I am disappointed by Les Jones Roofing. I requested that they send a rep out to provide an independent estimate on the roof of a potential purchase. The roofer was on time, and responsive on site however:1. The roofer did not identify roof related problems to the building as requested.2. The roofer did not send any written report regarding what he did recommend for repair.3. It felt like he was a trying to "sell" me rather than provide an estimate on what needed to be done.4. A different inspector uncovered numerous structural issues related to the roof and water damage, that was never mentioned by the Les Jones rep. All in all VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!I do not recommend this service provider.
Description of Work: Requested an independent inspection on issues related to potential structural damage due to the placement of a billboard on the roof.

Our Service manager went to the house and completed an inspection, taking multiple pictures of problem areas. Upon the completion of the inspection, he talked to the homeowner and explained the problems on the roof, showing the pictures. It was in the professional opinion of the Service Manager that the roof was beyond repair, there was little we could do. The reason there was no written report was because he talked with the homeowner immediately after the inspection, and there were no recommendations to repair, just replace. He followed up by sending an estimate, as the homeowner had requested. We’re sorry we couldn’t help this homeowner further.

It was a super experience. The sales person, Steve Spaid, was super. This all started last fall but my husband became very ill and had a long hospitalization. Steve couldn't have been nicer - went way "above and beyond." And the crew was good - they'd been together 10 years. They were prompt, professional, great workers and cleaned up very well. We couldn't be happier. The roof looks wonderful!
Description of Work: They tore off and replaced our cedar shake roof. They also worked with our insurance company - e.g. Steve Spaid came out when the inspector was here.

I noticed damaged shingles in October or September of 2010. after some insurance investigations and delays I decided upon Les Jones to do the repairs. They were very prompt and responsive during the time of getting estimates etc. The plan for work coincided with the first snow storm. Here is where the problems began. I didn't hear from Les Jones for 3 or 4 months as winter came. I understood that they couldn't easily do the work on my roof during such a snowy season. But I received no correspondence during those months. I called a couple of times and was told that the estimator or the worker would call me to let me know the status. they didn't. Until spring when I made a further call and was finally responded to. By that time a branch had fallen and hit the roof and gutter, so I asked if they could also take a look to see if further work was necessary. they agreed and showed up on time did a satisfactory job on the shingles and said that the gutter was slightly damaged and that they fixed that. They added a charge for the extra work. I received a bill and promptly paid it. I had occasion to be up cleaning gutters and I discovered that the fix' of the gutter was merely filled the broken edge with a waterproof calk. The fact that the gutter was bent in such a way that water no longer drained efficiently to the downspout was not addressed. Oh well - not a huge deal. I received another bill with a late charge some 2 months later. I immediately called and told them I had already paid promptly. After some time they found my account and agreed that I had indeed paid. I was apologized to and and assured that the situation was fixed. 2 months later I received a bill AGAIN with an even greater late fee. ( Is this going to my credit report?!) I was angry and called again. I talked to the book keeper who told me new computer program blah blah blah. Sorry it is really corrected this time. I was told I wasn't the only one that this happened to, as if that would make me happy in some way. I asked to speak to the owner, was given his voicemail and left a terse message. No one has contacted me from the company. Just as well. Have not received another bill-----so far.
Description of Work: Replaced damaged shingles and inspected the entire roof. Inspected and repaired (?) a gutter damaged by falling branch.

We were contacted by this customer to do repairs from damage on their roof. As stated, after we were contracted to do the work, the first big snow hit the cities. We contacted the customer to inform them that we wouldn’t be able to do the work until the snow had melted in the spring, at which time we would call them. There were no further calls during the winter months, because as it was explained, there was nothing we could do until it warmed up, and there were no updates to be given. In the spring we scheduled a date with the customer and we completed the contracted work. Our guys also worked to get the gutters straightened out, and they believed that the gutters were straightened properly. There were no extra charges for this. As the customer stated, he did pay his bill with great punctuality- it was with our new accounting system that things went wrong. As with anything new, there is a learning curve, and unfortunately this homeowner was caught in the crossfire. There was nothing put on his credit report. We’re sorry the homeowner wasn’t happy with the service on the gutters. A phone call would’ve gotten us out there to make sure you were happy with the end product.

had used Les Jones to repair a leak on a roofing job another firm had done. That was such a good experience that when I decided to replace that roof, I contacted them. They gave me an estimate and set a date; the job was finished in one day (a very long day). Clean-up was thorough and the dumpster was removed promptly. They also coordinated with the siding company who did their work after the roofing job was complete. Their contract was detailed and clear. They provided good information about how they would do the job, including an explanation of their recycling procedure which I liked. They also provided the names and phone numbers of staff who were responsible for various phases of the job, so I knew to whom I should speak, if necessary. They even gave me a phone number for emergency situations. They provided the written warranties and lien waivers when the work was completed.

I spent 45 minutes of my time and theirs when they came over to look at my roof problem on May 16, but even after multiple phonecalls they simply have not yet delivered a cost estimate (as of June 2). I would understand if there is too much work or if they don't want the job for some reason, but in that case a phone call explaining the situation would be nice.

Normally our estimates don’t take as long as it did with this homeowner. It was one of the busiest summers we’ve had, and as the member stated, a phone call should have been made to explain the situation. Unfortunately a call wasn’t made in a timely fashion. It’s with reviews like these that we are allowed insight from our customers to better our organization. After the review was posted we did complete the work to the customer’s satisfaction.

Les Jones came with a high recommendation from a friend of ours. He's an architect, and said that for every job he does, he suggests the home owner get a quote from Les Jones because they are great at what they do. With this glowing review, we met with and hired Les Jones in September of 2009. Along with the promised replacement of shingles, siding, and gutters, they promised to treat our house and yard with respect by protecting our plants with plywood, using a metal detector to find any loose nails/etc that fall in our yard during the construction, etc. They were in a bit of a hurry to get our project moving before winter hit, but we figured there was enough time considering the small size and layout of our house. Unfortunately it took over a year for them to finish. Meetings were missed, calls weren't returned, and even employees of the companies involved would complain about one another. They never delivered on the promises they made about the yard, either (It was so trashed, I had to take videos of it because I was so astounded). To their credit, the roof itself went fine, but the simple process of adding vents to it was too much for them to handle. They had to come not once, not twice, but FOUR times to fix the venting in the roof. Unfortunately, another contractor was involved with some interior work at the time, and every time he would come over, he'd look at the vent and say "Um... they didn't fix it. It's still completely unusable." and would have to leave. I'd then have to call Les Jones, schedule another patch-job, and wait a couple more days for them to fix the vent before I could get the interior contractor back over. It was a nightmare. Dealing with the siding was even worse, and will go down as one of the worst interactions with a contractor I will ever have (I hope, otherwise I give up on life). The entire first winter, our house sat without siding on it. The insulation paper used under the siding would rip off and roll down through neighboorhood, and we'd find it in our neighbors yards several days later. The siding itself was left in piles in our yard, uncovered, exposed, in the snow/rain/slush all winter long, which is expressly forbidden by James Hardie (the manufacturer of the siding) because it will cause the siding to degrade. When the spring finally arrived and all the snow melted on the pile of siding, that very siding was then put on our house. While putting the siding on the house, occasional damage would happen to the pieces, which is to be expected with such siding. However, instead of cutting a new piece to replace the damaged one, they would hang the damaged piece and wait for me to ASK for it to be replaced. Additionally, any angles that needed to be cut (such as the seam from the siding to the roof line) looked like it was cut with a butter knife. The line wasn't even, straight, or smooth, but completely jagged and aesthetically atrocious. It got so bad, I had to call James Hardie and have them send over a rep, so he could take a look at tell me what they were doing wrong, which was pretty much everything related to best-practices. The scariest piece if information I got from James Hardie was that our siding would not be covered by a warranty because it had been left in the rain and snow all winter. The entire process was extremely frustrating, and it was clear that they never had our best intentions in mind. What should have been a simple two month job took 12 months, and negotiating on the price with them at the end was like pulling teeth. I realize they have to make money to stay in business, but when a job goes this poorly, at some point you think they'd be nice enough to cut their losses and try to maintain a reasonable relationship with their customer. They failed at all of the above. I do not recommend anyone use Les Jones for any aspect of their home remodel, whether it be roof, siding, or gutters. However, if you're looking for someone to remodel your emotions, they do a wonderful job.
Description of Work: Entire roof was redone with 30 year shingles. Additional vents were added to the roof. Old aluminum siding was replaced with Hardie Board. Gutters were removed and replaced.

Not so often there is a job where anything that can go wrong, does. As the customer says, we came highly recommended from a friend- and normally for good reason. We bring 30 years of roofing experience to every job and leave each customer with the highest quality product possible. There were two parts to this job: roofing and siding. The roofing was completed by Les Jones Roofing to the customer’s high standard of quality. The vent issue that is mentioned was from the homeowner directing our Project Manager exactly where to put a vent, to which he complied. The problem arose when the insulation contractor said he couldn’t use it because of its proximity to the roof truss. This was corrected. We used a siding contractor that has since been let go by our company. There were multiple problems in working with them, with a poor end result. We worked with the homeowner to correct the problems he expressed, as well as giving a deep discount ($2,900). After everything had been taken care of, the customer was happy with the completed work and discount.

I had some shingles blow off during some high wind and contacted them through the site. I received a call the next day to get more details. They said they would have someone in my area later the next week ( which was fine ) and that they would call at the beginning of the week with a specific time. After hearing nothing from them by the middle of the week I called. I was treated very poorly by the staff and have never received a call back. Find someone more professional.

obtained estimate- responsive and efficient. Estimate was high but also the only company that was able to fix the problem in a way that I felt was the quality way to go. Work was done very quickly--much of the metal work was done off site. Prep work (removal of siding) was done by me--they worked with me to coordinate the timing. Statement came in mail--first statement was incorrect (for less than estimate) and I was notified with another statement that original statement was incorrect--I thought a phone call would have been more professional, but I didn't hesitate to pay.

Called for an estimate to reinstall a 9 foot section of fascia that fell from top of roof line. The price quoted was so out of line that I was astounded. I was told it would cost $500 to have two guys come out to put the fascia back in place. When I questioned the price I was told that labor was $90 per hour for two guys and trip charges were included. I ended up paying $75 to have this job done and it took two guys about 30 minutes from start to finish. Maybe this company does not like small jobs and prices so that no one will pay their rate..

They were very responsive in coming out to provide the initial quote. However, follow-up was poor. I'm not sure if they were in fact waiting for our part (their reason) or if they were backed up with a lot of work. Our Service manager met with the homeowner on July 2nd, an estimate was sent on July 8th, and work was completed on Aug. 6. There was a delay because we were waiting on a signed contract. If a contract is sent to a customer, we require it to be signed and sent back before we can do any work. This is for the protection of the homeowner and us, as it details what work is to be completed and for a set price. We’re sorry the homeowner felt they weren’t given the attention they should have. They were professional and were willing to go up on the roof to look into the problems. So I would give him pretty high marks on the estimation so far. It’s a little expensive to get the work done here and that’s the reason why I am taking some time in making a decision. Their bid was very clear to understand. They have a pretty good reputation in our particular area and do a lot of work here. They followed up and called me about two weeks later to know my decision. The repairs that I have are extraordinary repairs. It’s a 3 story house and not many roofers would like to go up there since it’s very high. I finally contacted 6 or 7 roofers and there were not many who wanted to get the work done at my house since it’s an old house. Les Jones Roofing was willing to get the work done but they charge accordingly. They were quite responsive. I am still considering using their services since I found them to be quite helpful.

I called for an estimate on repairs one day, Steve was out the next. After getting estimates on repair that were half of what a new roof would cost, I decided to get more information on new roofs (while he mentioned it, Steve did not try to sell me into this decision, which I respect), and Steve was there the next day on my roof taking measurements and looking for trouble spots. I received an email with a 12 page estimate within a week.
Description of Work: I ended up choosing another roofer, but Steve Spaid and the guys at Les Jones were my second choice, and made my decision very difficult. I would have felt very comfortable having them replace my roof. They were prompt, willing to discuss details and options with me, and found every issue that warranted attention. The price was right on (2nd cheapest of 5, and the top 3 were all in the same ballpark of $7-10,000- depending on options- for complete new roof, and replacing siding on dormers) Give them a call- VERY detailed estimates and VERY helpful when discussing your roof.

Good installers, using good materials and a professional installation with all the small touches that indicate a quality job. My only concern about dealing with a larger company like this is communication. You and the salesman agree on the job, then it gets written up and handed to a scheduler/foreman, then the scheduler/foreman hands it off to the work crew. I was the only point of continuity and felt it necessary to talk to the foreman and installers at each step to make sure everyone was aware of all the details. Maybe internal communication is better than it appeared, but a better system for my comfort would be to have one person shepherd a project on-site from start to finish. Results were excellent.
Description of Work: Replaced rubber roof on flat-roofed screen porch. Removed and reset gutters.
