Holt Lock & Key

It was fast and Tim delivered much more than I expected. He installed the door handle and lock for us, but also looked a couple of other nuisances around the building including a sticky lock and a loose deadbolt.

I called Tim, explained the issue and he was able to complete the job within two days. He was efficient and helpful.

Tim is a class act; he knows his stuff, brought the appropriate supplies with him, and did not try to sell me unneeded products. He kept me updated with respect to when he would arrive and did not leave any mess when he was done working. I recommend him highly.

Very well! Tim was the only locksmith to respond to my very distressed call after we discovered the break-in. I called at least 10 other locksmiths after the break-in and Tim was the only person who would come out and service our door on a Friday night. He was very helpful and provided a safe lock while we waited for our replacement door.

Fabulous experience. Tim came to our house on time, changed at least 7 locks, fixed doors, changed a broken door knob. Made safety recommendations. He was a fast, efficient, did excellent work and was a pleasure to have in the house. I am recommending him to all our friends.

Called Tim Holt on Friday, and scheduled appointment for following Monday. Tim called before he came, and arrived on time. He was very pleasant and explained everything. He was here about 20 minutes. His price was very reasonable. Very positive experience. (My house is hard to find. Tim was familiar with the area and had no trouble finding it!)

Tim did a fantastic job. All the locks and handles work great. He is also very pleasant and nice to work with. I would not hesitate to use him again or refer him to friends.

Tim was wonderful. He came later that same evening and rekeyed locks. He also righted one lock that had spun around and was upside down. He made plenty of extra keys as well. Tim was cheerful and pleasant. We would highly recommend him. We will use him again when it's time to replace our deadbolts.

The job went well and as expected. The back door handle was replaced and a dead-bolt added. He did make suggestions as to going with the less expensive lock hardware, which made sense. He also recommended that I leave the front-door dead-bolt as is. Overall, I was very satisfied with the work.

It went well. He worked fairly quickly and seemed petty efficient. He did arrive about an hour late, but called me to let me know that he would be late.

Exceptional. I was so impressed that he would even try and fix it rather than walk away. He was such a pleasure to talk to and have around which is not always the case with service people. He seemed to look at the work as a challenge but never promised what he could not deliver. The price was also very good. I found a similar lock on line that we could have ordered (would have had to wait a week or two) and that cost close to $200.

Owner Tim Holt was very knowledgeable about doors, locks, and safety. We initially asked him to quote the cost to re-key our house. When he arrived we also asked him to review our existing hardware and provide suggestions for improvement. We added a key-less entry to our front door and several deadbolts for safety. Tim did a good job overall but there are two complaints. First, it took four visits to finish the task. Second, he did not clean up after himself - we had wood and metal shavings in each job area after he left. Tim acknowledges that punctuality is not his forte. To his credit, he only charged us one service call fee.

Tim was SO helpful. A month before I called Tim, we moved into a 1958 home that had a surprising number of doors leading to the outside, all using different keys. There were also internal doors that used key locks. Tim walked through the house, thinking through where we would really want locks and where a passage knob would be more appropriate. For example, he advised a combination deadbolt lock on my garage service door (leading from outside into the garage), but a passage knob on the door leading from the garage into the house. He put a lot of thought into what would make us most secure, but what would prevent us from inadvertently locking ourselves out. He also gave me advice on how to make sliding doors more secure. He is pleasant, kind, prompt, thorough, and truly interested in serving customers.

My purse was stolen with my keys inside, along with my address, etc. I decided it would be best to change the locks on the house as soon as possible, but needed to get to work also. My husband contacted Tim Holt and explained the situation. Tim said he was in the neighborhood and would be able to fit us in within about an hour. He was good on his word and quickly rekeyed our locks. He was extremely friendly and fast, and made friends with our cocker spaniel!

Tim Holt is terrific. He showed us how the doorknob on the service door was broken, explained the options for the repairing/replacing the door and lock, didn't add on any unnecessary costs, and in fact told us that it wasn't necessary to replace the doorknob to save us that cost. He even called before the appointment to let us know that he was running a few minutes late. We hope we will never have problems with locks on our garage or home in the future but if we do, we will be calling Tim Holt.

Tom is a one-man shop, who clearly cares a lot about his business and his customers. He was prompt, cheerful, and cleaned up when he was finished. He answered my questions clearly, even when it meant I chose a less expensive solution. Tom is very talkative, and because it's just him, he took calls while he was here. However, he charges a flat rate, so I didn't end up paying for that extra time. To me it showed that he cares about his customers. However, I wasn't in a hurry. For someone who is, it might be annoying. I wanted this job done quickly, so I didn't get bids or estimates. The price seems perfectly reasonable.

It was easy to schedule. But at 10 minutes passed our appointment time, I called to see what was going on. Tim answered his cell phone, said he was running late and apologized. He told me how long it would be before he could get to my house, and he showed up within the time frame he said (I forget what it was -- but he was accurate). He apologized multiple times for his tardiness, was very friendly, answered all of my questions and performed the work. I wasn't sure exactly how much work would be performed, so I did not get an estimate. The work of re-keying two exterior doors and making three sets of keys amounted to about $90. Seems a bit steep to me, but I hadn't checked competitors and hadn't asked for an estimate, so I really can't complain. Tim completed work in a narrow window of time (only a couple of hours in which I was available) and I liked him. If my future research confirms that he is price competitive, I would definitely use him again.
