The issue is not with the company itself, in a sense, or the people in the office, they were excellent. The issue is with the driver, Greg, who was, frankly, mouthy and rude. I mentioned that we would have appreciated a call telling us he would be late and he said, "I was busy." He "apologized," quite begrudgingly but overall was abrupt and sullen. Not using the company any longer because I won't deal with that kind of personnel, and don't want him around.
Description of Work: The product and their long-standing reputation is excellent. They deliver and fill the water softner as promised, but the driver was one half hour later than the two-hour slot indicated.

We had issues with the water softener. They verified over the phone we had a model that they serviced. The tech called the morning of the appt to let me know when he would be arriving. Pete arrived when he said he would, and diagnosed the problem in about 15 minutes. He gave us the option to repair or replace, explaining that the softener was towards the end of its life cycle. We opted for repair, and Pete was in and out within the hour. I would use them again.
Description of Work: We had issues with the water softener, it was not working properly - water was yellowish vs clear. It was repaired.

As they said they would, Commers called early in the morning to schedule a two-hour window of time for their service. Scott arrived towards the beginning of that two-hour window. He was professional and friendly and worked quickly. We also have a Commers water softener. Since another provider had told us that the softener might not be working properly, he tested the water softness and for iron. He found a trace of iron and recommended a product we could add to the salt in the softener to help get iron out of the system. Scott did exactly what we were expecting and got in and out quickly although he took plenty of time to answer some questions we had. The cost of the service was consistent with what the Commers office had told me when we scheduled the service.
Description of Work: The Commers technician Scott replaced the filters on our water filtration system, checked the performance of the membrane, and sanitized the system. We have been doing this annually as recommended by Commers.

Appointments were made to evaluate the situations. They were kept punctually and not a lot of sales pitch. Their product speaks for itself.
Description of Work: I was impressed with the sales person. Not pushy and too eager to close the sale. Never called me, but I called him after research into the softner companies and BBB and I complimented him for not bugging us! The unit is super efficient; salt comsumption has gone way down. The installer was knowledgeable and neat, besides punctual. I referred my daughter, who lives in the country with a different water type (iron). They adjusted her resins specifically to her water and she had a reverse osmosis drinking system put in her kitchen. A year later, we are both happy with our service and appliances.

I'm totally pleased with Commers Conditioned Water services. The price was very reasonable. The salesman was very friendly and the technician was very accommodating and did a professional job even if he worked two extra hours because of a plumbing issue that we had with the mapping. The quality is excellent, I love it.

The sales person could not meet me as soon as I preferred, but it wasn't as if it were an emergency. He was knowledgeable and helpful. I was interested in a reverse osmosis drinking system, and the company had a "special" on this. That's possible, although I'm skeptical the two in tandem were a bargain. Conversely, it didn't seem overpriced, either. I'm sure there are lower prices for similar equipment, but I had a Commers before and there was nothing to complain about. It's a local company and the service/maintenance is very good. The installer was prompt, quick, offered options on the installation process (not financial, but location of some elements. Also had a reverse osmosis drinking system installed and installer was informative and particular about what I wanted and how I wanted it done. He was knowledgeable and explained the differences between my old and new system, and answered all my questions. Couldn't have gone any better.
Description of Work: Had old water conditioner removed and new one installed. Also had reverse osmosis drinking system installed.

My only complaint is that the new heater is wider and shorter than the old one but the plumber put it in the same spot making it very difficult to change my furnace filters. I'm not sure it is worth having someone move things around by a few inches, but I feel that a quality plumber would have watched out for this and made the necessary adjustments.
Description of Work: My water heater developed a leak so I called Commers since they had installed a water softening system about a month before. The soonest they could get someone out was in a couple days and I got an estimate of $1069. I figured that was about what I would spend anywhere and set up an appointment for 8am on Wednesday. The plumber arrived on time but he had the wrong type of water heater. When I spoke to Anthony Commers on the phone he never asked what type of heater I had (mine is a Powervent) and I never thought to tell him since I figured the ones on their website were all Powervent models so that must be what I was getting. To make along story short the plumber had to leave to go get the right heater and my bill went form $1069 to $1649 because of the Powervent. The whole thing was installed and working by 1pm even after the delay. I think the price is a tad high for what I received but the work was done well and things work as they should.

The new unit (actually made by Pentair according to the manual) monitors 4-weeks of water usage and only runs when it calculates that it will need to do so based on past usage for each day of the week. My old softener ran every 3 days no matter what and I already notice that my salt usage has decreased significantly. I am very happy with my decision to use Commers and will look to use them again when my aging water heater finally dies. The installer cleaned up thoroughly including some salt that I had spilled when servicing my old unit over the years. To say he left the area cleaner than when he arrived is no lie.
Description of Work: Called Commers on Tuesday because my old water softener was acting up. After discussing repair options and prices and hearing about the cost of a new unit I decided to replace my 7-year old softener. The installer arrived the next day (Wednesday) and it took him about an hour to install the new unit and haul away the old unit. In addition, I received coupons for 10 free bags of salt that we cashed in a few days later -- a very nice surprise. I should be set now for months.

Zach arrived promptly and finished the work quickly. He was respectful to my wife and offered a 10% senior discount on the labor, saving us $8.70, even though we had no idea this was available. The guys from Commers are always efficient and friendly and remind us about the procedures for draining the system prior to using the water. Although Commers calls every year to remind us the service is due, they have never been heavy-handed to pressure us to have them come out. Early on, I used to buy the filters and replace them myself but then the system did not get sanitized or checked over. I think it is worth the expense to be sure the water filter is working.
Description of Work: When we purchased our water conditioner from Commers, we also purchased a water filter system. Commers recommends that we change the filters annually and sanitize the system. This was our scheduled maintenance for those items. Their service technician Zach replaced both the pre- and post-filters, sanitized the system, checked the efficiency of the membrane filter, and tested the softness of the water coming from the water conditioner.

Late one evening my husband was cleaning the litter box and noticed our close to 20yr old water softener was leaking from the base. The next morning we went to two big box home improvement stores to check out water softener options and prices with install before heading to Commers. For some reason I had assumed that Commers was going to be way out of our budget, however I was very pleasantly surprised and plus they were having specials due to the State Fair in addition to giving us10 free bags of salt. Terry, the Store Manager was very helpful and assured us it would be installed that very day. Two workers came a couple hours later and they were very courteous and professional. They did an excellent job on the copper pipe work and even cleaned the floor area to look better than it did when they had arrived.

When we realized our REALLY old water softener wasn't working, we checked Angie's list and found Commers and their very good rating so we called and asked for someone to come out. The man came the next day and took a look at our water softener from across the room and then started in on his pitch to sell us a new softener. A heated discussion followed in which I expressed my concern over the fact that he hadn't examined our softener or made any attempt that I could see to determine if it could be fixed and in which he insisted to me that parts aren't available for a water softener that old and that it couldn't be fixed. Period. He then tested our water and recommended one of their models. While I suspect that he was probably right, it still irks me that he didn't even go through the motions of examining it. But, we needed a functioning softener as soon as possible and one way to make sure we had that was to buy his suggested model. So we did. We had to wait several days for the installer to arrive. The installer was pleasant and extremely knowledgeable. He cut and re-soldered the copper pipe connections, installed the new softener and moved the salt out of our old tank to the new one. .He then made sure we understood how to operate the new softener, and what to expect while our water heater cleared itself of hard water, what type of salt to use, etc. He then took the old softener and parts away. He was very neat. Throughout the process he protected the area around where we was working dust and from solder spatter and sediment from the old softener. He then thoroughly cleaned up after himself. I would hire him again. I'm still not sure about the salesman. '

Overall, we had a good experience with Commers. Several months later, we really like both the water softener and filtration system we bought. We shopped around with several companies and found Commers to be mid-range in price, which we were willing to pay to get the filtration system. The installers were very friendly and asked several questions to ensure it was going it correctly for us. They ran the water hose from the filtration system under the sink to the back of the refrigerator on the other side of the kitchen at no additional charge. Everything went very smoothly working with them and we would highly recommend them to anyone.

My interaction with Commers Conditioned Water Company was good. Their installers were real professional. However, I thought that their sales people were not as detailed as the other people in the company. Their price was really good; I thought it was competitive. I did check around with two or three places. It wasn?t cheap but it wasn?t high; it was just fair.

Brian arrived a little later than my wife expected, which was not a problem since she intended to be home any way. My wife passed on to me that Brian was friendly and worked quickly, leaving instructions for draining the tank before using the water.
Description of Work: Commers serviced the water filtration system that we purchased from them in 1999. Their technician Brian Johnson replaced the pre and post filters, checked the efficiency of the membrane, and sanitized and pressurized the water tank. This is all service that they recommend be done annually. Considering how companies take advantage of opportunities to increase their prices, I was impressed that the cost for this service was identical to last year except for a new $2.00 mileage charge.

We talked to Dave Hoon at the State Fair and setup a home appointment. Dave was very flexible as we had to change the re-schedule two times. Dave looked at our water 25 year old leaking water heater and tested our water. He recommended the 50g Bradford White heater and the Commers' water conditioner. He also looked at our Commers' reverse osmosis system and said it did not need to be replaced. The install crews (one for the water heater and another for the water conditioner) called to confirm the time they would arrive. The crews were professional and answered all of our questions.

I discovered the leak Saturday afternoon. I called Commers and was told it would cost $300 to have someone come out to repair it on a weekend. They told me to try closing the bypass valve, which I did. The dripping just increased. I was told the weekday rate was $103. I asked to make an appointment for Monday but was told I would have to call at 7 a.m. Monday morning. Because of the location of the water softener, I could not fit a bucket under the leak. I found a plastic container that fit, but I had to empty it every 5 hours, which meant getting up in the middle of the night to empty it Saturday night and Sunday night. I called at 7 a.m. Monday morning. A "real person" answered the phone on my third try, about 7:10 a.m. They said someone could come out Tuesday because no one would be working my area Monday. I explained that I had stayed home from work and that I had to empty the container every 5 hours. I was told they could pull someone "out of their area" and send them to repair it, but it would cost $150 instead of $103. Since I did not want to spend another day at home and another night getting up, I agreed. The repairman showed up on time and corrected the problem. He was very nice and professional. He noticed the bag of salt I had sitting there and offered to put it in the softener for me. If I had it to do over again, I would have called around and found someone who would repair it on Saturday. I have had plumbers come out on weekends that cost only slightly more. The people I talked to were very nice and so was the repairman, but I think their pricing policies are out of line.

Description of Work: The man that provided the quote over the phone was condescending and would not give specifics about how he determines the size of the water softener he recommended. I requested specific information so that I could compare quotes and he would not provide specifics, said they were 'hokus pokus". Also, his estimate was $200 higher than Puretap.

Stopped at the branch store in Burnsville and talked about the filter change, which I've done a few times on my own. But wanted to purge the tank and check the system pressure.
