John was prompt in returning my calls, friendly and professional in providing quotes and ideas for tree care in my yard. He also referred me to an arborist for additional consultation on tree health and treatment options. Although the price seemed high to me, it was competitive with the other bids I received. They did cut an electric line when grinding the stump but returned within a couple of days to repair without charge. I was not home when they did the work but my neighbors commented that their crew was very professional and efficient. I would recommend them.

They were very responsive and came out quickly. They did a great job of not only removing the tree but grinding the stump and the roots. They were very thorough in getting as many roots as they could see. They cleaned up well after themselves. They were competitively priced.

Great Experience! John and his crew were very responsive from A to Z. Showed up on time for both appointments (to bid the job and to do the work). They were professional and cleaned everything up completely. They were not the lowest bid we got, nor the highest. Would definitely use again and recommend to others.

These guys were great!! They responded promptly to our request for a bid and arrived on time the day of the job. They did a wonderful job, cleaned up so that you wouldn't have known they were there, and were very respectful of our opinion on what we wanted done. We would recommend their service to anyone.

Wonderful. I called John at North Star as a referral from Angie's List for a second bid. I got immediate call back same day quote and although his bid was higher, he met the other bid when I identified myself as an Angie's List member. This company came out sooner then the other and the crew was friendly, polite & professional. They came back one week later to grind the stump and it looks wonderful!

I thought that this com[any did an excellent job. The six man crew showed up at the time promised. They made short work of the whole job and was done by noon. They chipped all of the branches and made sure the yard was immaculate.

The crew arrived on time and removed the sumac in short order. They used heavy equipment to pull the roots and stumps out of the ground to prevent regrowth.

They arrived ahead of schedule and got right to work. I was impressed how safety conscious they were too. They had all the equipment necessary to complete the job. When the job was complete, you could hardly tell they were there except for a little sawdust in the street which washed away in the next rain.

I would recommend them to anyone. They took care to do what I wanted to have done, and checked with me to make sure it was what I wanted. They did a good job.

Showed up on time & finished on time. The maple tree was gorgeous & they cleaned up so well you'd barely know they had come. The apple tree had over 100 apples this year compared with 4-5 in years past. We had work done in Feb. Our neighborhood was hit hard by the storms in August. We only lost a few twigs here & there compared with whole trees that our neighbors lost. They are awesome!

They came out the same day I called to provide an estimate. They were very personable and knowledgeable about the situation. The price was quite a bit higher than some other estimates we received so we ultimately decided to go with another company.

They were very good. We agreed on a price that was agreeable for both of us.

North Star came out two days after I had called (I consider this very timely given the amount of damage in the area). They efficiently got the work done and cleaned up well.

Their crew was so great. You could tell they were not sub contractors and they really cared.

This company was great. They were on time and did the work to my satisfaction. This was a huge tree (over 100 years old) and had the potential of hitting my house because it was rotting. They were expert in their work. The only thing is that they were such eager beavers because they came at 6.40 am and I had to hold them back until 7 am because of city ordinance for starting work. This is a group of Minnesota boys from Northern (Pierz) Minnesota and they know their business. I would not hesitate calling them again.

John (who bids the work) is easy to work with, responsive, and helpful. The crew who came to do the work was timely and did a great job. My husband and I were impressed with how hard the team worked together and how well they cleaned up the work site. We would definitely work with North Star Tree Care again.

Excellent from start to finish! This is a tree that many tree services would NOT have touched! It stood at least 70 to 100 feet, and the trunk measured 16 and a half feet around! Nathan, John, and the crew showed up here first thing in the morning. They were fully prepared for a big job; and it WAS! I was impressed with all the equipment they had. I took pictures and videotaped while they went 70 to 100 feet up, and took the tree down limb by limb. They utilized great care to protect our yard and surrounding trees by guiding the limbs down using cables and ropes. I've never witnessed such professional; conscientious work on such a BIG job. Our yard was completely clean when they left. The entire crew was friendly and knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. I would consider North Star Tree Care to be a very experienced and dependable tree service. We are very pleased with the end result.

From the time I called for a free estimate visit, the work was done 2 days later. Their were 2 young men who came right on time. They used a long bladed saw to lop off excess tree, leaving it looking so much better. One young man actually asked me to come out and look at it to see what was done and when I requested a bit more come off the top he very willingly got back up on the roof and reached out to buzz of the top and shape it to my liking. He gave me information about the cedar tree, which was helpful to know. I had been very concerned heavy wet snow would break off the boughs, and I was right, that could be more of a problem with cedars. They cleaned up all the debris and were very efficient with their time.

We had some trees removed years ago with some unpleasant results. North Star gave us wonderful service and have some very nice people in their employ. North Star made arraignments to have Excel Energy lower the power lines to do the job. Excel rep commented on the fact that not a scratch was on the house afterward since the tree was rubbing against it. They did a wonderful job. North Star Tree service does a wonderful job, & I would be happy to recommend them any time.

They did a good job! In the future, I would get additional bids to compare.

We had a large tree in an area where it needed to be taken down in pieces to avoid damaging other trees, our home, and a neighbors shed. The guys came in and used climbing gear to take the tree down in pieces safely. After watching for a while, I was confident in their skills. I had no worries about property damage or their safety. They cut what we wanted and cleaned up thoroughly.

They were extremely friendly, punctual, cleaned up everything, and even did a little extra trimming on another tree. We plan on using them in the future.

I called Matt he was out the next day to give me a bid. I had used them before when I was on the board of a condo. He did remember me and the work I had done before. The bid was a fare price so I agreed to the work. He had his crew stop by on their way from another job and take care of my work. They had the tree's trimmed in no time and cleaned there mess up perfectly. They also showed me what trim I could do on my own for the future, so that I didn't have to hire them again unless the tree was in the power lines again.

John was very easy to work with, returned my phone call promptly, and arrived on time for the estimate. I thought the tree was an oak and had contacted him during the summer, but he told me that we needed to wait until fall to avoid damage. He said he would call me in October to schedule an estimate, and he did! In my experiences, it is rare for a contractor to follow up 3 months later. It turns out I don't know my trees. It is a large maple that can be trimmed at any time of the year, and to think, I grew up on my grandparent's large farm and logging was one of their businesses. Oh well, the tree is trimmed, and I am very happy with the level of service this company offered.

The company was great in responding to a quote asap. However, their quote was 3 times the amount from another Angie's List service provider. This quote did not include tax, but did include removal of debris.
