Description of Work: I switched from DSL to cable. They installed a new cable line from the service pole on the back of the property to a new junction box on the house and then into the basement where the line was connected to existing cable line. I configured the modem myself, but the service tech was helpful and stayed on the property until the service and internet speed test was confirmed.

I was 100% pleased with Time Warner's Roadrunner service, and their cable TV. Comcast took it over and promised great things. With RoadRunner the system only went down twice and for a short time. Comcast has gone down more times, and longer, in the short time they've owned it. There have been email problems, Comcast locks out certain ISPs from time to time. I can't use Comcast email with my soaring club's email list. I've had to set up a Gmail account just for it, which has it's pluses and minuses. Comcast deleted a channel or two (I miss AMC) on their premium basic cable TV. Overall, I wish I had Time/Warner Roadrunner back, just when I had an excellent ISP, Comcast had to screw that up and raise prices. But they're not too bad. Way better than DSL. In fact, I got rid of my home phone line and just use a cell phone now, saving $50 a month. I don't miss my phone line at all.
Description of Work: Comcast took over Time Warner/Roardunner cable TV and cable Internet service. Reluctantly, I had little choice but go along for the ride. The price increased, as expected, shortly after the acquisition.

My Time-Warner service has switched over without a hitch and continues at the same high level of reliability, but it looks like the switch caused some billing glitches, since I got a non-payment notice a week before the due date on my bill. But it's a good service at a good price.

We had 3 different people visit before someone who knew what they were doing said what my husband had suggested all along, the first person to install our digital system left exposed wires so they shorted every time it rained.

Installation was painless. We have had occasional hang-ups over the past couple of months but nothing like the problems we had with Qwest, and the connection is much faster. We haven't had to call with a service request after 1 year of service. The monthly fee is expensive, but it's worth it to have reliable, always-on, most problem-free internet access.

We have had them for over 5 years. They are usually very reliable. The speeds keep on increasing. The one time we had on and off outages for over week, they came over and found a problem with their line and fixed it within a day. Appointments are annoying because they do not give an exact time but rather a time range. But overall satisfied with the service, and will continue on.

I went through Comcasts website to sign-up. I even spent time in an on-line chat with a Comcast rep. Even though they had asked me what operating system I was running on my computer, not once did they tell me that they would not install high speed internet on Win98. When the installer arrived, he stated that the only way I could get high speed on my computer is if I signed up for Comcast Cable TV first, then I could install it myself.

Excellent high speed internet service with very good technical and customer service. We also have their basic cable television which is reflected in the monthly fee indicated above. Installation of the broadband cable was very easy, the installer scheduled around our work schedules and did a great job.

It's the best you can get for residential. Sure beats DSL. Though, I sometimes feel like they are over-charging me. I need high-speed connection for work and they deliver. Really only had one outage in last 1.5 years, but it was a nation-wide Comcast thing (their DNS servers went down for 30 minutes). They always address problems promptly. Only thing I don't like is them slowly raising rates over time.

I was an early adopter of Tivo, and for many years, I was able to use my Tivo with the Comcast cable box. It wasnt perfect, but it worked 98% of the time. When my cable box died, they replaced it with a newer model that was incompatible with my Tivo. Not willing to live without a DVR after 6 years addicted to mine, I decided to try the Comcast digital cable box with DVR. It was the buggiest, worst designed piece of consumer electronic equipment I have ever owned. It would mute and the controller would not be able to unmute; it would stop displaying the picture; it would tape only the first 5 minutes of a show; most problems could only be solved by turning the box off and on, or completely unplugging it, or resetting the box, which would screw up anything that was currently taping. Needless to say, I turned it in and Im now using satellite, although I still have cable Internet with Comcast.

The installer was very professional and did an excellent job. He replaced the old coax cable with new, higher quality cable. He also did a very good job of running the cable along the outside of my house. The service itself is fine, I average about two MB download speeds. I think the price is way too high, but Comcast has a monopoly so there's really no other options. I paid $15 less per month for the same level of service in Minneapolis with Time Warner.

They havent been the greatest, but in our area it is the only cable provider. The equipment they originally installed didnt work correctly after a few weeks, but they did replace it for free. I do love the dvr feature and the on-demand programs. On the whole I would say that I am satisfied with their service.

Poor, very poor! Didnt check to see if cable access could be obtained on any of my three TVs; none of them work with my remotes. Were supposed to also set up my home phone, couldnt because I wanted to keep my same phone number which as stated I could keep. Ad for "Bundle and save" very misleading. I recently had Dish TV, wish I wouldnt have changed. Now I have to waste anther day waiting for them to resolve issues.

I think we are on the fifth cable TV/dvr box in 7 months. Each time we exchange the box, the next one has a different set of problems. They havent been able to provide us with one that works, but did sell us a $50 signal booster that didnt do much. Customer service tries to be helpful, but I think the problems are with the equipment and thus out of customer services hands. Our internet is okay, it doesnt have the speed all the time. There are times when it is very slow.

I ONLY USE COMCAST TO GET ON THE INTERNET, SO I DONT USE THEIR EMAIL OR WEB SPACE SERVICES. HOWEVER, THEIR NETWORK ACCESS HAS BEEN SPEEDY AND NOBODY ELSE IN THE AREA (SPRINT PHONE IS THE OTHER HIGH SPEED OPTION) PROVIDES THE FAST UPLOAD SPEED THAT COMCAST CAN. IN PAST EXPERIENCE, THE TECHNICIANS CAN BE HARD TO WORK WITH OVER THE PHONE IF THE SERVICE IS NOT WORKING, AS THEY HAVE SCRIPTS THEY ARE REQUIRED TO PERFORM BEFORE ESCALATING AN ISSUE. MY MOST RECENT CALLS TO THEM HAVE BEEN SCRIPT-FREE, SO I THINK THEY MAY HAVE STARTED TO ALLOW THEIR TECHNICIANS TO BE MORE FLEXIBLE. I PERFORMED A SELF-INSTALL OF THE MODEM TO AVOID PAYING A FEE FOR SOMEONE TO INSTALL UNWANTED SOFTWARE ON MY COMPUTERS. IT TURNS OUT THAT SELF-INSTALL USERS ALSO HAVE TO INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE INITIALLY. THE SERVICE ITSELF IS GREAT, BUT THE SUPPORTING PARTS OF THE SERVICE LEAVE A BIT TO BE DESIRED.

THE AT&T DSL SERVICE WAS FINE WHEN IT WORKED, BUT WHEN IT DIDNT, THE OFFSHORE TECHNICAL HELP WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO UNDERSTAND AND SEEMED TO HAVE LITTLE NOTION OF HOW THEIR PRODUCT WAS USED. WHEN A COVAD GUY CAME AND LOOKED AT MY WIRING, HE SAID MY NEIGHBORHOOD CENTRAL PHONE SWITCHING OFFICE HAD A HARDWARE PROBLEM. ID ALREADY TAKEN HALF A DAY OFF TO LET HIM INTO MY HOUSE, AND THEY STILL DIDNT FIX IT. THEY WANTED ME TO TAKE MORE VACATION, SINCE THEY ONLY SERVICED ACCOUNTS DURING BUSINESS HOURS. THATS WHEN I DISCOVERED THE $200 EARLY EXIT PENALTY. ITS A BETTER SERVICE THAN ANOTHER SERVICE, BUT WOE BE UNTO YOU IF YOU HAVE ANY DIFFICULTIES BEYOND SOME MISTAKEN ACCOUNT SETTINGS.
