David went above and beyond to ensure that our project was completed on time. He was very professional and made sure that we were happy with the end product. Our floors had a number of stains, splintering and laminate flooring covering a portion of it, all of which David was able to remove and restore like new. Dave did a great job. We went on vacation for 2 weeks and it was all done when we returned. Dave is easy to work with and will resolve any issues. I had him come back a couple of times to do some repair work that was not his fault. Once when the toilet was put in there was an unnoticed leak which damaged some boards and another time when a burn mark was put on the floor. The repair work was excellent.

David is professional, hard working, pleasant and considerate. His price was reasonable. He was on time and completed the job beautifully. He cleaned up each day, which was appreciated. We provided nothing except the flooring. David came well prepared with everything he needed to finish the job. David clearly has a great work ethic and takes pride in doing his job well. If you are looking to get your hardwood floors refinished, look no further. David did an excellent job on our floors to bring them back to life. Found hardwood under the carpet at our home and decided to take up some parquet squares that were laid as well as put a hardwood floor in our kitchen. David was able to blend all the old hardwood floors with the new floors to make the whole upstairs flow and look beautiful. He also finished our steps going downstairs to match the oak upstairs. Very pleased with how everything turned out. I’m a tough customer and after inspecting the floors with a fine tooth comb, I found one spot with a poly build up (very small) and one floor board got chipped in the process. I circled back with David and he found time in his schedule to come back and remedy those two spots and now everything is spotless. I’d refer David to anyone, he is a great communicator and made sure we were on the same page prior to moving forward with anything. Very pleased with his customer service and professionalism, couldn’t have asked for anything better.

David and his crew did an excellent job installing, staining and finishing our natural hickory floor on the main floor of our house. When we noticed a minor flaw, David came back to fix the issue without hesitation. We were very pleased with his work.

He uses high end products and does all the work himself. We requested the job be done in two stages and he agreeed. The floor sanding, staining, and varnishing is fantastic and left very little dust in the rest of the house. I would use him again.

We had previously hired David to complete a wood floor project and happened to ask him if he could possible work on another project we needed help with, cutting down some doors after carpet installation caused them to stick. He again showed up on time, promptly fixed our problem (when two other individuals previously couldn't), cleaned up after himself. We could not be more pleased.

We hired David Illi in September 2017 to install refinished hardwood flooring (Java walnut) on the main level of our home. The job included removal of existing wood flooring in the kitchen and hallway area and removal of existing carpeting. David also did subfloor preparation for the new flooring. The size of the job was over 1,000 sf. David was the sole contractor. David worked with us to move furniture around as he installed the flooring. We were pleased that we didn’t have to move our furniture into the garage in order for him to complete the work. There were some tricky issues with replacing the wood floor in the kitchen with all of the existing cabinetry and with moving appliances, but he handled those issues well. As we completed a couple of other remodeling projects in our home with another contractor, David worked closely with this contractor as he did the floor installation. David was meticulous in his efforts to provide smooth transitions where needed. At our request, David replaced the landing tread (at top of stairway) so that it would match the rest of our flooring. Being unhappy with the color match of the landing tread sent by the flooring supplier, David took it upon himself to take wood samples to the flooring company so that they would be sure to get the right color match. We can’t speak highly enough of David and were more than pleased with the quality of his work. David is intelligent, hard working and professional. He takes the time to do the job right. When he encounters a difficult situation, he will go the extra mile to find a workable solution.

David Illi was hired by us to refinish our hardwood floors in 3 rooms and a hallway. He did a fantastic job start to finish, beginning with an expert's experience with the sanding machine. Our floors were sanded smooth without any signs of unevenness or sanding disk marks which can happen with a hurried, or an inexperienced sanding machine operator. David explained our options regarding the proper floor sealer to use and helped us decide what level of sheen would be best for the top coats. A few floorboards were missing on a floor that we did not plan to sand and David was able to add new wood pieces and match the finish perfectly to the existing finish. Overall, it was a very smooth experience and we would certainly hire him again.

The installation went well. Although he was booked solid, he squeezed us in to his schedule. The floor looks great and a job well done. Thank you David.

David kept his initial appointment to view the job. He made some good suggestions, and prepared a bid on the spot. I took about a month to make my decision (vacation, etc.) When I called and emailed David to say that I'd like to hire him, there was no response. I waited a few days and tried to contact him again. Never heard back from him. I think David suffers a malady of many in the construction industry---poor communication skills. Beware of contacting such people. If you do hire them, will they keep a schedule, update you with any progress reports, or even be available to talk? Fortunately, I found another guy who was responsive and did a great job.

We were extremely pleased with all aspects of the project. We were on vacation when David Illi installed the floor. It was very nice to not have to try and live in the home during the construction. We felt very comfortable leaving the project in his capable hands. David's attention to detail is very impressive. He does not cut corners and he looks at how the floor will be used in the future using methods that will integrate with future potential remodeling. He took the time to explain his approach and why he chooses the materials he recommended to us and he answered our numerous questions. The final product looks like it was original and ties seamlessly into the existing floor in the hallway. We will enjoy it for many years to come. We are not carpet people and it is a huge relief to us to have the carpet out of the house; we were not good at taking care of the carpet. David's bid was not the lowest bid, but we were confident that the quality of his work was worth the additional cost.

David is a pro! We moved into the house 1 year ago and wanted the carpet removed in the basement family area and one small bedroom. David determined that there was asbestos tile under the carpet and saved us a great deal of trouble and also health problems! Also he worked with us to find the best method and the best underlayment and laminate flooring to use. After the abatement service come in, David did the work beautifully, in the time period given, and was very neat. This is our second experience with Illi Hardwood and Flooring and we could not be happier. We have having him back this winter for more great work on our basement bathroom floor.
