Terrible customer service and quality of service. Customer service team is very difficult to deal with and not responsive or helpful. Additionally they hit my house with a snow plow and we had to file for a claim that was thousands of dollars in repair.

On 12/23/2020, a plow from Green Horizons drove down our driveway and slipped off onto the lawn. We are NOT a customer, they were at the WRONG address. It was just after 8 PM with a fresh 4+” snowfall. The driver tried repeatedly to get back on the driveway, but just dug big ruts in our lawn and repeatedly backed into a small apple tree, breaking off branches and scraping off bark. A second plow arrived to help to no avail, maybe just putting bricks in the ruts. A third plow then arrived with a tow strap. By 9:45 the first plow was back on the drive and together they did plow most of my driveway. A gave them a card with my name, address and phone numbers and expected a call from a manager or owner. Nothing. On 12/24 I sent four or more pictures to CustomerService@GreenHorizons asking for a response. Nothing. On 12/26 I sent two more pictures asking the Owner by name to respond. Nothing. I called and asked for the owner, but he was not in. Asked for him to call me. Nothing. More requests on 01/01 and 01/04. Nothing. Complaints now filled with BBB. Probably will need to go to Small Claims Court for judgement. Can not imagine anyone hiring them !

I have used Green Horizons for lawn mowing service for 5 years now. I originally hired due to their pricing being lower than other companies quotes. I rationalized the lackluster mowing with the low price. I can't justify using them anymore, even with them being the lowest priced. The quality of work is poor and continually declining. They rarely do edging and often miss either strips of grass or do not do a whole section (i.e. my side yard). The guys that do the work are good guys, but are always in a rush to get out of there. They likely have too many jobs to do each day so try to get through them quickly, with quality suffering.

They came first and did the whole hill full of weeds for only 2 1/2 hours. I was not aware that they were here so I ask them to come back to weed around my house which only took them 1 1/2 hour. It was just fantastic. It was never been trimmed that good. They deserve a gold star.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. We used Green Horizon for a number of years always paying for snow removal in advance. Snow removal this year was poorly done. Also this year they hit our house and neighbor’s fence damaging both significantly. They have shown their true colors in not dealing, with the situation. Repeated attempts to contact them have results in no returned calls, not showing up, or when they did come out, an assertion that we probably caused the damage ourselves. Unreturned calls, poor service, and lies are not ways to retain a customer.

Strike Three - I have been a customer for over 15 years for snow and lawn services and the service has definitely declined. Service received for the April snowfall is the last straw for me. I had a pile of leaves in my yard after my fall cleanup for 5 days. The leaves were blowing all over the neighborhood and it took multiple emails and phone calls to get the pile removed. Second strike was when they completely missed plowing me out from a March snowstorm. It took 2 days to get my plowing completed. Again, after multiple emails and phone calls. It took until noon Monday to get plowed out from the Saturday/Sunday storm. And what made it worse was their non existent customer service. Their answer to heavy calls was a recorded message telling me they are not answering their phone. Something has changed with this company and after many years of good service they have now lost me as a client.

I am a Deluxe customer, meaning I pay over $130 a month during the winter months for them to plow my driveway and shovel my sidewalk. They are usually very late to show up (like 3:00am). The last storm we had started on a Saturday and they finally showed up to plow at 1:00pm on Monday! That’s over 48 hours after the storm started. I called several times, but since it was a weekend I couldn’t get through. They finally sent an email on Monday. The deluxe package is supposed to get us plowed more than once during each storm and whenever it snows more than an inch. That hasn’t happened this year. This is the second year we’ve used them and last year they were great. I don’t know what has happened, but I could not recommend them based on this years performance. I usually don’t write reviews, but I feel people should know that this company doesn’t come through. I hope it’s due to the fact that they have too many clients and have spread themselves too thin because they’ve lost this customer for sure.

Was a long-time customer of Green Horizons. Their workers are great. Customer Service is horrible. It continues to go downhill each season. Their billing practice is highly "imaginative". Magically a one hour job is expanded to a billing for three! No refunds. No communication. You would think a long-time customer would be treated with respect. Do not use this company. Especially, do not use any service from them at a hourly rate!
Description of Work: Small property. Just needed an additional fall cleanup. Contacted customer service. As stated on their website, price on their website is $99.00 per hour. Workers were finished within 30-45 minutes (I was home).

Everything went great. The two guys who cleaned my yard did a fantastic job! They worked so hard. My yard is quite difficult to work with and, again, the job done was excellent. The pricing was very good, especially compared with another company I got a quote from. The time from when I paid to getting the job done was only a couple days.

I've used Green Horizons for several years for lawn mowing, fall clean-up, fertilization, etc. Every year there's been a problem. Every year they manage to scalp my lawn after repeatedly asking them to raise the mow height. Every year they carelessly break some garden pot or mow over plants in my side-yards. This fall - after scalping my lawn to the dirt (again), they actually knocked over a six-foot arbor vitae in my back yard during fall clean-up. No notice or apology. I just walked out on my patio and saw the tree on its side right after they left and said to myself: that's it.

I hired Green Horizons for a fall cleanup and they did a great job. I then decided to hire them to do snow removal. Their service was beyond horrible. On different days they: didn’t show up. showed up after 8PM on the day AFTER a snowfall. left major areas on sidewalks and driveway un-shoveled. When I tried to cancel, I was told there was a 30-day notice period. I don’t understand why it would take 30 days to cross my name off a list but so be it. I appreciate that they did give me a good refund due to poor service but it still cost me over $75 for each lousy service. Would NOT recommend.

They offered fall cleanup deal for $179 but the day I called to hire them, the offer had suddenly disappeared from their website. I called to ask why, and the rep said the conditions were too wet outdoors and it would take too long to rake, so it wasn't worth their time (they wouldn't profit as much). So they decided to cancel all cleanup service. It was November, but they had advertised their deal to be valid through that date. Yes, I had left it late into the season, but that was because there were still leaves on my trees. It wasn’t like I was a first-time client, either; I had paid for their mowing ‘service’ for years. That service had often been poor, and I was tired of arguing over erroneous charges or credit for lawn DAMAGE their mowers had caused. So in retrospect, their callous response shiuld not have come as a complete surprise... It was just another example of their lousy service. Unfortunately, most other lawncare companies had already put away their lawn equipment by then, but one owner said his son was willing to do the work. It was a bit expensive, but I was glad to pay for the cleanup since I cannot do the work myself anymore. This happened in Nov. 2016. I’m grateful that there are SOME business owners who believe in helping people. Green Horizons is NOT such a company, however.

i've been a gh customer for years, and every year wonder why i still use them. answer? cost. but no more. i called customer service on monday, 11/14 [or the next day; i forget] to order their $179 flat-rate fall cleanup [leaves raked and removed]. 'mike' answered, and was immediately rude and belligerent, demanding that i place my order on their website. ok; fine!--i have an account already to pay for mowing service, so at least i wouldn't have to create a new acct. but my laptop keyboard happens to be broken at present so i wasn't thrilled with his response. [fortunately i figured out a workaround, but it's incredibly slow because i can only press 1 'key' at a time on a virtual keyboard on the desktop. which i'm doing now, hence no caps.] the weather up until then had been gorgeous--sunny, warm and dry, but i knew snow was forecast for the weekend, starting sat., 11/19. the info i'd read on their website stated that they were not going to commence cleanup until mon., 11/21, and i knew that they don't work weekends, so i simply asked--half-jokingly, to ratchet down the tension--if they wouldn't want to start a day or 2 earlier, given the weather forecast? ha-ha. that did not go over well, even though i had been polite. fair enough, i thought; it's their business, but i couldn't imagine anyone raking leaves once the snow started. which it did, right on schedule, up to thanksgiving and beyond, then turning to rain. for days. i got busy with thanksgiving plans--as do most americans to be fair--then christmas plans, and forgot about the leaves until yesterday, when i realized i had also forgotten to pay my mowing bill on their website, so i planned to order the fall clean-up after i paid my bill--but the info had disappeared from their website. i called cs again and simply asked where i was supposed to order, because the blurb had disappeared. once again mike answered, and immediately copped an attitude, smarmily saying that they had decided to rescind their flat rate because 'it was taking too long now that the leaves were wet.' well, yeah, that's what happens when it snows and rains, but i refrained from pointing out that it was their choice to waste weeks of gorgeous weather and delay clean-up until too late in the season. mike said 'they' [incl. him?] had decided to charge by the hour instead, because it takes longer to clean up wet leaves, etc. they conveniently decided to rescind the flat-rate price which they had publicized on their website all year every year, and in the flyer they had mailed to all their customers in early spring 2016. the flat rate cleanup svc was nothing new, btw; it was about the same price the year before, and the year before that. so as a result of their poor planning [and greed?, extending the mowing season 2 more weeks], they chose to bail on their customers and hike the cost at the 11th hour, leaving those customers like me, who had not ordered months in advance, my rationale being other bills, and the fact that their price had remained roughly the same every year. mike would not give me a new figure, though, not even a ballpark one [which another business did readily, today]. mike simply didn't want to help, just sat there smugly and left me in shock, then consternation. he could have apologized for their ginormous foul-up in scheduling, for leaving me [and who knows how many others] in the lurch; should have apologized for the last-minute price-hike, leaving me with no option but them because all the other businesses were done for the season. which he knew, hence the smug attitude. i don't know if it's just me mike had a problem with, or women in general, or gh customers, or just humankind in general, but clearly the guy is in the wrong job, and i want the owner to know, hence my writing this report. maybe i should have fought the last-minute switch, but i was so fed up with mike's obnoxious attitude that i hung up rather than spend one more minute talking with the arrogant son-of-a-gun. i figured that if i was going to have to pay by the hour anyway, i'd rather pay someone who respects the customer, at least doesn't snarl at them. so i proceeded to call 5-6 companies on angie's list today. but so far only 2 have ret'd my call. the first said 'sorry--too late' and basically 'chin up'--'the leaves are a natural fertilizer' [true]. i understand his position, because it *is* late in the season. the 2nd guy said they had already stored away their lawn equipment, too, but offered to haul it out again, at a cost. which he didn't have to do. i acknowledge that i bear some responsibility bec. i forgot to order the svc over thanksgiving, but then again, i have no way of knowing when gh actually pulled the flat-rate price from their website; it could have been the morning of my call, for all i know. they weren't planning to start until mon., 11/21, and 11/24 was thanksgiving, which i assume they had off. so it happened sometime within the last week, anyway. i don't know how much raking their crew could have actually gotten done, though, between the holiday and the precip all week. it's their right to charge whatever they want, but it's poor business practice to treat any customer, much less a long-time one, as shabbily as mike treated me. he was so belligerent that it was almost as if he was daring me to lose my cool, as hard as that is to believe; it felt like he was gloating over my misfortune. every year they have messed up in some way that has cost me, either gouging chunks of turf out of the front lawn [i don't know how that's even possible on a mostly flat lawn]; accidentally swinging the trimmer too close to the garage door trim one year, leaving all the slivers on the ground for me to find. not acknowledging the mistake to me or to mgmt, forcing me to waste over a year trying to get them to acknowledge that their guy did it, and to pay for replacing panel [which was fairly new]. they also managed to kill the grass every season on one side of the driveway, by shaving the grass too short where the ca. 6'' 'hill' starts to curve down to the driveway. simply reckless and sloppy; in such a hurry to leave that were barely there 5 min. then there is their strange billing, sending the invoice by surface mail one month, email the next, then by post again. when by email, you are required to pay on their website, which i worry is not as secure as it should be. all in all, a constant challenge and huge waste of time having to follow up, not worth the few bucks saved. so my conv. with mike was the nail in the coffin; i cannot put up with their 'service' any longer. and clearly i'm not alone, given the number of other customer complaints on angie's list. i would not have gone to the trouble of writing this report had mike not been so rude, but he was, and i want the owner to know. one would think that someone in customer service would strive to retain customers, and, at the very least, apologize for any attitude or loss of temper. i would have understood, because i've been known to lose mine too more than once. he could have apologized for their mismgmt in scheduling and the sudden jump in cost, maybe offer a compromise, to which i would have been amenable. i understand that surprises happen--but gh had to have known the weather forecast at least 10 days prior, and have the same schedule as in years past. the weather had been picture-perfect for weeks, through oct. and into nov., up to the 19th. they could have sent crews out anytime the last week of oct/first half of nov, by which time most of the leaves had fallen. all my neighbors had all raked their yards by the 2nd week of nov. because that's the last week the city picks up yard waste at the curb. i should mention that i'd love to still be able to do my own yard work, but i can't, not after being hit by 5 bad drivers [separately, not all together--ha] since moving to mn 10 yrs ago. i have no family nearby to help, so pay i must.
