+ -1 moreI have used them in past years and they did fairly well. This year they have been horrible. The snow quit on Saturday night and it is now Tuesday night and they have not cleared the snow. I have emailed them and they have not responded. I have called them and it just gives a generic message and does not let you leave a message. I have now not gotten mail on Monday or Tuesday because my sidewalk is not cleared. I am stuck as I do not have a snow blower and cannot shovel because of a bad back. I am cancelling my contract and will not ever use them again.
Description of Work: The company was hired on an ongoing contract to clear snow.

+ 0 moreFirst snow: They had to come back a second time because they didn't do the driveway. Second snow: We had 17" of snow. We shoveled small paths to get in and out of our house because they didn't come for a couple days. We made a narrow path in our front, right outside our back door and by our back gates. When they came on Monday, they did not shovel any of our front. I guess they thought our shoveling job was good enough. They should have shoveled the entire width of our sidewalk. They shoveled our back walk where we had not; but again, where we had shoveled a small path, they left it at that. They certainly did not want to complete where we had started. They only shoveled 3/4 of our driveway. They shoveled around our garbage bin but not our recycling bins. They removed the snow off the top of the recycling bins but the sides were all snowed in from the plows. Extremely disappointed in their service. If they charge us anything for this visit, we will not pay. No quality here whatsoever. We are cancelling our service with Green Horizons immediately and will not use them for our spring/summer lawn service any more either.
Description of Work: They have done our lawn mowing for years and did a good job, so we thought we would hire them this winter for snow removal. They were suppose to shovel our front walk, back walk and driveway.

+ -1 moreTheir service began great. The large storm they completly failed. With over 9% unemployment, they should hire a high amount of on-call drivers. Their driver fatigue and trucks failing are not the customers problem. Being stuck in your house because they couldn't plow you out when you pay for a "deluxe service" is the customers problem.
Description of Work: I pay for the deluxe monthly service with Green Horizons. I am well aware that we just had a major snow storm and their teams were fatigued and they had trucks that went down. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. However, I have been waiting for them to plow my drive way since Saturday. They plowed once late Friday morning and once around 9AM Saturday morning. On Sunday afternoon I sent this email: Do you have any ETA as to when your teams will be in the 50th and france area? My back alley/ garage is completely blocked in with snow. I know your teams are exhausted but will they be coming today? From Green Horizons immediate resonse: Unfortunately I don't have an ETA. The guys are working extremely hard to get to everyone as quickly as possible. We are hoping to have everyone plowed out by tomorrow morning at the latest. My reply - I thought Monday morning would be acceptable considering the amount of snow: Thank you! I know your guys are working extra hard and must be exhausted. Hang in there your teams do a great job. Today, Monday at 4PM they never showed up, or responded to an email I sent them on their website around 10AM. I sent the below and have yet to hear anything back: Do you have an ETA as to when my driveway, at minimum will be cleared out? I pay for the "deluxe Service" and I do not feel that this service is very deluxe. I understand the issues that you have had with the weather, fatigue of your employees, etc., but, this is now at the point of pure frustration. This will be the second note that I have sent your team today and I have not gotten a response. I need to leave my house tomorrow morning, I feel that your "deluxe service" customers should get some sort of a refund. My neighbor also has your service and it looks like her drive way was plowed and mine was not. I will be extreamly irritated if this was a miss on your teams part. Please advise as to when you will be here. I haven't heard anything. Prior to this massive storm they did a great job. The storm has been a complete let down with their service. I have been house bound since Friday night. I pay for the service because I do not have a snowblower and I have a bad back so I do not shovel. Regardless, I PAY them to take care of it for me. Very Frustrated. This will be my first, and if my driveway is not cleared by tomorrow morning, last year with Green Horizons.

+ -1 moreTheir service is terrible. I have been using them for three years and this will be the last. The are always late removing snow - the bigger the storm and the more you need them, the worse they are. With this last storm that produced significant snow on Fri and Sat, they are now saying they won't be able to clear our snow til Monday at least. Why do I pay them all this money every month? The service is anything but 'deluxe'.
Description of Work: We use green horizons for snow removal. We pay $133/month for 'deluxe' snow removal - they should come anytime it snows over half an inch.

+ -1 moreThey did not show up at all today, after 8" of snow. They've shown up late before, (they promise to show up within eight hours), but generally do a good job. When we finally tried to contact them, we discovered that you can't reach them by phone. Their voice mail system does not allow you to leave a message, not even the "customer service" department. We'll try sending an email, bit I'm not optimistic that it will get read. We'll be looking for a new snow removal service first thing Monday morning
Description of Work: We're signed up for seasonal snow removal at $85/month and have been for three years. They are to come whenever there is 1.5" of snow.

Description of Work: Green Horizons has provided my snow removal service for the past two years. They have done an amazing job! They remove the snow within 24 hours, usually sooner and then will come back and remove any snow left by the city after a snow emergency. Their prices were extremely competitive. Another snow removal service was asking twice the amount. I pay a monthly fee of $125 with a contract of 5 months from november to march.

+ -1 moreThey stuffed all of the leaves down the downspouts and didn't clean them out. I called this company and informed them that my downspouts were full of leaves. They sent someone out the next day to take care of this work. What wasn't known is that I have a drain tile that has a pop up valve and was full of leaves so this wasn't taken care.

+ -1 moreOn June 18, 2010 a grass fertilization was performed at my residence. Within two days of the fertilization my grass began to turn brown in the corners of the property. On June 21st I called the Green Horizon office to complain and was told a supervisor would come evaluate the property to determine if it had been fertilization burn or some other cause. On July 19, 2010 I received an email from the supervisor who evaluated the property , in response to a complaint I had made in June regarding the fertilization treatment of our grass. It took almost a month to receive a response from my initial complaint which stated that he did not find any signs of fertilizer burn. This was three weeks after I had called, and my lawn (which had previously been green and lush) was the only one on the block that was “crispy” with several dead, brown patches of grass. After receiving the enclosed e-mail, I called the Green Horizon offices and spoke to someone who questioned me extensively and told me another supervisor would be sent out to the property to look at the grass and make a determination. I told this man that I wished to cancel all future treatments and did not expect to be charged for the June treatment. In early August, while I was home, another Green Horizons fertilization treatment was performed at my residence. Upon finding the sign in my yard I immediately called the offices again and was told once again that someone would have to come out to look at the yard to determine the cause. I was told that I would not be charged for the August treatment and that the company would send out one of the fertilizer representatives to look at our yard. On August 12, 2010, I received a past due notice from GH for the June fertilization treatment. I cannot tell you how astounded I was at the horrible customer service that I received and the complete lack of communication taking place within that company. Two years ago, we used Chem-Lawn and they bent over backwards to ensure that we were completely satisfied with the services we received. Our lawn is by far the ugliest on our block with the huge patches of dead grass, which begin and end at our property lines.

Price has remained consistently good, though I haven't compared other services recently. Don't think they have missed a week in all the time I've used them.

They are in and out in about fifteen minutes for the lawn mow, and I've never even seen them do the weed control but I know they've been there. Occasionally I've had weed issues but give them a call and they come right out and take care of it.

+ -1 moreIt started with them not plowing my drive full width. They have left 2+ feet unplowed on each side. They pushed piles of snow in front of my trailer so I couldn't get it out. They only shoveled the sidewalk one shovel width. They shoveled the snow on top of my bushes. I had to repeatedly call them back to fix these things every snow fall. Now today 2/9/10 they have not shown up at all and I'm late for work sitting here waiting for them to clear the 8 inches of snow that they failed to clear yesterday. Very poor mexican quality workmanship and unreliable. I will not hire them again. Sadest part is that the manager tells me he has his best man on my job.

+ -1 moreI have been using them for a number of years. They are usually here quickly after a storm. Their price depends on the depth of the snow. If there is really deep snow the price would go up accordingly. They are quick and thorough. They do a nice job and are in and out of here quickly. They do exactly what I want. I have had some problems with others in the past, but Green Horizons is fine. I don’t think they are expensive at all. Sometimes they are not as easy as we would like them to be. I think the crew is all Hispanic.

+ -1 moreWe’ve also had all of our landscaping redone by them. They come on time and do exactly what they say they are going to do. Some of the sod they laid didn’t take so they came over again to redo it. We have a pretty big lawn. They come over twice to do the fall clean-up where they clean up all the leaves and everything. They never increased their prices even after the spike in gas prices last year. We’ve been using them since 2006 and are very, very happy with them.

+ -1 moreI called Green Horizons at the suggestion of a coworker. Within a couple of days I received an estimate and follow up phone call for a fall leaf removal. The estimate which was left behing, also included a customer ID that allowed you to log on to Green Horizons website to schedule services. Very slick. The estimator originally thought they might be able to complete the work the week of Thanksgiving, but was done the week before. The lawn looks great and the price seemed very reasonable.

+ 1 moreI'm very disappointed in the service I've received this summer and past winter from Green Horizons. They came this winter to plow snow, and we opted for the premium service. They did not come early in the morning on the heavy snow days and they've consistently not plowed our driveway down to the pavement, nor did they shovel my sidewalks down to the pavement as requested. The mowing this summer has also been dismal, as they've repeatedly missed parts of my grass ( the boulevard and a small bit of side yard), I've called them to complain on a number of occaisions and only recently did they rectify this problem, and also I'm not satisfied with their fertilization service. I still have weeds in my yard (and not just grassy ones as they suggest when I call). After repeated phone calls they are still underperforming. I have waited now for a week and a half on a service call from a "supervisor" who still hasn't returned any of the three calls I've put in.
Description of Work: I use Green Horizons to cut my grass weekly, regular fertilization/weed control, and snow removal in the winter.

+ -1 moreMy goal was to keep the cost to a minimum and have someone trim 2 shrubs that were too high for me to reach. I could easily do the clean up. I stated this to Green Horizons when I scheduled saying that I thought the 1 hour should be enough time to trim 2 shrubs. I was quoted a price of "$75 per labor hour; $49 each hour after". I therefore expected someone to come and trim for one hour. Two workmen arrived. However, both spoke minimal English and it was difficult to communicate to them I wanted to keep the work to 1 hour so trim first and then clean up only if there was time. It was also very difficult to explain how I wanted the shrubs trimmed. I had to actually pantomime what I wanted. I am okay that someone may not be fluent in English, but at least one worker should be able to communicate better with the customer. I was not confident I was going to get what I wanted done. I called Green Horizons, but it was early morning and the office was closed so I communicated the best I could. I watched the time closely and at about 50 minutes I indicated to confirm we had 10 minutes left. He said "you pay 1 hour?". Then pointed to himself and said 30 minutes and to the other guy and said 30 minutes to equal 1 hour. So to my surprise, now I was already paying for 2 hours, but certainly did not get 2 hours of work. The one guy spent most of the time watching the other guy trim and waiting to pick up the branches or simply move the ladder for him. I immediately called Green Horizons, but was told I'm the only person who has ever not understood the price quote as indicating per person. (I asked a few people and they understood the same as I had.) There was no attempt to reconcile the misunderstanding. The shrubs did get trimmed okay, although I had to watch and coach them the whole time. And they did arrive on time, since I was the first appointment of the day. But, I want other potential customers to realize that if Green Horizons chose to send 4 workers, they would actually be there for 15 minutes for your 1 hour of work... and hopefully each be doing a full 15 minutes of work. Due to this bad experience, I will likely not renew my lawn fertilizing contract with them next year.

+ -1 moreThe service was lousy. The first mowing came later than verbally stated, on a Friday instead of "early in the week". There were some toys on the lawn which I'm sure annoyed the mower. Instead of setting them on a paved surface, he threw them in and behind our bushes along the side of the house. For the second mowing, they arrived on Monday, when the grass was so short you couldn't see where they were even mowing, so after a few minutes of mowing I told the mower we don't need it, come back next week. Sadly, the company counted that as one of the three mows and didn't come back after the following mow. I explained that to the service rep, and he politely agreed to add another mow. I only requested that they not come the next day because an outdoor party was planned. He agreed...and yet, they never came that entire week. So I called again to remind them that we still should get another mow, and he agreed again...and yet, they never came back this week. So I call this morning, Friday July 3 and of course they are closed and my grass is two weeks unmowed.
