Structure Tech Home Inspections

They appeared to have the most useful reports of all of the companies we investigated and that is why we went with them (see their sample inspection report on their website and it is much better than many other companies in the area) but they were a little more expensive. Scheduling was easy but they are very good so their schedule fills up fast. Schedule as soon as you can. We had Reuban (he was recommended by our realtor) and he was very quick to get through the entire inspection but he was very thorough and I would strongly recommend him. The house is a 107 year old foreclosure so they had their work cut out for them on the day of the inspection. We knew we had to replace the roof, windows, doors, siding and other items so we told him and he didn't need to spend much time on those items. That helped him to be able to check out more in-depth the items that we were not sure needed replacement or repair. He spent time explaining ways to fix items and what is most cost effective. Their 36 page report with pictures, proper installation diagrams, and how to fix the items (where simple fixes) helped us to be able to determine what repairs would be necessary to bring the house to a safe, habitable, and efficient status. Based on the inspection and a lot of cost research (and some exterior home quotes) we were able to determine what the cost to renovate would be (and if we could afford it with the purchase price). It ended up that we could and we purchased the house because of it. Without the inspection it would have been a much more difficult decision and we wouldn't have known about the ~$26,400k of additional repairs needed that we didn't know about until Reuban mentioned them on-site and in the report. The radon test was helpful because oddly enough based on the Minneapolis area and age of the house, it is one of the rare houses that does not require any radon remediation (because the levels are at or below the safe level over the entire 48 hours that they tested the house) so that saved us money in planned renovation work. I would recommend Structure Tech for all home inspections, but specifically for anyone who knows that their house may have some work that is not apparent to the typical homeowner (plumbing, gas, electrical, structural, venting, etc...). It was well worth the extra cost for a useable home inspection.

They were very thorough in looking at the whole house inside and out. They caught many items I would never have seen. They provided a very detailed report afterwards and they were also very prompt in answering questions after the inspection.

from beginning to end it was very pleasant. I was at both inspections (one with Neil and one with Reuben) and they answered all my questions with making me feel ignorant or that I was interfering with their work. The reports were done in a very timely manner. They were thorough and very useful when negotiating with client. I will use them again any time I need a home inspection without a doubt.

Barry was very professional and thorough. He explained, in detail, all of the areas that he documented in his report. He was more than willing to show us all the areas that he documented, and very helpful in explaining what everything meant. The inspection itself took about two hours, and he then spent over an hour explaining everything to us. He was easy to talk to and he seemed to be very knowledgeable in all the areas listed. He took several pictures showing the areas of concern, and walked us through every step of the inspection. We were very happy that we chose Private Eye, and Barry was a great inspector.

Excellent. Duane was very thorough and patient with us. The report provided to us was extremely detailed and gave us good guidance for possible future home repairs. In addition to being prompt, Duane was not threatened by the nasty weather conditions we had on the day of repairs. He took as much time as he needed to carefully inspect the exterior of the house, including the roof.

The inspection was scheduled for 0900 on a Thursday morning. At 0910, when I arrived, Neil and Melind were already inspecting the house foundation, had their ladder extended for roof inspection, and had turned up the heat to check the heating system on the inside of the house. They were very friendly, introducing themselves, and explaining what it was they were doing. I followed along for awhile and then went inside and proceeded to do my own minor inspection there. Over the next 3 to 4 hours, Neil and Melind inspected the entire house and garage. At times, when I was nearby, they pointed out to me their findings, particularly findings needing immediate attention. I had questions about the roof, crawl space, water heater, radiators, wiring to the garage, gas piping to the kitchen, basement floor drain, and attic insulation. They answered all of these questions revealing in depth knowledge of house structure and systems. Being with Neil and Melind while they inspected the house was fun and rewarding. I enjoyed watching them do their work, listening to their discussion of systems, and I learned much about the old house I was anticipating buying. I'm very pleased with them and their work. I'm happy I hired them. Neil and Melind are kind, professional, thorough, efficient, intelligent home inspectors. I highly recommend them.

The inspector was there before our scheduled time, and had already inspected the roof, and had some things to point out to us. We then did an outside inspection and started with the garage, and finally the house. He checked all plumbing for leaks and code violations, checked all wiring, checked furnace, looked for moisture around all windows and any places where there had been areas of concern on the outside. He was able to detect a small exhaust leak in the furnace, which could be easily fixed, but may have explained why I developed such a headache as soon as we went into the furnace room. The report was in my e-mail when I went in to check a few hours after the inspection. The report had both a summary, and then included detail with pictures of any problem areas. Problems that were noted that might cause a hazard where highlighted in the report. Overall, we were very happy with the inspection.

We were met at the property by Neil, the inspector. He was extremely polite and professional. After he completed his inspection he took us through the interior and exterior of the property to show his findings. He pointed out problems and potential problems as well as favorable aspects of the property. He was very thorough and patiently answered all of our questions. I would not hesitate to recommend Structure Tech to friends or family, and I would gladly use them again for my own future home purchases.

I have used this company twice in the past 10 months. They provided excellent service, good verbal information and, an excellent written report. They were critical in discovering hidden defects in one house I planned on purchasing, including two (2) different undisclosed related water problems and owner apparently unaware of a mold problem due to a rusted out hot water heater exhaust in the attic. While the moisture and mold problem in the attic looked the worse, it was probably no more than a $ 10,000 repair presuming the roof did not need to be replaced. The two(2) water problems would likely cost from $ 50,000 to $ 150,000 depending on alternatives to under the floor heating vents and what type of excavating and drainage is used to divert water from the hill behind the house.

Neal and Milind did a great job! As planned, they got to the house around 2pm although we couldn't meet them until around 3:30pm. They had almost completed the survey when we got there. They then went through every part of the house again with us explaining what they found. They were very thorough and provided a detailed report of items the next day. It is a perfect checklist of items that my fiance and I can use to fix up even minor items they noted.

Structure Tech exceeded all my expectation, both in the on-site inspection and with the report they prepared. I've already recommended them to several friends and will continue to do so.

The price they charged us was reasonable. They were pretty good and they came out when they were supposed to. I really liked the report they put together in terms of detail and was in a nicely rendered pedi wrap with pictures and all that. I did think that the inspection went quickly, in my mind too quickly and I would have liked them to spend a little more time and be a little more thorough with the inspection. Maybe he knew exactly what he was looking for and was just good with respect to that, but he just left me with the impression that they could have spent more time on the inspection. Overall I was moderately satisfied with their service. They were very responsive and professional.

I have used them twice in the last month. They are incredibly thorough. I have worked with two of their techs. The report that they give back to you is very profesisonal. My mortgage guy said it was so good that it almost could have been used as the appraisal, because they are so thorough. They are on my client care list. They are very prompt. By the time you have a purchase agreement done you only have about 3 days to get an inspection done, and they have been able to do it. They really fit the bill. The price is pretty competetive. The reports are very informative. They are less than some of the others that I have had came out. They are very knowledgeable. They are willing to put it in Laemen's terms for the clients. If I call them and they don't answer, they call me back within an hour. The techs were there on time. They looked at everything from the structure to the landscaping. I feel very confident after I go through everything with them.

Duane found several items that needed to be immediately addressed including roof problems. He took the time to explain everything to me. He also made himself available to answer any questions by phone after the inspection was complete. This is the second time I've used Duane for home inspections in the past year and I'm very satisfied.

Barry was referred by a friend and I am so glad that we chose him! He completed a full inspection and presented it in a complete binder. He took many pictures to demonstrate his conclusions. Nothing was to small to comment on, which was what we wanted.

Neil from StructureTech returned my call and was able to meet me at the home to be inspected by 8am the next morning - excellent responsiveness! I was able to follow Neil around the house as he examined all the systems and issues with the house and he took time to explain each thing and his findings as he went. I had a written report the next morning, which I was able to download from their website.

We needed this inspection on very little notice. They scrambled to find someone who would be available to meet our timeframes. Wayne arrived on time. He was very patient as I trailed him around. At each step he explained what he was checking for. He also pointed out maintenance items on the home that both now and in those that will be needed in the future. He was incredibly thorough and took lots of pictures that were included in his report. We have had other home inspections in the past, but this was by far the most thorough. We also requested an air quality test at the same time. Private Eye had the equipment to put in a monitor the day of the home inspection and then remove it 3 days later, giving us an "instant" report. This test seemed unobtrusive. The report was easy to read.

The person who scheduled the appointment was courteous and helpful. The inspector arrived on time and did the inspection, explaining things as he went along. Afterwords he realized he had missed part of the electrical system and scheduled a follow-up inspection at no cost. In addition, he advised me on some repairs I could make before he returned so they would be reflected in the final report. I received the report in a couple of days. Private Eye also provided very helpful advice over the phone on radon remediation.

His attention to detail was amazing and noticed that our water heater installation was probably not correct. Because of this insight, we were able to address it right away instead of being surprised later. He also noticed several outstanding inspection permits. We were selling our house and all this was very helpful to ensure we could get all these things cleared up to ensure a smooth sale. His friendly attitude and prompt service was greatly appreciated.

Excellent experience. An inspection deadline was imposed by sellers and Barry made sure that we'd have no trouble meeting it. The office manager, Kim, is friendly & knowledgeable; a real pleasure to deal with. My husband met Barry at the inspection and was very impressed with the high level of service and attention to detail - Barry left no stone unturned. He discovered two previously undisclosed problems with the home, and thanks to his work, we were able to negotiate the necessary repairs before closing, and saved ourselves over one thousand dollars! The report that Barry provides at the conclusion of the inspection is invaluable and will be a handy resource and useful journal for years to come. We also liked the fact that Barry's company will provide moisture testing without having to use an outsourced company. We did have the home moisture tested; please see our separate report if interested. This was one of the easiest and most successful parts of our home buying experience so far, we would use Barry's services again without hesitation.

It went well. The one disappointment occured when Structure Tech found evidence of possible moisture in the house. They did not have the equipment necessary to conduct a moisture test, so we had to hire another company to complete this portion of the inspection for us.

I was very pleased with Private Eye. They were very prompt and professional. You cannot tell where the holes were drilled in the stucco which was a concern we had before the work was done. Of course we were pleased that no moisture was found.
