I have used GH for lawn fertilization for about 4 years. The service has been fine up until this year. On two occasions after applications my lawn had spots that burned up. I contacted them twice and was told they would send a manager out. I never heard back from them. I will not longer use GH.

Green Horizons is based out of Minnesota. They have a West Hartford outlet that covers West Hartford, Glastonbury and other surrounding towns. I have been with them for approximately 3 years. Their service is excellent. They are always on time and take pride in their work. When they leave your property, it looks as though a professional did the work, as opposed to some high school kid. Their ability to trim my vast amount of shrubbery is also excellent, taking the same pride and concern over my needs. They are conscientious and task driven. During the cold winter months and the heavy snow during the winter of 2011, they removed my snow off my driveway and walks without a problem. What a reassuring feeling to open the garage door to see snow over two feet high, knowing that I could count on the reliability and dependability of Green Horizons. I highly recommend this company and have developed a great rapport with the crew of Green Horizons. They are always anxious to hear your concerns and never afraid to make you happy. Update: Blizzard of 2013 - Once again Green Horizons exceeded my expectations with excellent customer service and performance. While neighbors waited for their driveway to get cleared out, I was the first in my neighborhood to receive service. Moving 26 inches of snow around on a corner lot was certainly a challenge but Green Horizons took care of it. They returned on the evening of 2/11/2013, to finish the sidewalks the town plows loaded with four feet of snow. It is extremely difficult to find a company that raises the bar and surpasses average performance. Green Horizons continually makes me confident that there is nobody better out there for all my outside maintenance needs in the landscaping department.

Very good. They have an email/text system that alerts you when they are coming and they are quick and efficient at mowing. They also trim along the fence and flower beds, then blow all the sidewalks clear. In the last two years I have had a few problems with them and they have always taken care of the issue and not repeated it. Once they forgot to mow a strip of grass between my house and the neighbors. And another time they mowed off a few tall flowers that had blown over onto the grass after a rainstorm, instead of lifting them up and mowing under them (personally, not an issue - but they were my neighbor's flowers and she was not happy). Both times, Green Horizons was responsive and has not repeated the problem. Their pricing was the LOWEST - with some places quoting me double what these guys do. Overall, I think they are a great value for mowing services. They gave me an estimate for snow removal, as well, but the price was extremely high and I went with a local guy for that service last year.

Very poorly. See above. If you have a hedge you want trimmed you can go with this company. If you have bushes/shrubs that need to be pruned, beware.

We have contracted GH for many years. This year, their service and responsiveness/communication were so lousy that we had to fire them after 2+ months of going round and round without satisfaction. First, the lawn-mowing crew scalped several areas of our freshly laid sod to such a degree that the grass died. Second, GH's idea of addressing the dead grass areas was to throw some grass seed on them. Third, the crew member who scalped those areas in the first place was insolent to us (the customers), smoked on our property, and, get this, threw away his cigarette butt in the garden (where I found it when I was gardening). Each time, we called GH and complained and they said they'd fix this or that. What finally got them fired was they promised not to send the same crew back to our property, but we caught them in this lie yesterday when the same crew arrived to mow (and scalp?) the lawn. I will NEVER utilize GH again, and I urge other customers to drop them..

They responded promptly to my request for an estimate. They sent a form letter with their services and prices that was signed by a human being. They highlighted the services I requested. I liked that. Their price for mowing my lawn was very reasonable but the cost for the fall clean up was $80 and $90 higher than several other companies. I read the details of their prices for lawn maintenance (fertilizing and aeration) and they are well over $100 higher than the service I now have. Also, they do not do snow removal. The company I chose does mowing, snow removal and fall clean up. I would have gladly chosen them if their prices were lower because I'm on a fixed income.

Its going great. They come on time and they have a great price.

They pay attention to detail, and they are flexible when scheduling. When I call a real person answers the phone. I am very pleased with the services they provide, and will continue to use them this year.

They did a good job. I have been using them for over 8 years. They are dependable. They are competitively priced. I will continue to use them again in the future.

I have used Green Horizons for several years for snow removal and summer yardwork. The summer yardwork is not a problem. They do a nice job at competitive prices. Their snow removal is a totally different story. Their seasonal snow removal rates were fairly competitive and they offer two levels - regular (1 1/2 in. or more) and deluxe (1/2 in. or more). They normally came after the city snowplow had been by. They would come back for free once at your request if the city plow came back and plowed the end of the driveway in. Last year I upgraded to the deluxe level expecting to have a clearer driveway. Almost as soon as I did that, their performance deteriorated. They shovel the sidewalks with a shovel but only use the blade on the pickups for the driveway so there is always a layer of snow which turns to ice. I reguested that a spot be cleared on the boulevard beside the driveway to put garbage cans for pickup. Last year we received a increased amount of snow over previous years. They were not up to the challenge. After a couple times plowing they stopped clearing the spot for the garbage cans. This year they raised their rates and added a $10.00 charge to come back and plow after the city plow has come through. Now, in order to collect that extra $10.00, they come BEFORE the city plows. They come back AFTER the city plow has come. I have never requested them to come back but they have three times this season. I said at the beginning of this that I would use their service again. I will use their summer services as those are pretty good. If I can find another service for snow removal I won't use Green Horizons again. Last year when I gave them low ratings someone from Green Horizons contacted me to see what I wasn't liking and things improved for a little while. This year the highest rating I have given them is a 1 (out of 6) and no one has contacted me at all. It's as though they don't really care if the customer is satisfied as long as they get the money. 3/13/12 Mario, from Green Horizons, contacted me this morning to discuss the less than stellar review I gave their snow removal service. We were able to reach an agreement regarding the plow out charges. He explained as he stated, in his response, that the routes are shorter this year so they are getting to the customers sooner so they are there before the city plows. I acknowledge that does make sense. However it is not the customers fault that the city plow comes after Green Horizon's plow. It doesn't matter if the driveway has been plowed if the end is plowed shut by the city plow. You still cannot get your car out. I would rather Green Horizons come a little later and do the full job at one time. I am unable to do the plowing/shoveling myself so I am at their mercy in getting the end of the driveway opened after the city plow comes by. In his response Mario mentions that I upgraded to the deluxe level and and quot;that being a deluxe customer does not mean you get better service. The only difference between out standard and deluxe service is the amount that triggers us going out to perform service.and quot; I said in my review and quot;Last year I upgraded to the deluxe level expecting to have a clearer driveway.and quot; What I meant by that was since they would come out after .5and quot; of snow I expected to have less packed snow left on the driveway than when they were coming out after 1.5and quot;. They have never plowed down to the pavement on the driveway but Mario assured me today that is the expectation. After speaking to Mario today I will use their snow removal service next year and hopefully I will see a large improvement. I will definitely be contacting Green Horizons if the service hasn't improved from this year.

They did mowing and trimming. They came and did weekly service. My tenants were very pleased with their service. They showed up on time. They came the same time every week. They were reliable, dependable, and did a nice job. I have had some issues with them responding to emails and phone enquiries of all their service. Their lawn care is good, but I would include their overall service like relationship and responding to phone calls in the office.

The price stated was for 2 leaf removals. However I have used Green Horizons for 7 years now and I've had enough. Very expensive for me as they have a yard minimum and my yard is smaller than that. They came early and did leaf removal before my trees dropped their leaves, but charged full price. Use of edger on my lawn took paint and wood off my fence and I had to talk to them twice about it. No one in crew spoke English so there were lots of calls made between crew and main office before I was understood. Continuly left my side gate open after doing grass cutting so that my dogs got out. Unwilling to reduce price though they acknoweldge that my lawn takes almost no time to service. Just too pricey for the quality and amount of work needed.

My yard was in major need of leaf cleanup! I let Green Horizons know the sooner the better and they were out the next day with a crew getting rid of the 1+ foot of leafs! They came and picked up the leafs the following day and will be back before it snows to do the rest.

They did a great job on the one-time weed removal. The weekly mow is reliable and the lawn treatment is effective. Tom is very responsive and readily available to answer questions. I plan to hire them for snow removal, too.

Came out on 7/18 to give me an estimate on drip lines and fix some sprinkler heads. Service called as they had to schedule another appointment as they did not have piece they needed to complete work. I called Customer Service to have drip lines installed. When service guy came on 7/26 to finish the repair, he did not know he was supposed to do installation. Called Customer Service again to reschedule installation and asked that sprinkler heads they replaced be aimed at the grass instead of road and driveway. Only opening was when we were on vacation but they said no one needed to be home. When we returned we had no idea what zone the drip lines were and sprinkler heads had not been adjusted. Called Customer Service again - asked that they come back out. They were supposed to come on 8/9 but no one showed up. When I called Customer Service they said their guy was backed up and they didn't know if he would show. Not sure why no one called to say he was running late or that I would have to reschedule. They threw the repair guy under the bus first chance they had. I had to contact them to reschedule an appointment THEY missed. Was scheduled for 8/22 - but they showed up on 8/15 - they indicated that was my fault. My work is still not done but I am done with them.

I spent around $100 on that work. The quality of work is excellent. I have never seen the people because I am at work when they come and I have a bill stuck in my door. It is a very good company.

It was okay. They had done the dethatching once before and we thought the time before was better than this time. We were not home when they did it this time so we didn't get to see exactly what they did. Just from what was left, we felt they did a better job a couple of years ago. They did a great job on the hedges and we would recommend them for that work. We were sorry we weren't home when they last came so we could have seen what they did. A supervisor did come around and we told him that we were just okay with it, but that was kind of the end of it. They did come within the vicinity of when we asked them to. We knew they were coming that week but we didn't know when. The other time we had asked them to call us so we would be home and that was great. We would use them again.

They were fine and their prices are good, but they misjudged my property line and consistently missed a strip alone the north edge of the property. It is not hard to figure out where the property line is but I could see how someone could get confused. So after a couple aplications I sent them an e-mail that carefully explained that they were missing a strip alone the north edge of my front yard. The response was something along the lines of "we'll come and spray for weeds next week." Me, "Huh? That's fine but you have consistently been missing a strip alone the north edge of my property. The grass is all yellow and weedy, where all the rest of my lawn is dark green and pretty much weed free." After three e-mails with responses that completely failed to acknowledge the (miner) problem I was trying to point out and get corrected, I gave up. Other than that they were great, but who ever answers their e-mail is either a moron or doesn't care if the job get's done right. I did keep using them for the rest of the year and they never did get that area. This year I am using a different service.

Did the job as expected. Missed a couple of spots in the spring clean up and came back to fix without question. I also asked them to trim around a few areas better during the mowing. They took the feedback and the issue was corrected on the next visit. Overall a good expirence. Also asked them to do a fall cleanup, but has not happened yet.

We called for such a one-off mow and was told that Green Horizons no longer offered this kind of service. . The rep on the phone never asked for our name, and simply told us "one offs" were not being offered anymore. I wrote a report on Angie's List about it. Several weeks (and a mow from another co.) later, Mike, their manager, called me and apologized that this had occured. He said that of course, they would have provided such service, if they had taken the time to see our account, and that we've been a long time steady customer of "one offs" over the years. Our experience first led us to take our business elseewhere, but they did well to reach out to smooth things over. We will considering using them again.

We've actually used this company now for 3 years to plow our lot and shovel our sidewalks. Each successive year has gotten progressively worse. The straw that broke the camel's back came after the first major snow storm of the 2010/2011 winter season. They did not come to plow our lot or shovel our sidewalks for 3 days when we were snowed in, which resulted in us hiring a new contractor for the remainder of the season. This company clearly doesn't have the equipment or manpower to service their customers in the manner they claim they can. They cited that they incurred multiple equipment failures as the reason they could not come and chose to plow the homes in the suburbs over their city customers. Customers in Minneapolis were not plowed until well after the storm. When I requested an emergency related phone call they neglected to call back, and my only source of information was their answering/on hold service. They often times came late in the day (they only guarantee service within 24 hours so if you have to work early in the morning you may find yourself snowed in), and do an incomplete job. They failed to shovel the walks to the edges and consistently leave snow on them rather than shoveling down to the pavement. They did not fully plow our parking lot edge to edge. They only use a blade and do not provide bobcat service. Our property is a commercial property and we were almost cited in 2009/2010 for failing to provide safe sidewalks by the city of Minneapolis. This company claims to be able to provide commercial service however when asked to live up to their guarantee they do not, nor do they guarantee snow removal within 4 hours as is cited in the MInneapolis city codes as a requirement for commercial properties and residences with more than 2 households. When I called to ask them about this, they stated that they were not aware of the code. I had contacted the company to provide feedback and request additional service however they failed on multiple occasions to remedy the situation. My only positive about this company is they're an inexpensive solution. They offer a guaranteed rate and state that they can come after every .5" snowfall, which would be nice if they could provide a quality experience. Their customer service representatives are also very nice on the phone.

They also do land fertilizing and service in the winter and spring. They were fairly priced, but I was not happy with their services. I may not continue using them in the future.

I thought Green Horizons Inc did an average job. The price was good. They finished quickly. I was not available when they came to work.

I have subscribed with their service to provide snow removal for this winter season. They are to remove the snow from my driveway and walk. So far this winter we have had 13 snow events that they should have plowed and shoveled. I have had to shovel all but one because they do not come on time. I am typically shoveling the snow from 12-18 hours after the snow event. Once I called to complain and they were here in 10 minutes - which is the one time I did not have to do it. Today is a good example. The snow began on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. I arrived home at 11:00 p.m. on Sunday. We had received around 10 inches at this point. I was able to get my car in only just off the street, which I needed to do for the snow plows. My driveway is 2 cars wide and about 24 feet deep. At 2:00 a.m. I heard the Green Horizon truck arrive. They shoveled a path around both sides of my car about 1 1/2 feet wide and up to my front door about 1 foot wide. It is now 6:30 p.m. on Monday. It has been snowing on and off all day and we are up to about 18 inches total snowfall. I was gone and the driveway was empty from 8 a.m. on and when I just arrived home again, no one had been back to do my driveway. I called to complain today, and they said they would get back to take care of it and to be understanding because we have had so much snow. Isn't this why I hired them? Well now I am going out to shovel, because I cannot even get my car in the driveway - let alone in the garage. I tried to cancel my service a month ago, because I was so unhappy, but wouldn't you know it, the fine print requires 30 days notice. Notice for what?

I booked my time with them. We are now thinking of changing them. For the first major snowfall of the year they did not come out and clean up everything. They were slow, and it was disappointing for me. Their prices are good, though. I had some heater trouble during the first snowfall, and I called them. I wanted the walkway cleared so that I could get the heater repair man in, but they did not come out. I would not use them again.
