They also gave us a referral to get the bathtub refinished. We did need to have them come back once, which is not unusual, for some touch up. No problems at all in getting this done. A very nice craftsman did the work.

Zenon called within a week of my Big Deal purchase from Angie's List. He let me know in March that the response to the Big Deal was overwhelming, and he had gotten far more requests than he had expected. I told him that I understood, and that there was really no rush for the job to be done. Yet, he had another person come in and do the job far sooner than I expected, in April. The job was finished quickly and efficiently and certainly much more beautifully than I ever could have done it. There was no mess left, either. I would definitely recommend Minnesota Regrout & Tile to anyone!
Description of Work: We had grout removed from and caulking applied to areas in our main floor bathroom in the corners and on the floor where ceramic tile had previously been installed. Caulking was also redone between the tub and the cabinets along the face of the tub. We had caulking applied around the bases of three of our toilets and a shower door. We also had caulking applied in an upstairs shower.

In the 4 months since then, I've had none of the same issues (I would've had by this time with the former job). The craftsman (and his spousal helper) did a fantastic job. They were also incredibly tidy and considerate. I'd recommend them without reservation.
Description of Work: I had an Angie's List coupon for 2 hours of work, then I received an estimate for $600 to complete the job. It was worth it. I had some bathroom/tub/shower tile that needed regrouting. The gentleman who gave me the estimate told me the original job had been done with porous material. Made sense given issues I was having. Plus the job was about 18 years ago. This was encouraging moisture behind some of the tiles. Job ended up being acid washing material around window glass blocks, removing moist tile, thoroughly drying behind those tiles, replacing with new tiles (I had some extras), repairing/sealing the grout and window material.

The company did a very good job of communicating and scheduling during a very busy time for them. The communication was very professional. However, I thought the quality of the work was poor. The grout put in between the tile and the door threshold in my porch is already mostly crumbled, despite assurances that this caulk could "breathe" with the wooden threshold that forms one of the boundaries--and it's only been four or five months since the work has been done. The caulking in the upstairs bathroom also doesn't look wonderful. To my knowledge, it's still doing it's job, but it doesn't look great, and I wouldn't be surprised if it breaks down within the next year or two. Again, this company was good to excellent in other areas. The price was very good compared to other companies. However, the quality was poor. Poor enough that I feel compelled to review it here.

I'd previously tried to replace the caulk around our tub myself, but the caulk soon started pulling away. I found out there were different kinds of caulk (silicone, petroleum-based,e tc.) and even though I thought I'd thoroughly cleaned the surface after removing the old caulk, apparently I hadn't. There was the bottom rail of a sliding tub door to caulk along the top of the side of the tub and also an area at the foot of the tub with a larger than usual gap to caulk between the tub and a plastic surround we'd had added tot he wall. I couldn't bear to undertake the whole project again. Although I disliked paying $75 to get a bathtub caulked, they were quick to schedule (in spite of the risk for sheduling delays after a Big Deal offering) and did great work.

I initially met Zenon through an Angie's List Big Deal for two hours of regrouting. I had used a caulking-type tape around the perimeter where my tub meets the shower wall and wanted to remove it because it was beginning to get some mold, but I was worried about pulling off the tiles since I could not remove it easily. I had also noticed that a had a very small piece of missing grout as well as numerous tiny cracks in the grout in the tub/shower walls. Since the Big Deal was such a good value, I thought I would use this as an opportunity to try out Minnesota Regrout & Tile and, if I liked the work and the people, then I would hire them to do the tile work in all three of my bathrooms and in my main entry. I had previously had two bathroom remodelers provide detailed bids; both of these other contractors' bids were similar to each other in price and I was reluctant to commit to the major expenditure without knowing the quality of their work. I asked Zenon to come out on short notice--and he did. I asked him if he could complete the work within a week-and-a-half because I had guests coming to visit--and he said he would. He carefully looked over my bathroom tile, thoroughly inspected the grout and caulk tape, thumped the wall throughout to check for damage behind the tile and declared that everything was sound and he could have the work done by my deadline and that the amount of damaged grout was minimal and the work could be completed with the coupon. I immediately liked and trusted Zenon and was confident in his professional opinions so I decided to ask him for a quote on the first half of my project--my guest bath and powder room. He gave me a verbal quote immediately and followed up the next day or so with a written quote that was identical to the verbal quote. He credited the full value of the coupon (twice what I actually paid) to the total cost. Since I already had detailed quotes from two remodelers, I knew that Zenon's quote was a good value. We agreed that I would not be at any risk of water damage to have my guests use the bath and that my tile project would begin as soon as they left in 10 days. My project started on time. Communication was excellent throughout. My expectations were met or exceeded in all areas (and I do tend to be a perfectionist!). I have already recommended Minnesota Regrout & Tile to family and friends. I will definitely use Minnesota Regrout & Tile for the tile work on my master bath and main entry.
Description of Work: Minnesota Regrout & Tile did a fantastic job of removing all the old tile in my guest bath and installing new tile. Zenon had great suggestions, including extending the tile in the shower area all the way to the ceiling and bringing out the edge of the wall tile an inch or two beyond the edge of the tub--these changes make my guest bath look huge! (A painter I had in at the end of the project marvelled at how much larger my bathroom looked than his, given they were both a standard size.) My tile selections included ceramic (walls), porcelain (floors), glass (recessed shelves/niches in the tub/shower area) and carrara marble (trim). Zenon's experience and gentle guidance reassured me that all of these materials would come together in a cohesive and sophisticated look--and they did. Walls in the tub area were removed to the studs, with waterproof Denshield backer board installed. Old floor tile was removed to the subflooring prior to installing the new base and tile. Per my request, the floor tile was installed on the diagonal and a marble threshold was used in the doorway. The tile is beautifully placed and aligned throughout. I also wanted to update the look of my 25-yr-old tub faucet and trim--my "new" bath includes a new faucet and shower valve, showerhead, and bath spout. I also requested the installation of two grab bars (which are well placed for safety, but unobtrusive for fashion) and several towel bars, robe hook, tissue holder. My toilet was removed and reinstalled, as well. I was especially delighted that Tec XT "never seal grout" was used on all of the new tile and will make future maintenance a breeze. The second part of my project was to replace the linoleum floor in my powder room with porcelain tile. I originally thought I would like marble tile, but Zenon recommended that I go with a marble "look", given the tendency of marble to stain and the likelihhod that any stains would show because there is so much natural light in the toilet area. (He was happy to tile with either marble or porcelain, but I was glad I made the decision to use porcelain when I recently got a difficult-to-remove ring from just a water glass on a marble floor area in my nearby living room.) The powder room has odd angles and the resulting tile installation looks great. For this bathroom, I had requested installation of a new toilet and that was no problem for the crew. Overall, both the guest bath and the powder room look great! Walter did the tile work and Rick handled plumbing and carpentry--both did demolition and they were both very good at their jobs and nice to deal with. Zenon was attentive throughout the process and was very open to questions. There were a few surprises related to the original construction of my home and the team took it all in stride. I expected this to be a difficult time period, but, instead, it was a pleasure to have Zenon, Walter and Rick in my home.

The job went well, they did good. I had to call them back once, but that went fine. The guy they sent, wasn't the guy that was originally suppose to come. The person that came, spoke very little English, so communication was difficult. Although, he did good work, and it looks very nice. I don't have a basis for comparing the price. I would use them again if I needed to.

Zenon was prompt to schedule time to come and view the project, a master shower re-grout/re-tile. I requested he e-mail me the quote. When a week passed without receipt of the quote I contacted him again. He asked to come back and review the project. I again requested he e-mail me the quote. I never received the quote. Our project went on hold for a year. I once again went through the process of collecting quotes. I experienced the exact same process with Zenon. Two visits. No quote. He is very knowledgeable in regards to ceramic tile repairs. I do not think e-mailing is a strength. We went with another company.

Zenon arrived for an estimate, but didn't bother to take any measurements of the floor. He simply stated that he would work on the estimate and let me know after the weekend. No follow up and no estimate. I'm surprised since all the reviews on Angie's List seemed to be very good. If he didn't want to do the work or felt the job was too small, he could have just said so.

I bought the $75 deal for 2 hours of work on Angies list.Zenon the company owner was great to work with. I called on a Tuesday and he had scheduled someone to come the next day. Great responsiveness! Thanks Zenon. We were looking to do only 4 hours of installing tile on the wall of our shower. My brother in-law did the largest wall over the weekend in 4 hours. (My brother-in-law does this on the side occasionally). I figured we would be able to get the smaller 2 walls done by a professional in the same time my brother- in - law did the one bigger one. Not the case. It ended up being only 3 hours of work and only 4 rows of tile were completed (not even half of the wall). Each row has 2.5 tiles (8X12 tiles). So we are not talking about a big wall at all. On the flip side the gentleman doing the work was polite and professional. For example, he was observant that we did not wear our shoes on the carpet and took his off too. Other than being slow and a half hour late he seemed to do good work.

Zenon initially setup the estimate, the worker that first came was Ukrainian and barely spoke any English, but he worked hard and seemed to do his best removing rust stains from our grout. He did a very neat job caulking and spent a few hours working on both our bathrooms. Zenon then came in the next day to spray sealant. Zenon and his worker that came over were a pleasure to deal with and their prices seem reasonable.
Description of Work: I took advantage of their $75 for up to 2 hours of kitchen & bathroom caulking and Grout Restoration Angie's list deal. They removed rust & calcium buildup from our tiles & bathtubs with acid wash, then caulked and sprayed sealant over our whole showers.

There was a bit of a delay in hearing back from the company after our initial call; however, they were very apologetic and explained that they had received a much larger response to the deal than they had been told to expect. Following the call, the appointment to come out to our home was made in a timely manner. Our bathroom caulk and grout was in worse shape than we thought. We were given options that included what could be done in the 4 hours we purchased, company recommended service, etc. Options and prices were clearly spelled out. We opted to have complete job described above done as well as replacing the glass slide doors to the tub replaced (old one had lots of crevices where mold and dirt kept collecting). Work was scheduled promptly and at a time we identified as convenient. Workers were prompt, professional and did not leave a mess behind. Quality of work was excellent. Our housecleaner even commented on the quality of the grout work done.
Description of Work: We purchased the two of the deal "$75 for up to 2 Hours of Kitchen & Bathroom Caulking and Grout Restoration" to have the caulking and ceramic tile in our bath/shower restored. We ended up having more done - all bath/shower grouting was removed as was old caulking. All mold/mildew was treated, tiles was re-grouted with high quality, grout with sealant and caulking replaced with marine grade caulk. New glass shower slide doors were installed.

I had some issues with the tiling in my bathroom floor. The owner of the company looked at the shower and said "You just need a little grout along the bottom." When he showed up, he literally had no tools. He was going to leave before doing any work, and I had to ask directly for him to caulk the tub. He went back out to his pickup truck to get the caulk, and said that we had a freeze last night and that the materials froze in his truck. He asked if I minded if he used a different color because he had found some that hadn't frozen. It took all of five minutes for this to be done. He spent 15 min going through the bathroom. He called back and told me about other things that needed to be done, and gave me an estimate to redo the whole bathroom and shower for $1500! My tub isn't leaking, but I paid for 2 hours of work, not for an estimate and five minutes of actual work.

Found the company thru a big deal offer. The owner was very nice on the phone and apologized for the 2 day delay in returning my call due to the unexpectedly high number of big deal purchases. He was very professional when he came to give an estimate and I felt comfortable that he really knew what he was talking about. I was a little surprised with the estimate since I had thought the work involved would have taken only a few hours to complete. It turned out to be more like 8 hours of work. I did not get a second estimate since I had already purchased the big deal and did feel that I was dealing with a reputable business. The worker who came to do the job was excellent. The bathroom looks great and he did a thorough clean up afterwards. Since the job was just completed we have not been able to use the shower yet to see if the work holds up. However we were told to call if there are any problems and there is a warrenty on the work that was done.

The company owner came out very promptly to assess the job and provided an estimate within 2 days. It was a little higher than I'd hoped, but since I had bought one of the "big deal" certificates already, I went with them. THe work was really, really excellent. Very carefully executed, great attention to detail, and the installer cleaned up after the work beautifully as well. My parents were present during the installation, and said the installer was friendly, hard working, and the results are really beautiful. Worth the money.

I have mixed reviews about this company. They did some things poorly and some things well. What needs improvement: The crew doing the work needs to communicate with the client before doing the work if an issue arises. Here are examples: 1. Installing the bathroom shower door when it was to have been done after I had painted the bathroom ceiling. I had sent a detailed email to them about the order of work. Specifically that I would paint the bathroom ceiling the weekend before they were to install the shower door. But, even though the room was draped in plastic--including the tub/shower area to protect it from the future paint job, they took down some of the plastic draping and installed the shower door on the first day of the job. After I complained, the owner offered to paint the ceiling at no cost to me. His crew did that. But, in the process of removing the plastic draping after they finished, they tore off paint chips on the wall, so now the walls in the room have to be painted. Since I was thinking about painting the walls, I didn't ask them to do that job. Had the crew followed my instructions, they would not have had to paint the ceiling and I may have avoided having to paint the bathroom walls. 2. Installing ceramic towel holder brackets of a different color than what was there and not contacting me about it. In order to install the shower door, the towel bars had to be shortened. This required removing the towel bar holders. The crew broke one in the process and the owner said they would replace it with an identical model. Well it wasn't identical. The color is off-white while the other holders are white and the bar it's holding up is white. They claimed that ceramic holders cannot be matched in color. This was not a variation in color. It was a different color. It's more likely that this is what the crew could find at short notice and just put it in thinking that I would accept it. Had they called me about this to consider replacing the bars with something that was matched in color, I would have gladly paid for a different towel bar system that matched. Now it is too late. 3. The electric warming cable system for the patio room tile floor was not laid according to the manufacturer's instructions. I complained and the man that installed it and owner came out on a Sunday morning to look at the situation. The installer claimed that the manufacturer was selling cable systems that were too large, and that he had to install the cable differently in order for it to fit in the room. He also did not place the cable straps according to the manufacturer's instructions which forced him to severely bend the cable and create small cracks in the insulation. I contacted the manufacturer about this and they said that the alternative spacing of the cable would create warmer and cooler spots on the floor, but it would not be damaged by what the installer had done. The manufacturer also helped me personally test the cable system with an electronic mult-meter to make sure that the installer had not damaged it. Since this is a patio room and not a bathroom, and the cable system was found to be undamaged, it was not worth risking potential damage to it by relaying a portion of it to eliminate the warmer/cooler spots on the floor. What they did well: The quality of the tile installation was very good. The installer was careful in matching tiles to create a pleasing pattern. He took his time in doing that part of the job. And the owner was honest about passing along the cost savings on obtaining the tile to me. I had priced it and knew what the discount should be. He showed me the invoice he paid for the tile which was less than what I had calculated. To conclude, MN Regroute and Tile is very good at installing tile. But, the crew is not good at communicating with clients about issues that come up on a job as described above. Even though I called and emailed the owner regularly, his crew went ahead and resolved issues without consulting me based on getting the job done within the cost that they had agreed to. Well they should first contact the client to see if a better resolution can be reached, which may require an increase in cost but is worth that additional cost to keep the client satisfied. I had bids from 3 tile installers--all highly recommended on Angie's List. This was the middle bid in the range and I accepted it because the owner was much more experienced than the other two. He also proposed a better way to install the electric cable warming system for the tile than the other contractors. But he didn't do the work. That is the difference here. I should have asked about that when I interviewed him.
Description of Work: Minnesota Regrout and Tile installed a glass shower door which included removing and adjusting the width of 2 towel bars. They also installed an electric tile warming system and porcelain tile in a 12 foot by 14 foot four season patio room.

Zenon meet me and provided an estimate for the job and we scheduled the installation date after I picked out the backsplash and flooring tile. Monday Day 1: The crew showed a little late but called to let me know. They moved the heavy pieces of furniture and appliances; removed running boards, pantry and closet doors, and removed the existing flooring. They work area was left clean and tools/equipment were stored in the garage. Tuesday Day 2: Poured the new base floor concrete base after replacing bad floor boards. Setup fans and heaters to help cure the floor. They designed a small ramp for us so we could access the upper and lower levels and placed signing on doors to warn us not to walk on floor. Wednesday Day 3: Flogging and overcast outside, floor didn't dry overnight. Contractor called to inform me that could not work on Wednesday until the floor dried. Contractor stopped by in evening to check on the floor and setup more fans, and removed some excess water. Discussed options to lay floor tile - straight, offset or on point. Clarified the areas to be tiled on backsplash and how to handle the terminations points. Thursday Day 4: Tiled the kitchen, diningroom and portion of the entry so we had access to upper and lower levels. Friday Day 5: Completed tiling the entry and backsplash. Contractor needed to adjust the lighting under the cabinets to accommodate the backsplash. They worked late to finish up tiling. Asked if they could work Saturday to grout tiles. Discussed and selected the grout color option and eletrical faceplates to finish up job. Saturday Day 6: Grouted tile on floor and backsplash. Cleaned up floors and worksite. Worked late to complete work. Monday, Day 7: Reinstalled running boards and doors, moved furnature and appliances back into the kitchen, installed electrical face plates and removed and cleaned up work area and garage. Zenon called to follow-up on the crew and work completed. I would highly recomend MN Grout and Tile for any tiling job. The crew was professional, easy to work with, accommodating, respectful and went the extra mile to make sure the job was done right and way I wanted it. They were very responsive to my questions and concerns and worked to address any issues that come up. The project came in right on budget and one day late due to circumstances beyond their control (weather conditions).
Description of Work: I was updating the kitchen floor and adding a backsplash. MN Grout & Tile removed the existing kitchen and diningroom flooring (floating tile) and entry floors (ceramic tile). Once the floor was removed the needed to replace bad floor boards, pour and level the new floor. They also needed to remove the trim running boards, doors to pantry and hall closet; moved refrigerator, stove, and diningroom table. The crew installed the new 12x12 travertine floor tile, and 1 x1" matching travertine backsplash.

We had purchased an Angie's List deal to have 4 hours of grout and tile work for $174.00. This was an excellent deal as we had a small foyer that needed tiles replaced and regrouted. The area was approximately 50 square feet with a portion of that ( maybe 12 square feet ) that actually needed the work/repair. We also provided the replacement tiles. The work needing to be performed was to pull up and remove the cracked/loose tiles then lay new tiles and regrout this very small area. Xenon provided a quote that the work would be approx 6 hours and an additional amount of $320.00 (for a total of $474.00). This seemed somewhat high and we were on a very tight budget. We called Xenon back to renegotiate and he agreed that he would work with us and depending on the time it took it would not exceed our budget of $325.00. We agreed then to schedule the work. On the morning of the work, Xenon and the person performing the work showed up on time and got started right away. They were able to bring in grout that match the existing grout and did a beautiful job cutting and laying the replacement tile. The quality appeared very good and overall we were very pleased. The total job took 3 hours and was under the 4 hour "deal" we had purchased, however, the person performing the work still requested our check for the additional $150.00. The experience over the price left a negative mark on the overall good work. The work was under 4 hours and we should not have been required to pay the additional amount.
