Soderlin Plumbing, Heating, & Air Conditioning

After receiving a bid for some of this work from a different plumber, we called Soderlin for another estimate. We ended up getting more work done for less money. The work was done over a few visits, and everything went really smoothly. They were very helpful and friendly, and even explained to us how we could do some of the work ourselves in the future.

Let me begin by saying I know plumbers are expensive. I have hired plumbers to do big and small projects for me at my various properties. I made arrangements with Soderlin Plumbing to come to my building to do some last minute, minor repairs in one of my bathrooms. The tenant was moving in that day and I didn t have enough time to do everything on my own. They were tasked with replacing my shower head and the cold water faucet knob. Since he didn t have a faucet knob in his truck he had to go 3 miles up the road to get the part he needed. Here is the kicker, since he had to leave, he would have to charge me for another service call. In all fairness, he told me this before he left to get the part for the faucet. But really, with a new tenant moving in that day, what choice did I have? He was back in about 15 minutes. The faucet handle was installed without incident. I was charged for two service calls because he left the premises. The invoice came up to the outrageous price of $212.00 for replacing a shower head and a faucet knob. As I left the building on my way to my day job, I reflected on the lesson learned that morning: If you like okay work and crazy prices, Solderlin Plumbing is for you. However, if you like bang for your buck, fairness, value and respect for your money, look somewhere else.

I called them up, came in a day, I gave them my coupon. They saw the problem right away, knew what had to be done, and in a very reasonable amount of time fixed the drain.

The Technician was nice, but did not seem very knowledgeable about pricing. When I asked why installing a toilet would cost $505, he said it was from a pricing guide. I asked the same for the laundry quote of approx $1300. Same answer. I felt this was far too much for what I thought was a much more straight forward job. After paying your $59 trip charge, I had another plumber do the same work quoted, plus some additional work. The total cost was less than $1000. I saved $800 by not using Soderlin. Sorry about the negative report but as a customer I would expect more information about pricing. This is meant for you to improve customer service. I work in the service business myself and believe I understand these issues quite well. Good luck.

Called Soderlin Saturday evening and scheduled a Monday appointment. They came in the time frame they quoted. Called us 1/2 hour before coming to let let us know they were on their way. A very nice gentleman, Ethan, came to our door and listened very throughly to what we needed and then began the job. He wasted no time and was neat and clean. He cleaned up the area perfectly, we would highly recommend this company!

I would recommend them in the future.

The initial repair took Matthew over three hours. Then toilet leaked into the unit below when flushed. When my husband called to complain, they came and repaired the toilet two days later. They did not charge anything for the pulling and resetting the toilet. Matthew did this quite quickly and was in and out in a little over an hour. He used a different type of ring, and the toilet no longer leaks. No damage occurred to either our bathroom or the unit below from the water leakage. What began as a nuisance drip involved another condominium owner. I am quite angry that the initial repair leaked into a lower unit. I am angry that the repair took over three hours. I am angry the cost was extremely high, for a ballcock and snaking totaled over $350! I am angry that I not only had to take one day off from work, but TWO days off from work.

They were very professional, they were on time and very prompt. They were very friendly and knowledgeable. I would use them again and I would recommend them to others.

They were very courteous and attentive to any questions to which they gave thorough explanations. They came prepared and had everything they needed to make the repairs with them.

They only had one type of faucet to choose from and it is not pleasing to the eye,plus the fact that the handle is already loose. The parts and materials are under warranty so I am going to call them.

They are a pleasure to work with. They come fast when you call them.

They charged me $65 to come out to look at the toilet. They gave me an estimate of $1400 to remove and replace the toilet. I felt that was way too high of an estimate and I got a second opinion. ($1,400.00)

They were nice people and they were good to deal with. They did a good job, but it wasn't the best it could have been. They did a fairly good job on everything else. They didn't do one thing right, but I was happy enough with them.

It went well. They were on time and they were friendly. I said I needed a water heater and they said they would take care of it. I checked around and they offered a better deal than elsewhere. I try to use local businesses.

They went above and beyond the call of duty and wiped out a smudge on my car and set a button for me. They did good work. At first they ordered the wrong part, but I don't think it was there fault - it was for a heated mirror and mine is not heated. I don't know the area very well where they are located and I kept getting lost and calling them, the lady was very patient in giving me directions and they gave me perfect directions when I left.

I smelled a gas leak in the basement and called to get some one out to look at it. Within 20-30 minutes a repair man arrived, confirmed the small leak and gave me an estimate on the cost of repairing it and replacing the shut-off valve since it was no longer to code. He then did the work and because it took a little less time than anticipated lowered the bill to reflect that.

The initial repair was done on a Saturday evening by a young on-call repairman who looked a little worn out. He left new parts hanging loose on the furnace and a few (I thought replaced) parts on the floor after he finished. That didn't worry me too much cause we had heat again, but the furnace stopped working the next day. Soderlin sent hem back out on Sunday and he diagnosed an additional part needed replacement and did the work - heat back on. That evening the heat went out again. This time an more experienced repairmen showed up. A heat shield that the younger tech had left off had caused a heat base safety breaker to go off. He also found the new control unit was malfunctioning and replaced it and secured that one properly to the furnace. The safety breaker and second control unit were both replaced at no charge. I can't say I was thrilled with the quality of initial work, but everyone I dealt with was always very professional and responsive - even the younger repairman. They didn't question whether there was a problem and there were no additional charges for the return visits. The older repairman was top notch and didn't spare any words about the questionable quality of the other repairman's work. I found Souderlin easy to work with and would have them work on my furnace again - but I would ask for one of their more experienced repairmen.

I left partway through the job. The workman were pleasant and I felt comfortable leaving them alone. When I returned, there was dirt all over my dining room carpet, kitchen floor and a coating of dust over every surface in 3 adjoining rooms. I was told that they would leave the place as they found it and it took 1.5 hours to make the area livable after I returned home. They did not secure a permit for the work until one week after the units were installed. I had to call the gas company on an emergency basis for a gas leak in the newly installed furnace one week later and has to vacate the condo for a period of time while Center Point Energy tried to fix the leak. They reduced the leak but they tagged the unit and required Soderlin to come back to repair the bad installation. The office manager asked for a credit card number so they could charge me for a service call to make the repair the next day. They never scheduled a City inspection - I called the City for an inspection 22 days later when they came to inspect my fireplace. They came back out to connect the pressure tested system (contracted and paid for in advance), made my other contractors help them run pipe directly to the furnace - a total of 15 minutes and they insisted on charging an additional $350 before they left (I am in the wrong business). There was some questionably legal activities surrounding this event that will go unstated. My other contractors gave him my check contingent upon the understanding that before he left, he would put identifying numbers on the AC unit (there were 23 others on the condo roof) that was a condition of the City Inspector to pass inspection. Two + weeks later, I receive a call from Soderlin asking me to take time away from work again today to let one of their employees onto my roof to put the identifying numbers the rooftop AC unit. I will presumably also be asked to be at home again for the City Inspector to check that Soderlin complied with his inspection order. The City Inspector gave me the name of this Angie's List website as a way for me to communicate my general level of dissatisfaction with a company who has given me excellent service for 20 + years that has obviously changed their standards. Two other incidents have happened in the past 3 months (an additional $3,000 in work) that further reinforces the poor quality service that I have come to expect from Soderlin. I will never use this company again in the future. My previous level of satisfaction was so high that I gave them my furnace/AC business, even though Center Point Energy gave a bid that was $300 less with 3 more years of warranty.

Did a very good job. On time and didn't leave anything messy.

When I replaced my dryer, I realized I'd be paying for either a new electrical service or an upgrade of the gas line to code. The old dryer had an undersized, flexible extension from the water heater gas supply. I opted for electric, which meant capping off the old gas pipe (get it out of the way!). Note: old gas pipe. As in slightly corroded, galvanized piping. The job didn't take very long, just a little tricky since all the piping is close together. And now I feel much safer. Less fumes in the basement.

We were pretty happy with the work.

They came and did a minor fix, they were really good.

I called today and the young lady that answered the phone was very helpful. They came out and took care of it today. They did a good job the plumber was very nice also. I was surprised that they came out the day I called for service.

We called Soderlin Plumbing after a relative tried to install a new shower unit in our downstairs bathroom. The relative did it incorrectly and created a leak. We had to turn off the water to the house. We called Soderlin Plumbing after researching on Angie's List and checking with a couple of other plumbers. Soderlin was able to get out to our house that day and installed shut-offs to the shower so that we could turn on the water to the rest of the house. We just need to get a new shower unit and have that installed. We might have paid too much, but the work was professionally done and I'd rather pay a little extra for quality work.

Everything was great. Mike arrived on time and explained everything he was doing, and now all is working as it should be.
