Description of Work: The quality of the windows installed is of poor value. The workman did a poor job of installing the windows. They used second hand workman and damaged my window seals. Caulking was sloppy, with nails showing out of the frame. They were not willing to come check the work and they refused to follow up. I would never recommend them to anyone.

Description of Work: Bathroom remodel: Two salesmen came and I told them what I wanted. They said the plumbing in my plan was not possible, that my plan could not be done, and that I had to keep the current layout. I believed them and signed a contract for what they said was possible. Subsequently, the Rusco engineer came to measure for the materials. I told him what the salesmen had told me and he said what I wanted was possible. The salesmen were wrong. At this point I lost confidence in Rusco as a vendor and no longer wanted to have them do the work. I contacted them and told them I wanted to cancel the contract even though it was more than three days after the date the contract was signed. I did not think that i had been treated in good faith. Rusco said they would agree to cancellation but that they would keep the entire downpayment. I pointed out that they had not yet pulled any permits or ordered any materials. I offered to pay for costs incurred, but they were not interested in anything less than keeping the full downpayment. Their position was that we had a contract and that I needed to honor it. They would only agree to a change order, which initially increased the cost of the contract by $5000. We did negotiate that down to $2500. Feeling stuck, I had them do the work. As installation proceeded, the installer pointed out that the sink from the original order was too big to fit in the new configuration. I went out and purchased one that would fit. Rusco took back the one they ordered. I did not sign the completion certificate when I received it as I was dissatisfied with two things. They did fix both at no charge to me, but it delayed completion for a couple of weeks. The bathroom looks good now, but I found the process of getting there to be unnecessarily painful.

Description of Work: I am pleased with the bath updating. There was a delay as incorrect fixtures came, but that has now been resolved. The installer (Jason) was very professional, neat and friendly.

Description of Work: Installed new front entry AND screen door on house. This was a good experience overall. Nice, polite, informative. The installer was a particular stand out. He was all I could have asked for in an install. High quality products, all is well with these after @6 mo. In retrospect the price was a little high.

Description of Work: We had 2 windows and a sliding glass patio door replaced.I get the impression that this is a very busy company. Luckily, my schedule is very flexible in the Summer, so appointments were easy. They always arrived promptly. |This company seems a bit weak in their interoffice communication. They arrived with the wrong trim for my windows. They tacked in the wrong trim temporarily and the tech wrote out that the correct trim needed to be installed on his service sheet and they left. Several days pass and I get a call from the office manager asking how the job went and was I ready to pay. She was surprised that the trim still needed to be installed. Shortly thereafter they called to schedule an appointment for the trim replacement. The tech arrived with a bundle of the proper trim, but no clue as to what needed to be done. I explained the issue and he promptly replaced the trim. They do great work, but they seem to drop the ball when it comes to communicating amongst themselves. They do fix the problem promptly once they are made aware of it.

Description of Work: Bathroom remodel. Designers were incompetent. They initially told me my design was impossible but their installation staff wondered why they said that. When they re-cost what I wanted, the cost went up $5000, which was beyond what I told them I could spend. I found this out after the 3-day cancellation period was past. Would not let me out of my contract unless I forfeited the down payment even though they had not even pulled the permits. I did not initially sign-off on their installation because of obvious (to me) problems, which required additional materials to fix (which they had to cover).

{member name removed}, There is always 2 sides to a story. You are correct that contractually you have 3 days to cancel an order. We pay the consultant and have admin costs that have to be recouped. You agreed to the design and I am terribly sorry you don't like it. The time to change the design is before product is ordered and there is always time to make changes. I am sad your so angry but be assured our product and labor warranties are intact and you should have many years of good use out of your new bathroom.

Description of Work: The salesman told us that we were a very good customer and said that MN Rusco has done business with us in the past. He pointed out that our 13 windows were Rusco's windows and looks like the door was Rusco's. He also mentioned that the sliding glass door (SGD) was probably Rusco's too. However, they have come out with a superior product SGD with welded corners. The installer who took out the old SGD and replaced it with a new one, commented on the poor job the old installer had done on the flashing at the bottom of the door. This in effect had allowed water to come into the wood and cause wet rot.... which in turn was a huge attraction to carpentar ants which caused the wood frame at the bottom of the SGD to crumble which caused a break in the frame of the frame of the SGD. So, in effect, the previous installer had really messed up... and if he had not messed up, we wouldn't have needed a new replacement door. I told him that the last installer was from Rustco and that it was a Rustco door to which he replied "I was here at the time the last one was installed but it wasn't me who installed it". When I told the company about it, they said that the installer from the original install of the sliding glass door (SGD) was no longer with the company. Further looking into this, they declined liability stating that it was not their Sliding Glass Door. Edit 5/27/15: After checking my records, it seems that Rustco was not the provider or installer of the old door that was replaced.

However, we did the needed repairs to the floor and opening when we recently installed the new door. The added repairs that were done at no cost to you. We did replace your windows and you are a good customer. However, whomever you purchased the sliding patio door from did not do a good installation that created the associated problems. We are sorry that this happened to you but hope you understand it was not our product or our installation that created the problem. Thanks so much.

The sales rep. arrived 20-25 minutes late for the appointment. We showed him what windows needed replacing. We explained that we were not familiar with MN RUSCO's product and options. He was ready to leave in the first 5 minutes because we were not "ready to purchase" and were in the "early stages" of our decision making. We asked if he had any samples with him or if we could visit a showroom. He declined. He was ready to pack up and leave when he finally went into his sales presentation which lasted almost two hours! He wrote up an estimate which was only good for that day. He did the hard sell. He wouldn't even leave a brochure nor a business card let alone an estimate. How do they expect a customer to make a decision on a LARGE feature of their home without having some type of example? He didn't have any examples of houses in the area where they completed the work. Who in sales doesn't leave a business card? The whole thing was very unprofessional.
Description of Work: We were called by Minnesota Rusco to check on our need of replacement windows. We have original 1941 wooden double hung windows. The windows are very large and have the Cape Code design. I told the representative that we were looking for estimates and were not familiar with the company. He scheduled a sales representative to meet with us. The sales representative was very short with us at first. He let us know many times that he worked on a commission. It felt as though he didn't want to waste his time with us because our project wasn't big enough. His attitude went from prejudging us as a no sale opportunity, to lengthy sales presentation to hard sell and argumentative. It was weird.

MN Rusco was persistent in their sales process but failed to obtain the necessary permits once the work was scheduled. Materials sat in my driveway from Memorial weekend until late August before work started. Work was completed on Labor Day weekend.

THE MEMBER'S HOME IS LOCATED IN A PLANNED DEVELOPMENT (PD) ZONE. IT WAS NECESSARY FOR THE HOMEOWNER TO GET SPECIAL APPROVAL TO PUT VINYL SIDING ON THE FRONT OF HIS HOUSE. THE MEMBER STATED OTHER HOMES IN THE DEVELOPMENT HAD VARIOUS MATERIALS ON THE EXTERIOR OF THERE HOMES. THE CITY OF ST. PAUL WOULD NOT GRANT AN EXCEPTION TO THE MEMBER. MN RUSCO WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO INSTALL CEDAR SIDING (WHICH IS NOT A PRODUCT LINE WE CARRY) ON THE FRONT OF THE MEMBER'S HOME. I HAD ASKED THE MEMBER IF HE WANTED THE DUMPSTER AND MATERIALS REMOVED FROM HIS PROPERTY, AND HE DECLINED. INSTALLING CEDAR SIDING IN THE SPECIFIC MANNER THAT HE REQUESTED CREATED A LOT MORE LABOR THAN YOUR NORMAL VINYL SIDING APPLICATION. THE MEMBER WAS NEVER CHARGED FOR ADDITIONAL LABOR COSTS. THE LENGTH OF THIS PROJECT WAS DUE TO THE LOCATION OF THIS HOME IN A PD ZONE, GETTING CEDAR MATERIALS AND THE MEMBER'S AVAILABILITY. MINNESOTA RUSCO ALWAYS STRIVES TO MEET OUR CUSTOMERS EXPECTATIONS. SOMETIMES SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS MAY CAUSE DELAYS THAT ARE OUT OF OUR CONTROL.

The salesperson that gave us the estimate was professional and not pushy. It was very high, but maybe they do have the quality they report to have. However, for several months later people from the company kept calling to set up appointments for estimates. We told them we were already given an estimate, and that we were going with a different company. It took them a long time to get us out of their database.

The salesman was very professional and did not make me feel pressured into buying. The installers were neat, friendly and did very good work on the trim and finishing. THE SALESPERSON FAILED TO SHOW UP FOR THE FIRST TWO APPOINTMENTS. THEN WHEN HE DID ARRIVE, HE OUT REFUSED TO GIVE US A DETAILED, WRITTEN BID. HE ONLY WOULD GIVE US A VERBAL QUOTE. WE THEN RECEIVED A FOLLOW UP CALL FROM ANOTHER SALESPERSON TWO MONTHS LATER. UPON FINDING OUT THEIR BID WAS HIGHER THAN THE OTHERS WE RECEIVED, HE ASKED TO COME BACK OUT TO REBID THE PROJECT FOR LESS THAN THE ORIGINAL QUOTE. HE DID NOT HAVE THE ORIGINAL MEASUREMENTS, SO HE HAD TO START FROM SCRATCH. WE ORIGINALLY TOLD THE SECOND SALESMAN THAT WE ONLY HAD TIME FOR A 45 MINUTE MEETING. HE WAS AT OUR HOME FOR OVER TWO HOURS. MY HUSBAND HAD TO ALMOST PHYSICALLY SHOVE HIM OUT THE DOOR TO GET HIM TO LEAVE. HIS BID WAS EVEN HIGHER THAN THE FIRST SALESPERSON. HE ALSO DID NOT HAVE A WRITTEN BID TO LEAVE US. I WOULDN'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY.

FROM THE SALESMAN TO THE TWO INSTALLERS, THE WORK WAS OUTSTANDING. HIGH QUALITY WORK AND WINDOWS. ALL OF THE WINDOWS WERE ON THE SECOND STORY OF THE HOUSE.

I UNDERSTAND A REP MAY GET DELAYED, HOWEVER, IF THE SALES REP WILL BE LATE FOR AN APPOINTMENT, A CALL SHOULD BE MADE PRIOR TO THE APPOINTMENT TIME, NOT HALF AN HOUR AFTER. FELT IT WAS UNPROFESSIONAL TO NOT CALL AND LET ME KNOW.

THE ONLY THING THAT HAS BEEN ACCEPTABLE ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE IS THE PRICE. EVERYTHING ELSE HAS BEEN COMPLETELY LOUSY. I CALLED THEM 4 TIMES BEFORE I EVEN GOT A PERSON, EVEN AFTER THEY CASHED MY DOWN PAYMENT CHECK. IM DISGUSTED THAT THEY WOULD TAKE MY MONEY AND THEN NOT EVEN HAVE THE COURTESY TO RETURN MY PHONE CALL. IT HAS BEEN 4 WEEKS NOW AND STILL NO WORK, THE SALES REP TOLD ME WORK WOULD BEGIN IN A COUPLE WEEKS (2). THEN THIS MORNING WHEN I FINALLY TALKED WITH A PERSON, THE GUY TOLD ME IT WOULD TAKE 4-6 WEEKS FOR THE WORK TO BEGIN. I REALLY FEEL THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE MORE RESPONSIVE AND AT LEAST RETURNED MY PHONE CALLS TO SAVE ME SOME FRUSTRATION. THE GUY I SPOKE WITH ON THE PHONE TOLD ME THEY WOULD CALL THIS WEEK TO SET UP AN APPT FOR NEXT WEEK, SO IM GOING TO WAIT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS BEFORE TAKING ANY FURTHER ACTION. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE WORK DONE BECAUSE IT IS AN OLD HOUSE AND I DONT WANT TO WAIT UNTIL AFTER WINTER.
Description of Work: IVE CONTRACTED WITH THEM TO DO FASCIA AND SOFFITS. I GAVE THEM A CHECK FOR 1/2 AS DOWN PAYMENT AND THEY CASHED IT, BUT HAVE NOT YET STARTED THE WORK.
