I had a quick move and wasn't sure how much I would be able to get done by my desired moving day. I was able to get more packing done than I originally thought. On moving day the crew called to let me know they were on their way and when they would arrive. They all introduced themselves and went through the information. The guys covered all the potential issues with me. They worked quickly and efficiently. They encountered some obstacles along the way (i.e. furniture that wouldn't come apart easily and a really large and heavy piece that was on an upper floor.) They handled everything well. And each time there was a problem they came up with a solution. Some pieces got a little dinged, but I expected that since when it was purchased the delivery people injured themselves. They did a great job!

Highest marks. The team arrived on time the day of the move. The workers each introduced themselves and went through their checklist. Before starting, they took a detailed tour of the home. Then the work began. The lead person name was 'T'. Top notch leadership. They worked steady. At the new house, they unloaded everything straight away. They had no problem when we changed our minds where some items should go. Very easy to work with. No damage to items. No damage to walls, lawn, etc. Very careful. Also, very safe. Get a load how they carry boxes on their backs. It looks funny, but I can see how it keeps their back straight. You buy the boxes, but they give you credit back when you return them within 30 days. There was one small problem with the billing. When returning the boxes they double credited by account. This was cleared up very simply over the phone. My wife and I ended up giving the team a rather large tip. It was totally worth it and they earned every penny. I would highly recommend Local Motion.

I completed the online information request form on Wednesday, 08/10/11 and instantly received an auto-response from the local sales rep with some specific questions, which I responded to instantly. I had provided my phone number and email address. I didn't hear anything back from him, so I left a voicemail message for him on Saturday, 08/13/11. I got a voicemail from him on Monday morning, 08/15/11 and instantly returned his call (around 09:30am)- but it went straight to voicemail, so I left another message. On Tuesday, 08/16/11, still not having received a return call and being routed straight to voicemail every time I tried calling the rep directly, I called the main number and expressed my interest in obtaining information about scheduling a move. The woman who answered couldn't have been less interested in helping me out and balked when I indicated we were moving out of a condo - like that was a whole different ball game. She finally indicated she would pass my information on to a sales rep who would contact me with more information. I explained that I had tried earnestly to communicate with a sales rep to no avail, and her only response was to offer me his direct number... which I already had. I expressed that at this point we weren't sure we wanted to use Local Motion due to the difficulty in ascertaining information about rates and availability. She once again offered the sales rep's direct number. I finally got a return phone call from the sales rep on Thursday, 08/18/11. I explained that we had opted to use another, more responsive company. He got defensive, saying we had just been involved in a game of, "Phone tag." One return phone call over an eight-day period does not a game of phone tag make. We opted not to use them, so I can't comment on their actual services.

I went with Local Motion becuase of their follow-through compared to other companies with whom I spoke. Their bid was similar to others, so I don't feel as though I got a great deal, but instead competitive. The movers called and announced they would be arriving about 30 minutes late, no big deal as we were busy tearing down beds and other things. We were very organized and had 90% of the boxes already in the garage. I had thought that the move would go quicker than it did,but it took about as long as the original estimate provided by the salesman - good for him, bad for me, but that's ok. The team seemed to work very well together, and there was one trainee. While care was taken for the most part, there were times with walls or corners were dinged. Seriously, I don't know how anyone that can ever protect every single thing. All-in-all, the move OUT of the old house went just fine. The only real problem that ocurred while loading at the old house was that someone hit an outside light hanging on the wall near the garage door. I didn't make a big deal about it, but I had to fix it as it clearly had been hit, and was hanging dangerously away from the wall. The crew stopped for lunch on the way to the new house - fine, and wasn't charged for that. Moving into the new house, as most home owners probably do, I desired runners throughout to protect the new carpet we had already installed. There was a level of frustration that occurred with one of the individuals, who ended up copping a bit of an attitude with me and my wife...but only for a short time. Obviously, the heat was high and everyone, including me, wanted the unloading to go as quickly as possible. By the end of the move, everyone was in good spirits. Again, I'd say I am satisfied with the way the furniture was moved into the new home...in fact, probably with fewer dings than the older home THANK YOU TEAM! Probably the worst thing was that we had about 100 boxes organized and stacked within the new garage. More care could've been taken to make sure that heavy boxes were set on the floor, while lighter boxes on top - I am now having to re-arrange the boxes because some of the bottom boxes are 'bending/crushing.' I'm a tough critic (on myself, too), so don't feel bad about the 'B' grades...but there was room for improvement to earn an 'Excellent' in those categories. That said, nothing was damaged that I didn't feel might get damaged. (at least that I know at this point as we are still emptying boxes - what a pain!).

BIG HINT! USE THEIR BOXES; NOT THE ONES FROM THE OFFICE SUPPLY STORE. I began packing over a month before the move and created double the boxes. The boxes are recyclable, returnable for full credit, if you don't wreck them, and the double strong! I wouldn't use anyone else! But I hope I don't have to move again. Use their boxes to save yourself time and their timeand effort! Unbelievable ....REALLY.

Local Motion made my move very easy! Everything from scheduling the move, estimating the cost, getting boxes, the actual move and returning the boxes went seamlessly! I will definitely use them on my next move and recommend them to my friends. The moving team was fast, friendly, and efficient!

they arrived promptly. introduced themselves. did a tour of the house to know what was being moved and what wasn't. then just started moving furniture. The crew worked as a team. everyone knew what had to be done and did it. The crew was very friendly and very professional. Always asked if there was anything else they could do for us. I will not hesitate to use Local Motion a again or recommend them to others.

Moved from Des Moines, Iowa to Apple Valley. It took 6 of our friends back in DSM to load up our truck in 4.5 hour time period. Took 2 guys from Local Motion 45 minutes to unload and put furniture in the right spots. They had serious muscle. Going to use them again to our next move to Hastings.

They were great! On time, professional, careful with our belongings, and nothing they moved was damaged. We did not comparison shop for pricing because so many friends had used them and recommended them highly. We will use them next time we move!

People from Local Motion Company came and woke us up in the morning and helped us with the heavy furniture. They also helped us putting it up in our new house for us. Their customer service impressed me the most. I was able to talk them into giving me an estimate over the phone. It was easy to set up an appointment. The actual moving service itself was good. The people who came out for the move were efficient. I would use them in the future if required.

They were excellent. We had friends who had used them and they did good work. That’s why we used their services. They basically move things within the city. They do just small distances. I don’t remember how much I spent but I know they were pretty reasonable. They were careful and they were very efficient. They were fast and very polite. They were respectful towards us, and towards our furniture and things. I would definitely use their services again in the future.

They charged me double than what they estimated. When the moving day came they sent three young boys to help with move. At one point in the day one of the workers forgot to set the parking break on the truck and the truck went crashing into cars down the street. It was a mess and after everything they only gave me $300.00 off the move. It was a very miserable experience from the start to end. The company was awful in the way they dealt with this.

They were prompt, and got the job done.

They are always super professional and very careful with my belongings. I will definitely continue working with them in the future.

They were great! They were incredibly fast and super professional. It took one truck and four guys about forty-five minutes to complete the move. I would definitely use them again.

They did a nice job. They were fast. Moving is not a fun experience so it was good to have someone do it for us and just direct them where to go.

They were great! They provided free boxes, which I thought was awesome! After we unpacked, they came back to pick up the boxes. The employees were fast and efficient on the day of the move. Nothing was broken, everything went smoothly, and the final cost was on estimate.

This was a terrible experience with Local Motion. They exced their estimate by $300 and broke two picture frames which they refused to fix. The movers obviously were milking their time at it took 3.5 hours to move a 1bd apartment one block down the street. I tried to speak with their office regarding my experience multiple times never to recieve a call back. I would NEVER recommend anyone using this company.

I spent $ 150 on that service. They did good service and they did it fast and it was easy. I think that their pricing was comparable and there were two guys that came out.

The guys were great -- we couldn't believe how fast and efficient everyone was. And happy! They were smiling and friendly and singing and running and hard-working the whole time. Moving day can be stressful---but it's hard to be in a bad mood while your movers are singing and running! Thank you!

They called an hour before estimated arrival time and asked if we were ready, I said come anytime, and they arrived a half hour before our start time. Got working right away on assessing the load and loading the truck. Loaded up our whole house of furniture/heavy stuff and were very professional and quick. Got everything in the place I asked them to and even moved things twice when I changed my mind. Very nice. Also helped us finish unloading our truck when they were done as it was getting late and we were tired. I would happily use them again.

The guys showed up on time and were friendly. I don't think they knew much about moving pianos. It took them quite a while to figure out what tools they needed to move it, and it did fall over while they were moving it down the sidewalk. Luckily, there was 2 feet of snow and the piano was unharmed. Ultimately the piano got to its destination fine. I should note that we hired this company to move all our belongings, including this piano, into our house 3 years ago. They did very well at that time. So it is probably just that we got an inexperienced crew on this day.

Everything went well. Could not have been more professional. Workers took great care to assure that there would be no damage to the item being moved or any collateral damage to walls, floors, etc..

They were on time, they were very careful, and they were very courteous. They were very fair in their pricing and they were very professional. They were awesome. They were really good. I called them in the morning and they made arrangements and came out that afternoon.

Until now we have only done corporate moves with large moving companies. I want to say up front that our issue is generally not with the individual employees, but with the managers/VP, and the management of the move and the subsequent claims process. Local Motion was recommended by several people, including our realtor. Over the phone, Sarah (who was very nice) helped me with an estimate. They have a computerized system for determining how many boxes, movers and trucks are needed. I advised her that we have been a 2 day pack job in the past, and a 2 day move job: one day to load, another day to unload, and that we have large and heavy furniture. She seemed to compensate for this with her estimates. She overrode the computer estimate and said we'd still be a 1 day pack and a 1 day move. We'd just have more manpower and trucks to get the job done. On packing day, several guys arrived. They were not able to finish in one day and were scrambling the next morning to finish packing while the truck was being loaded. They did not have enough packing material. I heard verbal complaining by some packers over what a large job this was. The next day was moving day. We had 2 trucks (one was broken, but operational with limits), with many movers. These guys worked their tails off. They arrived at 8 in the morning and were not done until after 10pm. UNACCEPTABLE. This was projected to be a 6-7 hour move. These guys were all courteous and pleasant throughout the day and night, but it was obvious they were fatigued and most of them had to be back on the job early the next morning. There were still items left at our old house...since they could be put in our truck at another time, and for time saving purposes, my husband gave them the ok to leave them there since it was getting later in the day. At the end of the move, you sign the papers, and pay them the balance---so Local Motion has their money in full from you at the end of the day. As far as claims: We had an expensive table broken during the move. We did take insurance out on it individually. The movers badly damaged the slider door track at the old house when they dropped a heavy item on it. All in all- not bad for such a large move. Tony Lupton, VP handles the claims. He did set up a repair schedule for us, and everything started out fine. When the furniture repair guy came to look at the table, he determined he could not repair it to its original condition. So we started the claims process. The furniture guy was supposed to look at our slider track in the other house as well. He deemed the job to be out of his realm and let Tony know that. This is where it goes down hill. The contract you sign says Local Motion has up to 30 days to rectify claims. Suddenly my emails were not being returned, or I was getting bounced back to the furniture repair person. After being persistent we were told by Tony that the 30 days stated in the contract is just a "guideline". With much persistence, after being told why our $600 check would take so long to get to us, we finally received it. During this process, my husband contacted the owner, Mr Seeley. He never did hear back from him, but instead he heard from Tony Lupton,VP, who didn't hesitate to tell him that he and Mr Seeley are cousins. As far as the sliding door repair: we were getting close to our closing date with the buyers on that house (this is now the end of October. The move was end of August), and there was still no action with the repair. After more persistence on our part, Tony suggested I start the repair process and send them the invoice to save time. I took time out of MY schedule to meet with contractors, and finally have the door repaired (cost: $60, which is better than than the $3000 for a new door, which was the original plan- so I saved them money!) This was in late October. I AM STILL WAITING for reimbursement of my 60.00 from this company. Supposedly it was coming out of a different bank account than the $600 claim. Our boxes were picked up 30 days after the move. They made sure to charge my credit card for the few boxes that we still had not unpacked.
