Gutter Systems

I talked with Bruce on the phone and described what I needed. He came by and looked at the project (without telling me) and gave me a quote over the phone. I asked to actually meet in person ans review what I had asked for. We did that, and the quote was the same. Bruce told me it would be about 2 1/2 weeks before he could get to it. 2 1/2 weeks later he called and said he would be out the next day. Then the next day he called and said his assitant hadn't shown up and he'd have to delay for a week. Two hours after that he showed up! The installation went quickly, but he did not tie into a downspout in the way we had discussed. When I pointed this out, he said I had never mentioned it, and that what I wanted to have done was not possible. Considering the price I was paying, I decided I could live with the way it had been done. The real problem began the following week when people who were installing an ice-melt system told me that the new gutters leaked at all their joints. I confirmed this and called Bruce. His response was that he would talk to his assistant. Two days later I called again and got the same answer as well as his lament that that was the best he could do. His assistant called on Wednesday and said he would be out on Friday. He didn't come. I called the assistant on Saturday and he came out Saturday afternoon. We had had the driveway paved two days before and had erected barriers to keep cars off the driveway. His assistant moved the barriers and drove onto the fresh concrete. Keeping my temper under control I told him he needed to move off the driveway - which was fortunately dry enough that he did not do visible damage to it. His assistant was there for about 45 minutes and sealed all the joints. But he did one of the worst caulking jobs I've ever seen - with silicon caulk spread 1/2 inch thick over everything within two inches of the joints - so that water will now stand in my gutters except in heavy rains. And he left a rag in one gutter and moved the ice melting wires in another. Here's my reading of the whole experience. Bruce is an honest and competent guy but he does not take responsibility for the errors that his employees make. His prices are certainly fair; but if you hire him, insist that he check all the work done by his employee before you pay him. Things came out sort-of-all-right in the end, but it was much more of a hands-on experience than I would have liked.

Overall a good experience. Bruce got the job done when he said it would be. Price was reasonable. Just waiting for rain to test the system out now.

They did excellent service. They did the job and cleaned up after themselves. They did it all for the price they had originally quoted me for.

Bruce was incredible. He came out and gave a fair estimate for replacing my gutters, including suggestions about how to redirect water to my garden. He gave me an estimate about when he could do the work, and then called me a few weeks later to confirm that he could do it about the same time as he'd estimated. He and his helper showed up on time and were incredibly efficient. They were done by 2:00, and the gutters look terrific. I couldn't be happier.

We are happy to finally have gutters! Bruce's estimate came in right where we thought it would. He wrote the estimate while he was at our house and made project adjustments based on consultation with us. He even volunteered to come back to meet with me later in the day, since I was at work and missed being at the original estimate. He must have learned along the way that everyone needs to be on-board before the final decision. Wise man! He was more than willing to work with us on rain barrels (we would buy them and he would help install them). But in the end, we decided to wait until the end of the summer to get them on sale, and have Bruce come out next spring to help get the barrels set up. I appreciated his no-frills approach and I never felt pressured or manipulated. He had a variety of options to consider and he was willing to explain the pros and cons of each to help me and my husband decide. Bruce was able to start the project 2 days early because of a change in his schedule. He came in and started work at 7AM and was done before 2PM with everything cleaned up and finished. He even tacked down a piece of aluminum fascia that had come loose from a recent storm, saving my husband an adventure with the ladder. The project came in right on budget and we were happy to learn that he warranties his work for 10 years. Great work and peace of mind!

Called Bruce twice, he finally called back, we set up an appointment to look at the job and he had to re-set it twice. He never did show up to look at the job when we agreed to a time.

Bruce was very professional and knowledgeable. He was prompt for the estimate and spent about an hour with us answering all of our questions. We were worried that K-style gutters would not work on our home but he explained why they would and how he would install them. He gave us a written estimate before leaving the house. He showed up on time for the installation and went right to work. He finished up in just over 1 day and the work looks great. He even hauled off some gutter remnants that were in the garage when we bought the house! The final bill was exactly as promised - no surprises. All-in-all a great experience.

The guy was honest. He was knowledgeable on gutters. I would use them in the future.

Bruce gave me a quote on the phone. After getting other estimates, it was clear he provided the best value. He came over and gave me a written quote, including a fixed price/ feet. He had to repair (hidden defects). He did a great job and finished it in one day

I have a split level home and during one one of the recent rains I had water pouring through the door frame of my garage door going into the house. Come to find out that the gutter on my second level was butted up right next to the garage roof and was not capped so when my gutter was full of leaves the water poured directly into the garage. I called Bruce after reading Angie's List reviews and he was out the next day to give me an estimate. He saw right away what the problem was. It was a holiday weekend and he told me he could do the job the next week. I also had been wanting larger downspouts so had him do those at the same time. Bruce gave me a call Tuesday after Memorial day and did the job Wednesday. He also checked the wood where he shortened the gutter because I was concerned about any rotting . He even painted the trim where the gutter was shortened which I thought was great because I would have had to get someone else to do it. We discussed gutter covers and I will be calling Bruce to install those this fall since I am surrounded by so many trees. I just couldn't have him do them right now and he was fine with that.

Bruce showed up on time for estimate, walked me through his pricing, and install locations that he recommended. I thought his price was reasonable so he said he would call me the following week to schedule. He called me later that same week to let me know that he could come the following Monday. Showed up on time and got right to work. We set up a power source for him and left him to it. Finished most of the work the first day and came back on day two to do downspouts and hook up rain barrels. Bruce is pleasant and, as others mentioned, gets right to work. We just had a pretty big rainstorm and it appears that the gutters are doing what we need them to. Very pleased.

Bruce was the first to return my phone calls, gave us the best price, started the job when we wanted and went out of his way to get us color samples so that we could choose custom colors for the gutters. Awesome. His supplier gave him the wrong-color elbows but he came back to correct them within a week. He did park his truck on our front lawn (perhaps he had to with all the cars parked on our street), leaving some ruts for me to fix, so if you don't want this to happen make sure there is space for his truck near the job site. We look forward to hiring Bruce again!

Gutter overflowing problem from original gutter installation not performed by Gutter Systems. Poorly engineered and installed. Bruce knew what to do to remedy the situation and made the appropriate fixes in a timely and professional manner.

We were interested in getting leaf proof/resistant gutters installed and we had called some of the big names in the industry. We found the prices to be high and we were worried about being able to do the work at all. Then, while waiting for a tire to be replaced, we found gutter systems listed in a neighborhood paper. We gave Bruce a call and arranged to have him take a look and give us an estimate. Despite the all the snow on the ground, he was able to do this. He also recommended we take a look at the roof for damage from last years storms. We confirmed with the insurance company that there was no damage and then had Bruce come out to do the installation. The work crew was quick, efficient, and professional and they cleaned up thoroughly afterward. The gutters look great and we look forward to not having to prop up the ladder on uneven surfaces ever again. Overall, we were pleased with the transaction from start to finish. From the initial consultation, to the cost, to the completion of the job, things went very smoothly. We highly recommend Gutter Systems.

Called Bruce for a quote. Called him back to tell him we wanted his services. He called back on Monday and said he would be available to come to install on Tuesday. Arrived right on time and performed the installation quickly and with quality. Great job! Would recommend.

Bruce was very responsive. He came out and bid at a time that was convenient for me. He provided a bid and showed me a sample of the product he uses. The bid was very low compared to a couple others. Bruce answered my questions and was polite, but was a little less communicative than I might have preferred. He's just a no-nonsense, here's my product, here's your quote (on the back of a business card), any questions, kind of guy! Others were more polished in their salesmanship, but Bruce seemed honest and straightforward. So, I went with Bruce and I was very pleased with his work. He showed up right on time and he and his co-worker completed the work in less than one day. The gutters look great, the price was exactly as he bid, and the cleanup went very well too. I am very happy I chose to go with Gutter Systems!

Fast, clean, good looking nice touches, such as velcro tabs to hold fold-up run out spouts up out of the way when not needed. Followed my particular directions, nice custom job. Very good price, complete clean up, Minor glitch in one of the "Leaf Solutions" panels, a small gap which is not visible from the ground, and probably will not affect performance. The company was not able to fix the gap, but they tell me it is normal, and will not do any harm. Probably true. I am very satisfied.

Bruce was the lowest bidder overall and when I asked him to quote the leaf guards on everything, it ended up being about 1/2 of the next bidder. They showed up on time and finished quickly. When there was confusion on the quote, Bruce made it whole by travelling to Northfield to pickup and deliver 2 very cool Rain barrels made from French Oak. I would use him again.

The owner showed up for estimate and gave the best price of 3 estimates I recieved. He used two tone gutters. The owners showerd up in work clothes. However, the bid was good and the gutters look good. He installed them within 3 days.

It went very well. Bruce provided a fast quote that was reasonable. He was able to schedule the work quickly. He was punctual, fast and did an excellent job. He is very personable as well. Very accommodating. It was truly a pleasure.

Bruce came to give me an estimate and instructions of how to prepare the site for the rain barrel that we already had. He arrived promptly on the day he said he was going to and worked quickly. He advised my husband on some more of the details for preparing the rain barrel. That night there was a huge rain storm and everything worked great.

Bruce responded promptly, scheduled and completed the repair quickly.

The wind and rain shook one of gutter loose from my house and it was hanging close to the phone wires. The gutters also neeed a good cleaning. Gutter Systems responded to my phone call within a couple of hours and it was a weekend. They gave me an estimate which increased slightly after they came and looked at the damage. They were extremely prompt in taking care of the problem without over-charging. I was very pleased with the cost, work done and promptness of service. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a quick repair.

He was very responsive and came right out and took care of it. Everything seems to be a good seamless gutter system and is working appropriate. They are aesthetically attractive.
