I remember when we originally got the service, we had a discount because we were having a three-in-one deal then they took the deal away a couple of months after we signed on. We don't have a super good alternative so we stuck with them.

All three services are part of a package. I am satisfied with their services, but not completely. There are issues once a while, but they are polite, though. Their prices are high. I will continue to use them in the future as I do not have another choice.

I installed everything and they did have good support to help with that. However it has been almost 5 months now and I do not have nor do I believe I will ever have the promised gift card. I have paid for five months of service all in good standing and have been a customer one way or another since 2009. I have made no less than 8 phone calls, twice I have been given wrong 800 numbers to call. Last month I was told it was going to be about another month. High tech bait and switch. My next call will be to the MN Commerce Dept.
Description of Work: I decided to upgrade my cable to the package deal that was being offered, home phone, internet and cable for $99 per month. Also promised a $100 VISA gift card. I hooked everything up myself (had to go back to there store twice for missing parts).

They tend to keep increasing the price every month. Two months ago I actually paid them more than I paid for my gas and electricity bill. I'm really considering calling them up and ending my service and going with another provider.

The service is good; the only thing you would say about the cable company is that the prices continue to escalate over the years. But they are a fine company and I would have fired them if I thought there was a better alternative. I will use them again in the future.

I can't complain about Comcast too much. Their service sounds very variable by location, in my location their service and reception has been great. They seem to have better reception in the suburbs than in the urban areas. They do raise the price on you a lot, but if you call them and tell them it is too expensive, you're thinking about switching service, or you feel you are paying too much, the billing reps will be helpful and help you find a competitive price. I just called them and told them that I am thinking about switching to Qwest because they offer what I have through Comcast for a lot less. The billing rep was very nice and found me a price that is comparable to Qwest's offer and now I don't need to go through the hassle of switching service. Their internet speeds are great. I usually get 20-30mbps even though I am paying for 15mbps service. I have hardly have had any outages and when I have, they have been resolved quickly. When I have called for issues with my service they have been well informed about what is going on. The technician that installed my cable did a good job, but his partner that came later out wasn't as good. He was kind of lazy. But the first guy that came out was great. All other technicians that have come out have been great as well. So all in all, I have had a good experience with Comcast and recommend them if you live in the Shoreview area of the twin cities.
Description of Work: I have had Comcast since August 2008. I had them come in and install all new cables in my home and run a new cable out to the telephone pole.

It took a while for them to install it. The first guy couldn't figure out what to do. After about two hours two other guys came and it took them a while to figure out what to do. They didn't really put it in the spot we wanted. A supervisor actually came out 3 or 4 days later and redid it and it was fine. We would recommend asking for an experienced installer to do the work in the future. The price was fine. We probably wouldn't use them again but they are the only choice in this area.

This has actually been going on since we moved to this place in June 2009. Despite the fact that the wires are all buried and everything is less than 8 years old, we routinely either completely lose service or have severely degraded service. This usually manifests itself with slow or unavailable Internet, or with the supposably superior "Digital" TV being unavailable or fragmenting and hiccuping with the sound cutting out on a continous basis. We have called numerous times and had probably close to a dozen service techs come out to the house. The techs are always show up between 8 am and 6 pm as promised (what ever happened to "noon to 4pm"?). The techs are very professional and crawl all over the house and the connection to the street. They always comment on the high quality of the connection and cannot explain why we've had so many problems except that it must be an issue with the neighborhood connection on the street... which they do not diagnose, it requires a special ticket and a different team to do "street work". I've heard this story several times. Now, I relish the opportunity to pay for the privilege of sitting at home all day, burning a vacation day when the Internet and TV aren't working as much as the next guy. This morning, everything was down again and they were having an issue at work (I'm a tech-geek). Natually, Comcast was offline again, no TV, no Internet. After verbally talking a coworker through how to fix the issues, I decided to call Comcast and try to get results again. The service person had me go through the usual TV calisthenics, unplug, plug in, send a reset, pull the plug a second time, change the channels, schedule a service call... for tomorrow between 8am - 6pm (naturally). I escalated the call to a supervisor. While waiting for the 40 minutes to talk to the supervisor, I decided to drive around the neighborhood and see if there were any Comcast trucks around or any boxes that appeared to be tampered with. Nothing like doing their job for them to kill some time. I explained my situation and that I had not been getting results, despite the numerous times I had been visited. Also, I asked if the main line was being looked at and she responded that only the techs that visit the houses can look at the main lines (which is exactly the opposite that I've been told on at least 8 occassions by different service techs). I asked, given the nature of how many times I've had problems if there was a priority queue I could be put into, or if she could raise the issue to a higher authority so that it would be looked into. She sweetly replied that there was no such "priority" queue, but she would certainly send an email to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area to bring the issue to their attention... (right...) Natually, she could not "BC" me on the email. I had similar issues at my previous residence. They were simply resolved by switching to Qwest, which, by the way, has excellent customer service on the rare occassions when you need it (they actually came out on a SUNDAY!) Sadly, I cannot yet play that card at my current location.
Description of Work: Internet and Digital TV down... all the time. Pray you never need help.

We had people come out more than once without the necessary equipment and they were not able to do the job. Finally they did get it done but it was after much hassle.

I am not wild about Comcast, but there is not another choice for internet. I signed up under a special promotion. I have had this for three years; it seems like every six months they raise the price. My daughter told me she was paying less money than I was for the same package. I feel like their advertising is dishonest.

The cable service through Comcast is average but it's the only option in our area. I can't say they do a bad job but I can't say they do a good job either. The cable installation went fine and the signal is good. I do think they charge too much but it's not outrageous. I wouldn't say they deserve a bad review but I don't think they should get a good one either. They're just nothing special. If I had other options I would try them but since I don't it doesn't matter.
