I've called Dave twice now (a week apart) and left him a message about some renovation work, but have not heard back. I was hoping to get several days worth of his contractor for a day deal. People say he does good work, but I can't review him on his craftsmanship if he doesn't even return calls.

Dave is a pleasure to work with. He was able to understand what I was aiming to accomplish and drafted a design from that. His team is very prompt and professional. Great to work with. The best workmanship of all was from the carpenter. My walls are not straight, rooms are not square as the house is 113 years old. The trim we put in is very intricate and as such this was a highly unusual job. His attention detail made the outcome great.... The complexities of my job is really what led this job to cost more than it would have if a newer home and average/everyday woodwork was being installed.
Description of Work: Tore off old plaster on a wall, rebuilt the wall opening into an archway. Removed balance of old woodwork on main level of home and replaced with new. Replaced multiple ceiling fans and light fixtures. Put in new outlets and updated old electrical plug in outlets.

Called and left a mesage. He responded and we set up an appointment for him to look at our basement. When he arrived we went to the basement and I described what I felt needed to be done. He listened, asked questions and provided additional suggestions. I then left him to take pictures and measurements. A week after he was here, he e-mailed me his design ideas and a rough estimate of total costs. I suggested we start with a somewhat reduced project and am waiting for cost estimates for that revised plan.
Description of Work: Provided drawings, proposed changes, pictures of before and after and cost estimates. Listened to what I wanted to accomplish and responded well with his proposal. Prposed costs for completing the project were somewhat beyond my budget and we are working on a scaled back proposal. Very easy to work with and a good communicator.

We purchased an Angie's List coupon explicitly to replace two exterior french doors. Before we purchased the coupon, we called and spoke with Kevin to ensure the coupon (8 hours for 1 worker, 4 hours for 2) would cover the work. Kevin was helpful, flexible and responsive, and we scheduled the work. In short, the company was wonderful to work with throughout the process. They were meticulous, conscientious, and professional. Bill and Kevin showed up in time, and quickly went to work. The first door went in without issue. Prior to install of the second one, the door slipped and fell, cracking the door jam. Kevin and Bill took full accountability for the accident and quickly ordered the replacement. They put the door in temporarily so it was usable, and returned to finish the job a few weeks later as soon as the new piece was delivered. Although the work took longer than the coupon covered, Kevin did not charge us above the value of the coupon. We were impressed not just with the work , but the way in which we handled the issue with the door jam damage. Other companies might have tried to avoid accountability or inflate the installation cost, but not Edgework Builders. Without hesitation, we will use Edgework Builders again, and will recommend them to friends.
Description of Work: Replacement of two old exterior French doors for energy efficient ones, including taking out the old ones, putting in new ones, and finish work with trim.

We initially had a little trouble connecting, and they missed an appointment with us, but once we connected, everything was completed quickly. They explained that the water damage we were seeing was in part a result of the gutters being hung incorrectly in relationship to our eves, and they rehung them correctly after the painting was completed.

I think it would have gone well had I gone ahead with the project, however the lack of promised follow-up on their part was disappointing.
Description of Work: I purchased their Big Deal to get some kitchen cabinets moved around. I sent them an email with photos and they called promptly to discuss the project. One of their workers was to call me the next week, which never happened. However, I wound up cancelling the project for unrelated reasons, so I didn't pursue getting it done either. In the phone call the person did say that they were getting a lot of traffic from the deal and were going to be very busy.

Showed up when they said he would. Went over the long list of things I needed done, and choose which he would have time for. Didn't finish mudding and said he would get back to me with an estimate, however I never heard from them and have since had a family member finish.

We purchased the general contractor for the day. I had a long list of "to dos" and they did get them all done. Unfortunately, my husband had to redo the ceiling fan, but he commented he didn't think it was their fault as it was more the quality of the fan, so he had to make some adjustments.

TERRIFIC! Again, I have reviewed Edgework in the past and have given my full story. They are terrific and wonderful to work with. If you don't hire them you are not hiring the best.
Description of Work: I have reviewed Edgework builders twice. Once for our Master bath remodel and again for our Basement remodel. Dave and Kevin and the people they hire to do the work are fantastic. Everything they did came out better than we could have hoped for. They kept pretty much on schedule and always kept us informed. I have other things that I need to have done to our home and they will be called on again without hesitation. The mater bath remodel involved gutting the original space, removing an oversized stall shower and replacing it with a new jet tub and shower stall. Electricity was re-ran throughout the project to accommodate the tub, overhead light and heated floor (new). The basement was a complete remodel, again gutted to the studs, new ceiling, reconfigured the space, put up fake walls, etc. Our basement rocks.

Dave came to my house to look at the work that I needed done. He recommended a good local company where I could order a new pre-hung door. Once the door was delivered to my house, I was able to schedule the installation. The new door was installed yesterday and I am very pleased with how everything went.

I had purchased a coupon, wherein I received 1/2 day labor for a flat fee. We needed a vent and enclosure reattached to the ceiling of our lower level ceiling. It took several weeks to finally get someone out, due to the heavy volume of coupons purchased, but once they did they came out and estimated the work right on time, then set up an appointment for the work to be done after several more weeks. They were prompt for all appointments, courteous and friendly. The guy did an excellent job and the vent not only looks good again, but works better than it ever had. My comment that the price was only "fair" revolves around the fact that it only took about an hour to do, so the 1/2 of labor really wasn't a bargain. Otherwise, I would definitely hire them again, I feel they are easy to work with and seem to possess a high level of knowledge and skill.
Description of Work: I had purchased a coupon, wherein I received 1/2 day labor for a flat fee. We needed a vent and enclosure reattached to the ceiling of our lower level ceiling, as it was sagging down and pulling away from the ceiling. The vent was reattached, the enclosed nailed back together and now looks great.

We recently purchased our home. The only laundry area was in the basement. We wanted to make our new home friendly for growing older. We had a laundry room installed on first floor in a large closet. This was one of the best investments in our home. The owner of the company came out, listened to our needs and then built this wonderful laundry room. We now have a dryer, washer, and utility sink that is within easy access. The workers were very professional, pleasant and extremely helpful.

Our experience with Dave has been great.
Description of Work: Dave met with us several times to discuss our potential project. Dave has provided us with a project design and provided us with a thorough estimate in a much shorter timeframe than other contractors. He was very responsive, even when we were thinking of doing a smaller scale project. He accommodated our schedule and met with us several times over the weekend, something that other contractors absolutely will not do for their clients. Our experience with Dave has been a pleasure, especially compared to some of the non-responsive contractors we had previously worked with. We have not engaged Dave for the project because we are still in the decision-making process, but our experience up to this point has been great.

Before I purchased all three days of the deal I phoned to see what they thought of how long it would take to perform the services and said I was considering buying 3 days. The call was returned very timely and a few days later a person even stopped out to look at the work and confirmed that 3 days was a good number. I had scheduling issues so I needed it scheduled kind of far into the future, I think it was about six weeks from when I purchased the deal. The contractor took pictures and we discussed what he'd bring (and add to the bill) and what, if anything I needed to do/buy. When finally the date came for him to show up there seemed to be confusion. The deal I bought specifically said the equivalent of 3-eight hour days and while he was here three days, two of them were for not quite four. The jobs were done and I was very glad to have hired a professional as the tiling turned into something way more complicated than I could have handled. The deck turned out nice too. But at the end of the day I finally questioned him about the 3rd day. He'd forgotten it was 3 days and thought it was 2 so he'd scheduled other things to be doing on the two half days. He asked if I had any other jobs that needed to be done, but because he was so tightly scheduled he couldn't look at them or do them that day. I did have a few more things around the house so I called and left him a message about what needed fixing. He was relatively prompt in returning my call and we scheduled another date for these repairs. This time a different guy came out, he too was very efficient, and was able to fix my problems in about two hours. It's hard, I hate to complain about them being efficient, but I feel like if I'd been given accurate representation of how much time things would take I could have either purchased one less day or I could have really considered more things to be worked on. I also understand that there has to be wiggle room built in, you never know what you'll find once you start getting into it. The work also was all done very well, so again I don't want to complain about quality, but it was just such an odd experience and an odd scheduling experience that I will look elsewhere if/when the need arises again.

Dave (the owner) came to my house to review the work to be done to provide an estimate. He showed up at my house July 10, and reviewed the work to be done, provided grandiose ideas and took pictures. He committed to providing an estimate the following Monday, July 16. Today is July 23, and I still have not gotten an estimate from him. I am sure this isn't the case of his email sitting in the Outbox, but never being sent, and I check my Spam Folders regularly. He simply didn't want to provide services, so he chose to not provide an estimate without any indication that he didn't want to take on the work (which I would have been totally fine with). I received a call midday on July 10th, and agreed to meet the homeowner that same day, at his convenience. I was punctual for the meeting, and took inventory of the homeowner's wishes. I do not have the same recollection of committing to a response within a week, and did not document that in my notes. We have pride that our company provides our clients with the best experience possible (both design and execution), as evidenced by the reviews from customers that we have done work with. I regret the misunderstanding with this client. What I will commit to all future contacts is a better understanding of expectations and timing.

We were most impressed with Dave (owner) and his ideas for a bath remodel. It turned out that we decided to hold off on that bigger project and just hire him for the other smaller stuff that was more urgent'y needed. Kevin was the manager on those jobs and did a good job of staying in touch for the most part. But I had to point out a few things which weren't done correctly the first time and thety came back out to fix most of it. There is still some poor staining that was pointed out before they left, but we never heard from them on fixing that that to our satisfaction. I'd love to give Dave another shot when we finally redo the bathroom, but with so many choices out there, we are thinking of looking elsewhere.

I was very pleased with the quality of his work and his professionalism. On several occasions when the work would really require a certified tradesman (plumber, electrician) he consulted by phone with someone with that training from the company and provided recommendations. I provided a list of the things that I wanted done before he came by email, but I added some things once he was here and he happily took them on. He was also very good at staying within his skill set. He didn't try to take on things that he wasn't qualified to do but he did call for advice from specialists in the company and was able to provide useful advice on how to proceed. The only minor disappointment is that I asked the individual that was here to ask the insulation specialist in the company to contact me to set up an estimate and I have not heard back from them. It is a minor issue because I could pick up the phone and call and I plan to.
Description of Work: This work was part of a special Angie's deal for 8 hours of contractor's work for $300 and it was well worth it. The individual performed a range of jobs that were in the handyman category (replacing torn screens, replacing a faucet, installing a door knob and door latch, installing a couple of toilet seats, realigning a folding closet door that was off of its hinges, fix a leaky shower head, replace a towel holder that had fallen off of the bathroom wall). He also evaluated a toilet valve that was installed by a plumber from Bonfe's that has not worked correctly and provided a reason that it was not working. He also went into the attic to check insulation and took pictures, which was very helpful.

I had the guy take out an old vanity in my basement bathroom and put in a new one I had bought. The old vanity didn't have drawers and the new one had 3 drawers on the side. With that he had to do a little adjusting so that the drawers would work. He did a great job with the vanity and it looks great. I also had him replace a light fixture and a GFI plug and put new silicone down on my kitchen sink as my kitchen sink was lose. He did a great job on everything I needed done. The only problem I had is that they were a little overwhelmed with the number of responses they received to their Deal that it took awhile for them to get my appointment set up. Otherwise they did a good job.

Both projects went very smoothly. WE had to wait a couple of extra days on the cabinets, but that ws our fault in taking our time to decide. They didn't pressure us which was good. I stated most of our story prior and this is not the first time I have commented on Edgework. We would have them back again and again because of their work, attention to detail and price.
Description of Work: Edgework has been at our house for 2 major projects. The first was for a master bathroom remodel. They gutted the entire bathroom, installed a new tub, shower, radiant floor heat, sinks, you name it. Dave the owner is personable has a good ideas. Kevin, his right hand man is very nice and easy to work with. The bathroom came out great. They sub the paint, tile and electrical work. We did have an issue withone of our tile. I called Kevin and they fixed it immediately without hesitation. No issues since. We loved them so much that we had them back for our full basement remodel. Both Dave and Kevin had great design ideas. WE had walls removed, a gas stove installed, false walls put up, new electrical, ceiling. They gave us a completely different looking basement.

In 2008 we had Edgework remodel our masterbath. They beat out 3 other contractors and we are glad we chose them. There have been a few things that they have been called back for, nothing major, but they are ont top of things right away. We invited them to bid on remodeling our basement, and they won again. We have gained alot of trust in them and they did an awesome job. They tore down a wall, installed a fake wall, installed a fireplace, cabinets; the basement was gutted! The did everything down to the installation of our theater room. We couldn't be happier :). They took an ugly disfunctional basement and designed and built us a new relaxing "family cave"!

We were very unhappy with our lower level. It was not a good design. We had no idea what to do when we met Dave Stockdale at one of the homes on display in the Remodelers Showcase. We asked him if he would come and look at our place and see if he had any ideas. We were amazed at what he designed and decided immediately to go ahead with the job. It took approximately 5 months to complete the job but they stuck to their schedule that we had been presented with at the very beginning. We were also given our timeline to know when our selections had to be completed. Of course it was a big job and caused quite some disruption as the addition included two floors! The trades people were always courteous and showed professionalism, but then they had Kevin to supervise them! And Kevin was at our disposal at all times to look after our requirements. We made changes throughout the project but these were all accepted and carried out. We now have a home that we are much happier with and enjoy so much more! Our home was even featured in the Remodelers Showcase in the spring of 2009!
Description of Work: We totally remodeled our lower level including adding on an addition.
