Custom Refacing LLC

I am very tardy in my review of the work Lonn performed for us back in February but don't mistake that for being unhappy (I'm just very forgetful). Anyway, we were looking for a fast and economical way to update our kitchen so we thought we would explore cabinet refacing in conjunction with replacing our counters. To that end, we received a couple of proposals from different companies to reface our oak cabinets. Lonn arrived exactly on time on a Saturday morning to meet with us about his proposal. In addition to providing several pictures of his work he brought samples of what he supplies. I was very impressed with both the quality he showed and he came off as someone who cares about his customers and delivering high quality. It was really quite easy to select him over the competing offers and we are glad we did. At the time we selected him we arranged for a week about a month later for him to complete the work. Just as he said, it took him exactly a week to complete everything. It was noisy and dusty for a week but it was all very worth it. Not only did he reface all the cabinets with 1/4" natural cherry, he also built a couple of new cabinets to change the configuration of our kitchen a bit. Additionally, he made all of our upper cabinets about 12 inches taller. Finally, he added all those cool add-ons like slide out shelves, tip tray, slide out garbage, etc. After Lonn finished his work we had our granite counters installed by another company and a new glass tile backsplash installed. We couldn't be more happy with the results and it was all done for probably less than half the price and a quarter the time of a total gut remodel. No one can even tell our old cabinets are underneath that beautiful cherry. On top of that you get to work with a guy like Lonn who was very professional, punctual, and friendly in every interaction we had with him. His ultimate goal is the customer's satisfaction and that comes through in everything he says and does. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again for any kind of similar work in the future.

Lonn is fantastic to work with and the quality of the work was excellent. He is prompt, courteous, and knows what he is doing. The finished product looked great, and he was even able to find a creative solution to a problem we had due to a ceiling fan obstructing one of the upper cabinet doors. He works efficiently and was very attentive to cleaning up at the end of each day. I appreciate craftsmen like Lonn who take pride in their work. I have already recommended Lonn to friends and will continue to do so.

Everything went great. Very professional, cleaning up every night. We had 3 other bids on our kitchen, 1 from another independent contractor and 2 from "big box" companies. Custom Refacing was the stand out due to the prices and helpfulness in finding solutions to problem areas (as far as storage solutions, changing cabinets to drawers, etc.) ... which no one else had any clue about. Great quality on everything. We got the look of a custom kitchen without having to tear out perfectly good (but extremely ugly) cabinets and send them to a landfill. No hesitations on recommending Custom Refacing.

I was trying to avoid replacing a bathroom vanity that had badly damaged wood. Lonn first came out to assess the damage and provide an estimate. He indicated he could build new cabinet doors and sides to match the other woodwork in the room. He took measurements and a sample of the wood and indicated he could get the work done in 2-3 weeks. He provided an estimate on the spot, which I accepted. Lonn subsequently came out did the work. He was prompt, professional, and very courteous. The result was amazing - the vanity looks new and matches the other woodwork in the room perfectly. I could not be happier with my experience with Custom Refacing LLC.

We were looking for a cost-effective and eco-friendly way to update our kitchen and this was it. Lonn was very helpful with picking out the materials and styles of cabinets that worked with our home's style. He provided suggestions to make the most out of our space and was able to accommodate my specific requests (adding drawers to replace cabinets, adding pull-out for dog food bin, redesigning a hidden corner to make it more usable). He was extremely professional and not at all pushy. He seemed sincerely invested in making our kitchen the way we wanted it. He was right on with price estimate and timing. The price was super reasonable given the amount of work he performed. He was able to finish our project within 2 days, he cleaned up every night and kept the kitchen blocked off from the rest of the house to prevent getting dust on our furniture. He even worked around my dog after I forget to lock her up for part of the day, letting her in and out to the bathroom! Our kitchen looks completely new and the quality of the work is exceptional. I have recommended him to many friends, co-workers, and family. I will most definitely use him in the future for any additional projects that come up!

My husband and I have can't find enough words for "superlative" and that's what Lonn's work is. He does exactly what he says he will do exactly when he says he will do it. He was always careful, neat, thoughtful and sensible. He is a skilled craftsman and takes great pride in his work. This kitchen wouldn't be as great as it is today if he hadn't given us his opinion when asked. Together we came up with a great plan. We honestly don't know how he managed to complete this entire project in five days because it was a big project. Friends are very surprised that this is a refacing project because it doesn't look like what one might expect. There is richness and depth to the wood and finish. We chose cherry and are so happy with it. Lonn suggested oil rubbed bronze handles and I admit that this wouldn't have been my first choice. Assuming that he knew what he was talking about, we went with his suggestion. Gosh, was he right. They are perfect. I wanted glass in the doors that would blur the view of the tattered but beloved cookbooks I've collected over 40 years. The fine line glass suggested by Lonn is perfect. We are thrilled with the drawers for supplies and pots and pans. Although heavily loaded, they roll in and out like a dream. I kept worrying about that and Lonn said not to worry. He was right. Lonn puts molding around the bottom of the upper cabinets to make under-the-counter lighting less visible. It is a very nice touch. Everything is sturdy and well-made. This was a combination refacing and new construction project. Two cabinets are completely new and one is a hybrid. I think the hybrid of old and new had to have been the most difficult part and it is now is the focal point of the kitchen. How nice to have the added counter space and more usable storage space! Changing everything to allow for a larger refrigerator was a big job. Upper and lower cabinets had to be reconfigured in addition to the surround itself. Lonn took great care in removing the old surround so that there wouldn't be an issue with the wood floor. The cabinet over the oven had to be reconfigured, too, because the old opening wasn't tall enough. This all went smoothly. One super part of this was something we had concerns about in the beginning. Lonn was going to do his part with the cabinets but then how would it go when his colleagues, all independent contractors, started with their parts of the project? Lonn suggested the people who did the countertops (granite in one part and Silestone in another), electrical work, painting and tile work. Every person, without fail, was responsible, skilled, friendly, neat and nice to be around. We got good advice from everyone, also. I am going to try to figure out how to post photographs so that a clearer idea of Lonn's work can be shown. One final thing. We had to wait awhile for Lonn to get to our project. It went so well and the results are so lovely that our friends will have their kitchen done by Lonn next month. Good things are worth waiting for. Working with Lonn and his fellow contractors is worth a wait. The time goes by quickly when one starts planning.

Lonn did an excellent job. As we checked out different contractors, he was the only one we talked to who gave us the feeling that we were working with a craftsman rather than a salesman. That turned out to be the case. We wanted guidance in choosing the right product and he did have real wood that was custom finished. He helped us by answering our questions and giving us the choice between woods. His patience as we tried to find the right stain color was much appreciated. The work was started on time and stayed on schedule. Since there is some dust created, he used effective barriers to contain it. He cleaned up each evening. We are delighted with our kitchen cabinets!

I found Custom Refacing, LLC (Lonn Schmitz) on Angies List a few years ago when I needed odd-sized vanity, a bathtub access door and two tall skinny linen cabinet doors in our master bath refaced. That project went well, still looks great and has held up well. So, when I was ready to do the remaining two vanities, I called Lonn. I was flexible on timing and wasn't in a rush, so I just let Lonn schedule me in when convenient for him. Lonn came out to measure and a couple weeks later, on July 3, did the installation. He set up his saws in the garage and got to work. He works efficiently and is very, very tidy. He puts a cloth runner down on the stairs and vacuums up when he is done. He bagged up all the scraps (he even bags up trash neatly). Lonn is punctual, hard working, does high quality work and a genuine nice guy; I highly recommend him. I have him preparing an estimate for a little two-door shelf unit for over the toilet and am having him prepare an estimate to do my laundry room.

Custom Refacing did a fabulous job with our kitchen. Lonn was very easy to work with and cared about every aspect of the job. Lonn was very professional, punctual and provided ideas on what he could do with certain aspects of the kitchen. Pricing was right in there with the other 2 bids we had done. We would definitely hired Lonn again or refer him to anyone looking to update their kitchen.

Lonn came for an estimate over a year ago. Once we started looking around at other options for the next 6 months, (completely new cabinets, or restaining, or painting our current ones) and we found out that Lonn had the best price and couldn't be beat for our needs in a kitchen. We called him back to do another estimate and to hire him for the job. He came with door samples and a scrapbook of his previous jobs with before and after photos. He listened to all of our needs. He made some great suggestions to improve the looks and usability of our new kitchen. About a month before install, Lonn came out to measure the cabinets. He brought along samples of doors, trim, crown molding, and drawer/door pulls. He was able to get me the exact color of stain for the cabinets. He was able to find me the exact pulls that I was looking for. He installed all soft close doors and the new drawers we got were full extension. When it came time to install, Lonn was on time every day. Prepped the area before he started. He had drop cloths to hang between the rooms to reduce the amount of dust. He laid out a rubber squares to cover our new slate and granite countertops. He was very professional in his work and was on schedule the entire time. The final bill was exactly the amount of his original estimate. We would highly recommend Lonn to anyone who is interested in remodeling their kitchen. He did a fantastic job in our kitchen and will definitely use him in the future.

I contacted Custom Refacing through Angie's list to get a quote on redoing my kitchen cabinets and those in the bathroom. Our meeting was scheduled shortly after I contacted him and on a Saturday, which was easy for me. Lonn arrived on time and our meeting was very informative. I knew that I wanted to redo the cabinets and was also considering redoing the kitchen floor at the same time. Lonn answered my questions and provided helpful ideas. He left me with a detailed quote that I was able to use when it came time to making a decision. After speaking with various people, I?ve decided that redoing the kitchen floor at the same time was an important part of this project. Custom Refacing does not do floors so I decided to go with another vendor.

I really like the work Lonn did this past May. I have nothing but compliments to give about the work he finished. This is the second time he has done work for us, last yr he refaced our kitchen cabinets and I really love my kitchen. Obviously, I liked his work and thus the reason we signed him to do the work on interior doors.

It couldn't have gone better. Lonn has good ideas and will suggest ways to solve any problems that come up. He is very thorough and his workmanship is outstanding. He is a true craftsman. I was very comfortable having him in my house. I would highly recommend him for any project you have in mind. He is very easy to work with.

WOW! Superior service. Lonn was without a doubt the best contractor I have ever had in my home. His attention to detail and ability to explain things in understandable terms gave us a comfortable feeling. Done ahead of time and on budget. Lonn respectedd our privacy and our home. The refacing job was better than we could have hoped for. Lonn is a professional who knows what he is doing. It was our first time having our kitchen redone in our rental. We had quotes from other vendors, but Lonn provided a proposal that provided both better quality and lower cost. We had a tight budget and he helped us keep within it, without sacrificing quality. He had some great suggestions for changing some things that we never considered (i.e. pull out drawers for deep shelves, a tip tray below the sink). He built new cabinet doors, drawers, replaced the lazy susan and updated hardware. He does all the work on-site and he uses real wood! The project was completed ahead of schedule and he kept a clean work environment. There were no hidden surprises in cost; we paid what we were quoted. He came in at 50% of what Home Depot quoted us for the same work based on particle board with laminate coating. This was a great experience, and we will probably use Lonn for our home as well. Its refreshing to work with someone who has a nice personality, is responsive and good at what he does without any gimmicks. We highly recommend Custom Refacing.

Overall experience was excellent. Lonn is very professional and made us feel very comfortable with the process.

Lonn came out to review my project. After less than 4 hours, he was back with a firm quote, detailed exactly what was going to be done, and took two of my cabinet doors with him. He estimated that he would get the doors modified, stained/varnished, and would be back the following Thursday to complete the in-house tasks. Sure enough, on Tuesday of that week, he said he could come out either Thursday or Friday of the week he had promised. He said he would arrive at 8:00 AM, and arrived appr. 30 seconds before that time. Lonn is extremely professional. He takes the time to properly 'tarp' off the area he will be working in, to minimize any dust that would be released. I could NOT be anymore pleased with the quality of Lonn's work. I would trust him alone in our house without any reservations. I plan to do a more expensive project of refacing this summer, and I probably won't even bother getting a quote from anyone other than Lonn. So refreshing to find a young person that is both honest and a craftsman.

I appreciated that Lonn answered his phone on a Sunday and we set up a time to come Tuesday (today). He was great.

I was searching Angies list as I was undecided as to what to do to update our kitchen. I had received an estimate for a full kitchen remodel, an estimate from a handyman and the I contacted Lonn Schmitz due to all the high marks on Angies List. He originally came to our home in late November, gave me an estimate and said the bid would be good for 90 days. I called him back in February. He again came out to take measurements, had me pick out cabinet doors and handles. I knew the color I wanted for the cabinets. He came out again with a sample color from another job he had just finished that was exactly what I was looking for. We set the install out for 3 weeks. He arrived on time daily. We appreciated how thoughtful he was to avoid dust throughout the house. He put up a floor to ceiling tarp, covered our hutch with a blanket and covered the floor and countertops with 3 inch pads to protect them. He even taped the top of the microwave. The work he did was absolutely beautiful. We couldn't be happier with the results. I would have no qualms hiring him again or recommending him to anyone. I also need to add that he had the patience of a saint as I changed my mind several times. He even, made some suggestions as I was undecided as to style and color. I now know why he has 38 A ratings on Angies list (39 with this one). You cannot go wrong hiring him.

Great from start to finish.

Lonn was excellent to work with from the first visit he came out to give us the estimate, to project completion. We were doing kitchen remodeling among various other projects to get ready for our son's graduation open house. Since it was already May, I was a bit stressed. I'm the type of person who has trouble making decisions and Lonn was so helpful in aiding us in our decisions from the type of wood, stain color and door style to choose. He was always on time, worked very efficiently (our dog loved him) and took care to keep the mess to a minimum. We had just had a new wood floor installed and his rubber mats did the job to protect them. Our kitchen looks beautiful and we were very happy with the job. We would recommend him to anyone.

See my comments above. I couldn't be more pleased with the work that Lonn did on my kitchen. Forgot to mention that in addition to high quality workmanship, daily clean up and overall process was smooth and easy for me. As always one has dust whenever this kind of work is undertaken. But Lonn's attention to draping the kitchen openings to protect the rest of my townhouse from dust resulted in managing the dust of wall board being everywhere.
