AAA Chem-Dry

I was not happy with the result. Much of the carpet they only quickly went over with one swipe and it did not get very clean. They only sprayed the spots I pointed out and any I did not point out because I did not know they were there did not come out and I only noticed them later when I vacuumed like a coffee stain under the table. It was not a new stain because nobody had drank coffee in that area for a long time and when I used another cleaner on that spot it came up immediately.. Even the spots I pointed out were not removed very well. After they had sprayed those spots they only went over them once or twice which did not remove them. I called them to come back to redo these spots. When I called them they said it was so far away (I live in Eden Prairie and their business is in Maple Grove -- anybody besides me think that is not very far away if you have a business?). They never responded to my request to return and redo those sports and I never heard from them again. I was very disappointed with the job they did and I would not use them again.

They were punctual, removed a number of difficult stains, and recommended using their proprietary stain remover going forward. Very professional and pleasant to deal with, prices were reasonable and would definitely use their services again.

Very disappointed with the results. Carpet wasn't all that dirty to begin...normal buildup from a few years of foot traffic. What can I say? They just did a lousy job.

They were timely, pleasant when working, and they cleaned up well. Their price was reasonable, too.

It did not go well. I tried to contact the provider via e-mail and phone (left message) and got no response although I waited a few weeks. I tried again via phone and got through and set up an appointment for a Saturday morning. My husband and I worked hard to get all the furniture moved out, etc. and waited for their arrival. When they didn't show up I called and the provider said they couldn't come because their van had broken down. He claimed he tried to contact me and my phone was disconnected (not true). We had to reschedule for Monday and my husband had to leave work early in order to accomodate this. It also threw our weekend plans all off schedule due to the furniture etc. They did perform the service finally on the Monday and we were not happy with the job they did. The carpet doesn't look much cleaner and they tried to charge us extra to do a landing at the top of our stairs (which we declined). I definitely would not use them again and would not recommend them.

I called immediately after purchasing the deal on Angie's list. I spoke to Tom (the owner) and he was able to quickly get me an appointment time. They were running a bit late on the day of my appointment, but called to let me know and were there right on the rescheduled time. After a quick look at what needed to be done, they had their equipment out and started cleaning! Two things happened that made the experience extra special. I had started a load of laundry before they came. They needed to use a sink to fill the cleaning machine, and planned to use the one in the laundry room because it had the easiest access. I told him I would turn off the washer so as not to get into the way. When I went back downstairs again, he had re-started my wash cycle, and I appreciated the conscientiousness of doing that. In addition, when my cat made an appearance to see what all the commotion was about, he told me what a beautiful cat he was. What's not to like?

It was too expensive in the end.

The overall process went very well. The 2 men that showed up were friendly and did a great job of explaining the process and offering advice on cleaning pet stains. Our carpet was thoroughly cleaned and the pet stains were not visible after they were done. I was pleased with the whole experience and end result.

They were friendly. They showed up on time. The end cost was exactly the quoted amount. I had them treat a spot, and they told me if for any reason the spot reappeared then they would come back out. Fortunately, it has not.

Carpet cleaning services were completed promptly and I called in short notice. I was very satisfied with my overall service and Tom even cleaned some stains that I didnt even mention to him. I plan to call Tom for future carpet cleaning services and were very reasonable cost for 3 rooms plus I added steps, and high traffic hallways to be cleaned for total of $206.00(includes $99.00 big deal).

The carpet cleaning was excellent...the carpet had not been professionally cleaned for several years and was very stained in several areas...the stains were totally removed...excellent job. They were also very prompt, efficient, and courteous.

Very prompt and proafessional service. My carpet looks fabulous and we had a couple of very dirty areas that are completely clean. He also gave us some tips on how to spot clean our oriental rugs. Great service and I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

It went well. They worked efficiently and the carpets looked great when they were done. I could still smell the dog urine on humid days, but overall, it is much better.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for AAA Chem Dry. The deal was $99 for carpet cleaning in three rooms. I called on July 11th and spoke with Scott regarding scheduling the service. He was very polite, professional and accommodating. Both of our schedules had availability the next day so we scheduled it. I was given a short half hour window for arrival since they were coming from the other side of the Twin Cities. That was fine with me I just asked that they call if they were running behind that estimated time frame. On the day of the appointment I got a call about 10 minutes into the window stating that they were on the way but might be just a couple minutes late. I don't even remember if they were actually late, it didn't matter as I appreciated the phone call regardless. We took a quick tour of the three rooms, they (Scott and Tom) asked me to point out any problem areas (e.g., stains), we discussed that inclusion of the hall and stairs would add about $50 beyond the $99 Big Deal. I was good with that so we agreed and they got to work. I think it took about an hour, maybe less. Afterward they reviewed what they had done, and offered some products (stain removal etc) for purchase if I desired. I was at my budget so I declined and that was that - no pressure. I've never had a carpet cleaned before (hence the reason I made the Big Deal purchase) but I am happy with the way the carpet looks and I am confident they did a good job. I am very happy with the level of service provided and the level of professionalism displayed.

I called them to get a quote. I told them that I had a coupon. They said that they had already deducted 30% from the quote. That was annoying and was fishy. I don?t know whether they really deducted 30% from the quote. The work went fine. They were professional, nice, and friendly. They did a good job. The carpets were much cleaner when they did the work. Their price was reasonable. They came on time. Everything went well. I would use them in the future.

It appeared to be an excellent job. Good workers. Cleaned up. Sprayed fabric guard on woodwork. Could have been more careful but cleaned up.

I got the Angie Deal from AAA Chem Dry for $120.00. I was very happy with the services of this company. I got living room carpet cleaned. It was more than 5yrs of not being cleaned. Tom was able to get the carpet back to the look when I moved in. Tom was very helpful in answering questions and did a though job. I will definately call him again in the future. He called when on his way. Tom called again to let me know he was delayed due to accident on freeway was going to be a little later.

I purchased an Angie's List carpet cleaning BIG DEAL. They in turn referred me to AAA ChemDry. The deal cost $120, included 900 sq ft carpet cleaning, included one upholstered item and was worth up to $340. I told AAA ChemDry, both when I scheduled and when they arrived, that I had purchased this Big Deal. The first thing the ChemDry rep said upon arrival is he'd credit the $120 against services performed. The deal was $120 for *$340 worth of cleaning* so immediately a red flag went up. I had considered sending the vendor home but thought it reasonable to first show him the work at hand. I wanted to hear what (if any) add'l costs there would be. To Do list: - Carpet: (1) medium room with stairs plus large closet = 410 total sq ft - (2) medium 5' x 8' rugs - (2) microfiber sofas (one medium and one large) After looking around I was offered a massive several hundred dollar quote including charges for both rugs and both sofas! This was above and beyond the BIG DEAL. I expressed surprise and concern about how many charges there were above the BIG DEAL. His immediate retort was *I*, the customer, didn't understand the deal. The rugs were not included and the only upholstered item that could be cleaned was a chair. No sofas. Now I really had a pit in my stomach. I had already paid $120 to Angie's List and was going to incur another few hundred dollar expense because *I* didn't understand the deal. I took him at his word that this was my mistake because he was an Angie's List referral. I was embarrassed with myself to have gotten into this expensive situation. I pleaded for a discount on his add'l fees and he reduced them to "just $250 plus tax." After the vendor completed his job I called Angie's List to express concern over how expensive this visit had become. I didn't know if it was my ignorance, a poor deal from Angie's List or the vendor's not understanding the BIG DEAL. To my relief, the quick answer from both Angie's List reps I spoke with was A) the vendor did not understand the deal and B) the vendor did not execute the work in the spirit of the deal. Angie's List offered to intercede by getting in touch with the vendor. I was told I'd be called back within hours or a day. Well, I heard nothing back from Angie's List for many days. When they finally got back with me it was a simple email saying to get in touch with the vendor and work it out. WHAT?!!! No call back and now I had to fend for myself. Several days after receiving that email I called Angie's List back again. First, I needed to hear what happened in their call with AAA Chem Dry. Second, and most importantly, I needed for them to explain what was in the Big Deal so I had a position from which to negotiate with the vendor. What I learned from Angie's List was AAA Chem Dry said the job was above and beyond the Big Deal and I agreed to the add'l charges. No mention of telling me I misunderstood the deal. From AAA ChemDry's perspective everything was fine. First, Angie's List let me down big time. My first call to them was the best way to get this worked out short of filing a complaint. Second, they essentially told me it was my problem. I'm a grown up so I sucked it up to call the vendor to discuss my dissatisfaction with the job (more details coming). Then I realized the owner contact Angie's List gave me for the Big Deal was the same guy who ripped me off! It was now apparent the only way this could get done was an online complaint. You've only heard half of why this was a bum deal: - The AAA ChemDry bill indicates the $250 fee (+ tax) is a 35% discount off regular fees. In other words, they valued their services above and beyond the BIG DEAL at roughly $385. So I paid Angie's List for $340 worth of cleaning then paid the vendor for another $385 worth of cleaning. Please go look at my To Do list to see if that looks like $725 cleaning to you. - Second, the work was incomplete. I paid for 900 sq ft of cleaning. They cleaned the 250 sq ft room but skipped the adjoining stairs! Also, one of the area rugs they cleaned was never moved from beneath its sofa. In other words, they simply cleaned the part of the rug that shows. Let's summarize just how poor this deal really was: - Angie's List sold me services that were to include up to 900 sq ft of flooring. I have only 410 sq ft of carpet yet the vendor charged add'l for (2) 40 sq ft rugs. - The Big Deal was to have included one upholstered item. The vendor told me it did not include sofas so I was charged for both sofas. - The stairs I was charged to be cleaned were not. - One of the rugs I was charged to be cleaned was only partially so. - I paid Angie's List for $340 worth of cleaning then had to pay another $269 to AAA ChemDry. When I called Angie's List a third time they offered to refund the $120 Big Deal fee. I declined. Their charge wasn't the problem. The problem was the vendor charging for items that should have been included and not completing the work they were paid to do. What's a fair settlement on this issue? First, Angie's List ($120) and AAA Chem Dry ($269) need to figure out how much I was overcharged then refund me that money. This would be one couch at least. Hopefully both 5x8 rugs, too. Second, I'll get quotes on cleaning the second rug and stairs. I then need Angie's List and/or AAA ChemDry to reimburse me for that. Or I'll just have them both cleaned by a more reliable vendor and they can reimburse me. Either way, because I've already paid for these I should not be asked to incur add'l expense. To conclude, this Angie's List GREAT DEAL stunk. AAA ChemDry did not honor the letter or spirit of the deal. Angie's List let me down by asking me to fend for myself. The vendor told me *I* did not understand the deal. When they were confronted by Angie's List they said I agreed to the additional charges. Finally, the work is incomplete. Finally, if you're wondering why it took two months to file this report then you have no idea how disappointed and angry I was for weeks after this experience. This is the first time I'm able to deal with this issue calmly.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLEANER!!!! BEWARE!!!!!! I only used this company because of their great rating on Angies List. However, after they cleaned my carpets were still grey in areas. I brought it up while they were there and they stated this is just from the carpet loosing its sheen. They said it is clean but doesn't reflect the light as much so it looks dirty. I took them for their word and paid up(big mistake). 2 weeks later I was at menards and decided to rent a rug doctor just to see what happened. I brought it home and was amazed at how dirty the water was (it was almost black). I took pictures of it even because there is no way my carpets got that dirty in two weeks. After they dried I noticed they were no longer grey. So what they said was a lack of sheen was actually dirt that they did not get out with their removal process. I called the guy to and requested a partial refund. He was very unprofessional! He kept asking why I did not have him come back and reclean it if it was an issue. I told him that is because when I brought up my concerns with the grey left in my carpet the first time he was here he told me it was my carpet and not his lack of cleaning. I was not expecting it to get so clean and I was not expecting to pull out soooo much dirt when I used the rug doctor. He kept telling me he would come back out and clean them even though I told them they were now clean thanks to the $25 dollar rental rug doctor. He finally said that he would refund $80 of the $250. I told him I felt 1/2 of the cost would be fair He told me that the cleaner I used would re-grey the carpets and told me to call him in two weeks and he would come out see if the carpets are still clean. If they were he would refund part of the money. After about a month I called him and told him our carpets were still not grey. At this point not only did he not agree to refund half the $250 but he would no longer even agree to refund the $80. He kept asking me the same question on why I did not have him come and fix the issue. I kept giving him the same answer(located earlier in the paragraph). He also kept saying he would come out and reclean even though I told him my carpets were still clean from the rug doctor. Finally he told me to have my husband call and I did. After a long conversation with him he finally agreed to send us $80. It has been weeks since then but still no check. My husband called him and he now says he never told us that he would send the check. My husband just let it go at that however I expect that a person should follow through on what they say. So I called him and told him that I expect him to send the refund he promised. He was rude and disrespectful. He kept coming up with the same excuses as before. He finally agreed to send $40. I told him that I felt he needed to send what he promised. He told me once again to wait until tomorrow while he considered this. I will be suprised if I ever receive the PROMISED refund! I add it in here if I do.

We specifically pointed out a darkened area in the living room that required special attention. The service man said it would not be a problem to remove. We expressed dissatisfaction with the results the next day (darkened area looked essentially the same after cleaning) and it took roughly 4 weeks for a response. The owner, Tom O'Keefe, was very condescending and rude on the phone. He and a service person visited our home on October 14 to review the situation and believed the poor results were due to ?old carpet? and the dark area we were pointing out was routine wear that could not be cleaned and was also due to poor maintenance. We disagreed explaining the carpet was less than 6 years old and was very well maintained. The response from Mr. O'Keefe was defensive, rude, and condescending. They tried again to clean the problem area without improvement - Mr. O'Keefe acted like he was doing us a favor for trying to clean it again "for free" when we had already paid for the service and were clearly disatisfied with the results. I was shocked at the unprofessional way Mr. O'Keefe handled a disatisfied customer where the reason for the disatisfaction was obvious. I have never experienced an owner of a service business being as openly condescending - he actually made my wife cry by berating her. Before leaving Mr. O'Keefe told me he offered a double your money back guarantee if we could find someone to clean the darkened area because he was so confident the problem area was wear rather than being dirty. We contacted C&R Carpet Restoration for a second opinion. They believed the problem area was mostly dirt/oils and was not strictly wear due to the age (less than 6 years) and generally good condition of our carpet. C&R used a steam cleaning process and were able to clean the problem area to our satisfaction on the first attempt ? the darkened area is gone and the carpet looks great! It was obviously not a worn carpet and it was not an issue with poor maintenance - it was dirty which is why we paid for a professional carpet cleaner. I sent a letter to Mr. O'Keefe asking him to honor his "double your money back guarantee" including before and after photos clearly showing the dark area after AAA Chemdry tried to clean our carpet twice and then the dark area removed after C&R steam cleaned our carpet. He responded with a letter still insisting our carpet was simpy worn and was poorly maintained (even with clear evidence the dark area was gone!) - needless to say he did not honor his double your money back guarantee and did not refund the money we paid even though they were unable to effectively clean our carpet. His response insinuated they had cleaned our carpet "for free" when we had already paid them. The chemdry process might be fine for routine carpet cleaning that does not require any special stain or spot removal, but their process was unable to remove a darkened area that was clearly accumulated dirt/oils from normal usage while the steam cleaning process easily removed the darkened area. I strongly discourage anyone from using AAA Chemdry!
