The sales person, Tracy, was very easy to work with - responsive, gave great suggestions but let us make our own decisions. The scheduling team was accomodating and checked back to make sure everything went well. The installation team was courteous, prompt, and finished ealrly. The price was very competitive for the quality and was a bit lower than their competition.
Description of Work: We replaced 15 windows. First and second story, including a large picture window. We also replaced our front door, including a storm door.

Pella installed a front entrance door that included two side lights and a full view storm door. I requested an appointment on-line and was contacted within 24 hours by a representative to set up an appointment. Pella sent out a confirmation notice with the time and date of the agreed upon appointment. The representative arrived on time. We explained what we were looking for with he entry door and storm door. The representative went over the various options with us explaining in detail the differences in the doors offered by Pella. We picked out two entrance doors and two storm doors. Then we reviewed the options in hardware. Once all that was complete we asked for quotes on the various doors with hardware. The representative printed out the quotes for us to look at and discuss. There was no pressure to buy. Our questions were answered in detail. We had other quotes and decided to hire Pella to do the install of the doors. Within 24 hours we received a call letting us know the date and time they would arrive to install the doors. We had been told by the representative that it would take three to four weeks. A lead check was done prior to the installation and found that there was lead in the paint on the outside frame of the old door. This was found after the quotes and the representative said there would be no additional charge for setting up to removed the old doors. They had to cordine off the entry way with plastic before removing the old door. The installation went well. Once they completed their work and cleaned up, one would not know that anyone had been working at the home. nd

I thought their sales person was fair, responsive and had good customer service attitude. The 2 men who came to install the windows were through and friendly. They also cleaned up nicely. I would use them again only because they were able to match the stain on the trim around the windows.

Sales associate came to our house, walked us through options and worked with us on the design. He spent a significant and appropriate amount of time. We got discounts for paying up front, paying in cash and got per-window discounts due to a current promotion. Shortly after we were contacted by a project manager who scheduled accurate measurement and install date. They met our schedule for both. Install was amazing. They arrived on time and finished installing all 10 windows in one day. They were very need, personable and careful. They replaced some bad wood and even did a little touch up paint. The sales associate even stopped by to check on things during the install. It was a great experience.

Overall, I had a good experience with Pella Windows. I first went to their store in Edina to talk with someone about getting started with my window replacements. They scheduled a date for a representative to come out to my home to see what work I needed and to give me an estimate. The guy who came out was very friendly, knowledgable, and gave me ways to save a few extra dollars. The day that Pella was scheduled to do work on my house was a record breaking 103 degree day. They arrived on time and started work immediately. They safely prepared my house to deal with the lead dust that would result from taking old windows out of a 1950's house. One of the things that had to be done was that the air conditioning had to stay off (so as to not distribute the lead dust throughout my house... not too bad for me, but bad for them!!). They had the area protected, the one window sash repaired, and the old windows out probably within the first hour. The rest of the time was spent putting in my new windows and building new window frames for two of my windows. The whole project probably took about 7 hours. Once they were done, they answered a few questions I had about my new windows and explained what information to save for a possible tax break. I noticed, later when I was reinstalling my blinds, that their work wasn't perfect (and I thought it should have been perfect for $4,000!!). The new window frames were missing paint in the spots where they had cut the wood, and one piece of wood was split. I didn't have to wait long to talk to someone about this, because someone from Pella followed up on the project almost immediately. I explained my concerns and she scheduled to have someone come back to fix the problems. Today they were fixed to my liking.. within about 15 minutes.

The salesperson came to our house and showed us the various options and pricings. She was very friendly, even recommending a great Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood when we found out she lived only about a mile away. The guys who came to do the install were very friendly. The did a great job explaning everything they were going to do, even working around our neighbors schedule since our houses are so close together and they would have to covering part of their houses due to lead abatement. By the time I got home from work, they were finishing up, showing me how the new windows worked, and making sure I was happy with the instal. Which I was.

We waited until the end of the year to have 2 windows replaced. I called several companies and received quotes. I called Pella last assuming they would probably be the most expensive, but I had a few quotes using their windows and thought I would try anyway. Vanessa came to our house and asked many questions to figure out exactly what I wanted (turns out Ididn't know as much as I thought). When the quote came back it was surprisingly close to the others and it seemd to be prudent to have the company that manufactures the windows installing them. The whole process was almost too easy. They installed the windows on a frigid January day with no dificulties whatsoever. The crew was very efficient, kept everything clean and very professional. Every person that I worked with was actually early to each appointment and could not have been more personable. We love our new windows and wish we would have done it sooner.

It was great. The workmen were very professional. They cleaned up after themselves. Thye took away off the the debris. I now have a door that is sealed when I close it instead of a wind tunnel. Pella sales rep worked on my schedule and returned phone calls promptly. He came to the house with models of the different materials and explained the pros and cons of each one. He explained the lead abatement process that would probably be needed in my old house. (It was needed). The window was expensive but he was able to reduce the price somewhat for us. When I scheduled the installation I described the job to the scheduler (window above bathtub); she made sure to schedule an experienced installer who could adjust the tilt of the window sill so that water would drain toward the tub and not back into the window. All installers were prompt and neat, and finished on time. In the winter we had problems with the window not sealing tightly and causing condensation. Pella was responsive to our complaints, technician came out and was able to adjust the window slightly. We found Pella products very nice and all employees to be customer-oriented.

We haven't actually gone ahead with the work due to some costs. They came out to do the estimate and we had several conversations over the phone. They were very professional and very thorough. The follow up was great. We had no trouble getting hold of people and having them return calls. They were very responsive. They were very prepared and it was low pressure. They said here was their product and they understood that we had to make a decision so there was no hard sell.

After 18 years of service, it became apparent that the ?no name? front entry door and sidelights installed by our builder required replacement. Accordingly, as long-time believers in the old adage that ?quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten? our selection process for our new door and sidelights quickly focused upon two companies with long-standing reputations for quality, Marvin and Pella. As our front entry is a southern exposure and we wanted to maximize the durability of the door and minimize maintenance, we decided to go with a Pella fiberglass door as Pella states in its product information: ?Pella? Fiberglass and Steel: Pella entry door systems are built tough and designed to stand up to extreme weather and heavy use. ?Best use: When extra durability and low-maintenance benefits are desired.? Additionally, we chose the extra cost option of having the door and sidelights pre-finished (painted) by the Pella factory as we were assured by the Pella salesperson that the Pella factory finish would be of superior durability to that which a painter could apply on our site. In the interest of maximizing the quality of installation of the new Pella front entry door and sidelights, we first obtained a list of Pella-authorized installers from Pella. We then checked out each installer?s rating on Angie?s List and selected an installer with overall ?A? rating on Angie?s List. The installation was completed in a very professional manner. Approximately 26 months after the installation, one day we opened the door and happened to glance at the lower, non-hinge corner of the door; much to our dismay we observed that the paint and/or fiberglass on the EDGE of door was bulging and peeling. Additionally, the weather seal material on the doorframe in corresponding region was also deteriorating. This observation was particularly troubling since this entry door is exposed to minimal wear and tear as only guests typically use our front entry. Additionally, it was clear to us that the failure of the door in this area was NOT attributable to adverse weather exposure as the EDGE of the door had not obviously been exposed to sun, rain, snow, etc. Clearly, after discovering this inexplicable deterioration of our Pella door after little more than two years, I was deeply disappointed with the apparent poor quality and durability of Pella?s product. Although I was aware of Pella?s 24-month warranty on paint finish, weather stripping and labor, I felt confident that Pella would stand behind its product given the obviousness of the manufacturing flaw and close proximity of the failure to the expiration of the 24-month warranty period. Upon contacting Pella to report this failure in our door, it was clear that my faith in Pella was misplaced. Upon observing the failure in the Pella door, I immediately contacted Pella corporate ?customer service? at the telephone number provided on Pella?s web site. The experience was not pleasant. The person answering the call seemed disinterested in my situation and problem. Pella?s corporate ?customer service? representative then requested the date of the door?s installation (amazingly, this is IRRELEVANT information, see below). I explained that, upon installation, I had promptly registered my door for warranty coverage with Pella and that the date of installation should be reflected on my registration submission. The ?customer service? representative then replied that I would have to dig up the information myself as the warranty registration information Pella requests homeowners to complete was not available to her as the warranty registration process is only to benefit Pella?s marketing efforts, NOT to facilitate homeowners filing claims. The Pella representative then asked me from what Pella dealer I had purchased the door and, as it was directly from Pella, she forwarded a request to the corresponding Pella dealer to contact me regarding my claim. After some time, the local Pella dealer contacted me and I explained the problems with our Pella door again. The local Pella ?customer service? representative then requested that I take photos of the failures in the door and send them to her. I sent the photos to her within an hour or two after her request. After a few days I received a request from the local ?customer service? representative for additional photos, which I promptly sent. The ?customer service? representative indicated Mondays are busy at Pella and she would get back to me on Tuesday, which did not happen. On Friday I finally received a call back from the local ?customer service? representative denying my claim based upon the fact that I was (even a little) outside the 24-month warranty period. Her response surprised me, as the fact that I was (minimally) outside the 24-month warranty period was not in dispute from the time of my first phone call. She went on to state that, in fact, my calculation of how long the door finish was out of warranty was incorrect, as Pella unbelievably calculates the beginning of the warranty period as the date the order is PLACED, not the date the door is installed or even delivered to the customer. Thus, if the Pella?s ?professionals? at the factory are taking a doughnut break in the midst of manufacturing my door, the time remaining on my warranty is ticking down as the doughnuts are washed down with a second cup of coffee. Her best offer was to send me piece of weather strip material and some paint to complete the repair myself. If I needed help installing the weather strip material, Pella would charge a minimum of $100 for a service call, which would include the first hour of labor. Thank you very much. Disappointed by the local Pella ?customer service? representative?s response, I requested to speak with her supervisor, under the mistaken impression that if I could talk to someone in Pella management, the obviousness of the legitimacy of my claim would become apparent and my request for its repair, including labor, honored. I again explained the entire situation to the supervisor, stressing that the defect most likely occurred in the door BEFORE the expiration of the 24-month warranty period and I just did not happen to see it before the warranty expired (after all, what reasonable person routinely inspects the hidden, inside corners of their door on a routine basis?). Additionally, I explained that the reason I justified paying a premium for a Pella door was so that I would not have to be concerned: 1) if the door was going to start disintegrating just after 2 years and; 2) I would NOT need to inspect every crack and crevice in the door on a monthly basis for signs of deterioration. Again, this trust in Pella was apparently without basis as the supervisor indicated that the 24-month warranty period is inflexible, and that despite the LOCAL Pella office?s efforts to plead my case, CORPORATE Pella denied the claim for extending warranty service and labor to cover my repairs. Next, I decided to contact Pella corporate ?customer service?. Calling into Pella corporate customer service, I requested to be connected to the assistant to the vice-president of Pella ?customer service?. I was connected with a person who did not identify himself with respect to position, but assured me he was sympathetic to my case and that ?he would make it right?. He indicated he would contact the local Pella office and gave me the distinct impression he would get things straightened out to my satisfaction. I gave him my contact information and waited. After four days, I called him back and left a voicemail stating that the local Pella office had not yet contacted me to resolve my problem. After not receiving a call back, I waited another day and called back again. This time I did reach him and explained that I had not yet heard from the local Pella office regarding resolving my claim. He then asked if someone from the local office had contacted me about sending me some Pella PAINT so that I could fix the door myself. I responded that, as I had tried to explain to him in our first telephone conversation, my purpose in contacting him in the first call was to request Pella to extend their 24-month warranty to include the cost of labor for repairing the door as well. He then indicated that the local Pella office was NOT owned by Pella and that the decision not to honor my claim resided with the LOCAL office, not the corporate office. I then communicated to him the local Pella office had communicated to me the exact opposite justification for denying my claim. Let?s see, the LOCAL office told me the corporate office denied the claim and the CORPORATE office is now telling me the local office is denying the claim?and NEITHER office seems (at least to me) to be concerned much about building doors that go more than two years without problems or their customers who experience these problems associated with manufacturing defects after this minimal two year period. At this stage, I am resolved to the fact that I will probably end up having to fix a door that was installed a little over two years old door myself or pay Pella $100, or more, to do so. All of the windows in our home are Andersen windows. Based upon my personal experiences with both Andersen and Pella, I can state that ALL my dealings with Andersen on warranty issues, even after the windows have been installed in our home for 20 years, have been DRAMATICALLY more pleasurable and less stressful than dealing with Pella. In my experience, in contrast to Pella, Andersen is willing to bend over backwards to satisfy their customers and maintain their reputation for building quality products by deciding borderline warranty issues in favor of their customers. In contrast, in my opinion, once the sale is made, my distinct impression is that Pella does NOT care whether it satisfies it customers, or not. I will NEVER buy another Pella product.

Pella Windows and Doors has shared with the member that his product was purchased in September 2008. It does carry a two year labor warranty which has elapsed. The member was kind enough to submit pictures for us to review versus incurring the cost of having a technician visit his home. Upon reviewing the pictures it was determined that a full panel replacement is not required. The issue appears to be a maintenance issue. The fix is to touch up the paint which is a service we do not offer through our service department. We have provided paint to be used for the touch up to the customer at no charge. This concern was also taken to the manufacturer both on the customers behalf as well as by the customer personally and they concurred with our recommendation to touch up the finish and denied any request for a replacement panel under warranty. VERY fast install, we left for work, came home and the work was complete. There is a subtstantial difference in heat, light and sound penetration - our house stays MUCH cooler in the summer and we have noticed a difference in our utility cost. We have a couple of additional windows to complete the project that we will definately purchase through Pella.

They were very good and the door and windows are also good. We spent about $ 10,000 for the windows and the door. We spoke to a Pella representative a couple of times and they were good go deal with. We used the Pella products and had a different contractor do the installation, but the products were fine. Their prices maybe a little high, but the quality is good.

It went fairly well overall, but we had hoped for better than that. One major window was installed slightly off level (1/4 inch off level in 8 ft width); sloppy work in installing the required bedroom smoke detectors (which I re-did), sloppy work in installing doorbell button, which they came out and re-did; one door was mistakenly shipped hung in a frame for 6-inch wall (we decided to live with it, it was in the garage); a small piece of plastic base molding for the bottom of the narrow window adjoining the front door was shipped in WHITE plastic instead of the PUTTY color we ordered (this took an absurd amount of time to resolve, with the factory and the local Pella office not getting it clear just what the part was, and in the end we decided to live with it, since the "final solutions" they had -- either paint over the white plastic with putty color paint they supplied, or put in a similar but not identical piece of molding in a procedure which looked like it could result in marring the frame -- seemed likely to leave us with a worse result than living with the piece in white; the sliding patio door; they had to have factory replacements sent TWICE before the third one fit and operated perfectly. Other than those issues, the installers themselves were very personable and professional, and the other doors and all the casement windows are working perfectly. But in the end, if I had it to do over I might very well go to a Marvin Windows solution. The idea of a Pella Company local outlet to deal with (1 company) rather than having an independent local company install windows by Pella or some other manufacturer, and the unique sliding patio door, swayed us to the Pella deal. The local Pella team worked with us on every item we raised, but they were in the end stuck dealing with mistakes at the factory.
Description of Work: Replaced every window (15, with Pella Casements) and every door (3) in the house, all with Pella.

We received bids from other companies between 10000 $ and 11000 $. I have installed some of the single windows myself, but this time it was a 6 window combination which included the living room too. We got 3 sliding glass types of windows with corresponding windows that function above them. We also had a trapezoid window and one larger functioning window. I have to call them back, as 2 of the functioning windows need a slight adjustment. They were quick in responding to me when I called them originally. I worked with a person named Tracy. I did leave a message for her about a week and a half ago to call me and I haven?t heard from her, but I keep going out of town. So, she might have called me when I wasn?t in town. However, she came out here and explained things to me. She got the measurements right the first time. I would recommend Pella Windows & Doors to other people and I will use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I had some Pella windows installed by Pella Windows & Doors about 3 weeks ago.

The installation was excellent. The materials were good. Everything went pretty well. The windows function pretty well. The double hung windows are very hard to open and close. They are getting better on their own. The patio door steel is not adequate. We had frost a good deal of last winter. They did not make the windows when they said they would have them done. They did not even manufacturer them six weeks after I ordered them.

The experience was good. They cleaned up after themselves. They were on time. I just can't figure out why windows cost so much.

It went very well. They came out and did an estimate, and measurings. They came back and installed the door very promptly. They did a really good job installing the door. I would use them again.

They had a standard contract with nearly indecipherable legalese. They refused to commit to providing me a a lien waiver upon completion of the work, making me wonder if they intended to pay any subcontractors that they might hire. I passed and used Marvin instead.
