A 1 Ceiling Specialists

I had attempted to paint my bedroom ceiling and in the process almost half of the texture ended up on the floor. I managed to scrape the remaining texture off, but at that point decided perhaps a professional should take over before I made things even worse. I spoke with Larry and he came out that afternoon to give me an estimate. I really appreciated him coming out on a Sunday. His bid wasn't the lowest I received, but he was able to do the work right away and it was worth the few extra dollars to have the job done immediately. I wanted my bedroom back. The next day Larry came out and applied the texture. He was quick and cleaned up after himself very well. The ceiling looks terrific! Hopefully I won't ever destroy another ceiling, but if I do I'll certainly use A - 1 Ceiling Specialists.

Larry was outstanding. He was timely, courteous, neat and highly skilled. You cannot tell that the ceiling had been altered in any way! We were very worried about how this repair would go (ie. would there be noticeable lines, gaps, textures, etc). The repair is perfect! Like new.

Larry did all of the work himself, from the estimate to the actual resurfacing. He was always prompt, friendly, and it didn't hurt that he was literally from the neighborhood. :-) Before he started he covered everything in the bathroom, including the light fixtures and an aquarium. There was mildew on the ceiling, so he washed the ceiling with bleach before sanding down the cracks and chips and spraying on the ceiling foam. I had to leave for work that day, so I left the house key with him to lock up, which he did for me and I don't usually leave my keys with just anyone. He also gave me instructions on airing out the house after he was done, as the odor from the paint was really strong. My only qualm is that he said he would leave the windows open "a crack" so the house could air out, but when I got home the bathroom window was wide open. Our neighborhood is quiet, but I still wouldn't leave a window open while I was gone. Overall, however, I would still call this company again.

Arrived on time for estimate,did a professional estimate at a good price. Arrived on time for the job. Added two rooms to the estimate for a reasonable price and did the job as specified. I was very pleased with the whole process.

He returned my call the same day I called him - came out within the next day or two to give me an estimate - we scheduled the work for 3-4 days later on a Monday. He called me a couple of times to confirm and make sure all of the necessary household items had been removed so as not to be in the way or damaged when they did the work. He started at 8 A.M. on Monday and called me early afternoon to let me know the ceilings were done and they were painting the wall and asked if he should pop some windows open to start getting the paint odor out of the house. I have to say I was a bit apprehensive when I came home and looked at the ceilings as they were still wet and partially shiny from the oil coating he puts over them - HOWEVER, when they were dry the next day, they looked fantastic - and there was NO SIGN of the water damaged area he fixed. I am extremely happy and would definitely use him again!!

We decided to try using Kilz primer to cover the stain instead, which was a big savings. Larry was very professional and knew his stuff, but our tight budget for preparing our house for market meant that his price was a bit too high.

Called Todd and told him I was tired of climbing ladders, would he paint the bathroom. He shot a price and showed up - roller in hand. What a joy to have around. His honesty is refreshing. The bonus was a job well done with no mess. Can't wait until spring when he will be back to give our front door a PROFESSIONAL paint job!

We tore the soffits out of our kitchen and the electrician and plumber left our drywall needing to be patched and plastered. Our kitchen ceiling runs right into the family room and was previously spray textured. Larry patched all the drywall on both the ceiling and the walls, then plastered the walls and resprayed the ceiling. He managed to get everything to blend beautifully. We were amazed!

Larry replied to our call immediately and came over to give an estimate the next day. The work was scheduled for a few days later. Larry and his brother arrived promptly at 8 a.m., spent two hours preparing the rooms (covering everything in plastic), did the work, cleaned up completely and were done by 3:00. We were amazed, as the areas were very large and the ceilings are textured and difficult to repair neatly. We couldn't have been more pleased.

The work went very well. Larry was able to come out the next day (due to a previous job cancellation). He arrived on time and did a thorough job of masking the room. The whole job(12x16 room with repair) was completed in two hours from start to finish, it looks great. Larry cleaned up and asked if we would be a referral for him. We were glad to agree.

He did an outstanding job. The house was cleaner after he left then before he came!! There was absolutely nothing on the floor when he left. He was on time, his pricing is fair, and he does what he says he will when he says he will.

The job went great. First, Larry returned our phone call within one business day, then he did the work within one day of the phone call. This was important to us because we had scheduled a painter to start work and he wanted the ceiling repaired before he started his work. Larry protected our carpeting and sealed off the room where he was repairing the ceiling so our house remained spotless throughout the entire process. He is very professional and easy to work with. We will definitely call him again for any other plastering or drywall needs we may have! Larry also gave us 10% off because he offered an Angie's List coupon.

They called back and informed us that they would not deal with us until the tile was down. We hired another plasterer from the list who came before the tiles were down and recommended a handyman to help us get the tiles down.

This was the 3rd time I'd had the ceiling done. (That's a whole separate story.) The first time was done by Larry from A-1, and it was great, no problems at all. The second time I was under tighter budget constraints, and I had the work done by another company. They did a second-rate job and left my place a mess. So, when it was time to do it again, I went straight back to A-1 ceilings and paid a little extra for the job, I SHOULD have gotten done before. Larry was extremely friendly and easy to work with. He showed up a little late, but had already called to let me know he was running behind. He arrived within 5 minutes of his revised estimate. There was no debate on price; he charged exactly what was estimated. Most importantly, he did the job right, he did it fast and he cleaned up nicely afterwards. I hope to never need any ceiling work again, but if I do, I'll never bother calling anyone else.

He was very pleasant to work with -- punctual, efficient, explained each step he was taking and why, was very careful with our new hardwood floors. His Angie's List and 'cash payment' discounts were a great plus.

I did call Larry about the crack in the ceiling and he did offer to come check on it but since I was taking down all the wallpaper and needed the walls to be prepped I didn't want him to bother as I knew things would have to be gone over again anyway.

Mr. Forsman of A-1 was courteous and prompt in all of our dealings. His bid for this job was the highest I received, but I decided to hire him because it seemed the quality of the work would be similarly high. The sheetrock repairs went fairly well, although after he left I found some nail pops that he missed, which he promptly fixed. The painting was less successful, partly due to significant paint fumes and partly due to the fact that the paint was applied with a sprayer rather than being rolled on, resulting in a number of noticeable drips and a generally uneven appearance. Because of that, a second coat of paint was unexpectedly required for parts of the ceiling, which Mr. Forsman rolled on. While the final product was, in the end, acceptable, it was not the seamless, high quality job I expected for the price paid.

I called A-1 Ceiling Specialists, and Larry Forsman called me back the same day - we set up a date for him to come out. He was very professional and gave me an estimate which I accepted. He came on time when he said he would. He marked off the complete room with plastic and even moved a chair into another room and completed the job the same day. After repairing and painting the ceilings, he spray-coated them with an oil to seal the work. He cleaned up afterwards leaving no mess. He did say there would be a smell from the oil for a day or two - the only problem with that is that I have had the windows open constantly for three days and there is still a smell. But I understand this is normal. I definitely would recommend this company to anyone - he was very polite to work with and very reasonably priced.

Larry was on time, polite and did very good work. We were very pleased with the result.

Ceilings look great. Half the cost of a competitor.
