The project went well. I'm considering him for another job
Description of Work: The contractor insulated and wrapped the pipes in the attic of my house. He was clean and did the work that he promised. During the next winter I experienced ice jams. The contractor came back to inspect the job. He found no problems but did agree to insure that there was proper air flow in the eve vents by removing the aluminum soffit and enlarging the hole.

We ended up sticking with the original company since they had a legitimate excuse. So this company did not do the work.
Description of Work: We called them because another company whom we hired did not show up. They encouraged us to wait and see if we might hear from the other company first before they came out. I thought it was very professional and respectful of them not to take another company's business away without giving them a chance to explain.

Brian Lewis is outstanding!!! I found Brian here on Angie's List and was delighted with his work. Brian and his team are very detail oriented, do their job perfectly and clean up 100% after they are finished. I called several of the bigger guys listed on Angie's List and found Brian's prices to be unbeatable. Don't waste your time calling around...Lewis Insulation delivers Tiffany quality work at a Wal-Mart price.

Brian's crew was nice but I'm not sure if Brian isn't simply a great salesperson. I'm still waiting on materials receipt which he begged-off at time of pmt. saying he'd mail me an appropriate receipt instead of adding the details to my origional quote. I'm feeling a bit uneasy now/how much and what exactly went into my walls? 10/28/2009 Received insulation receipt.

Brian showed up on time for the estimate and was very complete in explaining the details of the job. They were prompt in coming to do the work, they were careful, covering the floor and cleaning up. It rained a little while they were here and they made sure they did not get my floors or the insulation materials wet. Most important, they did a very thorough job including showing me what they had done. Brian went back over the work to ensure that everything was done correctly. When he found one place that could use more foam sealing, he promptly fixed it.
Description of Work: Blow fiber glass insulation into attic to R-50. Foam seal by pass areas, lights, pipes, etc. Add insulation to rim joists in basement Miscellaneous sealing.

Just bought a new old house. Tried to contact Brian through web form but that didn't work. Called him up and was very responsive. Scheduled an estimate and the work, both times showed up right on time. Work was done well and reasonably quickly, about 3.5 hours for a 1100 square foot attic. Cost was reasonable for the work done. Brian and his helper left no mess in the house and appear to have done a very good job (I'll find out for sure this winter with my heating bill). Final bill was slightly higher than estimate, but one extra duct was insulated and the bill was only 3% over the estimate.
Description of Work: Added fiberglass blown insulation to my attic, added exhaust duct to bathroom fan, insulated exhaust ducts, sealed air bypasses. House had approximately 5" of insulation before, finished with around 18-20".

It went great-Lewis Insulation gave us an excellent price to insulate the attic. When we got an energy inspector in a few weeks later, the inspector found that some of our air vents from the A/C were still leaking cold air into the attic. Brian came back in an instant to fix this, without any additional charge. Great service!

Brian was very honest. He came to my house on a Saturday for a quote and informed us that given the upstairs heating problems we had there were better options for the cost than additional insulation. He was a pleasure to work w/ and very, very honest.

Brian came out to provide an estimate, went over the things he thought needed attention, and the process. He explained what material he thought was the best and what we might save in the future. He worked with us to get the work scheduled when we had other things being completed or started at our home. The crew arrived on time, answered my questions and did a great job of cleaning up. There was a minor problem with one hose rubbing on a newly painted wall, and to the credit of his crew, reported my concern to Brian. Brian made a special trip to come and assess the issue, which wasn't a big deal, but the fact that he came back to make sure we were satisfied says a lot about his concern for the customer. I would recommend this company and will hire them again for any future insulation jobs (walls). As a side note, the crew found an original insulation log in my attic and originally there were 4" of insulation installed.
Description of Work: Our home was built in 1959 and in need of insulation as well as work to correct attic bypass.

I had Brian come over in February to get me a quote to perform the work. I told him I probably wouldn't have the work completed until fall and he was more than willing to wait. We just weren't sure where the price would come in at and when we could afford it and I felt like Brian fully respected that when I told him at the time of the quote. He did a great job communicating with me over the summer. I called him in August to touch base on when we could get on the calendar. He was prompt to call me back to get the appointment on the calendar and he held to the quote though it was completed 6 months prior. Brian and Ryan came in, laid dropped clothes down and talked to me about the work that was to be performed. They worked quietly and quickly. I was able to take a look to see what they did as well. They did a great job cleaning up after themselves as well. Both Brian and Ryan are clean and friendly.
Description of Work: Blew fiber glass insulation into house attic, to an R50, 875 SF total. Put in 6" vent chutes between rafters (total of 35) and foam sealed bypass areas. Wrapped bath fans as well. The quote came in at $1130, paid $1105.00.

We called Brian to get an estimate, and since we were heading out of town on vacation, he asked if he could swing by our home and create an estimate while we were away. (We said yes, since it was all based on outside work.) He then created an estimate when he promised and then worked with the siding contractor to coordinate schedules. He and his crew worked hard to complete a high-quality job.
Description of Work: Brian and his crew blew in insulation into the wall cavities of our house after the siding was torn off and before the new siding was put on. He worked with the siding contractor for the right timing, and he was very informative about what they were doing and how the insulation took.

They were the lowest bidder with a better product (fiberglass). The other bidders proposed cellulose insulation, and were more expensive. Lewis arrived on the job on time, did the work in a few hours and thoroughly cleaned-up before leaving. They also pointed out a defect in the ridge vent that had been previously installed. I was very pleased with the entire job.
Description of Work: Installed 40 eave vent chutes, foam-sealed heat bypasses and added fiberglass insulation to the attic to R-48-50 (1200 square feet).

Brian and his crew were very professional from the estimate to the work day. My wife commented that Brian was very sweet when he came to give the estimate as I was not there. I received regular calls regarding my appointment and scheduling. His equipment is in great shape and he is very organized. They were on time and did the work as described very quickly and effectively. They laid drop clothes and cleaned up after themselves. I expected to have to vacuum a lot but it was taken care of. He will be returning to install 2 more intake vents for no charge as he ran out and wanted to make sure the attic was breathing right. I had estimates from 2 other contractors and they were all higher than Brian, his rates are competitive, he installs great product and does great work.
Description of Work: I have had terrible moisture and ice dam problems over the last 2 years. After some investigating I realized I only had 4 inches of insulation in my attic. I had 18 inches of fiberglass blown into my attic, all bypasses replaced and sealed. 3 roof vents installed and all intake filters replaced as well as a couple added. They also removed a whole bunch of plastic, garbage and kiddie pools from my attic.

Brian was fantastic. I called him and he immediately gave me a ballpark quote over the phone. He came out to take a look at the job the next day. Recognizing that we were heating an insufficiently insulated garage, he then squeezed us in as soon as possible, which we really appreciated. He worked quickly, his price seemed fair, and we're very happy with our experience with Lewis.
Description of Work: The attic above our garage needed to be insulated, as we had just installed a garage heater and that contractor told us the garage attic wasn't insulated. The walls were, but not the ceiling.

From other reports on Angie's List, Lewis Insulation seemed to have a two to three week wait for work to be done, a shorter time than some of the insulation contractors. I was fortunate that he had a cancellation and two days after we initially talked, my house was being insulated. They seemed to work efficiently, explaining what they were doing and taking pride in the job they were doing. I felt it was how they would have been insulating their own homes. They returned after the roof was on to cut in the soffit vents. Do not be put off by their St. Michael address. Unless their policy changes, they are willing to travel throughout the metro area, in my case, twice.
Description of Work: Insulation was blown into the main house attic to a R-48. In the side attics they needed to pull the floor boards up to blow insulation, replace the floor boards, and then blow over twelve inches of high quality insulation. They installed several vent chutes and insulated access points. They insulated spots I did not think they would be able to get to. Brian suggested where to have the scheduled roofers put additional roof vents. After the new roof was on, they returned to install soffit vents.

I got Brian's name from a foam insulation company at the Home and Garden Show. I gave him a call and he came out the next day to do an estimate. He explained all of the things he would do and gave me the estimate. It seemed like a fair price, so I called him the next day to set up the work and to request copies of his insurance and license. These came in the mail within two days. We set up the date for the work. He was right on time with his nephew. Did all the work in the estimate. He realized halfway through the job that there was more insulation in one portion of my attic than he thought. He informed me and adjusted the bill accordingly. Great to work with.

JOE DID THE WORK HIMSELF WITH ANOTHER MAN. THEY WERE VERY PLEASANT TO DEAL WITH AND THE ONLY COMPANY (OUT OF 5 ESTIMATES) THAT SEEMED TO HAVE A CLEAR SOLUTION FOR THE INSULATION AND ACCESS PROBLEMS. THEY WERE CREATIVE AND WILLING TO GO THE EXTRA MILE. VERY PLEASED WITH THE WORK AND EXPERIENCE.
Description of Work: REDID INSULATION THAT WAS DONE POORLY PREVIOUSLY. THE HOME HAS VAULTED CEILINGS MAKING THE JOB VERY DIFFICULT. PUT IN NEW CHUTES AND MADE SURE THEY MATCHED UP TO THE SOFFIT VENTS, CAULKED AND WRAPPED AROUND PIPES, BLEW IN FIBERGLASS INSULATION AND REPLACED AND ADDED SOFFIT VENTS.
