 + -1 moreVictor called me ahead of time and told me exactly when he'd be at my house. He was very friendly and made sure to lay down a drop cloth to not get my carpet dirty. He told me exactly what he was going to do and then took the time to show me how to effectively and safely use my fireplace. He even cleaned off the smoke stains on the stone above my fireplace. I called on a Monday and they were able to fit me in on a Tuesday. Add'l they were $125 cheaper than other places I had called.

We have never before had a wood fireplace so he explained to me how it works. He even made an esthetical recommendation. They fixed some small cracks with no extra charge.

 + 0 moreThe entire process, from the ease of making the appointment to the visit itself went smoothly.
Description of Work: I called Copperfield on Thursday afternoon and Victor and Aaron were here promptly at 9 am the next day as promised. The chimney was cleaned, inspected, I had 2 chimney caps placed to prevent critters from making a home and had a clean out taken care of. I used the Angie's List coupon as well. Victor loves his work, is very knowledgeable and easy to work with. I will definitely recommend him to others!

He comes and does his job and does it well. He just enjoys cleaning chimneys. We enjoyed him. Comparably you kind of give what you pay for.

 + -1 moreNeeded to have the fireplace and chimney cleaned for the end of the winter season. Called to schedule an appt with no problem. A couple of days ahead I received a call from Vic confirming the work and time. He arrived on time and he and his work partner (forget his name) set to work. Vic offered to remove an old antenna from the roof while he was up there free of charge. They worked quickly making sure to lay down cloth to protect the carpets and removed shoes before coming in the house. Afterwards, Vic showed me how to close the flew (sp?) and that it had been off the track. He also showed where there was damage to the external chimney and missing bricks. He gave a bid to repair that. Used an the Angie's list discount. Great experience, would definitely call again.

 + -1 moreHad my chimney cleaned and inspected before turning my home over to renters. Always like to use local, small businesses when I can. Appt was for 11am, but they called a day or two beforehand to see if they could come earlier. they showed up at 10 and were done and out of there by 10:45. Price was exactly what I was told on the phone. Got 10 bucks off for mentioning Angie's List. The two men were professional and quick, no mess or anything. The only way I knew they had been there is because they repaired a couple cracks for free. I'd had my chimney cleaned 5 years ago for around $100, but this time I knew it was being inspected as well and received certification that the fireplace/chimney was safe for my tenants to use. I felt that was worth the extra money.. plus they fixed the cracks. I would definitely use this company again.

 + 0 moreThey arrived on time and went straight to work. Before they started they put drop cloths down to keep the area around the fireplaces clean. They cleaned and inspected 3 fireplaces and fixed the damper on one of the fireplaces that was letting out a ton of cold air. Although our house is about 100 years old they were very familiar with the style and Victor actually seemed excited to see and work on these older fireplaces. I was very pleased with my experience.
Description of Work: Victor and his assistant inspected and clean 3 fireplaces and chimneys. They also fixed a damper on one of the fireplaces free of charge.

They covered surfaces where they were working, cleaned the chimney from the bottom up and from the top down, inspected the fireplace, answered questions. Overall we were extremely pleased. And the best part is the flue/dampter in our fireplace works now!
Description of Work: Inspected and cleaned chimney from bottom up and top down; in the process cleaned out fireplace and the repaired flue which had come off track from all the gunk in the chimney.

 + 0 moreI searched Angie's List and after several calls decided to go with Victor and Copperfield Chimney Sweeps. The reviews were positive and I got a good "feeling" from discussing my needs with Victor on the phone. I have a vintage Preway freestanding fireplace. It's one of those cone shaped ones that Austin Powers would adore. I had scheduled for a service date several weeks out, but expressed a desire to get in sooner if there was an opening. I was called about an opening the next day, as requested, and I took it. Victor and assistant arrived promptly on time and were very friendly. They swept in, did their work, left NO MESS, and were completed in short order. My set-up is rather simple so I didn't expect it to take long. They gave me an update and once over of what was done, what to watch for, and how to properly operate the fireplace. Money well spent knowing that the fireplace and chimney are safe and in working order. I will cage this comment in that I thought, given my simple set-up, it was more than I had hoped to pay. However, again, money well spent for the peace of mind it will bring and it was well within, if not less than, other comparable services. I also prefer to support small local independent businesses when I can. I can not offer a stronger recommendation for Copperfield Chimney Sweeps.
Description of Work: Inspect and clean fireplace and chimney on a home I recently purchased. The Seller could not remember the last time the fireplace was serviced. Being that I wanted to use the fireplace it seemed prudent to have it inspected and serviced.

 + -1 moreThey were scheduled to come between 10 and 11:30 and showed up just before 11:30. They recommended that I get screens installed at the top of each chimney to protect from animal intrusion. The screens were expensive ($110 each) but he assured me that they were the best option and would last for the life of the home. Once everything was completed, they walked me through how to use the fireplace and answered all of my questions. They were patient in helping me understand how best to use the fireplace, as I have no experience with them prior to purchasing my current home.
Description of Work: Cleaned fireplace and installed two screens at top of chimneys to protect against animal intrusion. Also checked 2nd fireplace in basement for animals.

Victor offered a lot of additional information about the physical structure of my chimney and fireplace, in my opinion going above and beyond what was required. I had questions about some things such as potential masonry repair and cap replacement, both of which he advised were not necessary. How nice to get honest information. I will definitely use Copperfield Chimney Sweeps again and be assured if any repair work is suggested it is truly necessary.

Description of Work: I called Copperfield to have my chimney cleaned and check the flew liner. I had been told years ago that I needed a new liner. Victor's wife scheduled my appointment and explained that Victor doesn't install chimney liners but could look at mine to see if there was an issue. Her thought, based on the age of my home was that it would be a tile liner. Victor and his partner called the day of the appointment to see if it was ok to arrive early since they were ahead of schedule. They arrived and we talked about the work and my questions about the liner. Victor explained what they would do. They covered the area with tarps and cleaned the chimney. Victor confirmed what his wife had said - the chimney is lined with tile and did not need to be replaced. Because my house if older it had an ash dump which was a hole in floor of the fireplace where ashed were "dumped" and went to the basement. We found out, however, that the door to the ash dump was not adequately secured and could have resulted in a fire. Instead of fixing the ash dump Victor recommended sealing off the ash dump from the fireplace and I could then clean the ashes from the fireplace. That was a cheaper alternative and more convenient option. I was thankful for Victor's attention to safety and his thorough explaination of work performed. I'd highly recommend him and plan to use his services again the next time I need my chimney cleaned.
