They gave us the best deal for the services they were rendering. They were able to amend the deal to include the foam insulating the perimeter at a very attractive price. This company is very professionally focused and the work team was very polite and cleaned up after themselves. I felt like they did a very good job.

Brian came out promptly to perform the estimate. He recommended having an energy audit done which was being offered at a discount through our natural gas provider. In addition, the audit would allow rebates for the work performed, and would provide important details about air leaks into the home, etc... The installers came out and performed their tasks, were professional, and we are very happy with the work. Just want to point out that the main installer did a great job, and is a great asset to Lewis Installation.

The job done will be passed to others in need of quality insulation work . All personnel involved are professional and as neat as insulation work can be.

I'm so glad I got a third bid for this project from Lewis. Theirs was the least expensive, and the process worked smoothly from beginning to end. I especially appreciated their good communication throughout, as well as afterwards with completing energy rebate forms. I recommended them to my next-door neighbors, who also hired them to do their attic insulation, and that resulted in a gift card for me as a thank you for the referral. (This was in addition to the gas gift card that comes with the Angie's List connection.) They also offered a discount on the upcoming vent work since they had had to change the date of my work due to employee availability. I am noticing a difference in furnace operation/heating efficiency, and am hoping to see this reflected in upcoming Excel bills.

Brian Lewis came to the house to identify causes of uneven snow melt on the roof and ice dam formation. He recommended some repairs and full attic insulation as the current level did not meet code. He provided a detailed estimate for the work. He also suggested that we schedule a full energy audit with the gas company, which we did. The audit recommended that we have a ceiling fan installed in one bathroom. After the energy audit, we sought estimates from two other insulation providers. We decided that Lewis Insulation offered the most expertise and best price. The company also arranged to have an electrician install the fan prior to the insulation work. The work crew came to the house two weeks later and completed the job. At our request they came back two days later and reassessed heat loss, which had reduced substantially. They also provided all the documentation we needed to claim a rebate from the gas company.

Brian answered all my questions - got me a bid via email by the end of the day. Nancy and I communicated about scheduling and billing - very quick to return my voicemails. Crew was very professional and very courteous - took shoes off before they got the drop cloths down, cleaned up afterwards, even vacuumed! Explained process and made sure I saw exactly what they did. Very refreshing dealing with Lewis Insulation - no wonder they are so busy!

I hired this company to do an infrared scan of the house to spot heat loss leaks and make an estimate of repairs. They did that and were competitive. The estimate was done in writing and well itemized. They arrived at the agreed time and completed the repairs in a professional manner. They were respectful of the house and cleaned up when finished. All in all, it was a great job and I am satisfied with their work and have recommended them to others in the neighborhood.

Guys arrived on time. Checked out space to work on and spent a few hours blowing in additional insulation. Rooms that were previously a bit cold are no longer cold.

Brian Lewis came out early in the morning to look at attic. He provided a formal quotation later that same day via email. After accepting his bid, we scheduled a time in early January (about 4 weeks in the future). His crew of 3 arrived promptly at 6:50am. They carefully laid out drop clothes prior to initiating work. All 3 men prepped the attic in the morning. After lunch, one man continued to seal areas in the attic, while one stayed in the truck (to fill the hose with insulation), and the other blew insulation. They completed the job by 3pm. Brian Lewis stopped by after lunch to check on the work crew and give me an update of the progress. One thing I really liked was how they kept in touch after the job. Since Lewis Insulation works closely with Centerpoint Energy, Lewis Insulation knew the 2013 rebate forms were still being printed at the time of their work. As a result, they sent me an email the following week letting me know that the new 2013 forms had arrived and my completed rebate paperwork was in the mail. Lewis Insulation filled out the CenterPoint Energy rebate paperwork, which allowed us to apply for a $500 rebate based on their work. Brian Lewis also provided a $25 Angies List discount. Between the rebate and discount, the final out-of-pocket expense for the insulation will be $1855. Centerpoint Energy estimates the annual heating/cooling savings to be 17%, which if accurate, will be a quick payback period.

We hired Lewis Insulation to insulate our attic. We have a 1&1/2 story, so we needed the west facing attic, east facing attic and roof peak insulated. Brian came to give us an estimate on the work, and right off the bat we knew that he had experience. Especially when we compare other bids we got from other companies. He was able to work with us to keep a storage area in our east attic, while not totally loosing out on insulation. He also will be working on filling out the paperwork for us to get a $300 dollar rebate from Xcel. 2 of his employees came promptly early on the morning of the day scheduled, they completed their work on time, and cleaned up the area. They laid drop clothes through the path of the home, and were courteous telling us when they were going on break. The work included, prying up the floor boards to insulate between the subfloor, increasing ventilation by adding vents through our soffets, blowing in insulation in all attic areas, sealing off and installing foam on the doors to all attic openings, and installing foam board in the area that is storage (instead of the blown in insulation). We apprciated the cleanliness, price, and flexibility. Due to the weather, our job also includes 2 roof vents being added on the west facing side of the house, but that was not done due to icy conditions. This is set to happen in the spring.

We did not receive the quote by email until today although Lewis Insulation has assured us it was sent out on 12/10/12 and again within the last week. I greatly appreciate the quick response we received once it was noted that we had not received the quote.

See above complaint. I did not use the service. I paid $75 for an estimate that I got free from another company.

For well over a month now, I have been working my tail off to clean up my super-nasty, long-neglected basement and turn part of it into a "game room" as a Christmas "surprise" for my husband and son. They know I'm cleaning and that something's going on down there, but they don't know what the final result will be. On Thursday, Dec. 13, I contacted six insulation companies via email and/or internet forms about foaming my joists and part of the exterior walls. I had measurements ready to share. I was doubtful anyone would be able to fit me into their schedule the following week. As it turns out, four of the companies would have been able to fit me in. Nancy called me within an hour or two of submitting Lewis Insulation's online form. She set up an appointment for Brian to take a look the following morning. Brian was the only contractor that came out to take a look; the other bidders went off of my measurements. Brian was quick and efficient with his assessment. He finnagled his schedule to fit me in the following Friday (today!). Brian returned again yesterday afternoon to check up on the situation in my basement and prepare instructions for his crew. He explained what they would be doing and indicated that we should be out of the house during the spraying and for a recommended period of time afterward. Steve and Will showed up this morning and were ready to work by 7am. They were courteous and friendly...perhaps even jolly. :-) Steve and Will took about an hour to prep the work area and then informed us when it was time to begin spraying. They laid large pieces of foam under the tube from the truck, even though the ground's frozen and there's snow cover. Steve called my cell phone when they were finished spraying. About an hour later, I returned home to lock my door and check on things. I left again and kept my family out of the house until later in the evening, returning once more just briefly to receive a shipment. The off-gas odor still lingers (12 hours later), but doesn't feel intoxicating. At my request, Steve and Will left all of my basement block-window vents open, and I'll be keeping them open with a fan running for another day or so. My only disappointment is that the outlet boxes and the loop of excess Romex at each box were not masked. I was under the impression (from Brian's visit) that they would probably be masked, though I did not confirm this with the crew when they began working. If I hadn't run out of prep time myself, I probably would have wrapped plastic baggies around them myself. Ultimately, this does not affect my appreciation of their work and their willingness to fit the job into their tight schedule. (Lewis Insulation pops up as the most highly rated insulator in my area, and I think they're pretty busy as a result of this popularity on Angie's List.) It was not difficult to twist and scrape the cured foam from the Romex loops to get them moving freely again and took only about twenty minutes of putzing. (I had eleven outlets roughed in.) I mention this so that you can take the initiative to do your own masking on items that are within the work area or be sure to spec it out as part of the work plan. The crew protected everything outside the work area very well. I am utterly pleased with the results of the job. Already, the whole basement has a different feel. Time will tell whether this will finally put an end to my home being the preferred destination for rodent conventions, but I am already quite certain that our energy use and comfort will be positively impacted. Spray foam is pricey, but I think it really is the way to go with rim joists and old block wall basements. As an aside, Lewis's bid was the lowest of all six proposals I received. Others here have mentioned that Brian has a minimum charge for set-up. I think this is an effective pricing model for foam work. It ensures the preparation costs are covered, and then fairly prices the cost of the foam. I requested bids with options of rim joists only, rim joists plus 2 inches on walls, and rim joists plus 3 inches on walls as options, and comparing all the bids reveals that not all companies are pricing with this model. It seems the most fair to me, both for the company and the homeowner. I am also extremely grateful that Brian didn't completely blow me off after witnessing the state of my basement during his first visit. I had already been working for weeks to clear out the Mountain of Mess (really, I can't even begin to explain what a disaster it was), but I still had a long way to go (several sleepless nights working 'round the clock over the last week) to clear a sufficient work area around the exterior walls. I appreciate that Brian had faith in me to pull it together. I so wish I had done this (and my attic sealing/insulation) many years ago. People, do NOT hesistate to weatherize your space! It makes such a difference in livability in these older urban homes. In the era of rapid climate change, this is one of the smartest ways to spend money.

In house estimate, excellent job by Arne actually looking at the attic and being the only person who provided an estimate for the job who actually told me of a concern in the attic and made arrangements to have fixed very cost effectively. Removal of ceiling of garage sheetrock and insulation, bagged up and removed all debris. Foam insulation installed in garage area. In attic corrected bathroom vent, blown in insulation in attic area. Build new attic access door enclosure. They guys did a great job, they put down tarps to reduce dirt and debris tracking in house. Then they vacuumed when they were done. They were very hard from start to finish. They were polite, professional and respectful.

The company did an excellent job, they were not the least expensive company we looked at but they did everything they said they would do.

He gave me an estimate for the amount of insulation he said was needed. He seemed to know his stuff but didn't take much time to explain much.

I purchased this service in June of 2011. After some delay, Brian Lewis, the owner, came out to do the actual quote, with an estimate of $900. for insulation, foam sealing bypass areas and the installation of 6' vent shoots, if possible. After additional delays (apparently, these Angie's list deals are popular and sometimes the service provider has trouble keeping up!), the work was performed in November. The two fellows arrived on time, blew in the insulation and I sure hope they did the rest of the work as well as I was unable to check on what they were doing because of the location of the work. They did an OK job of cleaning up insulation that escaped and were done in a couple of hours. The added insulation seems to have made a difference in heat retention on our second floor.

Great job, everything was on time and we have really noticed a difference in our home temperature loss.

Lewis insulation did an excellent job...we look forward to the savings this winter. The bid process was painless and took less than 30 minutes. On the day of the job, they showed up about 10 minutes early (we didn't know it) and prepped all their equipment. They were READY to start the job right on time. They were professional and completed their work quickly. We had one small issue (one of the lights that was to be sealed was not sealed) but they were terrific to work with to resolve the issue and never made any excuses, they simply addressed the issue and let us completely satisfied.

Comapny representatives arrived at home on time, were very professional. They quickly, but completely explained the services they were going to perform. Inspected attic and assessed the condition of insulation in home. Price for service was worth the dollars spent. Would certainly use Lewis Insulation again in the future.

About a month before the deal expired, I called to set up a date for Brian to come out and give us an estimate. I didn't realize he would be booked solid that entire month. However, he honored the deal, and squeezed us in for a 7:00 a.m. appt. on the last day. He did his estimate and then told us he was booked out with other jobs for awhile, which would give us a chance to have a Center Point home energy audit done ... the audit cost us $100 but we received a $300 credit toward his insulation services. He wouldn't have had to tell us about that, but we were sure glad he did! When his crew came to do the job, they were on time, professional and courteous. Brian came by to check on them. They took as much time as they needed to do a thorough job. We did not feel like they rushed through to get to another job. After they were finished, they let us go up to see what they had done. We would highly recommend Brian Lewis to anyone needing attic insulation!

They brought my insulation up to the required R value (blown in insulation in my attic). He came out personally to write the quote, walked me through step by step the things that they would do and additional areas that they would check to ensure they were properly vented/sealed. On the day of service the team arrive right on time, set up quickly and quietly, and were done in a few hours. They cleaned up after themselves, let me take a look to verify I got what I wanted, and were very friendly.
