Copperfield Chimney Sweeps & Repair

Victor noted that I had smoke entering the interior of my house (from the stained surround). It was due to the current chimney cap that didn't allow the smoke to properly escape out of the top of the chimney. I can't wait for the first fire, to validate the change. Even if it's a small change, it'll be worth the addtional $60 for the new screen. They also showed me what they had pulled down out of the chimney, so I know I got my money's worth out of the cleaning. They were professional. Actually arrived 15 minutes early. Victor apologized, but he didn't need to. I'd rather have someone show up early, rather than hours late. After they cleaned the chimney and cleaned up and left, you couldn't even tell they were there. I had sort of assumed that I'd have some dust residue in the living room, but there was nothing. I would highly recommend this company to anyone that needed their chimney cleaned.

Called Copperfield and made an appointment to get the chimney cleaned. Copperfield arrived on time and went to work. During the the course of the cleaning they reported any problems that they found and asked if I wanted them fixed. The quality of the work was excellent.

Victor was very responsive and helpful. Overall, I think he did an excellent job. He was incredibly upfront and honest with us, and I plan on hiring him again in the future.

Vic convinced us to replace the caps on our chimney with open screens. I thought this was odd as it would let rain in. He said that wasn't a problem at all and it would create a better draw. He originally quoted one price for the screens but then after he was done they were both $10 higher. I called him on it and he changed it back. Roll ahead 7 years. The rain has indeed done its damage thanks to Vic. I've had two different chimney sweeps out and both said I was scammed. There is damage from the water getting in but we thankfully caught it in time where it won't be too expensive and will replace his scam job with caps... again. Also way over priced compared to the competition.

The job went very well and Vic and his assistant did a very good job. I an very pleased with their work. They were very tidy.

Vic and his assistent were very professional. They covered the floor and created a plastic tent to cover their work area. They worked quickly but did a thorough job. The scheduling was easy and he came when promised (actually a little early which was great). The price was as stated when the appointment was made. I thought the price for the cover cap/screens was a little high but I didn't have something to compare it to that was exactly the same.

Wonderful! We are first time home owners and also never had a fire place. He educated us on how to use our fireplace and safety. He was very informative and prompt. He seems to really have a lot of knowledge. We will hire him again.

After I sold my house, the buyers' inspector discovered that the damper in the basement rec room fireplace (which I never used) was stuck shut. Victor diagnosed the problem over the phone, assured me it was not serious (what a relief) and very common , so much so that there is a fixed price for the repair. Best of all-- he came the very next day! Anyone who is selling a house in the present market will know how much I appreciated that! Repair was done quickly, and everything was cleaned and left spotless when they were done. Highly recommended.

Originally contacted the company through email, but that caused challenges with scheduling due to back and forth. Called directly and got an appointment scheduled quickly. Service was very nice. The whole process was fast. I was pleased with the results.

Victor and his partner were on time,professional, clean to the max, intelligent about what they were doing. The whole job could not have taken more 30 minutes.Plus I got a ten dollar discount. I will definatly use them again!

They showed up on time, worked quickly, and cleaned up after themselves. They also gave great advice and information about the fireplace. I would highly recommend them.

It is easy to make an appointment with Copperfield Chimney Sweeps. The "wait time" was about a week. I was given an hour "window" for a start time. Victor was a little late (15 minutes beyond the window, perhaps). They have floor cloths and also put plastic in front of the fireplace opening, so while some soot is inevitable, they keep things pretty clean. The work took just under an hour. There is no residual smell or any sort. There was no pressure to up-sell me on anything (in contrast to Jack Pixley's group, which always told me that I needed major repairs). I will call Copperfield for my next cleaning.

Wonderful experience. I was happy to find that both chimneys were in good condition. Without my asking, they also removed a large, useless television antenna and cleaned some leaves from a gutter as they were already on the roof. I was stunned at the fact they went the extra mile for me. I will call them again, definitely!

Victor is extremely pleasant and professional to deal with. This was the second time he has done work for us. He and his assistant were very thorough and left no trace at all. He is very open to questions and takes time to explain what he's doing. I would definitely recommend him and plan to use him for all future chimney cleaning and repair work.

Great service from Copperfield! The didn't charge me to replace a chain on one of the chiney dampers and they gave me a great price to replace two worn out chimney caps. Not only did they replace the chimney caps but they explained why they needed to be replaced and why the caps they would install are superior to most replacement caps. Job very well done!

The 2 man crew did a fine job: on-time, kept the home area clean, good communication before the job (called to confirm appt.) and during the job, and did a thorough, licensed inspection w/comments on the fireplace draft, flue wear-n-tear, and current Edina fire codes. I would definitely use them again. Their pricing was in the middle of the area market from what I could tell (2 other bids from Angie 'A' chimney sweeps).

Victor was, as he has been every single time I've used him, extremely prompt, professional and friendly. He does a great job, clearly knows his business very well, and always leaves the place cleaner than when he comes. I've used his services multiple times on two different house and I've always had a great experience.

Victor Skelly from Copperfield Chimney Sweeps really lived up to his recommendations. He was on time, and did a great job with cleaning the two chimneys. He also exceeded my expectations when he repaired loose bricks, caulked joints, and fixed the Chimalator at no extra charge. He kept our place clean and was in and out in the promised 90 minutes. A solid, old-world craftsman. Highly recommended.

It all went very well. They were very professional, and did a good cleaning, including getting rid of the bird nest (we had been hearing a bird in the chimney every evening for a few weeks). They capped the chimney to prevent the problem from happening again. We have white carpet around the fireplace area, and they put down plastic and kept everything very clean.

I was able to schedule an appointment over email which was really convenient. Victor and his partner were about 10 minutes early, which was great and they stayed probably for 30 minutes or a little less. They removed a dead bird from the chimney, replaced pit cover and critter guard (for additional charges). They also cleaned out my whole fireplace so now it looks really nice. Both were extremely knowledgable which I appreciated. I think my only complaints were - the additional charges - as I was only expecting to pay a base rate of $165 (with Angie's list coupon) and was not informed that there may be extra charges (ie for the pit cover and critter gaurd) and also that my old critter guard was left for me to dispose of. But other than that, the service was great.

We had moisture intrusion in the basement wall that abuts on the chimney. We e-mailed Copperfield and promptly received a call from Victor Skelley. He came out a in a day or two. He started in the basement and quickly diagnosed the problem as an inadequate flue cover on the hot water vent. Visual inspection of the chimney top confirmed that the cover was totally inadequate to vent moisture from the hot water heater. He replaced the cover with a proper one. He also took down an old antenna for no extra charge. Victor was very knowledgeable and professional.

They were prompt, reliable, fast. Stuck to his estimate, easy to work with, pleasant. And to top it off, while they were on the roof with the hose, he cleaned our gutters. They are fantastic.

It went very well. They quoted me a flat rate of $185 for the job and I also had an Angie's List coupon. Victor and his assistant arrived on time and got right to work. They took care to tarp the area in front of the chimney. They vacuumed everything out and disposed of it and got the damper working again. Victor explained that I had a broken ceramic liner tile that accounted for the debris. He gave me lots of helpful advice about what to do about that, which I appreciated. They left the area neat and clean. This was a good experience from start to finish.
