They came on time and they did the work well. They came back and touched up a few spots. They were very professional. They were very careful, clean, and very nice.

Varsity's bid was the easiest to understand. Their recommendation for a good company to repair the siding was spot on. They also made other good recommendations about the care of our siding. The work started on time and went smoothly. The crew was efficient and courteous. They cleaned up thoroughly at the end. The project went as we expected based on the bid. Communications were a little complicated because of three levels - the person who bid the job, the overall supervisor and the crew supervisor. But it all worked out okay.

They were very good! They were very helpful and their work was good. I just wish they had given me more time to choose a shade. They did a good job of showing me the different colors on my wall, but they pushed for a decision. Other than that everything went beautifully!

I never received a final invoice and they have been done for over a month. I have contacted them three times for the invoice. When the crew was getting set up for painting they broke a plastic cover for a basement window and have not responded to three calls to correct this issue. Part of the stain work was not completed and we asked them to check this but they have not responded. UPDATE- I have received the final invoice and they have replaced the broken plastic cover. They have told me they will be out this summer for the deck.

We are very pleased. They communicated well. Adjusted the schedule when our plans changed, came when they said they would and completed the job quickly.

Varsity Painters did a great job at a great price. Following hail damage to two sides of the house we wanted to repaint the whole house and their price (which was much lower than a competitive bid) allowed us to do so. We needed the work done fairly quickly and were pleased when we got a prompt call back saying that a slot had opened up and they could accommodate our schedule. After we chose our paint colors they did a test so we could see how the colors look on the house glad they did as one of the colors appeared much lighter on the house than on the swatch. We decided to go with it and are extremely pleased with the results. Joe was very responsive returned all my calls promptly and answered my questions. Also provided a thorough bid explaining the number of coats needed depending on color choice and options available. Workers were very polite and did a great job cleaning up each day when they were done working. We are very pleased with the job they did and how the house looks. Also pleased that the price came in lower than the original estimate.

They were very thorough. They did a great job of prepping. They did more than I thought anyone would do. They worked as quickly as they could. They came early and had sanded while our windows were open and it did make a mess. They were very courteous. They really listened to our needs. They worked with us on the estimate and told us about ways to keep the cost down.

Steve Melander stopped out in the spring and gave me a thorough estimate which included two coats of paint, a 3 year guarantee, and the choice of an upgrade to Pratt and Lambert exterior paint, which I chose because of Consumer Reports data on the paint. Prior to starting, Grayson, the foreman, stopped by with a sample of the color I had chosen and applied it to the house to make sure I was confident in the color. He then sent a team out to pressure wash the house. Approximately two weeks later a team of 5 guys arrived to scrape and sand off the old paint. Vincente was in charge of the guys who worked on the house. I stayed home one morning to work alongside them to make sure everything was prepped as well as I wanted. The guys took care of whatever area I asked them to address. They applied peel-bond to old shakes and primer to new shakes. The guys then applied two coats of paint with a sprayer. They did an excellent job with no visible drips and great attention to detail. Vincent and Juan then focused on the trim and the two of them did an excellent job with great attention to detail. I could not have been happier with the outcome or more impressed with the quality of work. Plus, they were really nice guys to have around for a week. And, Grayson checked in regularly to make sure everything was going well and he answered my calls early in the morning and after work. The guys also cleaned up and put things away at the end of each work day.

I have used the company several times and will use them again in the future. The owner actually showed up on the site to thank me and thank the workers. They are very friendly and accommodating.

The estimating process was fine. It was the execution that was - and a year later - still is a problem. The project supervisor (Tony) would have his crew show up and start, but then they would leave and I would have to call to get them to come back. At one point he was going to power wash the deck right before a rain storm and then start staining the next day before the deck was dry- which is a bad practice. During the initial walkthrough I explained that all surfaces should be stained except for the walls of the gazebo. When they said they were done, there were streaks of deck that were missed and they had completely missed the deck floor of the gazebo. It took most of the summer to get that done, and it was done so badly it had to be redone. During this process, Tony wanted the rest of the outstanding payment - and I paid him all except 10%. The minute I did that he left and his crew left the job site and didn't return calls for two months. I get that I never should've paid for most of the work when it wasn't done. A month ago, I called Varsity Painters again because there are more area where the stain has just come off and it looks terrible. Pam promised that their "touch up" crews were in the area and would address my problems in two weeks. I just spoke to another person at Varsity Painters today, who said they can't tell me anything about when they will get to me. That they have a different team who does this and they don't have any visibility to their schedules. She was, however, confident that the crew would get to me - and this is a direct quote: "sometime this summer", and she didn't see anything wrong with that statement. I really feel like I held off on this review to give Varsity Painters every opportunity to make things right. Most of the companies I've worked with on Angie's List have been great - just not this one.

It was all accomplished in 2 days, and they left the house very clean. The walls were thoroughly prepped and the paint job beautiful. They had previously done the exterior of our home. There were a few areas that needed a touch up, and they did it for no charge, even though it had been 2 years since it had been painted. Joe Perry was a pleasure to work with.

It was a very close call, but we chose a different company to paint our home because we were unsure about Varsity Painters' insurance policy. We wanted to be sure that the company we hired did not subcontract the work but kept each employee under full liability coverage. It was hard not to hire Varsity. Their estimate was great. If this were a smaller job with fewer insurance risks, we would have hired them.

They did a great job with much attention to detail and great clean-up.

I began getting estimates to paint my house in March in hopes that I would be on the list for early to mid-May. I finally decided on Varsity who was an "A" rated contractor on Angie's List. Other than the history, price and Member comments I was impressed by Steve Melander, part owner of the Company who was nonchalant, not pushy but effective. He gave me a list of over 200 projects that they had completed in the last two years, suggested that I inspect some of them, see if they met my expectations then make a decision. I said I would, I did, I signed on. However, we had a little problem setting an actual schedule because of the unstable weather but once it was underway, the crew performed extremely well. Kudos, to Tony, the foreman, Francisco, the Crew shift leader and the rest. After completion, Steve walked through with me while doing a nitpicky type inspection. I would use them again.

I was referred to Varsity Painters by the company that was installing my new window. I had the crew from varsity come out 3 times over the past 3 years, as the new windows were installed in phases. Each time, I requested that the same crew come out because I was very impressed with the quality of their work. They were able to make the newly stained trim match beautifully with the surrounding wood. They were very professional and easy to work with. I would definitely use them in the future.

Awesome. Joe Perry and his team are the only company you need to look at. Their bid was fair, they communicated clearly and actually ended up waiting for us on some items (timing of other projects in the house). They were very patient and worked on items (stripping paper, skim coating, then painting) as the other projects were completing. The crew was respectful and very careful as they worked in our new home. The painting looks fantastic. A super experience. Our neighbors across the street used them too and had the same feelings.

They were great. Did the whole job in two days. Very nice work. Paid attention to minimizing the mess. Moved the heavy items. Watched the volume during toddlers nap time. Also, they had a cancellation coming up the week after they came for the estimate. Offered a good discount if we could have it done right away. Within a week of the estimate, the job was done.

Varsity Painters was a pleasure to work with. They accommodated our schedule with a great outcome. Their work was top quality.

Called late summer and agreed to come promptly before it got too cold. Came during that week and pressure washed and covered windows, etc. Was quite cold that weekend. Arrived, then decided that they would come back the next weekend, hoping that it would be warmer. We asked if they could continue that day, because we thought the next weekend would be colder. After weighing the pros and cons, decided to paint that weekend. Did a great job, got warmer as the day went on. Perfect timing.

Fantastic! Not only did they know exactly how to fix the walls and deal with the duct work, they helped us with color selection and even fixed our base boards! We were very impressed with the team and how quickly they were able to get the work done. We used multiple colors and they did a beautiful job on the both the accent and regular walls. And those carpentry skills sure came in handy. We went from old and dirty - to clean, contemporary and very hip (if we do say so ourselves!). Our rooms look fabulous. It is a brand new place. Thank you for all of the extra help and TLC on our project. You guys are the best!

I received an estimate from Joe in a very reasonable time period. The price was competitive, but what impressed me was Joe taking the time to offer suggestions on the color schemes and additional considerations. I felt the advice I received was very informative and appropriate, not just bidding up the price! I was given options that the other bids did not offer. The project was on time (I was actually squeezed in between other jobs) based on my need to get the house on the market. We received a quality job and when we had a need for a return visit it was done promptly at no additional charge. I will absolutely use Varsity Painters again!

The contractor showed up on time. He walked me around the house pointing out problem areas and explaining the company's pricing. During the course of walking around, my preschooler locked us out of the house. The contractor quickly stepped in and helped me get back inside.

Estimate given by Steve. They came out and painted our color choices in several places on the house so we could see the colors on the house and be sure they were what we wanted before the job actually got started. Francisco and his crew were very conscientious and professional. We misread one item in the contract and were able to reconcile this to our complete satisfaction by working with the salesperson. House looks great.

Joe was very personable and professional during the cost estimate visit. I received estimates from 3 painting companies and the price from Varsity was very competitive. The crew were polite and did a great job cleaning up at the end of each work day and the project. They were very responsive when I asked them to re-do a couple of areas that either needed another coat or the cutting in was not done to my satisfaction. I was very happy with the final look of the walls and ceiling. I referred them to my neighbor who also used them for both interior and exterior work.

We winter in Florida. Joe was great to work with via phone to get quotes and work descriptions. The crew arrived when he said they would and completed the work in the time frame he said they would. The crew was very professional, worked hard, cleaned up every evening, didn't play loud music and were pleasant to have around.
