Description of Work: Last Sept. 21012 we purchased a Big Deal from Von Companies after seeing the excellent reviews they had received. We tried many times both by e mail and phone to reach them but had no success until yesterday when I sent one last e mail to them. They e mailed back saying "way more were sold than they anticipated or could keep up with" the Big Deal and were unable to fulfill them because they were losing money on them which I can understand would have been fine if there had just been a few but not with so many. Would I try to get them again? Yes, I would based on their previous reviews of their work done, I would like to try them.

Description of Work: In Sept. 2012, I bought an Angie's List - Big Deal coupon that said Von Companies would provide 8 hrs of General Contractor labor for $299.00. The coupon was good for a year and I had no intention of using the service until the Spring of 2013. In April, 2013, I made my 1st attempt at contacting Von Companies, by phone & left a message on their recorder. Over the next couple of months I left 2 more phone messages, none of which were returned. I then sent a couple of emails, one in June & one in July. No one responded to my emails. I then contacted Angie's List and someone from the Big Deal desk even sent an email to Von Companies, asking them to get in touch with me. No response. I don't know if Von is still in business or not, but they sure don't want my business. It's time to move on.

Description of Work: I spoke with the company prior to purchasing a Big Deal and they confirmed they would perform the work I needed. I was unable to get in touch with this company after purchasing my Big Deal. Angie's List tried to help me get in touch with them as well and was unable to. They are very unresponsive.

Description of Work: Did an excellent job with roof repain, replacing trim on the roof of our house, and repairing stucco. This was originally a coupon for contractor for a day, but of course more work was involved. He gave us a fair estimate, and completed the work in a timely manner. A very polite, fair, and hard working contractor. Would definitely hire him again.

Description of Work: Really not happy with the amount of work he was able to complete, I had two light fixtures to replace, he didn't get around to doing that. He added three brackets to one closet, he hung up three closet door. did not need to install hardware, he nailed the trim around a couple doors.

+ -1 moreTom and team arrived on time and did a very professional job installing a flat-screen HDTV on the wall (a not-small task), repairing the windows, and installing stair railings so they are extremely secure, and then fixing a door hanging. Their tasks took them a little past the original end time but they stayed to finish them and clean up everything, and didn't charge more than the original amount estimated. We greatly appreciate the professional expertise they provided. We were able to have these improvements in place prior to the arrival of guests for Thanksgiving.
Description of Work: Install flat-screen TV on wall, including drilling hole to hide the cables; Repair three broken windows - including installing new glass; Cut and install stair railings to basement; rehang door that wouldn't stay open.

He was present when the building materials were delivered and made sure the fork lift driver treaded lightly on my perfectly stained and sealed concrete driveway. Tom started the project right away and finished on time and on budget. What amazed me most besides the fact that the project turned out better than I could have hoped for was the fact that the crew cleaned up everything at the end of each day! I was able to drive through the work site and park in my garage every night and did not find one nail. Because of this attention to detail I was able to enjoy the progress they made everyday in the tidy work area. Tom is an excellent communicator and kept me well informed and took the time to answer all my questions throughout the entire project. This project was completed in less than two weeks. Thanks again for a great addition!!
Description of Work: Von Companies LLC added a carport addition to the front of my garage and connected to the home complete with 9 recessed lights in a soffit type ceiling and entire roof with soffit all around to match the home perfectly. Tom said "it will look like it was originally built this way" and it does!! Tom delivered exactly what he said and it could not have turned out better.

When he first discussed the project, he understood our needs and took the time to tailor and create drawings of what our house would look like. He utilized a designer to allow us to understand what final colors that we wanted. During the project, Tom kept us abreast of what was being completed each day and week. His crew was as detailed as he was and we received a better job than we could have ever imagined. Tom was at the project every step of the way and kept work up to his high standards.
Description of Work: Tom completed a Roofing and James Hardie siding project on a Cape Cod and detached garage.
