Minneapolis Lock & Key

Terrific experience. Hired to re-key all the locks in my house and garage and ended up fixing most of them in one way or another for no additional charge. He also repaired a really old door lock that has been with the house since 1920s and never worked since we bought the house 9 years ago. Works great now. Very friendly service and on time. Same day call. Highly recommend.

The doorknob on my front door (circa 1925) was slipping out of the door. I thought I could try and remove the locking mechanism and bring it to Minneapolis Lock and Key for repair. Instead I ended up jamming the deadbolt and was unable to close my front door (this was around 3 or 330pm). Vern was awesome. He agreed to stop by after hours (around 530pm) and fix my problem. He not only unjammed the deadbolt, but fixed the doorknob. He also recommended replacing the ancient cylinders on the front and back doors and now I only need one key to get into my house. Fabulous experience. HIGHLY recommend! Thank you!!!

A friend had recommended this locksmith to me, and I saw that the reviews on Angie's List looked good as well, so gave them a call. Ben was knowledgeable and helpful on the phone, gave me a rather precise estimate over the phone and told me what possible types of issues, if encountered, could raise the price and by how much. He was able to get to my home in less than 72 hours, and was on time. One of my locks was unusual and gave him a few minutes of trouble but he fixed it, and explained the problem to me clearly, and proposed that I NOT spend extra money, and suggested several options regarding how to address any future problems with a potentially sticky key. He was polite, friendly, informative, efficient and very professional. I'll use them again, and recommend them highly.

The man who answered the phone was very polite. He said that since I had 3 doors that each had a deadbolt and lock inside the door handle, it was a total of 6 cylinders/locks. The service call is $65, each cylinder is $15, and each key is $3. Although the prices seem competative, I decided to go with a provider that offered a substantial discount to AL members. However, I'd consider using Mpls Lock and Key for future work.

Brian was pretty amazing. He did some quick analysis of the locks on the scooter and then pulled the lock on the seat to hand file a key that works perfectly (even had the right blank on hand). He was very personable and had some interesting stories to tell about watchmaking and the art of locksmithing. He was in and out in around an hour and even made me a duplicate for backup. Great service and professionalism! There guys are my locksmith of choice for the future.

They were prompt and they gave a specific time that they would arrive rather than a time range. The locksmith who came was very knowledgeable and helpful.

I like the guys. They can fix just about anything, old, antique, door locks, locks, they have a nice set up. I have used them for years. They have unusual keys duplicated, kind of old stuff that needs to be fixed or repaired, they usually can do it.

I haven't used him in a while but he's great and wonderful. I'm a realtor so he's the one I use when I need one. He knows how to repair what you already have rather than replacing it with something new and cheap. The price really depends on what you want done.

I called late on a Friday afternoon and was advised that all their locksmiths were booked through the end of the business day. However, they had someone come out after hours and do the work. The work was done with professional efficiency, the price I thought reasonable and the process painless. I love Minneapolis Lock and Key and have used their services many times over the years.

It was great! I walked in asking for help to get an old mailbox I purchased in working condition. It was missing a key and I couldn't test the lock. They fitted a skeleton key and we realized the lock was catching on something. They played with it a bit and got it into working order. Less than 10 minutes...the $8 I paid included their labor and the price of a new key. I appreciated their time & attention to what was obviously not a big ticket sale. I will definitely use them again & as another reviwer wrote - I won't even look elsewhere.

I was able to get an appointment within a day or two of calling. They gave me an estimate over the phone and stuck to it. I had bought a new deadbolt that was different than the installed deadbolt, but Dana was able to make it work with a part from his truck. I have used them in the past and would definitely use them again in the future.

Service was quite fast at this very large lock shop. The price was less than several other places I called. I will just go to this company with any future needs.

I called to setup an appointment for an estimate and a few minutes later one of their locksmiths called to come over immediately. This was great timing, because a burglar had broken our deadbolt and our house was unsecured. He arrived and listened to my whining without complaint, then gave me an estimate and scheduled the appointment for later in the day. He called a bit early and asked if he could cover over right away as he finished a job earlier than he expected. He installed the new deadbolts without any problems and the price seemed cheaper than I expected. The locksmith was a great guy -- funny and knowledgeable. I plan to have them back to fix another lock problem in our house. Overall it was as good as it gets. I hope all their locksmiths are as good as Dana.

These guys are awesome! You can count on them to be on time, professional, and offer a fair price for their services. Dana is our contact with them and he is outstanding. They've always been flexible to work with and easy to work with. Whether it's needing a key cut, a new doorknob installed, rekeying a lock. You name it, they've done a great job. I would highly recommend this company to anyone in need of a locksmith.

They have been great. They are very friendly and they also know their stuff. We would use them again.

I didn't have them come to the house. I have used them personally. There were 2 locks and it cost $11.00 per lock. They are close and they get it done while I wait. I would recommend them because they are quick and they can do it while you wait.

My key has a security chip in it so it is more expensive than a regular key. Their price was better then the car dealer's. They were fast, friendly and knowledable. When the key was done they had me check it with my car right away.

It went great. The key was stuck in the old ignition cylinder and could not be pulled out. They installed a customer-supplied ignition cylinder. Great service.

They were very accommodating about making an appointment. And then...*I* went and forgot all about it! The serviceman called me to ask me where I was, and when I apologized and told him I could be there in 15 minutes or so, he agreed to wait. I very much appreciated that!! The work itself was done quickly and well. Without really thinking it through I'd thought he'd be replacing the deadbolt that was already there, but it quickly became apparent that that would be a more expensive proposition than simply installing an additional one. However, to minimize the number of keys, he changed the tumbler in the one in place so that both could be operated by the same key. Very much appreciated!

I brought two door locks to their retail location 4448 Nicollet Ave. S. Fixed first lock that was not working properly. I wanted the second lock rekeyed to match the first. They explained that was not possible since they were two different brands/types. They selected a replacement, confirmed that I knew how to install it and keyed it to match the first. All in less than 10 minutes.

Called company to rekey 2 locks in a house we just moved into. He made 12 keys for us as well. The guy came out fast, was friendly and did a good job as we have had no issues with the work. I'd call them again.

Minneapolis Lock & Key provided courteous, prompt, knowledgeable service. I waited several days for a non-urgent service call, but the locksmith showed up as scheduled and solved the problem quickly. The price for the work seemed fair, and was well within the guidelines described to me in my initial call.
