Response from ERICKSON PLUMBING HEATING COOLING INC/ERICKSON PLU
Our company was contracted by Artisan Design to do the work at this client's home. We did not have a contract directly with the Member, nor did our company walk off the job. The general contractor did yet we stayed and finished our installations, working with the Member to complete the job. Our company made the Member aware of the State Contractor Recovery Fund, which they did pursue against Artisan Design. Erickson Plumbing and Heating pursued legal action against Artisan Design to collect for the work we had not been paid for. The Member's project was completed, permits were signed and a satisfaction of lien was provided. Involving the legal case encompassing this project, there was no admission of liability and the settlement was a compromise of disputed claims. The total value of the work completed by our company at the Member home was $20,187.89, not $30,000. Our company was not the electrical contractor on site, there was another company hired to do that work. As the process was quite frustrating for us, being a subcontractor for a non-performing general contractor we can empathize with the Member. However, we did fulfill our obligation to them and committed to getting the work done even though our direct customer had walked away from their job. There were various issues along the way that held up the construction process, one example being selection of plumbing fixtures. We do possess several email conversations between ourselves and Member regarding the work and completing the work, selection of different fixtures and the like. Most are from early 2007, going into February . None of them indicate that Member was displeased with the work we were doing or indicate any other issues with our company or our employees. We take our reputation very seriously and great pride in the work that we do. I can only conclude by saying that the report posted relating to the work done at the Member simply is not accurate. We worked with them in an ugly situation for everyone involved, when we could have just as well cut our losses and walked away. When reading this review, it seems as if our company was the one in default who walked off of the job and left the customer hanging. As explained above, that is not the case. A general contractor involved did make a difficult situation for all involved on the job, including the homeowner. Also noted, the job took place 6 years ago and at the time of completion the Orfields did not indicate that they were unhappy with the work done by our company. Please review our body of work and the reviews by other members. Our number one priority is always to do a complete, quality job and leave whomever our customer is satisfied.

Everything went smoothly, from my initial phone call to the end of the work. They were very upfront with me about cost for the system and figured out a creative way to install it given my house and property line. I was really pleased with how fast they got the work done (just two days).
Description of Work: We had a a bit of a problem to solve in our upstairs area. A detailed energy audit suggested installing a mini-split system of an air conditioner and heat pump to keep the temperature more comfortable. There are not a lot of places in town that can install this (that I could find) and Erickson's came well-recommended.

Ron Erickson provided lots of useful information about efficient heating options, and gave me a bid that was dramatically cheaper than the alternatives. The installation process was perfectly smooth with on-time arrivals and prompt completion.
Description of Work: Erickson installed a 105,000 BTU high-efficiency boiler and in indirect-fired water heater and hauled away my previous boiler and water heater.

They came out to look at the problem and determined it was a clogged drainage line. They were very nice and explained the situation to us. We were about to leave town so they came out earlier than they originally planned. They even called back several days later to see if we were satisfied with the service.
Description of Work: They did the original installation of our air conditioning unit a few years ago. The unit was leaking and they came out to repair it.

The electrician seemed confident but after spending $175 to put a ground wire on a motor seems quite EXPENSIVE. SYSTEM ONLY LASTED 8 DAYS. They want to charge me $75.00 for a new motor. They WILL NOT wire new motor, WILL NOT install a switch, and will not sell me a switch. I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND ERICKSON AT ALL.
Description of Work: I have an exhaust system installed by ERICKSON. Work was for the (MAC) sound insulation program. That work was completed 5-24-04. The fan & motor is guaranteed 5 yrs. The switch quit operating November 2007 I called ERICKSON & asked if they would fix it. I was told the fan & motors have NEVER failed. It was suggested that I should replace the switch. I did at a cost of $114.00. I wired it myself that switch lasted 3 days. I sent it back to the factory the factory sent me a new switch then I called ERICKSON to install the new switch & trouble shoot. An electrician came and said nothing was wrong with the motor but he installed a new ground wire & new switch at $175.00 for that. It lasted 8 days they gave me a 90 day warranty for parts & labor. So I called & asked them to come & fix the problem I was told they would CHARGE me for another service call??? APPARENTLY, I have more problems. WHY WASN'T PROBLEM DIAGNOSED ON 1st service call?

FIRST AND FOREMOST, WE'RE SORRY THE MEMBER IS UNHAPPY WITH OUR SERVICES. HE CALLED US REGARDING THE SWITCH FOR HIS FAN, THE SWITCH CARRIES A MANUFACTURER WARRANTY OF ONE YEAR. APPARENTLY HIS HAD FAILED, WE GAVE HIM A PRICE ON PURCHASING A NEW SWITCH FROM US OR INSTALLING ONE. HE DID NOT LIKE EITHER OF THE CHOICES AND INSTEAD GOT ONE AND INSTALLED IT ON HIS OWN. THIS DIDN'T SOLVE THE ISSUE SO HE CALLED US BACK YET AGAIN. AT THIS POINT THERE HAD ALREADY BEEN PROBABLY 3 HOURS PUT IN TO MAKING PHONE CALLS TO THE VARIOUS REPS AND MANUFACTURERS IN AN ATTEMPT TO HELP THE MEMBER RESOLVE THE ISSUE. HIS CREDIT CARD WAS CHARGED $255.00 AND REFUNDED $75.00 OF THAT BASED ON THE WORK THAT WE DID PERFORM. I WOULD CHALLENGE ANGIE'S LIST EMPLOYEES TO PROPERLY DO THEIR JOBS AND ENSURE THAT COMPANIES GIVEN RATINGS ON THIS SITE TO NOT RECEIVE THEM MALICIOUSLY. THE MEMBER WAS UNHAPPY BECAUSE WE TOLD HIM THE FAN IS OPERATING THE WAY IT SHOULD. WE CHECKED AMPERAGE RATINGS AND THEY WERE FINE. HE INSISTED THAT WE SHOULD INSTALL A NEW FAN AT NO COST TO HIM. WE DID NOT DO SO, BECAUSE THE FAN IS NOT FAULTY. THE SWITCHES INSTALLED WITH THESE FANS HAVE HAD ISSUES AND THE COMPANY WHO MAKES THEM WILL NOT ADMIT TO IT. THE ORIGINAL WORK DONE WAS CONTRACTED BY A GENERAL CONTRACTOR, NOT THE MEMBER. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME WE HAVE DONE WORK FOR HIM AND IF WE CAN HELP IT, IT WILL BE THE LAST. ANGIE'S LIST RESPONSE TO NEGATIVE RATINGS IS TO SIGN UP MORE OF OUR CUSTOMERS TO GET POSITIVE ONES.

They were very receptive to the urgency and found time to do the installation the same day since we had no hot water. Jason was very professional and checked in to ask about replacing the valve and cutting some drywall. He also explained how to adjust the new water heater and light the pilot. Erickson provides great service.

They looked up my MAC number, took the information and said someone would call me back. They never returned my call.
Description of Work: I have a continuously operating low volume exhaust fan that was installed ten years ago as part of the airport sound insulation program. I did not own the house at the time, but do have the original paperwork. I called Erickson, who was one of the contractors involved in the program at that time to either repair or replace the fan because it was getting very noisy.

They showed up on time and the estimator stated that he understood what I was looking for. Informed him that a permit was already pulled and the estimator stated that it should be a simple and inexpensive job. He stated that he would have to get me an offical quote but he said it would be 600-700 for the bathroom vent (the fan was already purchased) and the 2 bedrooms. 2 1/2 weeks later the quote was emailed to me at 1350.00 with the vent fan and permit included in the price. I called the office to see if this was an error but no one returned my call. Either their estimator is an idiot or that was how much profit they thought they could suck out of me. I will not use these people for any work ever.

SERVICE TECHNICIAN DOUG ARRIVED RIGHT ON TIME. HE CLEANED THE BURNERS ON MY 40 YEAR OLD BOILER AND TOLD ME AS LONG AS I HAD IT TUNED UP EVERY YEAR, IT COULD GO ON AND ON. THEN HE DISCOVERED A VALVE WASN'T WORKING CORRECTLY, THEN EXPLAINED THE PROS AND CONS OF REPLACING THE VALVE, AND HOW LONG IT WOULD BE UNTIL IT COULD BE DONE AND APPROXIMATELY WHAT THE COST WOULD BE. WHEN I DECIDED TO GO AHEAD WITH THE REPAIR, HE SAID HIS OFFICE WOULD CALL TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT WHICH THEY DID WITHIN LESS THAN AN HOUR. I EXPECT THE REPAIR TO GO JUST AS SMOOTHLY.

RON'S EMPLOYEES STARTED ON TIME DAILY. I WOULD WALK DOWNSTAIRS AT 7:15 AM AND THEY WOULD BE SITTING OUTSIDE IN THE COLD IN THEIR CAR(S), WAITING FOR 7:30 TO ROLL AROUND. THEY WERE ALMOST OBSESSIVELY NEAT, LAID TARPS ON ALL MY HARDWOOD FLOOR AND CARPETS. (I LOVED IT.) WORKMEN COMMUNICATED WITH ME DAILY. I ALWAYS KNEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING NEXT. THE TRANSITION FROM ONE CREW TO ANOTHER WAS NEAT AND EFFICIENT. VENTS ARE UNOBTRUSIVE. THEY EVEN SNAKED AN UPSTAIRS VENT THROUGH EXISTING CHIMNEY SPACE. THE VENTS RUNNING THROUGH MY BASEMENT ARE A WORK OF ART. INSTEAD OF THE USUAL: OLD HOUSES (MINE BUILT IN 1885) HAVE CHALLENGES AND THIS IS AWFUL ROUTINE THAT I GET, RON'S PEOPLE SHOWED ENTHUSIASM FOR THE CHALLENGE AND TOLD ME THEY LOVED WORKING ON OLD HOMES, BECAUSE THEY WERE SO INTERESTING. ALL INSPECTIONS HAVE BEEN DONE. ONE OUTLET WAS NOT ACTIVE. (PER CODE IT DID NOT NEED TO BE.) I ASKED ERICKSON'S IF THEY WOULD COME OUT AND FIX IT AND THEY DID AT NO CHARGE. I AM VERY SATISFIED.

THE CONTRACT WAS CLEAR AND OPTIONS WERE WELL COVERED. I HAD 5 OTHER CONTRACTORS IN MY HOME. ONE WANTED 12,000.00 MORE THAN RON. ONE SAID THAT THE HOUSE COULDN'T BE CENTRALLY AIR CONDITIONED. ONE HAD A PLAN THAT REQUIRED A MAZE OF DUCTS BREAKING THROUGH EVERY CORNER OF MY HOME; DUCTING SNAKING THROUGH MY BASEMENT. RON'S PLAN WAS EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE. HE HAS DONE MANY OF THE HOMES THAT WERE RETROFITTED WITH AIR CONDITIONING DURING THE AIRPORT PROJECT, AND IS VERY GOOD WORKING WITH OLDER HOMES,
