Holt Lock & Key

Went well. the representative came under short notice, he was knowledgeable and professional.

This is the second time we have used Holt Lock and Key. Tim did a great job both times. I was able to get an appointment quickly, he answered additional safety questions that I had and was candid about what he thought would be the most cost effective options. I would not hesitate to recommend his company.

My basement door wouldn't open, the knob kept spinning. Pull the pins off and it still wouldn't open. Tim had difficulty getting the doorknob off too, so I didnt' feel so bad about my attempt :). He did an excellent job, and the price was reasonable. He was also quite personable, and I enjoyed my interactions with him. I'd definately have him back here in the future!

Tim was great! Very nice, professional and responsive. Tim told me that with late appointments it's sometimes tricky to be exactly on time when I scheduled my service call. Tim called me with plenty of time to let me know that he was going to be a little late. I appreciated that he was respectful enough to call me so I was not sitting around waiting. I would both use and recommend HOLT LOCK & KEY again and again.

I called Holt, and got an estimate and then we planned a day to come over and do the work. He arrived on time and did the work quickly. He was very easy to work with and was very quick.

Told me he was in the neighborhood and would be here in 20 minutes. Friendly, reliable--said I wouldn't need a new lock. $65 service call plus $10 to repair. Tim Holt represents a solid, honest company.

I called Holt on Wednesday morning and my call was promptly answered. I described the problem and I was told my options and estimated pricing. I was told at the very least I could expect to pay $65.00 for a service visit and $25.00 for a new tumbler. At the most I could pay $350 to $400 if I needed completely new hardware for the door. The locksmith told me that he had an appointment on Thursday afternoon around 3:00p. At the end of the call he told me that in the afternoon he does not guarantee on-time arrival and that he wanted to be clear on that point. He arrived at 3:45p took a look at the door and told me that all that was needed was a new tumbler. He said he could key it to the rear entry lock if I desired. He also told me what he was going to do to square up the alignment of the door. We worked promptly and independently for 45 minutes and had us test out the door. Everything worked great so we paid him and sent him on his way. It is great to have our front door back in operation!

Tim showed up on time, was friendly and listened to my needs and gave appropriate feedback. He then went to work expediently and came upon completion to let me know what was performed and some additional concerns he wanted me to know of. He was on time, under budget and very easy to work with.

Very nice experience. Courteous, professional, friendly, efficient and very competent. Overall a pleasant experience. I am definitely keeping them in our contact list for future projects.

Wonderful. They were a great company to work with, the work was done within three days of calling. I was impressed that he was able to do all of the work in a few hours and he was very helpful in looking at the security of our house and things we needed to do.

Everything was wonderful. I called them because when I got home from surgery a lock would not work. It was somewhat of an emergency, so when another company could not come out, Holt said they could be out within a hour. They came, and he was so pleasant and accommodating. He was very helpful and talked with me about another part of his business, which was door insulation. I plan to have him back when I have the budget for another project. He was just outstanding, and his prices were reasonable. He was very knowledgeable, and the locks he put in are very high quality. He said if I call him for the door insulation he would waive the service fee. I couldn't be happier with him, and will use him again.

Everything went great. Tim is very professional, cordial, and offered great advice. He even went above and beyond to fix dead bolt slot in door frame to make sure the door shut completely and securely. My only negative comment would be about punctuality. We agreed that he would show up at 5 p.m. + or - 30 minutes and Tim was still about an hour late. This is a risk you take though when scheduling an appt at the very end of the day. I would suggest leaving work early or setting up an appt in the morning when Tim's schedule is more concrete.

Tim was right on time and got right to work. If I had known it would be this easy and inexpensive to re-key our locks, we would have done it years ago. Now we can throw away our collection of mis-matched and non-working keys, because the same key works in every lock. He even filed the keys if they showed even the slightest sign of sticking or not turning easily in the cylinder. Great job, great guy, great experience.

Not only did Tim change the locks for me, he also gave me a primer on home security. The only very small thing I would fault him for is talkativeness--but I wouldn't have wanted to hire anyone else to do my locks. The extra time was time well spent for me. Just keep in mind that if you're in a hurry, you should probably let him know at the beginning of the job. I'm sure he can adapt.

The guy who came out was very helpful when it came to assessing our needs. He did a good job of advising us on what to consider and what not to worry about. He came out right on time. He was cheerful and friendly while he was at our home. He got all of the work done promptly. I thought that he did a good job. He seemed to be reasonably priced.

Everything went very well. It would have been useful if he would have had sample door catalogs to share as options, but that would have been even above and beyond. Good job!

Tim arrived early and, while waiting for me, cut the padlock on my mailbox off. Tim then looked at my door and explained that to have the lock keyed to match my other locks, the cylinder would have to be replaced. He quoted me the final price (which matched his estimate) and then did the work. While this wasn't a concern, I did have to throw my weight against the door when I locked the deadbolt. After Tim had done his work, the door closed perfectly - a bonus! Tim was professional, extremely nice, took the time to explain everything to me, and did wonderful work. I would highly recommend him.

Tim Holt's demonstrated knowledge of vintage locks commonly used in our metro area homes - combined with his professionalism and pleasant nature - made this choice of company a solid winner. I highly recommend him to others.

Tim responded to our voicemail immediately and came out to replace three door handle locks and three deadbolts. Tim was very pleasant, professional, and answered all our questions. The price was, of course, higher than if we did it ourselves, but reasonable for getting it taken care of in about an hour and a half, and with the assurance of a professional job. Nice person and would highly recommend him.

It went great! When Tim was here changing the front door lock, I asked him to look at another problem with a different lock. This wasn't part of the proposed service call, but he responded and repaired the issue perfectly.

He arrived a little later than expected, but he called right on time to say he was running a few minutes late. He assessed our needs. Gave us choices about how to proceed. Had the selections available. He checked other entry door non-locking mechanisms to be sure they were in working order.

I was in the middle of a redecorating project which included swapping out all the old door hardware, including locksets. I had a particular look in mind but was unable to find what I wanted at the big box stores. So I sent an email to Holt with pictures of what I was trying to replace and what look I was going for. Within a couple of days (my email went out on a Friday night so a Monday response didn't bother me), Holt provided weblinks for things to look at, and approximate prices. I knew exactly how much the project was going to cost me! In the end, I was able to find what I needed at one big box store at a lower price than the other big box stores, and I learned that most of these stores will re-key locksets to match for a nominal fee. While I ended up doing the work myself, I would not have had the information or confidence to do so without contacting Holt.

Tim was like a dream come true. After I had been stood up by another company, I was frantically looking for someone who could come when I was able to be home. I have a frantic work schedule. Tim was excellent at working around my schedule. He arrived on time, was friendly and professional. Also, I had originally thought that I wanted the screen door re-keyed, but he pointed out why it might be wiser to just fix the dead bolt behind the screen door. He did both of these things and also lubricated the lock and still came in at the same price quoted on the phone. The price was comparable to other quotes that I had gotten, but I'm not sure what to say about the price since he ended up doing something different from what I originally thought I needed done. Tim did spend as much time working on the door as what he had initially thought over the phone, so I feel that I either got my money's worth or more than my money's worth. I know absolutely nothing about locksmithing and had never used one before. I did have a great experience, I know that.

Overall, it went well - Tim realized during his first visit that he needed to order a part. This was not an emergency situation, and I was in no hurry, but it took almost 7 weeks for him to get the part and come back! The price was higher than I expected, (I probably had to pay for 2 trip charges since he had to come out twice - not his fault!) I did not get an estimate, either. (MY fault!!) Tim is a really nice guy; very sociable, and I have complete confidence in his abilities! I would absolutely call him back for any additional work.
