David is an exceptionally professional, thoughtful, and incredibly helpful individual who went the extra mile in every aspect of servicing our fireplace. When I initially called David, he encouraged me to try a few things on my own to see if I could get the pilot light started, clean the glass, etc., and he explained very clearly how to do things and what to try. His fee for the service was half of what others quoted, and he provided thorough, high-quality work. He is trustworthy and prompt, and I would highly recommend David to anyone.

Dave is fantastic. Had to order the valve, and on the second visit he not only fixed it, but by the time he left, he had restored it to look like a new unit! He also corrected several installation errors, so the unit preforms better than ever.

We were very pleased with the service. He showed up on time and fixed our gas fireplace problem. He completely explained what was going on and showed us what parts were bad and why. We would definitely recommend him.

I made the mistake of waiting for the first cold weather to call and fix my fireplace. Obviously I was one of many and it made it very hard to find a repair service. I called the Fireplace Doctor and the earliest appointment they had was almost a month out. The nice women on the phone made the appointment for me, but said if something came up or someone canceled she would give me a call. 3 days later my fireplace was working perfectly and cleaned spotless! He even changed the batteries in my fireplace remote. They are very competitively priced and service is superb! I would highly recommend to anyone

This is the second time we've had "Dr. Dave" clean and fix 2 gas fireplaces (at 2 different properties). We would not use anyone else when our fireplaces are "ailing"! Dr. Dave is simply the best at what he does! He quickly assesses any existing problems, provides solutions, then promptly corrects all issues. Both gas fireplaces look like new, and function better than ever. Dr. Dave is punctual, honest, very proficient, affordable, and a delight to work with. In the next month or 2, we will have him look at a gas fireplace as well as a traditional wood burning fireplace and make all necessary corrections so we can begin using them in our older home which we are remodeling. I cannot thank Dr. Dave (and Nurse Nancy) enough for their great services and would "very highly" recommend them to anyone who has a fireplace that needs cleaning and/or repairs. You won't find anyone better! We look forward to doing business with them again very soon!

Gas Fireplace was difficult to keep lit since new. Over last 15 years, operation became progressively worse, until would not light at all. Dealer non-responsive to calls for service. Found Fireplace doctor on Angies List.. had to book appointment well ahead. Fireplace doctor found source of problem right away and corrected an minor installation problem that had been there from day one. Cleaned fireplace. It has never worked as well as it does today. Such a huge improvement. I wish I had called him 10 years ago and never messed with the dealer. Recommend.

He was great and was definitely an expert in gas fireplaces. The work they did turned out really good. He actually went beyond, I would say too.

Called with a problem with the fireplace in our new house... I had turned the pilot off this summer and couldn't get it to work again this winter. In less than 5 minutes, they walked me through troubleshooting it on the phone and making sure it worked entirely as it needs to... . They were incredibly knowledgable, super helpful and thorough, and very kind. Will DEFINITELY call them when it's time to install a blower and do a tune-up this spring. THANK YOU!!!!!

I started to hear a buzzing sound coming from my two year old gas insert this fall. I called Dave and he spent about an hour looking at the unit to diagnose the problem, eventually deciding it was a blower issue. Because he did not have the parts needed to fix the insert we had to reschedule the repair. However, he did not charge me at all for coming out to look at the fireplace. He also coordinated with the original installer and was able to get the insert company to provide the parts and labor for free, even though the particular part was no longer within the warranty. He came out on the scheduled repair day on time and replaced the blowers. Even though this repair cost me nothing, I would definitely call him for any future repair/maintenance.

It went fantastic! Dr. Dave really knows his stuff. We were very disappointed with our outdoor gas fireplace put in by another vendor and have never been happy with the way it functioned. Dave studied the situation and made recommendations. We are ecstatic with how it works now. He even took extra time to arrange the ceramic logs for the best look. He is quite the perfectionist. On the same day, he had three other fireplaces in our home to work on. He relentlessly continued on and got it all done - I am sure he missed dinner that day. We were so pleased he finished and didn't just bail for another day as many contractors would have done. We recommend Dave without hesitation! Hire him to work on your gas fireplace devices. Fantastic! Dr. Dave did a very thorough job. Not only did he clean the fireplaces inside and out, but he also touched up the paint as well. Gave us an update on the condition and told us things to look for, but never pressured us into anything beyond that. Extremely professional and personable. My wife and I were sitting with the fireplace running when she made the comment we now realize how dirty it was. It looks great. Will never use anyone else when it comes to our fireplaces.

Dave was excellent! He showed up on time (even a little early). He is very personable and engaging. He asked questions about the fireplace and any problems we were having. He checked it over thoroughly, cleaned everything really well, replaced a noise blower motor, explained how everything works, and let us know what issues we may expect in the future. He was really good about taking off his shoes and laying down a heavy tarp to keep the carpet clean. I would highly recommend this provider.

He even touched up the paint so both fireplaces looked like new. His price was reasonable, especially for the amount of time he spent making sure everything was right. I've got a older heat n glow fireplace. We're new to house (2 years) and our gas fireplace pilot light wouldn't stay lit. Dr.Dave showed up right on time and got to work. I expected him to clean the pilot and be on his way. Instead he completely cleaned and serviced the fireplace. He scraped rust off the metal work, he fixed a couple logs that were broken, repainted the backing and cleaned the glass. So not only does the fireplace work functionally but the 14 year old thing looks almost new! I can't recommend him enough, his business is a real find.

He immediately determined the reason air was coming into the room. When I had tried to clean the inside of the fireplace a few years ago, I had not put the glass and other outside parts back right causing air to come into the room. He took the fireplace apart cleaned and made sure all the working parts were functioning properly. Because I had not had the pilot light on for some time there were some minor rust spots that he took care of. He spray painted the entire fire box so that it looks like new. The logs were not laid out properly so he cleaned them and positioned them correctly. He told me how to clean it myself and how to put the glass back so it sealed. Took a few minutes to light pilot on another fireplace and got the remote to working. I highly recommend him and would use him again. Easy to work with.

We bought our house 9 1/2 years ago, and the two-sided gas fireplace in the living room and dining room never worked. I have had a number of gas fireplace folks out to look at it over the years. The gas company person said "that's not a gas fireplace. We don't work on that." It was news to me that it wasn't a gas fireplace, since it's quite obviously a fireplace and there's a gas line coming to it. A couple of fireplace folks said I would need to buy an insert from them, but I would lose the two sided feature (which I love), and would have to brick up one side or the other. Finally one fireplace person told me that what I have is called a "gas log set", and he couldn't make mine work, but he could sell me a new set for a couple thousand dollars. So now that I knew I had a "gas log set", I searched on Angie's List for someone who could repair mine. I found the Fireplace Doctor, and I'm so happy that I did! He said I just needed a $25 part called a thermo-couple, which he replaced for me, and now I can use my fireplace and enjoy the ambiance in both rooms. I would recommend the Fireplace Doctor to everyone with a gas fireplace. Call him!

He was great. Genuinely. Knew his stuff. He knew that the newer models of our fireplace had recognized the same issue we were having and he moved the box that was measuring temperature. Rather than requiring us to purchase a new unit (which was a bit melted looking) he replaced the cover with one that he had. He is extremely busy, so you will have to wait to get serviced...but it's worth the wait. We used our Home Service Plus from Centerpoint Energy to fix the same problem. They sent out a technician that could barely take the glass off the front. He simply cleaned it and said it was going to be good to go...as it was the best he could do. We have cancelled our Home Service Plus after this...simply calling a specialist saves an enormous amount of money and time. Highly recommend the Fireplace Doctor.

They are very knowledgeable and straight forward for what i needed to be done. They did not hustle me for off charges. I had a simple project and they gave me a simple price. Dave, the owner knew exactly what i needed, he did quick excellent work and he was very responsive. The overall experience was excellent.

We were concerned about one of the fireplaces because the pilot light had been burning with quite a large yellow flame that seemed to be getting larger over the past months - this prompted our call to Dr. Dave. Scheduling the appointment was quick and easy. Dr Dave got hung up in traffic on the way to my home for the appointment, but he called promptly to let me know what happened and when he would arrive. When he arrived, he handled our 2 barking dogs extremely well - they became quick friends, and Dave was very careful going in & out with his tools to make sure the dogs didn't make a run for it. He cleaned and did routine maintenance on 2 gas fireplace inserts that had been neglected for years. Not only did he clean them out and check to make sure everything was in good working order, he even touched up some of the paint for us. The fireplaces haven't been this clean and looked this good since the day they were installed! In addition to the regular maintenance, he made sure I knew how to take the glass off to clean it and how to make adjustments to ensure the fireplaces would continue in good working order for many years to come.
