TWIN CITIES GLASS BLOCK

The folks at Twin Cities Glass Block were an absolute delight to work with. I own an older building in St. Paul and was looking to install glass block windows with ventilation in the basement. I gave them a call and set up a time for them to come over and give an estimate. The gentleman who came to do the estimate was the same one who lead the installation later, which was terrific to have that continuity. He showed up on time, asked all the right questions, answered all of my questions thoroughly, and gave me an estimate for the work. I accepted the estimate right then and there, chose all the options for windows, and we scheduled an install date about two weeks out. The day before the scheduled installation, I got a reminder call about the installation the next day. Wow! The installers showed up promptly and got to business. They finished sooner than they had promised and did an excellent job. I inspected all the windows, was given instructions for drying times for the cement, etc. and wrote them a check for the exact same amount as we had agreed upon at the time of the estimate. He wrote me a receipt, and we were done. Afterward, there was no sign that they had been there aside from the beautiful new windows! This was by far the best experience that I have ever had with a company in doing renovations, and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to others. Thanks TC Glass Block!

They were really good. Mike Nelson and his assistant were terrific. Punctual and professional. They answered all our questions. It was a pleasure to work with them.

Everything went very smooth from start to finish. I contacted them for a bid and received an email with their pricing for basement windows and bathroom windows. This made it simple. I thought the prices were fair so Mike came out to measure the windows and explained the process. I signed the bid, no money up front. Mike even texted me a picture of my options for the bathroom window vents, so I would know how it would look in advance. The office called me to set up a time to do the work. The crew came out in a timely manner and completed the work without a hassle and cleaned up after and disposed of the old windows. Everyone I spoke to and had contact with was friendly and professional. The windows look great!

Overall, this was a great and pretty easy experience! I had them come to do a quote last fall but it was too late to install them that season; they said the quote would be good for the spring. I contacted them this summer, they had the quote on file, and were able to schedule an installation within a couple weeks--perfect timing for me. I received a call confirming an arrival time--they ended up showing up an hour earlier (which is when I originally thought they were going to show) but it worked out fine, just unexpected. There were two men in the crew and they got right to work. At the end of the day I came home to 7 beautiful new windows and a basement full of just the right light! The mortar for the dryer vent had to set so I had to put the dryer vent hose on the fitting after 24 hours but that wasn't too tough. Because of the reviews on Angie's List and history of the company I didn't get other quotes for this service and it appears I chose well! So glad to have the first of many home improvement projects completed!

After this past winter I noticed that the seam between two windows had broken down and was open to the outside. I called TC Glass Block, and they said they would come by and look at it. They not only looked at it, but they sealed up the seam that had broken down. As I said, the actual windows were installed a number of years ago, so I was delighted that after all this time that they were willing to fix the windows for no charge.

Excellent! I highly recommend these guys. They did measure the wrong size initially and so had to come back (but frankly, the first day was still too cold for them to do the work anyway; the day we scheduled was way colder than predicted and I'd offered to have them come back because of the temperature anyway). They were super efficient and even worked around a conference call I had to make (I let them know up front, so we arranged it such that the noisy demo stuff was done before the call). They were so super quite during the call. Because I'm in St. Louis Park, they did have to get permits, and there was absolutely no problem with that. Finally, when the inspector looked at the windows I asked about the work, and he said it was very, very well done (and we took a look together and he explained where they could have cut corners, but did not). I can't recommend this company enough! Nice work, good price.

The installation went smoothly, and the crew did a great job cleaning up. We really appreciate the increased security - and sunlight - these windows provide.

Absolutely perfect! I was not home, gave him the garage code and Mike Nelson came in and did the work. It is all I could have imagined. Perfect installation, super clean-up! The week before installation they came and measured the windows. The next week two men installed the 6 windows in about 2 hours. They did a great job, they look great and are a very nice improvement.

Mike came & did the estimate & he also did the window installs with Sean. Both fantastic guys. I originally was only going to get 2 done now & 2 next year, but was told the more I get done all at once, the cheaper each windows get. It was an excellent idea because it saved me a lot of money after adding all of them up. I always love, love, love businesses that actually answer there phones & you don`t get voice mail. So, thank you & they were very pleasant. When Mike & Sean came to put the windows in, it was very systematic. They were very clean both inside & out & cleaned up after themselves, removing all the old windows, the rotted wood & everything else. Other than having new windows & needing to put new trim around them, you can`t tell they were even here. I was worried about some other workers who were here doing something else, & Mike offered to help speak up for me. It ended up good & I didn`t need him to. What a gentleman though. So rare to find good honest contractors. Everything worked out great with the other project going on at the same time as this one & my glass block window projects turned out spectacular!!!! Mike explained to me where I could nail the new trim on & make it easier for me. Things went great & smooth.

We were able to get an estimate the day after our initial call, which was important because of the cold weather coming. Installation was done about 1 week later on one of the last warm enough days. Installers showed up a little early which was fine with us and did a wonderful job with installation and clean up. Price was very competitive with other window companies that we contacted. Mike was right on time for the estimate and installation. They did a great job and left no mess. I would highly recommend them. My husband was worried until I showed him from the inside that the windows are very sturdy. We have an old home so not everything is exactly the same size.

This is a family-run business. Dad did the estimate. He was friendly and extremely informative. Gave me a date when they could do the job. Son and his assistant arrived right on time. He explained what they were going to do. They replaced six windows in three hours. My basement was cleaner when they finished than when they started. The new windows look great. Would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Great overall process! Pricing was very straightforward and on a per window basis. Awesome communication, called when an appointment opened up earlier. Install was quick and looks amazing. Very courteous and left the area around the windows looking great. Highly recommended!!!

They measured and built the windows ahead of time so they just had to fit them the day of install. The removed all of the windows (and storm windows) and installed the new ones. Simple as that. The new window set more forward than the old ones. That and the fact that they are all glass block, no trim, means that more light is being let into the basement than before. The install went smooth. Took them about 2 hours start to finish. I was worried about them getting the measurements right for my 100+ yr old house, but everything looks great. The cost to benefit ratio of replacing my old basement windows is incredible. I should have done this years ago.

Overall everything went well and on time. Only criticism, not even a complaint, is that some silicone caulking was not done on one window and a few screws were left out. I did it myself a few days later. I should have checked before the guys left and I'm sure they would have gladly done the work.

The installer arrived on the day and at the time promised. The installation went smoothly and the clean up excellent. If I needed additional glass block work I would not hesitate to use this company.

Played phone-tag for a few days, then talked with rep and made an appointment for an estimate. Mike came-out about a week later to provide an estimate, and I set an installation date before he left. About 1-1/2 weeks later, Mike and another guy arrived early for their install appt (they called first). They were in-and-out within a couple hours, were efficient and professional, and left the work areas clean.

They showed up on -time and were done faster and for less than what they quoted. Window looks great, they did exactly what they said they would, when they said they would. The whole process, from initial contact to installation, was polite, professional and clear. We are very happy with the results.

I highly recommend Twin Cities Glass Block. I first contacted TCGB through their website. I received a price list within a day by email. When I called to schedule an official estimate Mike was able to come out the very next day. His estimate matched the price list exactly. Mike was prompt, professional and friendly for both the estimate and the job. As a bonus, I got my basement back even cleaner than I had left it!
