Description of Work: Company response was prompt. Our water heater broke on a Sunday and they called back within a few minutes. They arrived on time the following day. Work appeared to be done with good quality workmanship. Unfortunately, the installed water heater has locked out because of a faulty sensor on a couple of occasions -- probably the machine and not the installer.

gas leak repair
+ -1 moreI called Paladin to set up an appointment to look at the stack in a house that I recently purchased. Yesterday I had an energy audit and the auditor pointed out a significant odor of methane in the upper level near the stack. He was concerned about a possible leak. I spoke with Jerry at Paladin who suggested that the smell may just be a result of the extremely cold temperature combined with the negative pressure set up by the auditor with the blower door test. He suggested I check it again to see if the smell is still there. I think he was right - there is no longer an obvious odor of sewer gas. So I believe Jerry saved me the cost of a home visit. We will monitor the situation, but I appreciate his honesty in diagnosing the issue in such a way that it would not result in any personal gain. I will definitely call Paladin with future plumbing needs.

+ -1 moreI made an appointment with Craig and he agreed to honor the price he had quoted months earlier, even when I didn't have it in writing and he said it was less than he usually charges. He arrived on time, took off his shoes to prevent tracking in dirt, and had everything done in about an hour. He worked very quickly and cleaned up after himself.
Description of Work: We had an old electric stove and decided to purchase a new gas model. We needed a new gas line run across our unfinished basement. Craig had quoted a price on a previous visit to my home when he fixed a plumbing issue.

+ -1 moreThe service call went great. I ruined a bathroom faucet trying to replace the cartridge to fix a drip. I quickly got in over my head and called Palladin for advice and help. They advised that I would most likely need a new faucet. I was nervous about replacing the entire faucet because the supply pipes were extremely short and I wanted to add shut off valves for the fixture at the same time. Paladin came out and installed shut off valves and the new faucet the same day I called! They also fixed a kitchen faucet problem by repairing the existing faucet.

+ -1 moreWe had what appeared to be a shower leak in our upstairs bathroom that was producing water stains on our ceiling downstairs. I contacted Jerry at Paladin Plumbing to come out and take a look. My suspicion was also his, that the drain gasket in the shower was leaking. Jerry said to know for sure he'd have to open up the ceiling to take a look, but given where the spot was in relation to where the shower drain was, he was 95% sure it was a gasket leak. He said he didn't want to open up the ceiling just to find out it was indeed the gasket and cost us even more money to have to repair the ceiling. We went ahead and had the gasket changed, and sure enough, that was it. No more leaks, and Jerry saved us a lot of money by not ripping up our ceiling in the process, which my wife and I are very happy about. While he was there, he also installed a new shower head on our shower. It had a flow restricter on it, which we did not like, so Jerry came back at a later date to remove it for us, which was great! Working with Jerry was wonderful. It's nice to have someone who cares about their work and doesn't try to nickel and dime you. His estimate was right on, and even took the time to answer all of my questions, including one about our water heater. We'll certainly have him do any plumbing for us in the future.
Description of Work: Looked for leaks from our shower, replaced shower drain gasket to stop leak, replaced shower head and removed the flow restricter in it.

+ 1 moreFirst, Jerry arrived within 12 hours of my call for an estimate. He followed up with a bid within 24 hours, and we hired Paladin to perform the work. Craig arrived about two days later to start the work. He completed everything on the first day, then Gary Wincek showed up to do the cosmetic repairs on the wall and flooring. Everything went great!
Description of Work: Paladin performed two separate projects for us within a week apart. The first project involved the tear-out, removal and replacement of a shower unit for our upstairs master bedroom-including sheetrock wall and vinyl floor repair after the new unit was installed ($2,100). The previous shower drain cracked, and water was leaking onto the drywall ceiling of our main floor den, so the plumber checked all piping to insure no further leaks. Paladin sent Gary Wincek (Wincek Construction) to perform the drywall and vinyl flooring work (see Wincek Construction & Remodeling for a good report on Gary). The second job involved the repair of a leaking tub faucet in our upstairs guest bathroom. We had guests arriving for a weekend party, so I contacted Paladin. Craig responded within an hour, and we scheduled the job for the next morning. He repaired the leak and replaced old fixtures (tub and shower unit) with new ($200-includes $80 new fixtures we needed for the job). We had two days to spare before guests arrived. We are very happy with Paladin.

I called to find out where he was and received a call back immediately advising that he was held up at his last appointment and that he would be late. He was apologetic, but it sounded as if at the last appointment he was having to deal with an emergency leak. He worked quickly on all the items I asked him to complete, went out to get a part that he needed, and didn't charge me for the travel time. He finished everything in very good order and cleaned up everything. He gave me an extra $20 discount because of being late, and told me he would come back to install a new faucet for a very good rate if I wanted, since he didn't have the appropriate part to really fix our kitchen faucet. He was pleasant, efficient and fair, and I wouldn't hesitate to call him again or to recommend him.
Description of Work: We have recently moved into a new house. Craig un-installed the existing dishwasher and installed a newer one that we brought with us. He fixed a leaking sink trap, worked on a leaky faucet, and fixed a loose sprayer nozzle. He installed a new cartridge in a bathroom faucet, and fixed the dryer exhaust connection to the outside of the house that had come loose several times.

+ -1 moreJerry Olson and Craig Johnson are both outstanding persons to have in your home. I first called Paladin Plumbing because of the company's excellent reports on Angie's List. I did not know Jerry's name from the reports I read, so I asked Jerry about that. The answer was a little like "the brains (Jerry) and the braun (Craig)" given in much good humor. After you meet both men, you know they both have plenty of what it takes to be excellent and fair professionals. I could not believe how much work Craig did during the very long time he was in my home in respect to the amount he charged me, I highly recommend this company to one and all.
Description of Work: Jerry Olson, Partner, was my initial contact by telephone. He came out to my home to evaluate a water pipe leak under my kitchen floor. I live in an older one-level town home that was built on a slab. A "slab leak" is hard to get at as it involves breaking up the floor and concrete and digging a hole until the pipe is found. Jerry is very knowledgeable on the physical components of the job and the paperwork type details that are required for an insurance claim I am filing. I felt quite sure this was the right company to hire after meeting with and talking to Jerry. We had no idea going in how large a problem I might me dealing with and Jerry discussed best and worse case scenarios with me. Craig Johnson, Partner, was the man who came out to do the labor, and labor it was I assure you. He had to jack-hammer and cut and dig to locate the pipe two feet down. The pipe fix was difficult due to the pipe's depth and angle, and took more than one try and quite some time. Fortunately, my leak turned out to be from a single kinked pipe that was installed that way many years ago when the house was built. Craig kept at the job tirelessly and got the pipe fixed and the sod returned and compacted back into the hole in the floor. Another person recommended by Craig came out later to put in bags of asphalt and level off the concrete. This part of the job IS included in the total amount spent that I listed.

+ -1 moreGood. Toilet is working much better now. I also wanted him to unclog a drain in my bathroom sink. When I made the appointment, I was told that they don't normally do clogged drains, but they would look at it to see if there was something they could do. He did unclog the drain for me, and fixed the stopper which wouldn't stay up very well. I was grateful that I didn't need to call someone else for the sink. I didn't really get an estimate and I didn't really have anything to compare the cost to. He was here about 1 1/2 hours. He deducted 15 minutes for the trip he needed to make to the store, so that seemed fair.
Description of Work: I had a toilet that wasn't flushing properly. It needed a couple of new parts that he didn't have with him. He went out to get them and came right back to complete the job.

I had meetings I had to be in at work and asked if they could come after 5:30 or Saturday morning. They came Saturday morning. He was about 45 minutes late, but that was ok since he was coming on Saturday morning when other plumbers could not come until Monday. He did a great job on the phone of explaining what he thought it was and then after he fixed it he showed me the part that was broken and explained the issue. He fixed it very quickly and was a very pleasant guy.

They came exactly on time the first visit, due to an emergency at another clients, they called ahead of time to let us know they would be an hour late, and came exactly when they said. They were very efficient and very courteous. They cared about their work impact on our house in terms of cleanliness. Very professional in knowing exactly how to deal with the problems. The owners also discussed options and explained how they would deal with the project very thoroughly. They even addressed a side issue that came up with no additional cost. They left with little cleanup on our part. Very good people to deal with overall.
Description of Work: Replaced hot water heater, replaced valves to laundry water supply, replaced valves and re-plumbed outside water line that was put in improperly by a previous contractor.

Description of Work: We had a water leak under kitchen sink and could not identify the source. Craig Johnson showed up promptly and shortly identified the source as being the sprayer hose o-ring. He was very personable and quickly fixed the problem, indicating that if it began leaking to let him know immediately. He also solved another problem we had with our outdoor faucet. Several years ago another plumber fixed some broken valves for us and then installed the city required Sillcocks on outdoor faucets. The main faucet "locked up" causing potential freezing problems in pipe so we closed the valve. It appears the original Sillcocks were the most expensive available! Craig removed the offensive piece and replaced it so now we also have the use of that outdoor faucet.
