I've used this company before and they do great work. It seems that this year they significantly raised their prices, and it seemed from other Angie's reports that it had been a while since they had done so, so perhaps they were past-due to adjust pricing. However, when my wife called for a quote for work on a house we just bought, their prices didn't make any sense to me so I called back to make sure I had it right. Their quote over the phone was $305 for three windows (which is what I needed done) and $225 for four windows or more. This doesn't make sense because my job would cost $915 for three windows, but if I ordered four windows it would cost only $900-- even though they are using more inventory units, labor and materials. Sure enough, they confirmed the information. Any business can price their goods and services any way they want to-- I'm fine with that, even if it doesn't make any sense in terms of volume discounting schemes. As a consumer, I'm entitled to ask questions about things that don't make sense to me, until either they do or I decide that I don't want to do business with a company. When I asked if I could get a discount for being a previous customer, he got more agitated and said no. I respect that. When I asked if I could buy four windows but just have them install three so I can pay $15 less, the man on the phone got REALLY ticked. He told me he's been in business for 24 years, and he must be doing something right, and he knows how his business works. But then he crossed the line and became unprofessional. He wanted to know what I did that makes me so smart about pricing. What I did for a living. If he could learn about my business model (which I never asked about, I just wanted to understand the price). In short, he became pretty offensive. I reminded him that I'm an Angie's List member and that I would be sure to report on this experience, to which he responded, "Why, are you some 'do-gooder' boy scout?" Wow. If that's not hostility, I don't know what is. In fact, he was so worked up, when I tried to end the call he kept ranting about why I need to post anything on Angie's List. Maybe they are more concerned about their reputation to the masses than their behaviour to individual customers. Eventually, I had to hang up on him because he was so worked up I couldn't get a word in to tell him I had to go. Anyway, if you care how you are treated as a consumer I wouldn't work with them. If you care how you are treated as a returning customer, I wouldn't work with them. If you don't really care about those factors but you want the job done well-- all I can say is they did a great job at my last house. However, they were also a lot more pleasant to work with too. Maybe pricing and attitude toward the customer isn't all that has changed.

This job was about as perfect as you can get. The estimator was right on time and gave me some advice about how to get access to a window that was partially blocked. The workmen called the day before to check and showed up right when they said they would. They worked quickly and did a great job of cleaning up when they were done. The windows look great and are a big improvement. I couldn't be more satisfied.

It went really good. When I first went to the company, I talked with Mike, and I had told him that I was going to look around and he mentioned that whoever we hired use mortar and not silicone on the windows as it wasn't up to code. I really appreciated his help on that and when we talked on the phone what it and if I chose him, he had an online coupon we could use, and that he would come out and measure the windows. The windows came with a five year warranty and we are totally delighted. They cleaned up the site, all the screws and glass was removed and they took it with them.
Description of Work: They removed the old windows and took the mess away and they had the new windows ready to install. Seven windows and it took about four hours. They came out previously to measure the windows.

Very well. The windows look great. They showed up right on time and completed the work within the time estimated. It was easy to call and get my questions answered. I appreciated that when the employee came out to give me an estimate he advised what things I needed to move out of the way before work began (so I didn't get surprised with that the day of installation). They took away all the debris (just left a little concrete dust that was easy to clean up). Price was as estimated. Very professional work. I had them installed two months ago and no leaking has occurred.

After a month trying to get a time scheduled with another company, we called Twin Cities Glass Block and there was someone out there that week to do measurements and an estimate. Very pleasant to deal with and efficient from the initial contact. They were done in less than 3 hours, everything was left clean, and the window is beautifully done, nice masonry work and caulking. We have received several compliments. A nice company to deal with.

We did not use this company. ($1,625)
Description of Work: We got a quote for 5 basement windows, 22"x36", which were quoted over the phone to be $325 each. We went with a different company based on a more competitive price and comparable quality. The company that did our windows used a silicone bond to construct the windows and then mortared the window units directly against the limestone window openings. They feel solid and secure. We inquired with this company and the company we went with as to the variance in security of silicone v.s. mortar, which was our primary concern. Ultimately, we were not convinced that mortar used in the glass block joints is far more secure than silicone, so we went with the other company.

Overall, this company is great. Very easy. One call to the company is all it took. Salesperson who came out (Mike) was early (never happens) and completed the quote in less than 10 minutes. Windows were installed a week later. They all look great. Only small issue is one of the installers was kind of crabby and was resentful for having to work on a Saturday due to the rain. Overall, great job and would highly recommend.

This company was speedy and professional. We called for a quote on a Tuesday. They came out to look at the job that day and came back Thursday of the same week to install the windows. They did a great job. The windows look great and we feel the job was done at a reasonable price. The whole project was done, price to installation, within 3 days.

Twin Cities Glass Block showed up when they said that they would and were able to schedule our project within two weeks. We are happy with windows, but we aren't happy with the extra cement that they left on our lawn. The interior clean up was fine, but they left huge chunks of concrete all over the lawn.

The process went very well. The ability to receive an initial estimate on the phone was helpful. The person measuring provided choices between work done by the company or us. The installation time was moved a day earlier than originally scheduled, and the installers came within the scheduled window. The work was done quickly.

Company was able to give an estimate over the phone based on window dimensions. They scheduled the rep to come out and make actual measurements and also scheduled the installation on the same initial call. Very efficient. Rep appeared right on time to measure; I picked out the block style. For installation, again, they appeared right on time, removed old window, installed new one and took away the debris. Looks very nice! Easy to work with this company.

Called on a Friday, they asked a few questions and said that it would be $250 per window. At that time I scheduled someone to come out & do measurements for the next Tuesday & work to be completed the following Friday. The person came out measured & gave me a quote of $1106.50, which was a bit more than the phone quote due to the $36 cost for a permit & 2 additional vents being needed for a dryer & furnace. Salesperson who did the measuring showed up about 15 minutes early & the installers arrived within the 2 hour time frame I was given. The installation went well and took about 3 hours. They cleaned completely & took all the old windows with them to dispose of. The only real problem that occurred was that the person who measured neglected to notice the security bars in the window, which would have been an additional cost, but they honored the original quote since it was their error. It's been about 2 weeks since the work was done & we are very happy with the results.

Very easy to communicate with and arrived early to install. Did a speedy and excellent job. Only complaint was when they were ripping out one of the old windows, a piece of exterior stucco was knocked off with a crow bar. I wished they had informed me, rather I found it after they had left the job. It was easily patched. The price seemed very fair, I would highly recommend.

I called and got an immediate answer and an estimate over the phone (which was exactly on target). Reid explained that they could not do an installation unless the temperature was above 32 degrees. The very first day the predictions of warmer temperatures appeared on the map, they called and made an appointment. They were on time, worked quickly and carefully, and finished the project well under their estimated time. Plus, they carted all the old windows off with them when they left!

They were able to give us an estimate over the phone, and came out to measure and determine the style of block. Very courteous staff. We have a 1924 house, and the basement windows would not fit standard block sizes, so the discussed how they would be able to fill in the extra space with concrete, that can then be painted to match the exterior. There were four guys here to install, and it took them 5 hours to do 5 basement windows and 1 bathroom window. Everyone was very polite and courteous. They did very nice finish work around the windows and cleaned up well afterwords.

I got an accurate estimate over the phone. A technician came out to measure the window soon after that. Three technicians came to replace the windows. They were personable, unobtrusive and fast. As an added bonus, my napping baby slept through the whole thing (though I suppose that had nothing to do with the company per se). The final cost was exactly as estimated. I wrote a check out of the wrong check book and called the next day to see if they would hold the check and let me swap it for a new one. They were very pleasant and allowed me to do this.

This company was recommended to me by a friend, and they did a great job. They showed up on time for all appointments. It was raining on the scheduled install date, so they called me first thing in the morning and were able to re-schedule for the next business day. When they came out to do the initial estimate, they actually suggested that we not install glass block in one of our windows because of piping and electrical equipment surrounding it. The price seemed competitive, and I used a coupon from Angie's List. They completed the work on time and the work was done well. Overall, a very professional company.
