Holt Lock & Key

We recently moved into a new home and decided to replace all the exterior door knob and locking mechanisms. All the doors required a key to lock and unlock from the inside, we wanted them changed out so that we did not need to have keys to lock unlock from the inside. In addition, we had a keypad lock installed on the garage to house door. Holt Lock and Key was highly professional and thorough. I was a little surprised at the cost of the project, however, a little research confirmed that Holt used high quality hardware and so I am confident the price is right! We are extremely pleased with the results.

Tim can be called the "Door Whisperer" for older home door locks. He is an excellent craftsman and very nice/personable to work with. He goes the extra effort to make sure everything is working properly. All the work was very customized to working with what we had, and making it work as new. Custom work included fitting a key to storm door profile cylinder, repairing the mortise sets and installations/retrofiting of hardware on existing doors. He also spent a great deal of time explaining the pros and cons of working with existing doors/hardware vs. putting in new doors/hardware. I'm sure if we'd chosen to install new doors that he would do excellent work with that also. We'll definitely call him for other lock and door work.

Tim was a real pleasure to work with. I was struck by his professionalism and level of service. In addition to rekeying our locks, he inspected our doors, cleaned the locks themselves, and offered some suggestions for things to consider from a security standpoint. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again and highly recommend him.

Called Mr. Holt on a Friday to get a quote to rekey the locks of a townhome I lease. The quote was better than another company closer to the home and he worked weekends, so I decided to hire him. He came the following day with his son. When making the appointment, he said he was servicing another place in St. Louis Park so he couldn't promise being there at exact time. He did say that he was going to call me when he was about a half hour away to the home. When he arrived, he was professional (asked permission to open the garage so he would not have to remove his shoes), quick & efficient (was probably done within 15 minutes), and friendly and professional (he appeared to enjoy doing his job and talking to customers) He gave 4 keys. The keys were cut inside his service van and given in the same visit. I'm content and would probably use him again.

When I discovered that the latch was broken, I checked Angie's List. I called Holt. He came within 30 minutes and fixed it right away. The service was amazingly good. Quick, efficient and professional. I highly, highly recommend this locksmith.

Tim responded immediately on a Sunday. He was where we needed locks changed within 10 minutes and was already working on the project when I arrived. Tim is professional, personable and thorough. He charged me weekly rates in spite of the fact that this was on a weekend. I was so pleased with his responsiveness and the quality of his work that I paid him more than he actaully requested when he was finished and presented his bill. I will totally use him again if I need a locksmith. I cannot recommend him more highly. Bravo, Tim!

Fantastic! He worked hard and got the job done in a timely manner, was very professional, explained everything about what he was doing, and gave me options on how to go about it.

We needed to get locks changed ASAP. It was a quasi-emergency situation. We called Tim around 10:00 a.m. and he was able to come out by 1:00 p.m., which was great. Tim was on time, very professional and completed the work quickly and competently. We asked that 3 keys be made, but he gave us 4 -- and didn't charge us for the keys (saved $8.00). A bright spot in an otherwise bleak day. Good job Tim!

Tim came and cut a Kryptonite lock, for which I had lost the keys, off my bicycle. He was prompt, friendly and got the job done.

I used Tim about four years ago and had such a good experience with him that I kept his card. When we needed a locksmith to fix our door and open a service panel to which we didn't have a key I didn't hesistate to call Tim again. He was warm and friendly on the phone, showed up right on time and performed the work we agreed on, all while giving me safety advice and fun conversation. His price is very reasonable as the $120 included his time and a new door knob. If you need a locksmith, call Tim. You won't be sorry, he's a super guy and a true professional.

I was very impressed with Tim's skill and professionalism. He worked quickly and cleaned up after the messy work. I expected to pay more since he needed to make two trips and all the time it took to remove the old lock and fill the large hole and install the new knob but was pleasantly surprised.

Tim did a great job and was very helpful in giving me ideas for the best way to lock my new house. I also had him install a deadbolt in my downtown office. Very good guy and obviously takes pride in his business and work.

We could not open our front door lock anymore, so I called Tim Holt to replace the lock. Tim discovered the defective piece was the cylinder itself so he replaced it. He also keyed the new cylinder to match our back door key so we no longer have to keep two keys. Tim even showed us how to use the deadbolt portion of the door, which we had never used. Tim was fast, polite and a pleasure to talk with.

I picked up the lock the next day as we had arranged and installed it the following weekend with ease thanks to Tim's advice. Worked like a charm.

Tim responded very quickly to my first phone call. We set up a time for him to view the home and discuss what types of locks we should use. Entry way has two sets of doors with different finishes on the door sets. Tim made sure all the locks he changed would work on the same key. Price quoted was exactly what he charged us. He changed out 6 locks in 2 hours. (much faster then we could have done it!) We would not hesitate to call him if we needed additional locksmith services.

Tim came to rekey the entire house after months of renovations and numerous keys being given out to various subcontractors. First, Tim could not possibly be a nicer or more pleasant person! He is a superb locksmith and was able to rekey all of our locks within a couple of hours. Further, he suggested having an electronic lock on one of the doors which makes it easy for us to allow access to the house by certain people at selected times. Tim came to the house, checked what I wanted done, made an extra trip to get a special lever style front door handle and extra large keys that he didn't carry on his truck. We only had a key for one door in our new house so he had to open and re-key 4 existing locks on the other doors to match the 3 new deadbolt locks he put in (one was on a security screen door). He also provided and put in another passage door handle. He was pleasant, knew what to do and got right to work. He and his son even recycle the old brass parts and keys.

The keys were locked in the vehicle. The service provider showed up within 10 minutes of our call, and on a Sunday! He was very friendly and professional. The job was complete in less than 5 minutes. The best service I've received for this situation!

It went beautifully! When he came out to put my lock in last winter, he said that he could help with the insulation issue as well, which I had been told was an unsolvable problem. In addition to the installation, he also painted the unfinished wood, which he doesn't always do. He had to work on it for quite a while, and it turned out great. He really knows what he's doing and is a terrific serviceman.

My wife's bag with drivers license and keys was stolen the night before. Called Holt around 8:30am the next morning and he was there at our house at 11am. Very helpful and friendly discussing the situation and the needs at our house. Suggested exactly what was needed, nothing more and nothing less. Gave great information but did not push added products or services. Did all the work in about 90 minutes and left us feeling much more secure. Cost was reasonable and absolutely worth it.
