After the Angie's List coupon the three jobs cost $155.00, including the price of the flapper. The bathroom faucet is 50+ years old and was not completely fixable, but Craig went out of his way to bring it to a workable state at no extra charge to me. Craig was on time, easy to work with, and was also able to give me advice about some other problems around my house. He took his shoes off when he came inside and clean up was minimal after he left. The work seems to be done well and I feel that I was treated entirely fairly. I have no complaints with the service I received. Based on my experience I would recommend this plumber highly.

The experience with Paladin was absolutely outstanding. I could not give them a higher recommendation! I needed to install a new water heater, but needed to have the gas line modified by a profecssional (as required by insurance and city/state code!). Jerry was very cooperative (as I am relatively handy with a torch), and he worked with me on managing my installation relative to his arrival to modify the gas line. He saved me a 'redo' by speaking up and noting there was an issue with how the original heater was hooked up. His pricing was very fair and he made the whole experience quite enjoyable with his very pleasant, helpful demeanor. I STRONGLY recommend anyone looking for plumbing in the Twin Cities area to CALL THESE GUYS. You won't regret it!!

Both the initial assessments and the job went well. We've been satisfied at every step.
Description of Work: We initially consulted Paladin ~1 year ago regarding a vexing water heater situation. At that time, Jerry conducted a careful assessment and made appropriate recommendations. Now, finally ready to do the work, we again contacted Paladin. We are pleased that Jerry came out to update and review the situation before proceeding with the job. Jeremy and another worker replaced the water heater and upgraded a water faucet control.

Our house is about 22 years old. There is a sump pump pit (?) in the basement laundry room floor that has always been dry. In July we noticed that there was water in the pit. When we removed the water the pit filled up again immediately. It wasn't an emergency so i contacted Paladin Plumbing via email at the contact email listed on their website (it was the middle of the night). I immediately received an email response stating the person I had emailed was out of the office. The email listed when the person would return and would check emails and it also indicated another person I could contact within their company and gave me a phone number and email address. I emailed that person with a brief description of my problem and my location. First thing in the morning I had an email response stating what times that very morning they would be able to come out and check out my problem. Craig showed up on time. He was very courteous, kind, and patient in answering my questions and explaining my options. We needed a sump pump installed. He told me how much the job would cost and explained to me that Paladin Plumbing does not bill by the hour, but rather, by the job. He told me when he thought he could complete the work (the very next morning) and told me he could call me or email me later that day to confirm the exact time. He worked around my schedule and was considerate of me, my house guest, my small child and my large German Shepherd. He completed his work quickly and efficiently. I'm pretty sure he left the area cleaner than it was before he got there! He took his time to explain to me what he had done and how it would work. I believe the pricing on the work done was very reasonable. Craig's professionalism stood out so much that I would not hesitate to recommend Paladin Plumbing to ANYONE needing plumbing work done. I've already got a long list of things I want Craig to come look at next. Excellent company! I couldn't be happier with my experience.
Description of Work: Installed sump pump into existing sump pump pit (?) and ran discharge pipe. Left work area cleaner than it was originally. :-)

He arrived on time and worked very quickly to get everything done. In replacing the floor drain, he was in an odd spot as it was under the furnace but he was able to get it done and it looks good. He also checked and fixed a leak with the ice maker and provided advice on an issue with the dishwasher. Overall, it was great service and it the floor drain was done $240 cheaper than another estimate.

They needed to switch the appointment to the following day from the original day, which worked better for me, and they gave me 2 days notice. No problems. Craig arrived on time and hurried to get the job done within one hour so that I would only have to pay the one hour rate. I appreciated the consideration. Besides the toilet installation he also did the hot/cold water switch. He was personable, tidy and gave me the Angie's List discount. He looked at the rust around the sink drain and said that it would be a long time before it would rust thru and would not be worth the effort. After the weekend, I noticed that the toilet was leaking from between the tank and the stool. Called them back on Monday and he came out on Wednesday morning. He informed me that if we had bought the toilet from them that it would have a full warranty, but since they/he hadn't told me that previously, and since I was an Angie's List member, he didn't charge me for the return visit. I appreciated that as well. The toilet has not leaked since he re-installed the tank (4 wks at this writing) so it seems to be fixed.
Description of Work: Installed toilet that I purchased locally and disposed of old one. Corrected hot/cold water switch on bathroom faucet that existed when we bought the house and installed shut-off valves for each (hot & cold). Gave advice on rust stain around sink drain in same bathroom.

I had a good experience with Paladin. We played a bit of phone tag to start with, but when Jerry couldn't get ahold of me he left a message with detailed information of how to contact him including e-mail. I followed up via e-mail and they scheduled an appt. to come out and look at the potential work. After reviewing the project, Jerry gave me a flyer detailing the back-up pumps that they used. He then sent me a quote via e-mail within a day or two. After getting quotes from a few other companies, I decided to go ahead with Paladin. They were highly rated on Angie's list, came with a neighbor's recommendation, and had the best price for the project. When they came to do the work, Craig and Troy came out. Troy started on the pump while Craig looked at the drippy faucet. Craig determined that the faucet was likely not faulty, but was rather dripping because of the design of the faucet---which allowed a bit of water to build up in the faucet spout, that then drips out gradually rather than just stopping. He didn't want to charge me for work that wasn't needed so I decided to keep an eye on it and make sure it didn't get any worse. He did not charge to me to look at the faucet. Then Craig joined Troy to install the pump. The process went quicker than I thought it would. When the work was complete, the work area was clean and Craig showed me how the back-up alarm and battery charging system works. He also told me how long the battery should last and where I could go to replace it if needed. I was also able to use an Angie's LIst coupon. Overall, had a great experience.

When he arrived he discovered the leak was in the main water shut off for the house. He replaced the old crank shut off with a new easier shut off. While he was here I mentioned that my sump pump wasn't working. He discovered that the float was just stuck, he reached in and unstuck the float and then made sure the sump pump was running properly.

They had a variety of discounts, including one since I was an Angie's List member and a senior discount. They did an excellent job, they came quickly and completed all the jobs in about an hour. Very professional, efficient and great value for the service provided. Having gone through a very bad company in the past it is very refreshing to find a company that works to gain your trust as a consumer. I highly recommend them!
Description of Work: I called about an old sump pump that was shorting out. The initial call provided all the information that I needed including the approximate cost of replacement and the brand of pump to be installed. I was even asked how I found them (Angie's List of course) and was given the discount they offer through this site. An appointment was made and the technician arrived exactly when he was supposed to.

After speaking to several plumbing/sump pump companies, I selected Paladin Plumbing. They did the work 3 days after my initial email and their call back to me. Here's what happened: 1. On the phone, the owner Jerry was very personable, helpful and knowledgeable about sump pump replacements, which I needed. 2. I wanted a back up type- and he explained pros/cons of different types. Jerry immediately emailed me info about the types and their costs. 3. I selected the battery back-up with alarm. 4. Craig, the other owner came to install the replacement sump pump and noticed that my old sump pump drain pipe was only 1" in diameter (way too small and would cause any sump pump to overwork and burn out- which mine did) What was so terrific about Craig was that he immediately problem-solved and he installed a new much wider drain pipe from th sump pump to the outside. (He did not charge me for the pipe or time to install it because "it went so quick!") 5. He tested the sump pump 3 times. He showed me how the alarm works, and how to turn the alarm off. He was extremely helpful and enthusiastic about the entire installation process. 6. This company is beyond excellent, responsive and knowledgeable -they made the entire process a pleasure from start to finish plus I had the peace of mind knowing that these guys are thorough. I enthusiastically recommend them to anyone who wants their sump pump work done right!

Jerry was great. I have a working, but aging sump pump. With all the rain this spring, I had begun to think about replacing it as a preemptive measure. I spoke to several plumbers who gladly gave me a quote. Some proposed getting a new pump while others suggested battery backup systems. Jerry, however, took the time to ask about the situation, the environment in the basement, etc. By doing so, he was able to save me a lot of money. He explained that my current pump still has life expectancy left. Given that my basement is unfinished, I don't have a severe risk that would necessitate a battery backup system. He inspected my current pump and plumbing, and provided me with a spare Hydromatic pump to have "on the shelf". He showed me how to easily swap in the new pump when my existing one eventually fails. For my needs, this was the best way to mitigate a pump failure without spending much money. What impressed me most was the way he was interested in solving my actual concerns rather than just responding with a quote. He was very professional and knowledgeable and I'll definitely use him again.

We are near the top of a hill and have never heard our sump pump running. Our basement got flooded by surprise on a Sunday evening after several days of hard rain. We found our 25-year-old sump pump not running, and got it to run for a couple of days before it died. More rains were expect the next weekend, so we did not want to chance getting water in our basement again. We emailed Paladin Plumbing on a Tuesday evening and they called on Wednesay morning to set an appointment for Thursday morning. By Thursday noon we had a new sump pump. It sits lower in the sump pump pit than the old one, so it turns on sooner, keeping us drier.

I really liked them and they also gave a fair price. I got their contact from Angie's List and they also have very good reviews on Angie's List. They were knowledgeable about the product and were those people who truly understood the kind of system that I wanted. I needed a system which is self-contained and it's called as the direct power vent system but the other companies that I called were not all that familiar about this system. They said that they had to check and get back to me but this guy from Paladin was aware of what I was talking about. This system that I wanted is a little too expensive for a water heater but then I wanted this system because this is a direct power vent system and is very efficient power water heater. It cost me around $3000 and people think that it's a lot of money but it's a big deal for me because it's a specialized water heater which is small and compact. It is not the tank type system but is a very efficient system and is self-contained so there is no risk of back trapping. It brings in the air that it needs and also exhausts the air that it needs. The tank type gives me 50 gallons but the power vent gives me more than 250 gallons of water so I will never run out. I knew that this was going to be an expensive system but I wanted to go with this system because I didn't want to risk back trapping and I usually use the water heater in a higher CFM band. Paladin is a small company and the guy that I spoke to was very knowledgeable about all the systems that were out in the market. He also helped me explore the system that was going to work best for my circumstances. They got back to me quickly and they came out when I needed them to come out. They worked with my schedule at times when I needed to work with my contractor's schedule because I am having my home remodeled but they were very accommodating with my schedule. I used another company a long time ago for hot water system and ductless air condition system and I think Paladin beat them by $400. They were absolutely wonderful.

First thing I did was call Angie's List - of course! (Thanks yet again to Angie's List.) I quickly located Paladin Plumbing, which sounded like an excellent company. When I called at 8:00 am, I talked to Jerry and he told me that Craig was in the neighborhood and could likely schedule an appointment that same morning. He contacted Craig, and then called me back within minutes to confirm that Craig would be over between 10:00 and 10:30. That was a pleasant and unexpected surprise. Craig arrived at 10:30, found the problem, gave me an estimate, and began work immediately. He expected to be done within the hour, which he was, and he gave me a discount for mentioning Angie's List. Craig was great! Professional, fast, punctual, and very nice. I've found my new plumber! I would highly recommend Craig, and Paladin Plumbing. Word-of-mouth is how they have built their business - and I can see why that's working out so well for them. High quality work, fair pricing, honest, punctual and professional. I will be spreading the word!
Description of Work: Fixed a leaky pipe under the bathroom sink, the cold water line had a pinhole leak. That doesn't sound like much, but it was a very steady drip since it was spraying water out between the joists of the wall....which then ran down and dripped into the basement. The repair required the removal of part of the back panel of the vanity, as well as some drywall behind that. Luckily the necessary removal was minimal - and it was done cleanly. A shut off valve and 4" length of related pipe were replaced.

I had a leak in the sump pump pipe between the exterior and interior walls and had water leaking into the basement family room. The pipe was NOT easy to access, the location of the cracked pipe made the job difficult. Craig took on the challenge and accessed the pipe to make the repair with very little drywall removal. I had originally thought that he would have to tear apart the ceiling and wall to access the pipe, but Craig is an experienced plumber and knew what to do and did it correctly, quickly and with as little mess as possible. He also installed two sets of shut-offs under sinks that were lacking the shut offs. I have used this company a number of times and they are truly the best of the best. Craig has been here a number of times to fix an variety of plumbing problems and I have always had great service and the job is done in a timely, professional manner. I would recommend them highly to anyone.

In the evening of February 28th, our old water softener was due to recharge. Upon going to the basement the next morning to do laundry, my wife found a good deal of water on the floor from the over filled brine tank. After having cleaned it all up, I checked Angie's List and found Paladin's ratings and knew who to call. Brent, the service man came out and determined that the old softener was not worth repairing. I then contacted Jerry (the owner) and was given two options for a replacement softener for our old 2 tank system. He recommended the all in one cabinet style as it would take up less space and be less costly than another 2 tank system. This morning Brent returned to remove our old softener and install our new softener. Brent was very friendly and didn't mind at all answering questions and chatting with me a bit. He also was very efficient and knew exactly what he was doing and even cleaned up after himself and removed all the packaging from the new unit. The price included the new softener, removing and recycling our old softener, and even 2 bags of salt pellets to get the new softener up and running!
