Pella Windows and Doors

The existing windows in our 60's built house were not energy efficient and we decided to replace them with Pella windows. We chose Pella because of the roll screen and shades within the windows, that are great for allergy sufferers. The installer sent by Pella was professional and the product has exceeded our expectations. The price is rather high for these windows, but I rated them on price value. While our relatively new Marvin door was very drafty every Winter, we do not have any drafts with the Pella products. You can tell just by opening and closing them just how solid they are. We had a problem with a crank, but Pella came out promptly and fixed it at no charge.

Both Pella and their installer were professional through and through. When we encountered a problem with a custom color mismatch on the exterior frame, only noted after installation, both Denna and her installer came back and worked together with us to solve the problem. This involved removing and replacing several large windows. While it was a significant inconvenience for us, we were impressed with their quick action, no-nonsense approach and their full acceptance of responsibility and accountability.

We called hoping that Pella could give us an estimate to replace our windows. They were 3 weeks out for estimates and that was too much time to wait. It was getting late in the year and we wanted an estimate from them to compare other bids. We never did have them come out. Their wait time was too long!

My experience with them was very good. The sales rep. was very good with us. The installation went faster and smoother than we expected. I would recommend them and use them again.

Overall experience went well, the installation crew was neat, punctual and did a good job of cleaning up at the end of each day. Would definitely recommend to others based on our experience.

We had had about five to six other estimates and no one would match the trim of our exterior. Pella Windows went way out of their way to make sure they matched our trim to a tee.

The estimator that came to our house was prompt, professional, and courteous. My chief issues with my Pella experience were these: 1) I liked the mechanics of the Marvin windows the best. Pella had way too many moving parts and awkward motions for me to handle. The Pella window we were most interested in had blinds embedded between the panes. That might seem nice at first but if you ever get sick of the blinds between the panes, the entire sash may need to be replaced. 2) The Pella showroom in Maplewood(?) did not seem to be set up to handle individual consumers - only contractors. The person we met with really didn't seem to want to help us. ($25,000)

My experience with this company was very good. They were very responsive. They were not cheap. My daughter was graduating and we wanted it done before her party. They agreed that they would get it done. They got it done but I noticed that it didn't look right. It was sliding in the opposite direction. The dog got confused because he was used to it being the other way. They hadn't finished the job. They said they would finish putting the door in for the party and in two weeks we will have a new door for you. There was not a lot of hassle about it. I was very pleased with them. I would recommend them and do them again.

They were fantastic and they were very good. They were easy to work with, they were on time, and the prices were right. We choose them because of Angie's List.

The quality of the windows is far superior than others.

THEY SUBCONTRACT OUT USING THE SAME LIMITED NUMBER OF CONTRACTORS.

Pretty good. We had purchased Pella Windows for our upper level, and now needed to buy more windows for the main level. Their patio door was too expensive so we purchased the door from another home improvement store.

We liked their replacement windows better than Anderson or Marvin. The installers were great! Our house is 120 years old and nothing is square, but they installed all the windows without problem and they all look great. One of the windows had a crack in the frame, which the installer noticed (we didn't even see it). Pella sent out a replacement and it was installed a couple of weeks later. We will be using Pella again.

The installation cost was on the high end of competitive, but the price they quoted for the door was $500 more than the same Pella door cost at another home improvement store.

Gabe Karber was punctual, courteous and informative. Pella's bid was about $7500 more than another contractor who would be installing the same windows so I went with the other contractor who is highly rated on Angie's list. Ultimately, the decision came down to price. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Gabe or Pella to anyone.

They came out and took care of all of the scratches and dirt on the windows and replaced them which makes them a great company!! They were pleasant and had no problems giving me this great customer service!!

THE QUALITY IS FAR LOWER THAN EXPECTED. THE INSTALLATION SHOWED POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP; THE BOW HAD TO BE REDONE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE. A PIECE OF ONE WORKER'S TOOL PLUG GOT STUCK IN AN OUTLET, CAUSING A SMALL FIRE, WHICH THEY DENIED CAUSING. AN ELECTRICIAN SHOWED THEM THAT THEY WERE AT FAULT, SO THEY FIXED THAT. THEY PLACED A SAW ON OUR KITCHEN COUNTER, CUTTING THE FORMICA. THEY COVERED THE COST OF REPLACING THAT COUNTER. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THAT THE SEAT OF THE BOW WINDOW SEPARATED FROM THE FRONT MOLDING AT THE SEAM. THEY SAID WE HAD SPILLED WATER ON IT, BUT WE DIDN'T PUT PLANTS ON THE SEAT UNTIL WE HAD PLASTIC CONTAINERS UNDER THEM TO AVOID JUST THAT SITUATION. THEY ORIGINALLY CONSIDERED SANDING THE SEAM (NOT A GOOD OPTION BECAUSE OF THE THIN LAMINATE), BUT NOW ARE REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING AT ALL. THEY HAVE QUIT RETURNING E-MAILS ABOUT THE SITUATION AND JUST LEFT A MESSAGE SAYING THEY CONSIDER THE MATTER CLOSED. THIS HAS BEEN A VERY FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE.

IT WAS REALLY EASY TO SIGN UP FOR AN ESTIMATE, I EMAILED A REQUEST FROM THEIR WEB SITE WITH THE DAY I PREFERRED, THEY CALLED AND CONFIRMED AND SHOWED UP. THEY DETERMINED THAT MY ENTRY DOOR WAS AN ODD SIZE THAT THEY COULDN'T REPLACE. THEY WERE COURTEOUS AND INFORMATIVE ABOUT SOME OTHER OPTIONS.

THE WINDOWS LEAKED FROM WHEN THEY WERE INSTALLED. PELLA DID A SPRAY TEST AND THEY WATCHED THE WATER POUR IN. THE DAMAGE TO MY HOME IS SO BAD THAT THE ESTIMATE TO MY HOME IS AROUND $230,000. THEY HAVE BEEN RUNNING US AROUND FOR YEARS. A TOTAL OF 2 SPRAY TESTS WERE DONE. THEY HAVE TRIED TO FIX ANY PROBLEMS. THE DAMAGE GETS WORSE EVERY TIME IT RAINS. THE WINDOWS ARE DEFECTIVE YOU CAN SEE THE WATER GOING BEHIND THE SHEET ROCK. WE HAVE PUDDLES EVERYWHERE.

WINDOWS WERE ALL WOOD AND CLEARLY HIGH QUALITY. THE SALESWOMAN WAS KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE PRODUCT AND FRIENDLY. PELLA'S PRICE WAS HIGHER THAN ANDERSEN OR HOME DEPOT. DECLINED THE BID.

THE REPRESENTATIVE WAS VERY HELPFUL. IT TOOK SEVERAL TRIPS TO FINISH MY JOB AS SOME OF THE SPECIAL ORDER WINDOWS DIDN'T MAKE THE FIRST TRIP. THAT WAS FRUSTRATING. ALSO, THE FINISH COLOR WAS WRONG ON SOME OF MY ORIGINAL ORDER, BUT THEY DID COME TO FIX THE STAIN COLOR WITHOUT MUCH BOTHER.

THE INSTALLATION WAS DONE BY SUB-CONTRACTORS AND THEY WERE FINE. THERE WERE SOME MISTAKES SUCH AS 4 OF THE WINDOWS THEY DELIVERED THE FIRST TIME WERE TOO SMALL. THERE WERE MANY ATTEMPTS (4-5) TO GET THE TRIM AND GRIDS SIZED CORRECTLY ON THE CUSTOM HALF-CIRCLE WINDOW. SEEMED LIKE THERE WASN'T ANYONE OVERSEEING THE PROBLEM. PERHAPS LACK OF ATTENTION OR INTEREST BY THE SALESMAN OR MANAGEMENT, NOR WAS THERE AN APOLOGY FOR OUR INCONVENIENCE. ALSO, WE WASTED OUR TIME AND MONEY STAINING SOME WOOD THAT WAS ORIGINALLY DELIVERED THAT WASN'T NECESSARY FOR THE INSTALLATION. THE INSTALLATION BEGAN IN AUGUST, 2004 AND THE PROJECT WAS NOT COMPLETED UNTIL MARCH, 2005. GOOD THING WE WEREN'T IN A HURRY. THE WINDOWS DO LOOK VERY NICE.

WE HAD ORDERED AND PAID EXTRA FOR A BRASS HANDLE, WHICH WAS NOT INSTALLED. WHEN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED, A DATE AND TIME WAS SET TO REPLACE IT. THE INSTALLER LEFT A MESSAGE WITH US AND ASKED IF WE HAD THE HANDLE. WE DID NOT HAVE IT. THE DATE CAME FOR THE APPOINTMENT AND NO ONE SHOWED UP. I HAD TO MAKE NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS OVER TWO DAYS TO GET IT STRAIGHTENED OUT. ON THE NEW APPOINTMENT DATE THE INSTALLER DID NOT SHOW UP ON TIME. I CALLED THE INSTALLER AND HE WAS GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE. HE FINALLY SHOWED UP NEARLY TWO HOURS LATER. HE WAS POLITE AND IT ONLY TOOK ABOUT TEN TO FIFTEEN MINUTES. I HAVE REPLACED ALL OF THE WINDOWS IN MY HOME WITH THIS COMPANY AND THEY HAVE BEEN GREAT. THE ONLY PROBLEM HAS BEEN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT.

THE SALESMAN & STORE MANAGER CAME OUT TO OUR HOUSE ON THE SAME DAY WE SAID WE WANTED TO BUY THE DOOR. THEY MEASURED THE OPENING AND WROTE UP THE CONTRACT. TWO MISTAKES MADE DURING MANUFACTURING: WRONG HANDLE AND THRESHOLD NOT STAINED, PELLA WAS ON IT IMMEDIATELY & THE PROBLEMS WERE CORRECTED.

THE INSTALLER WAS PROMPT AND COURTEOUS. HE EXPLAINED HOW LONG THE JOB WOULD TAKE AND STAYED WITHIN THAT TIME FRAME TO COMPLETE THE INSTALLATION. WORKMANSHIP WAS OUTSTANDING. ALL ASPECTS OF THE PRODUCT MEET OUR EXPECTATIONS.
