We couldn't be happier with the cabinet refacing project that Custom Refacing just completed for us. The quality of the workmanship and materials was extraordinary! Lonn was extremely helpful in giving us ideas on how to make our kitchen cabinets more fuctional and useful. And the project cost fit right into our budget.

Lonn and his crew just finished up refacing our kitchen cabinets yesterday, a couple days ahead of schedule. The work was very well done and detailed. We met with Lonn last April but didn't decide to move forward until August. When we contacted Lonn in August he gave us a timeline of the process and met the timeline. He was professional and responsive to all our questions. He communicated with us in timely manner. I would highly recommend Lonn and Custom Refacing. Refacing is excellent alternative to a full remodel.

Our 65 year old cabinets in our East side Bloomington rambler were in serious need of some updates and upgrades. After getting a high pressure sales pitch with a jaw dropping price tag from one of those chains that advertise on TV, we called Lonn with Custom Refacing. From scheduling the quote, to completing the work, Lonn was professional, prompt and kind. He listened to what we wanted, and offered solutions to improve the look, storage and overall functionality of our kitchen, while working with the glitches in our older kitchen. We ended up refacing some of our cabinets, adding one new one where we previously had shelves, and completely reconfigured and replaced the cabinets above our refrigerator and stove (allowing us to put a microwave above the stove) and improving access to the cupboard above the refrigerator. All of the drawers were replaced with soft close drawers, one new pull-out was installed in our lower cabinets, and a tipout was put under the sink to allow storage of sponges and small cleaning items. The bulk of the project took only two days. (Lonn came back that Saturday to finish installing the pullout above the refrigerator that had not come on time - this took less than an hour) The day the project was scheduled to begin, Lonn and his fellow carpenter, Ryan, arrived promptly at the agreed upon time, they partitioned the kitchen from the rest of the house to minimize the mess, and cleaned up each evening. I am thrilled with the new look and functionality of my kitchen and the ease of the process working with Lonn at Custom Refacing.

It’s my pleasure to add yet another stellar review for Custom Refacing. Lonn first stopped out to our home early this year for the initial sales visit and completed his work in late August. While we had a couple of other contractors stop out as well, the decision to use Lonn was an easy one. You’ll be impressed with his soft spoken, no nonsense demeanor. He listens to what customers want and he makes great practical design and functionality suggestions. He’s not out to sell you anything. He’s very matter of fact and well organized and will do whatever he can to accommodate your list of priorities. A little bit about our project. Our home was built in 1959 and the current cabinets were originals. Eighteen years ago, we initiated a limited remodel that included adding new doors and drawer fronts, but it wasn’t a full cabinet reface. At the time, we also added new countertops, tile and an additional free standing cabinet. Our goal in 2022 was to create a more contemporary, user friendly kitchen. We wanted to move away from our dated golden-toned, wood grain cabinets and go mostly White, and also switch to new updated White Oak wood grain reface on the newer free standing cabinet as an accent. Beyond the cabinet reface, we also needed some reconfiguration of existing cabinets. This included eliminating a very old wall oven and separate cook-top and adding an over the range microwave to maximize limited countertop space. Such a change afforded us enhanced pantry storage in the former wall oven space. We did away with the gas cooktop and small cabinet below and added a new gas range to that location. Lonn then added new cabinetry above the range to facilitate the new over the range microwave. He also replaced the cabinet above the refrigerator for easier access and increased space and modified our free standing cabinet with new drawers, versus previous hard to access shelving. Lastly, he eliminated a bookshelf on the end of that cabinet to give us a more streamlined, less cluttered look with better access to a hard to reach broom closet. Lonn was punctual and his work commenced and ended right on schedule. There were no unexpected issues whatsoever. We did use the tile contractor that Lonn referred us to for the removal and replacement of the backsplash tile. He did a nice job and we were happy with him. We didn’t use Lonn’s regular countertop guy, as we found an alternative source for that part of the project. The bottom line is that we now have a far more contemporary and attractive kitchen with more usable cabinet space and greater shelf and drawer efficiency. Thanks to Lonn and his assistant for their thoughtfulness and expert handiwork. I wholeheartedly recommend Custom Refacing to anyone considering a kitchen refresh.

The whole process with Custom Refacing was great. We got three bids and theirs was the most thoughtful and comprehensive by far. They really listened to us and their bid reflected their understanding of what we wanted. This carried through to the measurement phase and then to the installation phase. Communication was excellent the entire time. They were very patient in answering our questions and were able to explain our choices in ways that made sense to us. The installation took four days. Each day they arrived on time, worked steadily all day and cleaned up before they left so that we could use the kitchen in the evening. Their planning was excellent and they were able to keep to their schedule. We were very impressed by the quality of the workmanship, the attention to detail, the teamwork they displayed and of course, the end result. On a project like this, there will always be some small issues to be dealt with. Custom Refacing took them all in stride. They completely exceeded our expectations. The kitchen is both beautiful and much more functional than it had been before the project. They are currently scheduling several months into the future but in our experience it was very much worth the wait. Custom Refacing provides a truly professional experience from start to finish. Perfect from start to finish. We couldn't be any happier. Lonn is a professional who is punctual, organized and efficient and does high quality work. He took the time during the estimate and measuring to understand what we wanted and made helpful suggestions. We chose a cherry stain and cabinets and we got the color to match perfectly. All of the materials were high quality and the finish detail was excellent with no flaws. We also liked that the kitchen was cleaned up and useable each day after they left. When the job was completed we almost wished we had more work for them to do!

Lonn was amazing. I wanted to reface my cabinets, replacing all the doors on the lower cabinets with drawers. He was very helpful during the design discussions, giving me some options I had not considered, including replacing our desk area with more cabinets. His workmanship is superb and considering the amount of sawdust generated, his workspace was clean every night. I would definitely recommend Lonn.

Lonn did an excellent job. He was very professional and punctual. He made sure he explained everything up front, and kept checking in thought the project to see if we had any questions or concerns. Lonn cleaned up the work area at the end of each day, and at the end of the project. He pointed out a couple of minor defect that he wasn't happy with (and we likely wouldn't have noticed), and corrected those. Lonn finished the project on the timing he had indicated. Overall, we were extremely happy with the quality of the work and the professionalism of Lonn. I would definitely hire him again.

Lonn started the whole process to remodel the 1st floor. It took most of 2020. After we upgraded to new appliances, the next step was to reface our 1994 oak cabinets with Hirshfields Fruitwood stain on them. We ditched the stain idea and went with the two color combo. Lonn was very helpful on new ideas that we incorporated into the design. Removed the desk that no one ever sat at and built a box cabinet, custom pull out drawers over the refrigerator that now are much easier to get at, and added one foot of height and a larger custom molding all the way around. Lonn was on time, sensitive to our needs, cleaned up on a daily basis, and if problems arose tackled them in a timely manner. He also gave us names for the quartz countertops. In addition to the kitchen work Lonn also built us a custom mudroom cabinet with a bench and drawers attached underneath, also refacing the powder room vanity and the cabinet that was already in the mudroom. When completed Lonn said this was the largest job in the number of new drawers and cabinet doors that he had done. That may have change later in 2020. I would not hesitate at all to use Lonn again, and would highly recommend him.

Our new kitchen is beautiful! Working with Lonn was great. We had postponed the project for years because it was so daunting, too expensive and we couldn't out how to solve layout problems. Lonn made suggestions that kitchen designers had not, he refaced existing cabinets, moved cabinets and installed some new cabinets. We now have beautiful cherry cabinets - we spent less money and kept our existing cabinets out of the landfill. We highly recommend Custom Refacing, LLC.

It is quite an upheaval to remove every last piece of everything out of your kitchen and have someone come into your home to work, but Lon was professional, efficient, and reliable. From detail work on the cabinets themselves, to them creating a custom stain that would match my existing woodwork.
