FLOORS BY STEVE

Excellent. FBS had sanded/refinished a large kitchen and hall a few years ago (they were referred to me by a friend) and we were extremely happy with the experience. For the current work, we were in a time crunch to get these repairs/refinishing done since subsequent work couldn't begin until then. Lisa came out quickly at my request. She is very professional and knows her stuff. Within days Steve and a helper were onsite. Over the couple of days required to apply finish coats, they did the work exactly as requested. They did a great job in all aspects, and I would hire or recommend them in an instant. In fact, a few months ago I recommended them to a neighbor who had water damage to her floor. She hired them and called to tell me that they were terrific. I wish more service providers were this good!

On time, courteous & quickly responded to a complaint. Owner followed up and offered a complete redoing - declined.

Our experience with him was excellent. We called him back because he did a good job the first time and his prices were reasonable as I recall.

We paid about $6,000 on that work and it was a positive experience. We were getting some other work done in the house too, so he was very flexible and willing to work with our other contractors as far as scheduling to do different phases of the project. We did not have it all done at once and was very willing to work with us as far as the timing, so that was one thing that we really appreciated. He helped us make decisions, gave us good advice and answered our questions. I am sure that their price is competitive.

Overall, we are very happy with the work done and have already recommended Floors by Steve to a friend. The price was fair and came in very close to the estimate, and was finished on-time. The quality of the installation and flooring was very good, the guy in charge of installing hardwood was very particular and had his guys do a few things over when they didn't meet his standards. The floor is beautiful and doesn't squeak. A few notes for future customers: We worked with Steve to start the installation, and he's a little difficult to communicate with. I found that I needed to call him to get information on a few occasions, such as when he didn't arrive promptly the morning of the first day of install. He's also not the cheeriest guy around, so be prepared for his abrupt manner. However, his manner did not affect the work done, the quality, time, or cost. I still recommend Floors by Steve, simply know that you'll want to be in close contact with Steve, and he's a little lacking on charm when you do speak with him.

They were excellent - great work, timing, and professional. It took 3 days for sanding and 3 days for the polyurethane. The floors look fabulous, and they did an excellent job cleaning up all the dust after the job was over.

It went pretty well. I did have to ask them to come back and fix a spot, but they did that right away so I was pretty happy. They were very professional and good about providing details. They made me feel comfortable with the product. They also gave an estimate ahead of time.

Received bid and work started about a week later. Crew was on time and worked every day until project was done.

Awful. First they mucked up the finish and then tried to sand it off while wet -- huge mess. Large gouges in floor in every room from sander. Came back 3 times to fix finish and they couldn't. Steve claimed it was perfect, which it prompted us to pay for a flooring expert to write a report outlining how the floor was laid, sanded, and sealed incorrectly. They left no gaps for expansion anywhere. It took two additional companies (two full re-sanding of floor, two full refinishing processes) and "H" patterns are prolific.

I can't tell you how pleased I am with the work that Floors by Steve did. The floors are beautiful and the people wonderful to work with.

It took them three times to get it right. The first technician removed the barrier that I had taped up, twice. Even after filing a complaint with the project manager. He did a poor job, twice. They finally sent an experienced finisher to correct the work done by the first guy. The second guy pointed out that the first guy did the stair tread wrong and the contractor's carpenter had to fix it.

Excellent service, from the show room to the installers. We were given useful advice about what we should and should not use in a below grade room and ended up with a beautiful Australian Cypress floor. We were very pleased with the quality and the service ... would not hesitate to recommend or use again.

They did an excellent job overall. The project took longer than I anticipated, but probably not longer than they scheduled. They were accommodating to my schedule and professional. The salesman was knowledgeable, gave good suggestions and good advice. The price came in as they said it would. I think the project went well and the floors look great. They would call to give to give me updates daily.

WONDERFUL. THIS COMPANY TOOK THE TIME TO MAKE THIS A VERY CUSTOM JOB. THE ENTIRE CONDO IS 1250 SQUARE FEET AND ALL OF IT IS STUNNING. THEY DID SOME EXTRA CREATIVE WORK NEAR THE FRONT DOOR AND AROUND THE FIREPLACE TO LET THOSE 'STEP OFF' AREAS FLOW INTO THE REST OF THE UNIT.

THEY DID A PHENOMENAL JOB, THE WORK WAS AN A+, GOOD CLEAN UP, AND GREAT FOLLOW THROUGH. THERE WAS AN ISSUE REGARDING THE YOUNG MAN WHO DIDN'T SHOW UP WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD INITIALLY, SO THEREFORE TAKING A LOT LONGER. THE OWNER WAS WILLING TO GIVE ME A DISCOUNT FOR MY TROUBLE.

EVERYONE I DEALT WITH WAS POLITE, PROFESSIONAL AND DELIGHTED TO EXPLAIN IN DETAIL ANYTHING I WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT. THE FLOORS ARE GORGEOUS AND THE CREW DID AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING JOB LIMITING THE MESS AND CLEANING UP.

WE WANTED TO GET THE FLOORS REFINISHED BEFORE WE MOVED IN SO WE WERE ON A TIGHT TIMELINE. THEY WERE ABLE TO SCHEDULE US IN AND HE EVEN DID THE LAST COUPLE COATS OF POLY OVER THE WEEKEND SINCE HE LIVED CLOSE BY. THE FLOORS LOOK FANTASTIC.

LOTS OF CONFUSION WITH DIFFERENT PEOPLE SHOWING UP EACH DAY AND NOT WORKING A FULL DAY. IT TOOK 3 WEEKS TO GET A 3 DAY JOB DONE. THE FLOOR STILL HAS NAIL HOLES THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FILLED BEFORE PUTTING THE FINAL COAT ON. I HAD TO PUT DOORS AND MOLDING BACK ON. OWNER OF COMPANY WAS MADE AWARE OF SITUATION. HE APOLOGIZED, BUT STILL CHARGED ME FULL PRICE! IF YOU USE THIS COMPANY, YOU NEED TO TAKE EACH DAY OFF FROM WORK AND SUPERVISE THEM CLOSELY!!!!

THE WORK DONE WAS GREAT - BUT THEY PUT A BIG STAIN IN MY WHITE CARPET WITH THE SANDER - IT WAS OBVIOUS AND NO ONE EVEN SAID A WORD TO ME ABOUT IT - NOT EVEN A SORRY.

HIGHLIGHTS: SALES MANAGER ATTEMPTED TO RUN MY CREDIT CARD FOR FINAL PAYMENT BEFORE PROVIDING ME WITH A FINAL AND REVISED BILL. SHE DID NOT MAKE SURE THE JOB HAD BEEN COMPLETED TO MY SATISFACTION, JUST TRIED TO GET FINAL PAYMENT WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION. MY IMPRESSION: LACK OF GENUINE INTEREST IN MAKING SURE THE JOB WAS DONE RIGHT AND TO MY SATISFACTION. MET WITH THE OWNER TO DISCUSS PROBLEMS WITH THE STAIRS, SUCH AS ROUGH SPOTS, UNFINISHED CORNERS VISIBLE SAND MARKS, AND UNEVENNESS IN THE STAIN. HIS FIRST RESPONSE: TRY TO CONVINCE ME THAT WHAT I CONSIDERED SLOPPY WORKMANSHIP WAS NORMAL FOR WORK DONE BY HAND. HIS SECOND RESPONSE: CHANGE THE SUBJECT BY REPRIMANDING ME FOR 'WITHHOLDING' FINAL PAYMENT (SEE ABOVE) IN THE END, PROBLEMS WILL BE RESOLVED, BUT MUCH LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM. MANY, MANY PROBLEMS. 'LOST' PHONE MESSAGES, OUTRIGHT RUDENESS MORE THAN ONCE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND OTHER MEMBERS' HIGH RATINGS.

THEY WERE VERY RESPONSIBLE, GOOD AT CLEAN UP AND THE FLOORS LOOK GREAT. THE WOMAN WHO DID MY INITIAL ESTIMATE WAS LATE IN COMING BY BUT WAS PROFESSIONAL ONCE SHE ARRIVED. I WAS PLEASED WITH THE SERVICE. IT IS A FAMILY-OWNED BUSINESS AND I GOT PERSONALIZED SERVICE.

VERY PROFESSIONAL, INFORMATIVE AND KNOWLEDGEABLE GUY. I''M SURE HE WOULD''VE DONE A FINE JOB, BUT HIS BID WAS THE HIGHEST OF 5 WE RECEIVED (RANGE FROM $5700 TO $3900 -- WE WENT TO THE MIDDLE).

THE OWNER ACTUALLY CAME OUT AND GAVE THE ESTIMATE AND MADE SURE THAT EVERYTHING WAS TO OUR SATISFACTION. THE WORKMAN WAS VERY CONSIDERATE AND MASKED OFF OTHER ROOMS SO THAT DUST WOULDN'T GET ALL OVER THE HOUSE. HE WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AND COURTEOUS THROUGH THE ENTIRE PROCESS. IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE.
