Their warranty work was fantastic. Their original estimate was very reasonable; they showed up on time; they had a right-sized crew. They finished the job in under a week, and the results looked fantastic. But the best part was 11 months later. Two or three small areas needed additional attention. They came out to look at the problems the same day I called. They spotted a couple of additional areas that needed touching up. They had a guy come out the next week and spend a full day spiffing up the original job - all at no cost to us.

Wonderful, wonderful! Joe Perry, Curt, and crew were great. Joe's help with color selection was invaluable. The value-added services were extremely helpful. (Rather than needing to hire a carpenter to replace damaged siding, Joe's crew took care of that too.) Their attention to detail and quality work was excellent! We'd hire them again in a minute!

Overall, I would give them an A+. The crew was friendly and courtious and they were very detailed oriented and Joe Perry made sure the crew did everything possible to meet and exceed my expectations. The house looks like new and I am very, very pleased with the job the three-person crew did on my house. Even the carpenters were very skilled and built a new rail and put up new cedar on my boat house. My house is HUGE and it was very treacherous to paint in certain areas, but it all turned out perfectly. Joe knew ahead of time, that I did not want a "quick" and they did not cut any corners. The clean up was very good and a job really well done. In addition, I just had new gutters installed from another Angie's List provider and the painting crew accidently scratched the gutters with the ladders, and I mentiond this to the owner Joe Perry, and after viewing the superfical scratches on the long Gutter Topper, there was not hesitation to replace it. Many other contractors would have attempted to replace the gutters, but NOT Varsity Painters. This is absolutely a testimony to the overall excelllence you can expect if you hire the firm. Overall, I would hire them again and their prices were very competitive and the quality of work was OUTSTANDING! Thank you VARSITY PAINTERS!

Over a month went by and then suddenly a paint truck and crew shows up and they go to work! They redid all the work above. They did a great job. The end job is great, it?s just kind of bizarre getting there. I wouldn?t hire them again because of this lack of communication and continuity. It?s unsettling when you leave a message and don?t get call backs and there is such a time difference.

Crew came in and worked long hours. They were quiet and easy to work with. Job was completed in 1 1/2 days.

The owner, Joe was very helpful when we were trying to determine which colors we wanted. We have an older home and we did not want it to look garish, but we wanted a multiple color scheme. Joe was very patient and was willing to come out multiple times with paint swatches. He worked with us on different ideas and suggestions. He was very responsive to us and if we called and he was unavailable he was always very quick to call us back. The work on the exterior of our home took about three weeks, while the clubhouse only took about three days.

The estimator Joe, was very prompt and thorough with the estimate. I was very impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. The estimate was reasonable and in the ballpark with others that I received. I chose Varsity painters based on the thoroughness of the estimate as well as the bottom line. Joe estimated they would start the job, around the end of June and true to promise, they called and set up the exact time for the end of June. From the time the crew chief, Curt arrived, (promptly Monday am) I knew I had made the right choice. They were prompt every day and Eddie and his team worked very hard. They were excellent painters and went above and beyond, even painting and repairing a couple of things that hadn't been anticipated. Additionally, they were really neat and cleaned up at the end of each day. At the end of the job, Curt and I walked around the house and inspected everything. He assured me that if there are any problems to call Varsity and they will correct any issues. They provided me with a 2 year guarantee. I would definitely recommend this company, they were a pleasure to work with and my home looks terrific!

It went very well. The crew worked really hard and did a nice very job. The project manager was available for questions at any time and stopped by daily to check on progress. We had to make some changes during the week (i.e. adding the gutters and a large front window) and everyone was very accomodating.

They repainted some of the trim and the stuckel. It went really well and they were on time. They did a good job and we were very pleased with them. There were no spills and they cleaned up once the job was done. Their quality of work is good and they were professional.

They are the best value and painting was good. They assumed the paint quality than asking from us. The detailing may not be as one would expect and may not be a problem for many. The site supervisor tend to assume he knows better than the customer. Overall, I'd go with them again based on the value.

Joe Perry is the contact person there. They gave good recommendations as far as appropriate paints to use, and if I had questions or concerns, they addressed them. The two painters who did the actual work were detail-oriented, and really tried hard to please me. They were very careful not to damage my furniture and my carpets, and they cleaned up after themselves. I felt that their price was competitive.

They seem to be reasonable and are prompt. They do a good job. I would give them a good overall rating.

It was fine. They did the job in October so it was getting towards the end of the season. They were very careful as far as putting down protective coverings. It did not take them that long to do the job and the job they did looks great.

It was very good. They did a good job at being on time. They also cleaned up very well. The workers were very kind and courteous. They got the job done.

They were very communicative and prompt about making an estimate appointment and coming out. I was nervous about the work being completed before it became too cold, and the estimator said there would be enough time and guaranteed that. Once they started, it was somewhat nerve racking simply because they needed to pull off aluminum storms all around the house, which was noisy and rather jarring. A couple of windows broke, but there was never a question they would repair these, which they ultimately did. The project seemed to drag on, but that may have just been an illusion caused by my nervousness about getting it done in time. The crew was friendly and responsive to my questions and concerns. They were careful and cleaned up pretty well after the work. At the end all work was completed, but there were a couple of touch-ups needed that could not be done because the temperatures finally fell too low. They guaranteed me these would be done in the spring; in fact, in the final settle-up, they had me hold back $200, payable upon completions of the touch ups. A nice touch, I thought.

I was not impressed. I had to ask them several times to re-do certain things that they had done. Some of the trimming needed some sanding in order to make it smoother, and they just were trying to paint over it. Also on the tops of the doors, there were areas that needed to be smoothed down. There were 4 painters, and I had the impression that one of them had maybe never painted before. They also painted the doors with rollers instead of spray painting, and I had them re-do those. When they tried to put the doors back up, they had problems getting the doors to fit back on. It seemed like they were being rushed by the supervisor as they must have had another job to do. They did take about two days longer than they said that the job would take. I really did not have a problem with the fact that it took longer. I wanted the job to be done right, so I was insisting that they re-do things. The workers were open to re-do things.

They were fantastic. The estimate they gave us was reasonable. They were very patient with me as I changed my mine several times. They were good to bring samples to me and gave me good advice. Our house looked beautiful when they were finished.

They held to their estimate. They kept the work site pretty clean throughout the projest. Overall this company was on time and tidy and I would recommend them to a friend.

We decided to do the work ourselves, so we didn't use them.

The crew was experienced and professional and the owner checked on them daily.

Overall response based on short notice was very good. Did a great job!

I chose Varsity because they gave the lowest bid and the guy who bid was very personable. We also checked out other houses they'd painted. Now that we're done, my house looks great, but the process left something to be desired. I was surprised to have to deal with basic things like the workers leaving pop cans, open cans of paint, two razor blades in the yard, and storm windows outside overnight and during a rainstorm; workers removing a broken window and leaving the pane missing overnight wide open to the outside; then puttying in the new window pane, but then not cleaning it of their putty fingerprints before screwing the storm onto the outside of the house, etc. They DID respond when I brought these things up, but I was disappointed to have to call their attention to this pretty basic lack of good workmanship. I'm not a picky person, so things have to be kind of appalling to rile me--like workers leaving open windows or razor blades left overnight on the porch and in the grass of a house with pets and toddlers, for example. In spending this much money with a company I just would have expected more attention to common sense detail and pride in their work. The last weird thing was the guy who bid the job sending his foreman to settle the bill with the news that they'd done more painting than we'd agreed to and wanted to charge us more! (We said no, which they accepted without a battle.) I want to be clear that the final paint job looks GREAT and they cleaned up well at the end, but I can only recommend them if you don't mind having to oversee (or overlook) sloppiness throughout the process.

Very professional, straightforward and honest. Periodic updates as to timing and status. Followed up with punch list of touch ups promptly and completely. Very reasonably priced and good quality work.

The company was very responsive and scheduled me right away and started the work as scheduled. The workers were prompt and courteous. Much of the work was acceptable, and most of the time when there were problems, they were corrected. However, the detail of the work was less than perfect - the windows were taped with a type of tape that has left visible residue on most of my windows which is very hard to remove. Most of the paint was done with sprayers, which results in less than perfectly clean results on trim. A few items were never completed in spite of several phone calls after the fact. Some of the work had to be sanded off and repeated owing to less than professional supervision. While this was done, it would have been better to have had the work done well the first time. So, in the main, the work was completed in an acceptable manner, but due to the messy details, I feel that overall I have injured the quality of my home.

Very well. The only negative was they came later than they said and didn't give me a heads up. But other than that, they were thorough, very polite and did a great job. No messes to clean up and did a great job with trim, etc.
