Excellent work. Great crew. Cleaned up everything and left some of the wood for firewood.

We had used North Star a couple of years prior with good results so we called them to give us an estimate. They came out surveyed the damage and extent of the work within a couple of days and provided a not to exceed estimate which we accepted. The work was estimated to take two days and use a 5 to 7 man crew. Part of the work required a crane to hold and lift some of the trees near the house. The crew showed up with all their equipment and on time both days. The crane showed up when it was suppose to. The job was well planned and executed. There was no waiting for missing equipment. The crews were fantastic, very professional and personable. They were really hard workers and very concerned for our safety. A couple of times we were leaving our house and they held us up for a couple of minutes till they could make the area safe for us. They laid down sheets of plywood to minimize the damage to the lawn. They really did a good job of cleaning up after their work. They even raked the yard where the plywood sheets had been and other areas they had run the equipment across. There was no damage to anything including the yard. The actual cost of the work came in less than they had estimated. All in all they did a wonderful job and I would recommend them to anyone without reservations. Our experience after using them twice was so good that we will not consider another tree service.

Quick response for estimate request. Provided estimate that day. Hired them and set the date. Unfortunately that was delayed for almost a month due to the big storm up north that caused so much tree damage. They arrived on the day arranged ready to work and did an amazing job! They were so nice and worked very hard. I couldn't even tell the trees and shrub they removed were ever there! They cleaned everything up and my trees they trimmed look wonderful. Would hire again. Wonderful! Worth the wait!

Provider came out and surveyed the job and provided an estimate a couple of weeks prior to the service being performed. Scheduled a date for service, followed up with a reminder call. The several person crew that came out was professional and efficient. Their lead person followed up to make sure the job was done per the quote and to my satisfaction. ( and it was) Would definitely recommend.

North Star did a wonderful job- they were professional, on-time, and performed all clean-up prior to leaving. They attempted to protect our stone pavers but in the process of removing a large tree several of them cracked. The foreman knocked on our door to let us know what had happened right away and offered to reimburse us in full. I was so impressed how up front and apologetic he was, and we did receive a check for the cost of replacement pavers. We will absolutely use North Star in the future, their honesty and professionalism was refreshing!

These guys were great, and I will call them first the next time I need tree work. First off, I had estimates accumulated from a few different places, and these guys were the best value for the money. I say it that way because I own a chainsaw and like doing tree work, but dropping a 22" diameter tree that was hanging over the house was well beyond my skills, but I can cut up the branches all day long once it's on the ground. John understood this and was willing to write the estimate in a flexible way that didn't just force me into a "full service" (i.e. disposal and stump grind) situation. I could also tell during the process that John knew what he was doing - some of the competition sent out kids in designer sunglasses and flip flops to write their estimates. I have doubts that these kids have ever started a chainsaw, and it showed in how far off their estimates were. Second, the crew was very punctual - actually about 15m early. They were very efficient and professional in doing the work, and it was done flawlessly with one tiny exception. Before I get to the exception, it's important to note they decided to use a crane to lift the trees over my house, which was a huge timesaver for me when I started dicing the branches up and taking them to the city - 70% of the material was already in the front yard because they dropped it there (after consulting me), saving me a ton of branch dragging. The tiny exception was on one of the final large sections, the crane operator nicked my gutter and it ripped the cap off. John again was fair to work with on it and we sorted it out. So, all in all, these guys were great and I'd bring them back immediately the next time I need tree work done!

Everything went very well. I am a returning customer of North Star Tree Care. This is the third time I hired them to do some work for me. I called them about 4 weeks ago and spoke with John who came a few days later to my house for a free estimate. He looked at the conditions of all the trees that I wanted to be shaped or removed. He gave me his suggestions and advice on what would be the best treatment. He then gave me a quote for all the work. I negotiated the cost he gave me and . He came down a little on cost. I talked to him a few days after I was given the estimate and asked him about the date when they would come and do the work. I was given today 10/6/2015 as the date they would come and do the work. They arrived exactly at 8:30 AM as promised. They did an excellent job removing all the low tree limbs up to about 6 feet clearance. They removed the dying trees, ground the stumps and pruned the shrubs. All the area was cleaned and debris was hauled away.

I have a healthy ash tree that needed to have some large limbs removed. John responded to my emailed questions rather quickly and came out shortly thereafter to do an estimate. Scheduling was easy and convenient and they arranged to contact Xcel to turn off the power to my home that day. The team arrived when they said they would and were all very professional. They did a great job and worked quickly but safely. The cleanup was so thorough you wouldn't have known several limbs had come down that day. I'm really pleased.

There crew arrived early and was extremely professional. Even though they ended up putting a huge crane on the front lawn to lift the tree cutting over the house, you would never know they had been here. They were fast, efficient and the clean up was superb. The second crew came back to remove the stump and the equipment broke half way through the job. They were very apologetic,cleaned everything up and stayed in touch as to when the job could be completed. The clean up on the finish removel was very thorough all the way from the back yard to the street. This is an excellent and very fair priced company. I would not hestitate to use them again or recommend their services to anyone. Great company and terrific employees.

The crew showed up a little later than we had scheduled, but they had the stumps ground and the shrubs pulled in about an hour. Because the stumps were next to the house, they covered my windows with sheets of plywood while the chips were flying. They filled in the holes, smoothed the yard, picked up after themselves (and branches that had fallen into my yard from my neighbor's dead tree) and even used a leaf blower to clean the sidewalk. They are nice guys and do good work for a reasonable price. I would certainly recommend them.

Everything went great, they are polite, professional, and friendly. He has always been very accommodating when we have needed him.

They did a great job. Our neighbors have used them as well. It went real well. They came right out.

NS tree came out and gave an assessment for the job while we were out and left us a preliminary invoice for the estimate. The quote for the job was in line with what we wanted to pay. Certainly fair and accurate. We ended up going with another tree contractor as we heard back from and met with them sooner that initial contact was with NS tree. We would certainly call NS tree again if /when we have another tree issue.

They were efficient and showed up on time. Got everything done to my satisfaction.

We had a dead elm on our lot that was tagged by the city to have it removed. The tree was 19" in diameter and was located at the top of a steep slope. John gave a bid and indicated that a crane would need to be used to remove the tree. He was busy and let us know that he may not make the window of time the city gave us to have it removed. I did let the city know, and we were granted an extension. John's crew came to the house early in the morning as scheduled, let our neighbors know that they would need to block the street for a short period of time and if they would need to be on the street within the next hour, they should move their vehicle beyond where they needed to set up the crane. The crew started with putting the crane in place and sending one person into the tree to wrap a strap around the tree limb while he cut the limb. The limbs were huge and the crane operator strategically placed the limb in the cul-de-sac area where more of the crew members sent the limbs into the shredder. I could not believe how fast the shredder turned those limbs into dust! Once the tree was removed, they also removed the stump. The other companies I spoke with were about the same price, but they were not going to use a crane and would not guarantee that the vegetation on our hill/slope would survive the branches and limbs rolling down the hill. I would recommend North Star Tree service.

John B. came out, walked our property with us, we told him our concerns, what we wanted his crew to do. John was polite, listened carefully, and made detailed notes explaining the species of trees involved along with explicit instructions on what needed to be done. He then gave us a quote. My husband and I discussed it, we felt North Star would be a good company to hire. We scheduled an appointment, the crew came punctually on 9/11, and immediately started work... My husband walked the crew through John's instructions, which they seemed to appreciate, saying they were not quite sure from his notes to them exactly which trees and limb cuts were involved. There was slight damage to a golden maple we had planted due to a limb drop from another tree, which could not be avoided, the crew brought the damage to our attention, and did not try to hide it. They dragged and dropped excess limbs where we had designated, wrestled artfully with some old and stubbornly thick grape vines, and dropped half of a very old oak which was splitting down the middle and could come down in a heavy wind or storm causing severe property damage, while leaving the living section intact, this was in a very hard to reach location, but they worked well as a team, completing the job, and doing a few little extras for us that were not included in the original invoice without additional cost.

The estimate was good but their cost was higher and we went a different company. They were professional.

We liked dealing with this company from start to finish. John was responsive, professional, and the quality of work was excellent. They gave us the best quote for the work, were punctual, and friendly. The tree was very large, old, and dying. They took down the tree, took out the stump, and cleaned up after. During the job, a large limb fell on the sidewalk and cracked the concrete. John told us he would get the concrete repaired and offered a discount on the service. We only wanted it repaired, which was also done professionally. John took care of it all. We highly recommend this service, and will call them again if the need arises.

I can't recommend them highly enough. I found them on Angie's List. They are totally professional. I am blown away. After working with others who didn't know what they were doing, these people are top notch all the way. They are not only monkeys trimming everything up on these high trees, but they clean up everything to a perfection. There isn't a branch left on the ground.

They were prompt and accurate with their estimate, and came when they said they would to do the work. They were less expensive than other estimates we received, and even threw in clearing the debris and taking out a small bush, no charge. The men who did the work were extremely nice and VERY knowledgeable! Great job North Star!

They gave us a bid to remove a large spruce tree. We contracted with them and they came out exactly when scheduled to do the work. When John came out that morning, we asked him if his guys could trim up some other trees while they were there. He said sure. We went through with him exactly what we wanted done. He made notes and told his men to do it when they came in the afternoon to remove the tree. They were very professional ... the tree was down in no time, and then it was removing the roots, chopping up the tree, etc. It took quite awhile as the roots were huge and a lot of them on top of the ground and ruining our grass. They did it all in the afternoon and even managed to avoid breaking any of our sprinkler lines! Then they set to the trimming. Did an excellent job and exactly as we had requested. I would recommend them to anyone.

Had to remove part of a fence to get the equipment in and replaced it again. Showed up on time, were very efficient and professional.

This project went very smoothly. North Star was able to come out and look at the tree quickly, gave a fair quote, and was able to schedule the job in a reasonable amount of time. They efficiently took down the tree, and thoroughly ground out both stumps. They cleaned up very well when they were done. The workers were friendly and polite. The ground looks perfectly flat - you'd never know we had a dying tree and a big stump there! I'm very happy with the work they did, and I would hire them again.

Reported on the date scheduled--I wasn't sure if they would since it started out raining, but quickly cleared up. They brough two crews of three people to the job site and finished all of the trimming, which included very extensive trimming on the elm, in a little over two hours. The crew cleaned up all of the branches, explained that they tried to shake the trees to get any small branches to fall, shut and lock the gates in the fenced in area, and left. They happened to forget one of their aluminum ladders, but returned to pick it up promptly after I notified them.

John was unable to make it to the time that we had scheduled the estimate. He phoned me a full 30mins prior to the appointment to let me know that he couldn't make it. He also told me that he had gotten very busy and asked if it was ok if he referred me to another tree service company that more regularly works in my area so that I could get faster service. Very professional and I really appreciated the honesty about the situation and the effort to make sure that I got the tree service I needed in a timely fashion.
