Dupont Decks, Inc.

Dupont was one of four companies I contacted through Angie's List about replacing my deck. They were responsive in communications, Justin was timely in coming to visit and providing a quote, and their charges were reasonable. They worked with the city to meet current building codes, provided plans to visualize the new deck, and were flexible as I coordinated approval with the association. Justin and his team did good work on schedule and the deck looks great. I am very happy with the overall process, follow up, and outcome.

It went well except the cold weather/snow.

DUPONT CONSTRUCTION were very professional and did a wonderful job planning, tearing out and replacing our old deck. It was a pleasure to work with everyone at DUPONT from the office folks to the installation crew. From the very first contact we made, they went out of their way to quickly respond to our request for a design and estimate and then to get our project on the calendar. Everything went smoothly and we are thrilled with the finished project. Pictures included here are a before and after so you may see for yourself how much it improved the curb appeal of our property but also the usefulness of our deck/walkway. We would not hesitate to call on DUPONT CONSTRUCTION for any future projects that we come up with.

Our new deck is beautiful. The quality of the workmanship is excellent. The one area that was difficult for us was communications.

On the plus side we do have a nice useable deck now. On the minus: I was super unhappy with the process, the way the finished product diverted from our original design, hearing Justin blame the city inspector for things, and having the deck fail inspection the first time around. Despite having been out to see our site twice ahead of starting the project, on the first day Justin approached us with a “design problem” that he blamed on the slope of our hillside. I wanted him to dig the footings lower so the deck could be at a lower height as drawn up in our plans. He dodged his way around my suggestion, basically refusing to change it and trying to explain why it was going to be better his new way. In the end he wore me down and we let him proceed with his new plan. I think he just wasn’t willing to rent an excavator to dig the footings down. Then the inspector found that one of the footings was not supporting the deck or attached to it. Also a small landing at the top of the stairs had just a 2x4 to support it which wasn’t enough. Justin’s crew did come back to fix these things and then it passed inspection. However, we have several glaring problems and we now need to spend more money to solve them. The “redesign” of the deck impacted 2 downspouts which should have been fine with the original design. One downspout over the stairs Justin just shoved to the side so it looked fine but leaked when we got the first rain. The other one now empties right onto the other stairs so we have to completely change the location of it and patch and repitch the gutter. He downplayed this situation and didn’t offer to address it himself. Finally, the main staircase ends down the slope, below one of the footings, and Justin left a pile of dirt there from the footing that washes over the bottom two steps when it rains. It looks like we will need some type of small retaining wall to address this. The spot that they dug flat for the landing of the bottom step becomes a mud pit and our dog now gets muddy paws every time he goes out. Justin did not offer any solutions to these problems when I pointed them out. I wish I had hired someone more willing to problem solve and to do the project the way we wanted it instead of changing the plans to what was easier for them, Also, I can do without hearing someone talk up how good they are at designing on the fly when then they leave behind problems that they created. I cannot recommend working with this company.

Dupont Construction must completed the building of two Azek decks. From the moment we contacted them we have had a great experience. They are timely, friendly and dependable. We enjoyed working with Justin, his staff and the carpenters. They exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend them.

My experience with Dupont was great. Work was done efficiently, quickly, according to schedule. The final product is beautiful, complete with a custom designed railing on the side facing our back yard. Kudos to Justin and his crew of office staff and laborers.

The Dupont team was amazing from the start. Justin came out to take measurements for the quote. He took the time to listen to what I wanted and address all of my questions and concerns. He did not seem rushed and did not make me feel pressured to decide on anything while he was there. He provided an accurate estimate for when the project would start and how long it would take to complete. Once I let them know I would like them to do the project, Brooke was in contact with me regarding the contract, deck and railing colors, and mock-up. They took care of obtaining the permit from Plymouth, and setting up the inspection. The crew was professional, clean, and friendly. I was updated at the end of each day on progress and when they thought they would be done. The deck passed on initial inspection (the inspector did not find issues and did not need to come back out). I can't say enough good things about this company. I obtained 3 quotes for this project and Dupont was the middle bid. I have no regrets with choosing them and will use them for any future projects I may have.

During the selection process Dupont Construction rose to the top for building the deck, due to their great communication and design creation. Justin, Amanda and Brooke were great to work with throughout the project. Dupont brought in a dumpster, demo’ed the old deck and cleaned up the area so a separate landscaper could build a retaining wall and dry creek bed. We ran into a small problem when the landscaper reduced the footprint available for the deck, which required a deck redesign. This was not a problem for the team at Dupont. We agreed on changes and the design was updated to highlight the landscaping. The Dupont deck building crew was great, completing the deck in two and a half days (working on a Saturday). The deck was flawless. During the process I asked if some siding could be replaced. That was no problem, Justin made time to replace what was requested. The deck was exactly what was wanted, Dupont stayed on schedule though all challenges and their price was very competitive. Dupont is definitely on our preferred vendor list for future remodeling projects.

We had a great experience. The constant and thorough communication from the company alleviated any questions or concerns. The whole process so smooth and seamless. I would recommend this company for its customer service alone...but of course that’s the just the cherry on top. The quality and crew were also great!

Extremely well. The crew they sent were efficient, kept us up to date on their schedule, produced an excellent result, cleaned up after themselves, and did a number of things we didn't ask for that simply made the result better.

This is a family owned business, and they are amazing to work with. Justin offered advice to help save me money while solving my original need - a new maintenance-free deck. I would definitely recommend this team of professionals - both office staff and installers. They are friendly people who provide focused customer service, excellent work, and a valuable product.

This business would not do a job as small as ours. However, they suggested I send measurements and they would get a bid out to us. They returned with a bid to replace the whole deck which is not what we wanted in the first place. I don't understand why we were given a construction company as a referral when we simply needed deck repair ... not full replacement.

We were very happy with the services provided. From the time of the first visit when the first measurements were taken until the end of the project, the communication was clear, frequent and we felt that our business was appreciated. The whole project was done in two days. We had an old, small wooden deck that we had extended and replaced with a maintenance free one. The workers were very respectful, cleaned after themselves and checked with us to make sure everything was the way we wanted it. We will highly recommend this company to our friends and neighbors.

We were very pleased with the design ideas and the workmanship. The workers were always on time, professional and helpful. The owners were always available to answer questions when asked. We would highly recommend Dupont to our family and friends. We are very happy with the product and quality of the new deck.

All in all the experience was great. Dupont came in with the lowest bid among four. Workers started and finished in less than a week. No gaps in work days. The weather cooperated. We love our new deck. Only small disappointment was not being able to avoid hiding the screws. We were in formed of this so we were not surprised. There was a small gap in a corner after completion. Justin came out and corrected the problem in a timely fashion. I would strongly recommend getting a bid from Dupont if you in the market for a deck.

Dupont Construction was very professional and provided some of the best communication I've experience with a contractor. It was a pleasure working with Brooke and Justin. They were very attentive to our needs and went above and beyond to make sure our project was built to our expectations. We couldn't be more happy with how everything turned out. The process from start to finish was communicated very well and the quality of work was top notch. I would highly recommend this company.

Service was excellent. They did an excellent. they were very professional, they were on time and they did the job in a very timely manner. Not only they were kind and giving, they were also fun to work with and very accommodating.

Good. Clean-up was a bit of a problem. They needed to use a drop cloth underneath their work area. I was picking up screws and nails and bits of aluminum for weeks.

The work that was done and the service I received from this company were both outstanding. Justin, the owner of the company, was a delight to work with. He was professional, helpful, responsive, and extremely knowledgeable. Kirsten did an outstanding job on the administrative part of the project. And Dan, who did the actual work was outstanding. His work is beautifully done, thoughtfully performed, and he did great on everything, including a perfect cleanup. I would definitely hire this company again. They went above and beyond.

Excellent from the first meeting through project completion. I’ve been a homeowner for 45+ years and have done a number of big and smaller projects. Have worked with some very good and some not so good contractors. Dupont Construction is one of the best. Justin and Brooke were great in responding to questions and keeping me current on the project. Very helpful in the design process and in selecting materials to use. Took care of all the details (permits, material delivery etc) and made this as painless as possible. The 3 man crew did deck removal and rebuild in 3 days. Quality of work was excellent. No mess left behind-they worked like a well oiled machine. Would recommend Dupont with no hesitation.
