We had 4 basement windows replaced. Had the estimator out; got an estimate on the spot. Setup the install for 2 weeks later. The weekend before the install was scheduled, we ended up with a layout change which now put our future basement bathroom in with one of the windows being replaced. We had not planned this we the Twin Cities Glass Block and had planned to have all 4 of our windows be made with the non-frosted blocks. This lead me to ask, a day before the scheduled install, to have that one switch to the frosted style. Like that it was done, no hassle at all. Thanks for being so responsive!

We decided to replace 2 small windows in our home, to increase energy efficiency & home security. Mike and his crew did an excellent job. Very professional with the in-home estimate and the install of the 2 windows. This was a small job, but Mike did not treat it that way. The work was done in a very timely manner, price was excellent, and overall experience was very positive.

Our initial phone call was promptly returned, and Mike arrived for the estimate punctually. He was efficient, thorough, and excellent at the estimate, and exactly the same for the installation. The windows are snug and gorgeous, the work was swift and masterful, and they left our basement cleaner than they found it. Impossible to overpraise them.

The entire job was flawless! Mike came out to measure the windows and the installation date was established for September 7th. Glenn and Shawn arrived on time and were extremely careful of my plants near the basement windows. The old windows and storms were removed; the openings were prepared; the glass block windows were set in place and installed. THe concrete around the glass block windows matches the exisitng concrete. The new glass block windows add favorably to the looks of the house, provide light into the basement while increasing the security and the warmth. (We should have done this thirty years or more ago!!!) The removal of the old windows and installation of the glass block windows took around 4.5 hours. The clean-up was thorough! I would definitely call Twin Cities Glass Block for future projects!
Description of Work: We live in a nearly one hundred year old house with five (5) generous sized basement windows. Replaced windows with glass block windows (two without vents, two with vents, and one with a dryer vent).

Mike came out to do an estimate on Tuesday, August 21st and windows were scheduled to be installed on Friday, August 24th. I was concerned that due to the age of the house and type of basement (limestone) that I would have to do a lot of prep work prior to the windows being installed but Mike assured me that there would be no problem with the installation and not to worry about it. Friday came and I believe the guys name is Sean and his partner showed up.... about 15 minutes early which I was actually really glad about. They went right to work; fast, efficient, polite are a few of the words I can use to described these EXPERTS. Unbelievable! They explained things to me when I asked questions. To top it off with, they finished early. They walked me around... inside and out; explained the curing process and when I could start to use the vents (which I absolutely love), etc. Cleaned everything up and BAM...they were outta there. Thanks to these 2 great guys for doing an awesome job! FABULOUS AND I AM SO HAPPY!!! P.S. I take customer service/promptness/reliability very serious as I am in that type of field. And I have had a few less than "awesome" experiences on a couple other people that I contacted for jobs...I cannot say anything negative here and my last two interactions with business dealings has brought me back into being a happy member of Angie's List. Thanks much.

Outstanding. I had an immediate response on an estimate via email after I contacted them. When I called to arrange for a visit for an estimate we set a date and time early in the morning which worked with my schedule. They showed up early for the estimate and it was done quickly and in line with the earlier email estimate. We set a date for install 2-weeks out to fit in with our schedule. On the date of install two workers showed up within the arrival window. They were professional, good about explaining what they did and guidelines following install, they kept areas clean and neat. Overall took about 3-hours. Great to work with.

I called Mike and asked for an estimate and timeline to replace 4 basement windows. He came out the next day- measured and looked at windows both inside and out. Gave me reasonable price. Two days later the job was done quickly and the workmen cleaned up any trace of the work. They took old windows. I was so impressed by quality of windows, workmanship and promptness- I called back to have 2nd story bathroom window replaced with glass block window. That window work was done in the same quality way.
Description of Work: I had hired TCGB 2 times in March. The first time was to replace 4 old basement windows with glass block windows. They did such an excellent job at a reasonable price I called them to come a week later and replace an old 2nd story bathroom window. Again, the job was done quickly with attention to detail. Mike was the contact at TCGB- very helpful and prompt! Hiring a company to do work like this- you cannot find better !

Estimate Process: Simple. I called in early December 2011, described what I wanted and asked a couple of questions, and noted what type of block I wanted and confirmed the dryer vent in the indicated window. Someone (MIke) came out, looked, measured, and left me an estimate. I was not present at the property at the time of the estimate. I called back afterwards and asked a couple of questions about when the work could be done. It needed to be above freezing so they would contact me when that was the case. Scheduling Process: Simple. TCGB called when the forecast was going to be above freezing. I was unavailable the first time this happened in late Dec/early Jan. They kept me on the list. The next time they called a couple days in advance. I confirmed the time and date. I was told someone would call me 30 mins prior to arrival of the installers. Day of Install: I did not receive a 30 min warning call. I work about 15 mins away. Not sure what the issue was with that. I did receive a call from the main office that the guys were at my home but not one was there. I was actually on my way there when this happened. Looking at my phone records I show no 30 min call. It was a minor blip and I have no gripes about it. Confusion like this sometimes happens. Actual Install: The two installers were quick and efficient. The removed the old windows quickly. Got the blocks in place, grouted/cemented, left me some instructions, cleaned up, and done. The windows look great. My only issues is that I overheard them talking about something splitting and did they have nails. Upon inspection after they left, I noticed that part of the top wood frame on one of the windows had split. Likely a result of the old window tear out process. There are some fresh shiny nails in it. I don't have an issue with it and it doesn't impact the functioning of my home or the windows. However I would like to have been appraised of what happened directly, rather than discovering it on my own. Again, it isn't a problem overall, but I think it bears noting. Final Outcome: Three perfectly installed and fit glass block basement windows. Love them. I highly recommend Twin Cities Glass Block for this work.
Description of Work: I had three basement windows replaced with glass block. Two included the standard vents and one included a dryer vent for a future home improvement project. One window was boarded up and the two others were in significant disrepair.

Overall, we were really happy with the result, the windows have made a huge difference and appear very high quality. The two things that kept me from rating them excellent was that they left an empty bag of the concrete/cement mix in our lawn and the basement in the area that they worked had a lot of dust/debris afterward that wasn't cleaned up. I made a point to clean it beforehand but afterward there was considerable debris left behind that I found myself cleaning up. In the future, I would hire them again they were competent, efficient, and pleasant... I'd just make a point of doublechecking the workspace(s) before they left.
Description of Work: We had 4 basement windows replaced with glass block in our 1900's house that we just purchased. They put them together at their shop and then they brought them out and installed them. There were six or seven windows. They installed it in a day. We have an older home which is hundred years old. It has really made a difference. We used to have water come along the windows. It has pretty much taken care of that problem. I wish we had that done years ago. It lights up the basement really well. The workers that came out were good. We were very pleased with the price. We would use them again in the future if needed.

I highly recommend them and would hire them again. We had glass block windows installed on part of the house 13 years ago and they did such a great job back to do more!
Description of Work: They came to our house very quickly to look at the project and gave the written estimate on site. The estimate was exactly what was charged. On the day of the installation, they removed the three old basement windows, along with the security bars and installed the new glass block windows. They did a wonderful job cleaning up after themselves.
