen designer had no original ideas of her own. I basically had to tell her what exactly what I wanted and where appliances and cabinets should be placed. Overall I was very disappointed as I was looking for someone who was innovative and could think outside the box and problem solve to introduce new ideas of their own to utilize every square inch of my very small dysfunctional space. If you have a kitchen space that is functional as it is, but you just want some new cabinets and countertops this company may fit the bill.

KMS Associates DBA Kitchens Made Simple turned out very nicely. They were very accommodating. This is the first group who interacted with me within the day. We talked within one day and it worked out fine. They're very fair and friendly.

Overall, we were really pleased with the service and love our new kitchen! Charles, Doug and Rob are a pleasure to work with - no sales pressure and good guys. In fact, their entire staff is great, which is truly what made 6 weeks of a torn up kitchen, and a chaotic, filthy house tolerable. We ran into a few snags, as I think is common with any large project, however they always fixed their mistakes and made good on their promises. Our favorite KMS employee was Tim the carpenter - he is awesome and takes a lot of pride in his craft. We were really glad he was our cabinet guy. I would absolutely recommend KMS to friends and family.

These guys were great. I felt understood, not a pushy sales pitch and really willing to hear me out but provide creative solutions. Several appointments, well worth it. He came and did the measurements (Sorry, I forgot his name.) I went in to talk about the choices and discuss the designs. The computerized drawings were sent to me via e-mail. I missed my follow up appointment. I put it on one calendar and not the other. They had given me an estimate and discussed how I could bring the price down. So, I have the plans and hope to someday do the work. I will contact them when I'm ready to move forward. I plan to eventually do the demolition myself. That would bring the price down, I was assured.

Charles came to the house to do measurements of our existing kitchen. We then met with Kay, one of designers, to review the basic layout of the kitchen and to discuss materials. We then returned for a second appointment to see the final design and receive an estimate. Although we knew going in that we were still quite far off from committing to a remodel, the service provided gave us just what we needed to have a more realistic view of what was possible in our space and what our future budget should be. The experience was very laid-back and enjoyable. When we do get our finances together, we will definitely include Kitchens Made Simple in our potential contractors.

The Big Deal related to planning and design design. That process has gone well.

Well. Received designs and blueprints as expected.

We have no experience doing a major home project, so we went to Angie's list and found five contractors who gave us their recommendations on how to remodel our master bathroom. Two estimates came in relatively close, one contractor disappeared never to heard from again, the last two only wanted to repaint our bathroom and install a new shower. KMS Associates came in and really listened to our ideas. They completely gutted our bathroom (with our approval). KMS designer, Paul, who we liked immediately, helped us visualize what we could do with the bathroom and included estimated costs. His help was so valuable to us. We then began to choose the floor and wall tiles; hardware; mirrors; shower glass; tub; fixtures; and cabinets. Before the project began, we met the project manager, Doug. He's very knowledgeable, organized, experienced and calm. When issues came up, Doug and his team sought solutions that prevented untimely changes and rework. The whole project was on schedule except for the shower glass, which arrived 7 days late. We absolutely recommend KMS for your bathroom projects. The skill of the KMS workers is high and professional. Our bathroom is now a beautifully crafted spa instead of just a repainted, new shower bathroom. Great work KMS. Thank you. Rita and Alex

Charles came to our house and measured the kitchen. We talked about the scope of work, i.e. replacing cabinets and countertops. Soon after we visited the KMS office and met with Kay, the designer. She helped us with the layout of the new cabinets and explained the options for the types of counters and cabinets available for our project. After seeing a 3-D design, we were presented with a detailed proposal. Doug and his crew dismantled the old kitchen and arranged to have the existing hardwood floor refinished while we were out-of-town. Next, Tim installed the new cabinets. He did a wonderful job. Doug coordinated the electrician and plumber for wiring changes and installing the new sink and faucet. Overall, the process went fairly smoothly and we are very happy with our new kitchen.

We were very happy with them so far. When I worked with them I was looking at kind of doing general contracting and that I would kind of be the general contractor on my own project. I talked to them and asked if they had any problem with that and I'm sure they didn't think it was going to be a year from the time we started on the project. I work full time and nine hour days and sometimes I get three day weekends off, so I'm kind of doing all of my own work here prepping. They're very professional and very accommodating. We like their staff and they've always called back in a timely manner. They have come to my house several times and gave me some information so that I could proceed. We have no issues and they've been very good company to work with. It's a smaller company and they're very flexible especially in my case because they know I want to do what I can. They pop in now and then if I have some problems. They'll be coming in the spring to put up the cabinets. I had them out trimming in some of the soffit in my kitchen where I had to modify it and I was impressed with the quality of work of one of their workers. They did the design of our kitchen. They have a girl named Kay working for them and we think she's the greatest. She's a very personable girl and we just enjoyed working with her. I love when I can talk to her on the phone because she makes me laugh and we have a good conversation. They do other work besides working on kitchens. They might be doing some drywall work for me too when I get to that point. They're a great company and I thought their price was fair. We did a little comparison, but when we shop and do things we don't always go for the cheapest price. My wife and I are looking for quality and are willing to pay for it so we don't end up regretting what we've done and it turns out to be a nightmare. The little bit of work they've done for me so far has been quality. They let me do my part of the work so I can save some money and some contractors won't let you do that. I can understand why because if you do a crappy job and then you ask them to come over and put the frosting on the cake and it's lopsided it doesn't look good. I'm pleased with what they do so far.

We bought a coupon from Angie's list to get a full set of plans and design for our kitchen. They came out to our house as soon as we were available and measured the kitchen. A week and a half later, we were able to meet with a designer. The meeting was two hours long, but we were able to work together to create a design we liked and pick out possibilities for materials. Later in the week, they came back with a quote on how much it would cost. They are very transparent in their pricing, which helps my husband and I plan our finances and manage the project how we'd like to see it. During the quote meeting, the designer even gave us a second design based on another idea we had. This one turned out amazing, and they will send us another detailed quote. If possible, I will definitely want to use their services. They were very honest and helpful. Rather than them taking control of things, they allowed us the flexibility to do things as we wanted and as we are able.

Good experience in my home & their office location.

Everything went pretty well. After the measurement we went in to see Paul who had a 3D rendering of our kitchen and walked us through the process and the different options we had with the kitchen. He was very helpful. The only negative thing was that the measurements in the program were incorrect which I let Paul know about. He was very apologetic and fixed it very quick. The whole process was pleasant. It was very nice to be able to show our family what our kitchen could look like on the computer.

BEST.period.GUYS.period.EVER!! From the start, my experience with KMS has been outstanding. FIrst making the appointment for the in-home measurements and the subsequent in-office design session - very friendly staff manning the phones. Then one of the owners (Frank?) actually came and did the measurements. Not a subcontractor, but the owner; that impressed me, again. Besides being very nice, his enthusiasm about doing the design was apparent. He mentioned how often their clients have predetermined ideas and desires which can stifle the creative project, so when I told him the only thing I was adamant about was a having a double wall oven and more cabinets, his eyes literally sparkled! As he was measuring he was telling me some of his ideas - and said he had to stop himself because he could imagine a million different possibilities.... Next, at the in-office consult, Frank was present but it was mostly handled by the designer. He was so accommodating and understanding. I am a person who has NEVER done a major remodel and made in clear that I have "champagne taste on a beer budget", so the designer explained ways that I could save money. And although I have not received the bid yet, he stated that the bid will include highlights of the things that I can either do myself or hire others to do. He also said they would be happy to work with anyone I choose if that is the situation. Finally, I was told he would call me first if the bid was coming in higher than we were aiming for so I could be prepared. To date, I have not received a call, and my bid meeting is in two days, so I'm hoping that means they're within my budget. Which is great, because based on their service, I have pretty much decided to use them at least for part of the work. And I know once it is done and people marvel about my beautiful new kitchen, I will sing the praises of Kitchens Made Simple!!
